Feels like this was in the making for 40 years. The technology, engineering and technique took a while to make a properly articulated G1 Prime but still look nearly one to one to the original.
@@annoyingoranger100 You’d be surprised. Drop-down hipjoints weren’t a common feature on action figures until SH Figuarts came along and balljoints weren’t a thing until around the 1990’s where they figured out how to make it usable to the point where it’s apart of TF’s most common feature. They probably could have done it years earlier but it’d likely suffer a case of Generations Classic Sonic Syndrome where you can see the similarities to the classic design until you notice something’s off about it when compared against the Mania design. We’d have a G1 Prime that looks more like the box art than the vintage figure since that’s easy to pull up for reference than actually getting out good quality photos of the toy and something more akin to Masters of the Universe Origins.
That's the one I went with. I originally bought both but then saw the reviews and cancelled the toon as it was just so plain looking. Plus, the toy version comes with the trailer.
This is my definitive G1 Prime. I had the G2 version with the sound box on the trailer as a kid. I always wanted one that had cartoon accurate colors. Now I have both Missing Link Primes and it is glorious. Incidentally I'm also turning 40 this year, this is a great throwback gift to myself, because nostalgia is a powerful drug.
I would kill for a missing link Fortress Maximus, with all modern titan articulations, because I never had any FM figure and I want one (and honestly, G1 version is way better than TR).
I doubt Megatron will get the same treatment. Having dealt with a G1 Megatron earlier this year, I honestly don't see how the weak-ass articulation of that could be brought up to modern standards without the figure being made drastically different in the process. Plus, gun mode Megs doesn't really happen much anymore.
Why do people hate it when you rub the rub sign anyway?????? Its what..... Your supposed to do...... With the rub sign BECAUSE ITS A RUB SIGN AND YOUR SUPPOSED TO RUB A RUB SIGN...........
The spectrum on those rub signs goes from black to green to red to purple to blue then to black. So if you rub the sign too much you can actually over heat it straight to black. It's like wearing a mood ring in Texas weather. They look like they don't work because they're too hot.
this... this explains a whole lot of things about a completely unrelated rub-sign based snack toy. and the well known very high body temperature of my friend when I was a kid and absolutely hated the thing...
18:53 - *_Damn... With all three G1 Prime versions: I thought you'd make a prime version of the 3 pointing Spider-men meme for the stinger scene (Oh well: Missed opportunity!)_* 😜
Can't wait for mine to arrive. I got the toy colored one. Planning on using the extra stickers to refresh my classic G1 Prime and put them on display together.
Some months ago, I had a convo with someone on DeviantArt about Mattel's _Masters of the Universe: Origins_ line, which took the vintage toys and gave them modern articulation, and said that Hasbro and/or Takara should do something like that with the vintage Transformers G1 toys. Some days or weeks later, this was announced.
As someone who collects both G1 and modern Transformers I went with the toy accurate version. My Earthrise Prime is toon accurate enough to fill that role, and the toy accurate Missing Link will give me the full G1 experience with the trailer and full accessories.
Honestly, watching this review made the toon colors version grow on me a LOT more, I'd love to get me hands on one of these guys! He's so good looking!
I don't have these in hand yet but already my figure of the year. I've wanted this exact toy to exist for decades. C'mon Hasbro Pulse when are you shipping them to me? I always forget how much nicer the chrome looks than just silver paint, it looks more prestige. Also the diecast to give them some heft. I miss that in mainline figures. Also not to be all Gewunner but they really haven't ever topped the G1 box aesthetic, have they?
That skit at the end makes me want a missing link Ironhide and ratchet where they finally give them heads. I would faster than you could say "but Prime!!"
I used to own the original G 1 Optimus Prime and played with it all the time, so I was very surprised to see a modern version of the original G 1 and was very happy, thank you for doing this ❤😊👏👍
I've eagerly anticipated your review of the Takara Tomy Transformers C-01 Missing Link Optimus Prime with Trailer, especially after THOROUGHLY enjoying your review of the KBBMP10-V Optimus Prime review! I LOVE the figure, an exhilarating replacement for the G1 reissue I had years earlier, but lost due to misfortune. Al hail Optimus Prime!!!!
I got the c-02 for my birthday and I love him. I only wish the molded parts were painted too, since I think the stickers would look silly on the molded plastic. He's sooo good.
I love the figure but I feel like they missed an opportunity to further hide those front wheels. Still, it was my favorite childhood toy and I love it.
No I'm saying in the cartoon the wheels disappeared, and since they had already hinged the wheels the way they did they could have kept going and folded them away like the masterpiece and more modern figures do.
This will be my very first G1 Prime after not being able to buy any of the reissues (even the Wal-Mart one), and I couldn't be happier to get this! I can't wait to put my 3rd party diaclone figures in the cab section and the trailer base!
One cool detail you missed pointing out was the matrix chamber has a hole in the back of it, so you can shine a light into it and the matrix lights up, at least on the toon version. I didn't get the toy accurate version, so I don't know if its matrix can light up.
Takara, we need a Missing Link Ironhide and Ratchet, now!! (And this was going to be my comment before I saw the end skit) And of course a Megatron but we all know the headaches surrounding that and that you’ll do it if you can. Ironhide and Ratchet are what you don’t know we need
the good news is Takara is making these, so they can 100% make a G1 Megatron with the gun mode. they don't have the US regulations. same goes for stores selling imported versions as far as I know.
My theory…MY TRANSFORMERS THEORY…for what a Missing Link G1 Bumblebee might be like is maybe they might take the base model of Kingdom Core Class Bumblebee, mix it with all the good aspects from similar small scaled or mid scaled modern (or semi-modern) G1 inspired Bumblebee toys (like maybe the rugged off-road VW Bumblebee from the Pretenders line, or the Titans Return Bumblebee), and use those aspects to update and modify the classic toy/reissue design with modern core class articulation! They might have to make some changes like make the size just a bit bigger, and if they go with both a toon and toy version, the front wheels might be engineered differently based on which version. The toy version might have the wheels on the hands, probably with tiny fold out hands, while the toon version might have different arms and feet, with the front wheels being part of the feet, and either staying in place like the core class toy, or fold down under the feet like Earthrise. I do have an idea for the head, though: maybe the flap at the back of the car might fold 180 degrees so the head, which most likely would be separate from the panel, could be easily accessed for articulation! But these are my ideas based on how awesome this Missing Link Optimus Prime figure turned out! (Speaking of which, I’m thinking of buying a G2 Prime Trailer (the black one with “Optimus Prime printed on the side in shiny letters”) because while the gray one is classic, the black one is just so insane and kinda ridiculous looking in the best 90s way possible that giving it to my Missing Link Prime is the only option in my mind! Also, I thought the colorful stickers on the inside of the trailer were part of the 90s aesthetic, but apparently, those stickers were part of the original 80s toy set as well! Either way, I’m giving my Optimus Prime a G2 trailer! 😁
Love this OP I got both 2 weeks ago but only opened cartoon version now please Takara make missing link g1 megatron (please 🙏) here's to another 40 plus years🎉🎉🎉
Emgo love you! Love you videos been watching for almost 10 years! Not sure if youll see this, but for you and everyone else i got mine this week and just want to share that the feet do actually move up 😊 there is a little heel tab that pops down. So there ya go 😁
The extra stickers, according to a interview with the designer in a Japanese hobby magazine, are there for people to refurbish their original G1 prime.
so lots of reviews of this guy already had to check out yours and to my surprise mines arriving at bbts’s warehouse soon so i’ll be getting mine so can’t wait
Poor G1 Megatron will never get this kind of treatment. Maybe G2 green and purple tank Megatron? With a G1 Megatron paint job? Maybe Chrome like the original gun was?
Hasbro got room for improvement before they release their version of this. You got enough space to rotate the wheels upward to hide into the torso. There's also that extra space in the alt mode's back that u could rotate downward for the crotch to slide in to position. There's also extra space in alt mode for the thighs to be thicker. I can see the improvements 3rd party KO companies 3D printing those improvements. As for the G1 Megatron improvements with the hips&legs being wider. Also hiding the trigger properly like rotating it backward with the gun's nozzle being moved into the correct position.
I grew up with the Unicron trilogy. However this is pretty cool. I think I’ll get one and pose it with MP10. Or more likely get the Toy accurate version and give that to my dad as a Father’s Day gift
Love it. The only thing that prevented me from pre ordering these was the rather high price tag. I couldn't justify getting them at those super over inflated costs. But if we do get more I'd like to see all the insectacons including Ransack, Chopshop, Barrage, and Venom get this level of upgrades. And hopefully they won't try to price gouge anywhere as badly as these. These poor figures sat in pre order pergatory for months on hasbro pulse because of it.
I've been wanting to see something like this since the 30th anniversary ever since I saw someone at TFW2005 making articulated customs of G1 figures. Come to think of it, I remember someone made upgrade kits for Ratchet & Ironhide that gave them heads & fists: would love to see a Missing Link version of those two. But why stop there? Imagine the entire '84 line rendered like this, keeping the wonky proportions while giving them articulation & extras that weren't available with 1980s toy engineering. They've found a license to print money!
Here's to 40 years of Prime Time
Till all are one.
Pretty much Takara took all they learned from their masterpiece figures and applied it to a G-1 classic frame. Brilliant.
Feels like this was in the making for 40 years. The technology, engineering and technique took a while to make a properly articulated G1 Prime but still look nearly one to one to the original.
@@rayvenkman2087 It's a great figure and homage, but there is no universe where the engineering for this took 40 years.

That toy colored one looks so good with the molded details.
That's the one I went with. I originally bought both but then saw the reviews and cancelled the toon as it was just so plain looking. Plus, the toy version comes with the trailer.
Agreed.
That’s the one I went with too. Not too fond with the golden matrix though. Would’ve preferred if it had the anime colours matrix instead.
Megatron will be quietly crying in the corner
The ONLY thing that could make this better is having it be signed by Cullen himself lol
What about not just Peter Cullen, but also Latin American VA Edgar Wald and Japanese VA Tessho Genda? That'd be extra epic
INSANE NOSTALGIA COMING!!!
Now Takara should do everyone else from G1. EVERYONE!!!
Agree I'm waiting for Missing Link Six Shot, Metroplex and Astrotrain.
I would kill for a missing link Fortress Maximus, with all modern titan articulations, because I never had any FM figure and I want one (and honestly, G1 version is way better than TR).
oh boy...
;p

Why do people hate it when you rub the rub sign anyway??????
Its what..... Your supposed to do...... With the rub sign BECAUSE ITS A RUB SIGN AND YOUR SUPPOSED TO RUB A RUB SIGN...........

This vintage toy version has now completely new modification.
The Missing Link is a new modified version of the old G1 Toy.

He is so awesome and the first time I posed him in a way the G1 version could not felt WEIRD! I have had a G1 Prime since I was 5 back in 84
Optimus: much like myself, a true classic never dies
Ironhide: you have died many times 😐
The next best thing to celebrate 40 years probably is articulated G1 devy for me... Really happy with missing link
I want the cartoon version with a trailer. And holy crap, actual firing missiles.
This reminds of the earlier reviews. "If you don't have a g1 prime in your collection, your collection is trash" 😅
The plural of "matrix" is "matrices," so there ya go.
may-tre-sees 👍
I love that skit at the ene op is self Absorbed Ass and optimus prime is more of a hasbro cash cow than bumblebee
Love this guy even though I don't own it & loved the Mythbusters reference in the skit

i love the facet that there is still places for the diaclon people to ho into the takara toys .

so glad that the hands aren't like that anymore

please continue calling thoe rubber like tires rubber tires 'cause it's easy to remember
Impossible toys g1 possible bumblebee would look good with this
This is such a brilliant idea and Im surprised it hasnt been done before. I hope they do more of these
They are doing something like that with the old school ninja turtles toys now
do, can we all agree that this figure, beside being a love letter to fans, is precious?
Wow, cant wait till mine are shipped
For literally years I thought that this was possible, ... now it is a reality.
"You really live in your own world don't you?" "Yes, and it's an awesome world" OMG I'll totally remember this line and use it IRL.

so lots of reviews of this guy already had to check out yours and to my surprise mines arriving at bbts’s warehouse soon so i’ll be getting mine so can’t wait
2:00 I assume those cards are meant to be attached to a lanyard.
Nostalgia 80's is back?!!!
Love your skits dude. Don’t ever stop being you. 👍🏽
Missed out on the Spider-Man meme with G1 Optimus Primes
I don’t miss it at all 😂
😆
How many caught the Adam Savage quote from Mythbusters?
Poor G1 Megatron will never get this kind of treatment. Maybe G2 green and purple tank Megatron? With a G1 Megatron paint job? Maybe Chrome like the original gun was?

NO SAD PACMAN? The Horror!!!!
Can't wait for Missing Link Ironhide, Brawn etc.
If they release the megatron I... i... idk what I'd do probably buy it
I wish you could show between vintage trailer and retro trailer inside…..
It looks exactly the same minus the roller launching gimmick.
Missing Link Starscream

I want LEGO to do the same with Bionicle sets.
An excellent review. Thank you
Wonder if they're going to do the same on G1 Megatron...

Friction brings heat .thanks 4 your videos emgo

l’ve been waiting for this one.
