The more I listen to Rubberneck over the years, the more I appreciate the guitar tone on it. That intro to “Away” still raises the hairs on the back of my neck. So many brawny roaring growls outta those licks and leads on that album. A P90 equiped guitar and a pushed Marshall valve amplifier is an incredible tone. It snarls, it jangles, it crunches, yet is still articulate enough for subtle attack variations, palm mutes, and hammer on/pull off rhythms.

Great history lesson, thank you for producing this! One small thing I noticed...The timeline might be a bit off on the mixing and producing as you refer to the foo fighters producer/ mixer. . Rubberneck was released in August of 1994 and foo fighters first album was recorded in October in 1994 after Rubberneck was already released. So the producers/ mixer (Tom Rothrock and Rob Schnapf) couldn't have worked on the foo fighters before the toadies but only after they worked with the toadies. I may be wrong but I believe Dave Grohl wrote and recorded all the songs of the first album on his own before working with anyone too so any producers would have likely just been mastering or polishing it up after the toadies album was released. Still great production and if I remember correctly the mixing on Possum Kingdom I believe was done by Andy Wallace who also mixed Nevermind. Not sure which he mixed first but I would guess Nevermind. I actually found the song possum kingdom because I was so enthralled with the mixing on Nevermind and wanted to see what else this guy did because it sounded perfect and appropriate and you can kind of feel the same tone on Possum Kingdom as you can on some of the songs on Nevermind.
I listened to the Toadies for the first time in years the other day and now this is in my feed. I know your listening. I want to win the Powerball. Thank you in advance.

They’re literally still making great music… they play at Cains Ballroom every year
Great history lesson, thank you for producing this!
Great band. Every album rocks, front to back. It's good to see them get some attention here.
Possum Kingdom still holds up well in 2021. I still turn it up if it comes on the radio or on Spotify.
I listened to the Toadies for the first time in years the other day and now this is in my feed. I know your listening. I want to win the Powerball. Thank you in advance.
YES !!!! U did it!!! Thanks bud !!!! Been requesting this one for a year :)
Toadies and Burden Brothers still on my all time favorites. Stellar live shows!
It took me a few years to get and understand the lyrics too possum kingdom.
And holy cow they're dark.
I saw them at the Louisville Palace with Bush many moons ago and was sold. They blew Bush away. My friends and I were astounded. This band had been a personal favorite for years and it's a shame what was done to them. Heck I love that second album too. Thank you for doing this video. Excellent.
Execellent video as always. I loved the album Rubberneck. Its always fascinating to learn of a bands rise and fall, and all the crap that they go through.
THE TOADIES RULE!! THEM, HELMET, QUICKSAND, AND SLEEP.
RUBBERNECK IS A CLASSIC ALBUM.
HELMET!!! So good!
@@denawagner360 hell yeah!! Helmet rules!! Love the album, "betty"
So cool, I live in Tampa and remember this band. Such potential too bad they didn't get stronger label support.
Thank you for this!!! Been waiting for this forever!!!!
Me too!!!
The toadies never went away. Great albums
When "I come from the water" comes on from my playlist volume goes up high and I'm smiling.
Huge fan. Rubber neck, hell below stars above great albums. There’s a lot of good songs on both albums.
I had the pleasure of seeing them live locally in east Texas and Louisiana 5 times around 2010-2014.
I catch these guys any chance I get. Saw them last at Billy Bob's in Ft. Worth..... still a super talent. I will say they have a completely different sound now.
They're great live , one of my favorite shows
One of the best bands to come out of my hometown, Fort Worth, TX.
Toadies are still out rocking . Playing this fall
The song Tyler is one of the greatest things ever.
Agreed, I always thought it was there biggest hit.
Tyler was me favorite back in the day, but now I think the number one spot goes to their song "Pink"...
