I am very new to all of this and I just want to say your reviews are top-notch. It’s clear you really care about the characters, how they translate into toys, and what they represent. The way you played with him as you did the transformation and showed off the accessories was a genuine delight. It was like the toy himself was talking and interjecting and it made the video so much more enjoyable. Despite only now “getting into it,” Starscream has been my favorite Transformer for years. Imagine my abject delight and subsequent fear when I walked into the local collecting toy store to buy my first ever figure and seeing this absolute gem of a Screamer in the shop owner’s possession, up on a high shelf towards the back away from prying eyes. I wish I hadn’t seen it. I wish the owner hadn’t seen me see it. I wish he weren’t selling it for $300. This is my roundabout way of saying I am now determined to not only save up the money for this handsome chap, but to save up enough to buy the one from my local store to support the owner. My only fear is by the time I return with the necessary funds that his spot on the shelf will be filled with something else (there’s just something about buying a collection item in person, and I’d rather do that than purchase online, if I can). I DID walk out with some tiny now-retro seeker action figures from 2001. Had to get all three of the lads, of course.
As much as I hope you get this figure, as he is pretty nice, that "shop owner" is scalping you, BAD! I could see $200, since he's already imported it an all, but really, try to talk him down some, although this figure IS expensive, it is by no means particularly "rare," just something to think about. Good luck.
I've actually seen a few times where he did turn his waist lol, but the animation is full of errors and things that make no sense. But regardless, it's always nice to have articulation than not. The MP-11 mold had no waist swivel and the few figures I have currently based on that I absolutely hate because I just need them to turn their bodies like, 5 degrees to either side and I'd be able to squeeze them into the collection without getting jammed up between figures.

Having it in hand, is the color much darker than MP-36's shade of grey? Thank you for the support. :)
Just so you know Emgo if you buy the Thundercracker and Skywarp repaints of this mold Takara will throw in a set of coronation gear specifically designed for this mold.
Apparently in Japan, if you buy the three seekers and submit proof of purchase, you'll get his coronation gear. I am curious if the old versions stuff will work on him though...
This actually lives up to the Masterpiece name. Looks incredible, very clean, and looks like it's fun to transform. I may have to get one. Which also means having to get Skywarp and Thundercracker and probably Ramjet and Thrust. But probably not Dirge, cuz he's a dork.
Hey Emgo, another great video. After watching you transform Starscream it seems like the more Takara makes Masterpiece figures more complex to transform the more likely something could break. And for that I will unfortunately be passing on this. I like this figure but I don't want to spend over $200 on this and have it break on me.
they need to make a starscream that is scaled for holding MP megs just because that would be 1000% insanity and would be an easy way to hype up a "largest transformer" record :D
Believe it or not Starscream did do a Robotech Varitech guardian mode in the G1 cartoon, like he got shot by an Autobot which causes his legs to fly out as he struggles to maintain his jet mode before folding them back.
MP-52 Starscream Version 2.0 is definitely an upgrade, but you're right, it sucks that they didn't include Starscream's face from MP-44 Optimus Prime Version 3.0, it really gave us a nice sneak peek!
I just recently got this figure and I absolutely love it. However as soon as I opened the box and looked at the accessories I immediately noticed something wrong. One of the null rays appeared to be shorter than the other and I took a closer look. Back in the factory or wherever they make these transformers, the person who put it together punched the hole for the pin too far back and it affects the transformation of the null ray to missile mode because there is not enough clearance for the tip of the missile to pass through the bottom. And that really pissed me off due to the fact that I can't fix it. And I saved up so much money to buy this and as soon as I opened the box something was wrong. What should I do? I don't know. Can someone give me some advice or some ideas on what I can do for this. And one more thing, I work at a minimum wage job and I worked so hard for this just for it to come messed up.😩
Well, the real cockpit does end up right where the faux one is, so it doesn't really bothered. It would have been so cool if they went with the Earthrise solution, though.
There are a few nitpicks I have with certain parts of MP-52, but it's a well designed figure. It only needed to be 10% scaled up. Wish the KO corrected this as well as the dodgy ankles.
I like the gerwalk mode, the sticker album has a transforming Starscream on the left side, one of the steps is him in "gerwalk mode". This cover is very iconic to me, Transformers was on TV once a week and I spent a lot of time flipping the album's pages when I was a kid, had lots of missing stickers and that was the only sticker album I ever cared about. And I'm also a big Macross fan...
Takara: includes 'too many' accessories with MP 44 Fans: complain Takara: includes a few less Fans: WhY nO cOrOnAtIoN sEt!? Btw I have this guy I love it and I do think the coronation set should have been included and not an order all 3 seekers bonus I'm just poking fun at one of the most common comments I see. This isn't meant to be taken seriously
I mean, the difference is really in how iconic said accessories are. Starscream's coronation garb? One of his best scenes ever. Many people would display him with it. Optimus Prime with Starscream's head and intakes? Nobody will ever display him like that, for most it would be a complete waste of money. Same thing with the trailer, most people will never use even half the functionality of the thing, but said functionality boosted the price massively. Same reason I personally dislike lights and sounds. Boosts the price for something I will never use and could care less about.
No, and why would you. Problem with Prime Starscreams head is its empty at the back, there's nothing to attach it to Starscreams body, and compared to the 1 he got, it's the exact same, intakes and all.
At first I thought this was gonna be a meh figure cuz I wasn't fan of the back, but after seeing the transformation, accessories and the way it looked in general, well, I this figure amazing, shorter and more expensive than the previous one but definite worth it, don't know why people complain about this new version, it's such an improve to an already nice figure.
Mine's been sitting in the box for a couple of months now and I finally had time to open it up, and I'm quite a bit disappointed actually. There are quite a few QC issues. Thankfully I haven't had any cracks in the plastic yet, but I do have ankles that are useless. They're so loose that the figure can't stand by itself and the stand absolutely pointless for robot mode.

Love this Starscream version. Hope to have it soon.
shame that he didn't come with his coronation crown
Apparently in Japan, if you buy the three seekers and submit proof of purchase, you'll get his coronation gear. I am curious if the old versions stuff will work on him though...
@@bustedsim I'm sure the crown and shoulder pads fit! I think the cape might be a bit tricky though :0
Skywarp wears it better anyways.
This actually lives up to the Masterpiece name. Looks incredible, very clean, and looks like it's fun to transform. I may have to get one. Which also means having to get Skywarp and Thundercracker and probably Ramjet and Thrust. But probably not Dirge, cuz he's a dork.
Yeah screw the only G1 cone head I have
Hey Emgo, another great video. After watching you transform Starscream it seems like the more Takara makes Masterpiece figures more complex to transform the more likely something could break. And for that I will unfortunately be passing on this. I like this figure but I don't want to spend over $200 on this and have it break on me.
Seeing how good this is makes me excited for Thundercracker and Skywarp!
"I AM THE LEADER OF THE FUTURE"
"You couldnt lead _ants_ to a picnic.."
they need to make a starscream that is scaled for holding MP megs just because that would be 1000% insanity and would be an easy way to hype up a "largest transformer" record :D
It should be noted that the faux cockpit is kind of an engineering flex considering the real cockpit ends up directly behind/beneath the faux one.
Believe it or not Starscream did do a Robotech Varitech guardian mode in the G1 cartoon, like he got shot by an Autobot which causes his legs to fly out as he struggles to maintain his jet mode before folding them back.
Definitely an upgarde. They did not include Starscream's face from MP-44 though.
And one more thing, I work at a minimum wage job and I worked so hard for this just for it to come messed up.😩
Contact whoever you bought it from and see if you can get a replacement
@@emgo316 ok thank you emgo. I will
Thundercracker and skywarp would be missing, complementing the seekers
Fun fact - I was using CW Starscreams crown on my old MP mold, but it is too small for this figure....
Smaller figure but bigger head.
I wonder if the old version coronation gear works on him... he seems to have the shoulder ports at least...
Yeah the shoulder might fit but the not the cape as the cape need the back piece to hold and nor the crown, his head is too big for it
Is that paint chip in the air intake? Man I am getting worried about QC issues on this guy. That and all the other reviews.
My air intake has an awful smudge. I'm probably going to return it.
Seems like an awful lot of tight movements during transformation.
Makes me nervous
It's on the flat part right on top. Easy to see in jet mode.
Been waiting all day for this.
Thank you
Looks so much better. Now we wait for the flood of Screamer clones they'll be introducing next 😄
If someone could upscale Newage Lucifer, this would have some heavy competition
I scream, you scream, we all scream for Starscream
I missed that line the "because it's perious oh so precious."
Definitely a better masterpiece than the last one, especially in the robot mode. Great use of the different faces in the skit btw. ;)
OMG 'Screamer's facial expressions!!!!!!! Great job Emgo!!!!!
Well, the real cockpit does end up right where the faux one is, so it doesn't really bothered. It would have been so cool if they went with the Earthrise solution, though.
Looks great. Would be cool if they added a crown and cape as accessories too.
The best of the best figure of Starscream!!
Takara: includes 'too many' accessories with MP 44
Fans: complain
Takara: includes a few less
Fans: WhY nO cOrOnAtIoN sEt!?
Btw I have this guy I love it and I do think the coronation set should have been included and not an order all 3 seekers bonus
I'm just poking fun at one of the most common comments I see.
@@griffinkimball2454 you realise that I'm not being serious right? I mean I explained it in the comment that this was a joke and not seriousm
I hope we can see masterpiece versions of the Unicron trilogy figures eventually
Finally got my hands on this guy. It's my first MP and I'm not sure where to put the extra faces. Is there a storage compartment anywhere?
7:24 “Mayday, mayday Starscreams in flat spin descending out to sea!”
Ever wonder how many thrown boxes are in the corner of emgo’s room?
I'm actually curious would the starscream head that comes with the Optimus prime work with this starscream
No, and why would you. Problem with Prime Starscreams head is its empty at the back, there's nothing to attach it to Starscreams body, and compared to the 1 he got, it's the exact same, intakes and all.
Emgo: I don't want to do the grr walk mode.
Grr walk fans: DO IT!
its worthy though the faux cockpit peice is supposed to have more of a v shape than straight down
yes i know its a small thing but still
At first I thought this was gonna be a meh figure cuz I wasn't fan of the back, but after seeing the transformation, accessories and the way it looked in general, well, I this figure amazing, shorter and more expensive than the previous one but definite worth it, don't know why people complain about this new version, it's such an improve to an already nice figure.
Can MP36 strangle this new MP Starscream? Asking mainly because the small neck stub at 24:51 looks like it could have MP36's fingers wrap around it.
Just picked up Skywarp. Black and purple us definitely the superior color scheme.
You scream, I scream, we all scream for starscream!
Are you ok, Annie? You've been hit by, you've been struck by A smooth criminal
25:04
Emgo: "You can play with the sides of his head if you want"
Me: *Immediately imagines some stop-motion genius recreating the first episode of Invincible and replacing Red Rush with Starscream*
Do you think this version is capable to have the coronation outfit from the previous masterpiece toy?
Agree about the stand you would think they'd know fans would want to pose characters known for flying in flying poses with the effects parts attached!
31:31 "Unfortunately... the operation is successful" I remember that. Salvage.
Hey Emgo,great Starscream voice impression.
He is the best so far..i wonder if fantoys will do one..will you collect all the seekers?
Hi the k.o of this one is out now, kosts about s300 less than the orginal and has improvements like metal landing gear etc.
i really like how hasbro/takara capture those different facial smug face of starscream they nailed it lol
The last face is the face he made when he fired Megatron at Brawn
Emgo can really do a live action starscream voice, its really good!
I already own the Classics-version MP3 and Hasbro MP11, so I'm not going to get this one (especially since it's $280+...) but man it's such a good mold.
