- In this video I do a 2 year review of my Kubota L3901 Tractor and talk about why I chose Kubota over John Deere, Mahindra, New Holland, Case, Masey Ferguson or Yanmar, and I find the Buck I'm after this year!

Good spread on that buck, I'd put a mark on him too! I gotta admit, sometimes I question whether I should've gone with the 2501 over the 3301 just because if the DPF, but I've now gone through my first regen without a hiccup and as long as they're all that smooth then I foresee nothing but good times on it. I went with Kubota for a few reasons. The US factories are within 20 miles of my house and they employ hundreds, if not thousands, of fellow Georgians and that gives me some appreciation to Kubota there. Second, that reputation they have...I've never personally met anyone with one who didn't like it. Third, they own and make every piece of equipment to build that tractor. No green tractor with a Yanmar engine. Funny story, years ago in Franklin, NC there was a guy with a Mahindra in his front yard with a huge sign over it saying "Mahindra tractors are junk". I used to drive past it on the way to my dads cabin on weekends and see it every time I went by. That was before I was even thinking of getting a tractor but that always stuck with me so when I started looking at tractors I had already eliminated Mahindra based on that. Anyway, my dealer has been very fair to me, so no complaints.
Great video I own the 3901 also ,I’ve had no issues whatsoever. I’ve used and run John deer tractors my whole life but when I compared the American made kubota to the foreign made foreign powered John deer . There was no choice I’d rather drive an American tractor with a Japanese name than a Japanese tractor with an American name . The deer is powered by yanmar and at best reviews are mixed .
how does the tractor help with firewood?
@Sorgel there are no more small tractors that are actually American made with American parts. They may have a American name but they will have non-American parts. Times have changed. I guess your sort of correct with someone like John Deere because with the profit they make on selling their green painted pile of mainly foreign made parts they do deposit that money into their American bank account. It's still not a real American tractor. Times have changed. Cut and dried.
Hi Greg, now that it's been a couple of years how is the Kubota 3301 tractor working out? I was just curious if you have had any issues that you would care to share?
There's plenty of reasons to buy one tractor over another brand, mainly, who is closest to your house, and do you trust the people you are buying from? I do have to laugh at Kubota owners who try to rag John Deere for using Japanese Yanmar engines. Literally every single part on a Kubota is Japanese. They are a Japanese company. They have a Japanese name.lol. I too live in Georgia, 30 miles from the Kubota factory. There are signs all around it that say, "now hiring, $15 hr". Deere has a factory in Augusta Georgia, too. I'm sure it's exactly the same. So the "made in america" thing is a total joke. All small tractors are assembled by unskilled laborers in warehouses in the south from Japanese parts. I too looked at the Kubota L3901, but I couldn't get past the fact that John Deere makes a 3025 D thats only 25 hp, weighs 300 lbs more than the 3901, has a higher loader capacity, and costs almost $10k less. needless to say I bought the Deere. But I'd gladly buy a Kubota if they made me a better deal.
I've had my Kubota BX25D for almost 3 years and it's a great little tractor. I have the backhoe on it and have used that more than the FEL. Takes a little longer with only 13HP but gets the job done. Thanks for the videos!
He is right about it's a buyers choice and depending on if your happy with the product. I personally own a John Deere subcompact, compared to the others, JD beats them hands down. I can get on and off my 56" lawn cutter without ever getting down. Drive on, drive off. Put a quick hitch on the 3 pt and your set... best money I ever spent. 4 years and going, not a single problem out of my JOHN DEERE!

Great video! I purchased a new L3830HST Kubota back in 2006. Currently it has +/-650 hours on it and other than fluids and filter changes it has been flawless. It even has the original battery after 11 years. I think anyone considering a tractor purchase should at least look at Kubota. As to the emissions equipment, I'm glad I don't have it but if I needed another tractor it wouldn't be a deal breaker and I would get the size tractor I needed
Basic homeowner now with a Kubota BX with 130 hours on it. Similar issue, wandered around in the JD dealership for ten minutes, and no one asked to help me. Kubota - similar distance - asked when I walked in. Dealer, Mason Tractor North Ga has been very good through a couple of issues. I found an easy way to remove and install the mid-mower even though it’s not drive over.
I had a small J Deere 20 hp that i bought used. I have a lot of water oaks on hy property which break apart sometimes after a lot of rain . The little JD would only lift about 500 lbs. I went shipping for a new tractor and while studying i found that the deere had a plastic hood and an aluminum rear axle housing and plastic floor board. While at the Kubota dealer i kept telling the salesman that i was going to look at jd and i would let him know until he made the deal so sweet that i came home with the 3901 the same as you have. I have had it about a year now and its a great tractor and does what i need it to. I'm glad i did'nt go green.

I bought a new L 2501 HST last year. I bought the 25HP because it has no EPA mandated controls. Any motor 25HP and under is exempt. I bought a Kubota for many reasons. I have a good dealer close to me, I got a better deal and O percent financing through Kubota. It is far far more tractor than the JD 3032E for less money and the local MF dealer wouldn't deal at all. I wanted the L3901 Kubota but the dealer told me the 2501 would do everything I needed without any issues ...He told the truth. I will not run as big of a chopper and it won't work as fast but it is a beast and I have no regrets.
Retire Soon I did the same and no regrets. I also added wheel extensions which are perfect for this frame (same as 3901). I also added windshield wiper fluid as ballast to the rear wheels. Rolling this 2501 is NOT an option! The guy that built my extensions did a fantastic job. I don’t baby my tractor like Brother Mike does his.

Good video and great advice. Of course I am biased as an L3800 owner. I bought just before the Tier 4 came out so I would not have to deal with what you described. But the regeneration cycles do sound rather uneventful as you point out.
My previous tractor was a Deere but no doubt today Kubota has JD beat for compact to mid size tractors.
I've never seen that much firewood so neatly stacked. I respect the hell out of that coming from someone who has a dedicated wood shed with cedar siding for 6 stalls of roughly 12 cords of wood.

I have the flintstone version of the modern tractor, 1983 Kubota G3200, this unit is still running, plowing snow here in Nova Scotia and cutting grass every year. the reason that I keep it is because nothing major ever goes wrong with it, the dealer can still provide parts and the tractor still runs like new, this year it needed some touch up paint and a yoke for the deck driveshaft, dealer had it in three days. can't beat that.
Wow, that's a couple years old. That's a Garden Tractor though correct? They never offered a front end loader for those did they?
I have a 3830 HST with a loader. Perfect for my use. It is a 2004 and the FACTORY battery is still cranking her . Fine tractor. THE orange equipment to own.
We just signed papers on a b2650. We initially wanted something bigger but my father is terrified of the emissions crap. Anyways we got the loader and a backhoe so now I'm looking forward to playing with our new toy.

Great choice. We have a 2920 and LOVE it. The emissions requirements on the larger machines killed their reliability. If you find yourself needing more tractor get an old one.

In my country (malaysia) they still selling an old kubota model L1501 for $4000 (usd) that model is manufactured from 1975 - 1978 in japan. That alone remind me how good the kubota is. You can see even a giant company like BOBCAT use kubota engine on their product.

PTO switches first and verify the PTO isn't in the on position if you have a no start.

Just got my L3560 HST with bucket, forks, and brush mower. Why did I pick this over JD? I'm a 3rd generation JD owner, my grandfather was the dealer in town. But, when I started shopping around for a tractor in this size range, Kubota really seemed to be the best price/performance of the bunch. I have no problem with DPF, at least conceptually. There is one great advantage, no smoke. You can park in your garage without the ceiling turning black. The engine starts like a dream, even when cold, and its quiet. This one has the fuel filler positioned on the side now, a lot more convenient. I'm learning a lot from your vids, keep up the great work.

We have a L3301 and the DPF has only gone into regen 3 times in 2 years. Just run it at about 2200rpm, work the engine, that is what it is designed for. Kubota is 100% Kubota built front to rear, not parts from other manufacturers.
I have owned seven Kubota tractors in the last twenty years . Presently I have a Grand L 6060 and a Bx 23 S. The only thing I would say about any tractor is know the job you want it to do and study the spec. on the tractor and talk to dealers and owners.... just because you have a 40 hp tractor and you want a front snow blower, make sure the front pto hp will do the job with the spec snowblower and the snow you want to deal with.. Kubota is as go as they come, have had other brands and always come back to Kubota

I have an 55hp Mahindra and it's a beast! Alot of John Deere and Mahindra are sold here in the South. I bought my Mahindra before all that Dpf stuff was put on them, it's a direct drive so I get every bit of it's HP.
I bought an '02' B21 Loader/Backhoe with about 1200 hours about a month ago. No regrets.

No regen on the Branson. I decided on the 4520R. Got 53 hrs on it and happy so far.
How many HP is the 4520? 45?

I've got a farm here in Arkansas. My main tractor is a Massey Ferguson 383 cab tractor (83hp) because I usually do bigger jobs, lots of bucket work. My dad has a kubota 34 hp kubota that I use a lot for smaller jobs. Its a good tractor, but when I'm in a field all day long with high grass it tends to overheat quickly because the screen over the radiator gets clogged quickly. You'll have to get off the tractor and clean it several times in a days work. More annoying than anything unless you forget about checking it and let it get hot like I did once, took a while to get her cooled back down. Other than that its a good little tractor, oh, except for that seat switch, I have the same problem on mine, slip around or lean the wrong way and she wants to shut her down. Overall, great little tractors. I also have a ZD1211 (zero turn) with the 72 inch deck. Its a beast. Before I bought it, everyone said dont get the 72" deck its too big. Well after owning mine for 3 years, I tell people this, don't get the 60 inch deck, its too small, lol. But it just all depends on your needs, I mow about 15 acres weekly with mine, so I needed a wide cut and a diesel
Don't know what I'd do without my L3901 no problem with emissions either and your right it's a bunch of crap
Thanks for the videos Mike. I live in Perry County PA and I'm on my second Kubota ... a B3200. I settled on Kubota because a friend who works on tractors for a living told me in his opinion they had the best motors and mechanical systems. I really work mine in all seasons mowing, making food plots, driveway maintenance...and pretty much anything else I'm working on around the property. BTW that's a great looking buck...good luck in archery.

Brother Mike. If your tractor won’t start, even 2 seconds after shutting it off, re-position the forward/reverse peddle, it also has a switch which if not in neutral will interlock starting of the engine!
I have to say. It's nice to see someone actually taken care of their investment like this. I've been asked lots hey why do you clean your weedeater or your mower when your gonna take it back out tomorrow. Well one is so when I resale I get top dollar. Next bc I like my stuff to look good. Back when I lived in Illinois I had a Ford 3000, with loader, 2 wheel drive, sold it and now live in southern Florida. I live now on a few acres and we went an looked at different brands. First looked at John Deere, this one model had many problems with their front ends leaking an asked the dealer an he acted like he never heard of any problems going on! Didn't like the fact that Deere rearends are aluminum too light weight. Went to Kubota and they weren't friendly at all. So I bought a LS tractor brand new without all the new emissions and end loader, picks up and more power than the Deere, it's a G3033H, no problems at all. They are all made overseas and the New Holland goes down the same assembly line as LS ones do except they split off towards the end. All 3 dealers are all very close by.
I was told when researching buying a tractor, not only are you buying a tractor you are buying a dealership. If the sales staff, and service department suck you will always hate that tractor....if the sales staff and service department is great you'll love your tractor. Without the dealership your tractor could easily become a very expensive lawn ornament LOL. If you can't fix it or get parts to fix it its not much use....course attachments, implements, and accessories are a must, pretty boring and non-productive to just buy a tractor without anything else to go with it LOL
The JD dealer close to where I live was terrible, had really no interest in showing me any of the tractors I inquired about, and I felt like I was interrupting their time sitting at their desk doing nothing....never bothered going to that dealer again.
Guess I'll go with Kubota, at least the dealership was very welcoming and the staff was great. Even though it was the first time ever going to that dealer I felt like I was welcomed and treated as though I'd been a long time customer. They also have some pretty good reviews too so that is a plus over the quite negative reviews over another close Kubota dealer and the previous mentioned JD dealer. Another reason I'm going with Kubota, one of our old neighbors had an old B-Series Kubota for a few years, then moved up to an L-Series. He loved them, used them all the time not just for himself, but he would go around every spring and fall and roto-till all of our gardens for us for no charge, he'd always stop by and share his vegetables with us that he grew, he was such a great neighbor, I sure miss him. He would come by in the winter when the snow was deep and plow out our driveways for us too.
I also am a Kubota owner I have a 1983 L4150 (50 hp 5 cylinder engine) it has a loader bucket and a Laurin cab with heat and air it still works very well and has lots of power it is built like a tank all metal. I bought a similar 50 hp to replace the 4150 I bought a 2016 L4760 with a loader bucket 1055 and Kubota cab loaded, it is CCHST with the 4 cyl engine, the 4760 is mostly plastic and stuck out lights and mirrors I will need to keep the 4150 to do the woods bush hogging, I have been trying to be easy on the new Kubota but I have a few dents in the hood already, I have had to let the new Kubota set and regenerate the diesel particulate filter more often than I like but I find if you keep the engine rpm above 2000 it gets dirty a whole lot less. For the most part I am happy with the Kubota's but I also have a 2008 John Deere SC310 Backhoe and by far the John Deere is the Cadillac in performance and helpful features. The reason we went with the Kubota's first tractor was recommended by my Uncle a Farmer and a Kubota fan and the Kubota 4150 has served us well and it is still an awesome tractor and it has more power than the 4760 and none of the fancy instrumentation and controls of the new Kubota's. A few things where the John Deere out smarts the Kubota is on bucket control, all tractors have float on the bucket control but the Deere has an auto level, snap the bucket control lever to the 9 o'clock position after you dump your load and as your return to the pile the bucket self levels and the other control that is nice is the Deere has a needle pointer back on the right hand bucket arm outside of the cab it has the position of the flat of the loader bucket, the needle is right there easy to see and pointing at level horizontal when it is actually at that position, another bucket feature the Deere has is a dampening feature, you know some times you are carrying a load in the bucket over a rough road and the bucket wants to bounce up and down, Deere hydraulics will dampen that bouncing if you turn that feature on, it makes carrying a load on a rough road a lot smoother no more bouncing you up and down on the seat. The old 4150 had a bracket welded on the top of the bucket and when that top of that plate was level the bottom of the bucket was level. The new 4760 has a rod in a tube linkage system that uses two bent tabs back up above the hood on the right side to show level when the tabs are flush but its at a bad angle and very hard to see. The front attachment quick connect on the new Kubota is sweet and I also have a set of forks for moving pallets. We have good dealers for the Kubota's so that is why I stayed with Kubota. Something else you may be interested in; I also do my own firewood and used to sell firewood with my Father and brothers years ago, but to me as I get older I am trying to work smarter and one thing that was not smart was all the handling of the firewood, to remedy that I found some plastic pallets and had steel angle frames made for the pallets so now I basically have a steel frame, on a pallet that can handle a half cord of wood, frame has 1-1/2"x 1-1/2" x 1/8" angle and spread steel on two sides. So I can take the pallet with the forks out to the woods and fill up the pallet with cut and split wood, and then I can take the pallet out to a sunny spot somewhere and let it dry for the summer and when I need it for the wood stoves I can take the pallet to the house or the barn and set it in on the concrete floor or set the pallet on snowmobile dollies and wheel it over besides the wood stove, so the only time I handle the firewood is to put it in the pallet, and to take it out of the pallet to put it in the wood stove. It is now 2020 and we are back with Kubota! I was going to buy a RK tractor because of the specs and price. I bought a Kubota because of the 0% financing and the prospect of a better re-sale value in the future. Also the RK dealer did not deliver (a 3rd party could do it for a price), but I worried about getting service. Also my Kubota dealer was a mile away, and the RK dealer was 36 miles. I paid more for the Kubota, but because I was getting a loan, the 0% financing made it a little cheaper! I have only had one minor problem in almost a year (bolts for the throttle lever came loose after a few hours!) - the dealer came out and fixed it.
Buy kubota lx2610 don’t need one that big. Great video and buck good luck

Debating between a kubota, kioti, or mahindra. Bushhogging maybe 5 acres with about 60 acres of timber. Really don't need a huge tractor, but would definitely use bushhog, loader, bucket, grapple , tiller and posthole digger
I agree about the dealer i have a very good dealer where i got my Kubota he wasn't pushing the product but explained the difference between each model and what was best for my use and that the b1620would do everything I need without buying a more expensive and bigger tractor.yes a bigger one might have more weight and traction but load the FEL and box and it pulls anything even better than my 4x4daihatsu.love your videos
i choose kubota my self because there the most cheapest and afordable price then other brands plus other brands are over priced comparing kubotaplus kubota dealers usually give customer a great deals
I have the same tractor, Love it. I recomend getting the pallet forks for it, they are a game changer, and pretty cheep. You could even build a wood box on top of a pallet so you can haul more wood with it. Also recomend getting a stearing wheel spinner, makes it a lot easier to stear while operating the loader. Great videos!

I took your advice and bought a Kubota 46 HP with a 4 in 1 bucket a frail mulcher, fork tynes, post hole digger, carry all and 500 kg counter weight but now I have to get one of those box ploughs great informative vids

I usually clean it up at least once a month if not more, Especially after brush hogging when it's dry out, I'm covered in dirt and so is the tractor lol
I have a Kubota L3830 and it does everything I need to do. I did not like the way they had the headlights so low so I just added different lights in the brush gard other than that I would not buy anything but a Kubota. Very well built tractor.
Hi Mike, been watching your channel for some time, keep up the great work. I found your channel due to your Kubota. I have been waffling back and forth Deere vs Kubota. I have owned several John Deere's and grew up on a farm that was all green. However the build quality of these tractors got me to change my color. I was looking at a 3025e vs a L2501. I am one of those guys that purchased a smaller machine to avoid emissions. Working around larger trucks and equipment we have had some issues. Nothing crazy but my decision was based more on long term reliability. Clean fuel and filters and she should take care of ya. Anyways thanks again for the videos. Love the channel.

I am about to move out of a 2002 New Holland TC30 likely moving to a MX 4800. My point in comenting is if you a firewood guy you need a Ambo GRM Grapple! Im not a sales guy, Im a firewood guy from Whatcom county Washington and I love this grapple more then the tractor! If you like to fell, buck, and clean up a GRM grapple will double your tractor love!
Hey Mike, Steve over in New Sewickley. I am still running the B2150 I bought in 1996. 1500+ hours. Looks like a junkyard relic compared to yours. Don't have the heart to upgrade it. Maintain 25 acres, 1/4 mile gravel driveway and miles of trails with it. Thanks for the video.

I know people have had Chinese tractors for decades and hardly had any breakdown with the price of quarter of what the branded tractors are worth! It’s all about use and maintenance

Another good video. I asked the hp on this tractor on another video you did. That said, you just answered my question. I guessed it at 40 hp. As you stated here, seems like a good unit all the around. Thanks for making these videos, really enjoy them.

hey been a subscriber short time, and I see a tone of your RK vids. I see this then compare to the RK. Is it a case where you still a kabota man, but have a deal with RK (not bad if that's the case cool in fact) just wanting to understand in your view RK .vs. Kabota?
Iv had my Kubota tractor for 16 years. it's a L3010 it's been a great tractor. But my dealer sucks. But now I only use it to mow my 5 acres . it only has 400 hours on it & there are no trees on my property, it's old farm land. But if I had to do it all over again, I would by a Kubota, just not from the same dealer. Its been a great tractor.

Looks like you got it all mapped out,enjoy.Buy quality and buy once.Buy the best you can afford,thats my motto.I run Kubota L2501,zero turn and mini ex.,I've always had good luck with proper maint. and the resale or trade in is very good.I do find you have to be careful with the L525 loader on the tractor,i believe it is built a bit light,and never,ever lift without an attachment on the loader.The Japanese have got the refinement and the fit and finish pretty much perfected.I run BUSH HOG,60",52" tiller,60"finish mower,and work in the woods,the Kubota does it all,as long as you know its capabilities.If you criticize a Kubota,chances are you can't afford one.Just my opinion.

Here in Australia D.P.F's have been a nightmare, Ford, Mazda, and in particular Toyota have had issues with there commercial vehicles in regards to the D.P.F, hope the Kubota has it dialled in Mike,
Your right mike ran heavy equipment my whole life and each brand has there assets some were better for loading or grading or just pushing but the next guy can feel totally different it’s all about your preference it’s all what you feel comfortable about love videos I wish you were my next door neighbors to come over to shoot the shirt once in a while

Great points Mike. I own Kubota, Ford, Case, and John Deere. They are all great machines. There are things that I like and don't like about all of them. It comes down to personal preference. My newest purchase was a Kubota L2501 because of the lack of emission junk that has to be put on tractors. Thank you for addressing that, by the way.
I cannot walk into either my John Deere dealer or my Kubota dealer and not be greeted before I can get both feet inside of the door. A local Mahindra dealer is also the same way. Most dealers will go out of their way to accommodate or help you in any way that they can. Service after the sale means sales after the service.
I am not one who thinks that one brand is better than the other. My last purchase was a Kubota L2501DT. I was also dealing hard on a Mahindra. Ultimately, the Kubota won out. I think that I would have been happy with the Mahindra, but I liked the fact that Kubota made the whole shooting match when it came to my tractor.

I got a kubota b2320. I have a lot less land then you but this thing is a work horse. I do wish the fel could lift more then 500 pounds but then it would tip over if that was the case. I plow with it in the winter I have a mowing deck with pto bagger for fall leaves and grass mowing. York rake for land grooming. Snow blower and 3 pt trailer hitch. I like your vid on the carry all for firewood I'm gonna get one of those today since the fel is small for carrying large loads. I do want to invest in a chipper. I was thinking woodmax pto chipper. I just can't drop the 2600$ right now. Great vids and keep up the vids!
I LOVE my little 1025R John Deere. With that said, I certainly could have easily bought a Kubota as well. Both dealers are about 4 miles from my house. My biggest reason why I chose the JD, was the damn Kubota dealer didn't seem to want my business. Terrible customer service. I emailed both companies withing a few minutes of each other, and I've never heard back from the Kubota dealer. At the end of the day, I think the actual tractors are about the same quality.

I just bought a 10 acre property where atleast 5 acres is slightly sloped. I'm looking for best bang for my buck and what I can get away with. Ive been looking at the Kubota BX2680 with bush hog, mower deck and tiller. Do you think this would be my best purchase? I'm just getting started and trying to soak everything I need to know up. Your advice is very much appreciated!
I saw that commercial about the Plastic hood on the JD also, that was a good one... FYI Mike, dont know if you are aware of the Woodsman Field Day in Boonville NY in the middle of August. You will be amassed on the amount of equipment in one location & you can work out some pretty good deals on attachments. The vendors dont wont to bring that equipment back home with them... Just want to pass that info on to your and all of your viewers... Chief

I agree with you on the Kubota. I've had my B3350 for almost two years. My only regret was that I didn't get the backhoe at the same time. I just ordered the backhoe last week, the dealer picked it up Monday and it's coming home tomorrow. Can't wait to get to digging'! I have the DPF also and haven't had any issues other than I need to run the RPM's up higher than I'd like or else I have regens going every couple hours. Now THAT is annoying. When I'm ready to put him away and he calls for a regen, I just decide I'm going to keep working and find something else to do with it. Sure, give me another excuse to play around on my tractor! - Sharon (yep, a female loves her tractor too) :)

I have an L5740 and a B3350. Both are cab tractors. The 5740 does not have the DPF. It starts and runs great at any temperature. My 3350 coughs and runs on two or three cylinders for several seconds when I start it no matter what the outside temperature is. Does yours do that? My 3350 seldom does a regen probably due to running a Land Pride RDR1672 mower most of the time at rated RPM.
Something to check is the HST cooler return line hose that goes under the radiator. Check it for cracks ... You likely need to pull the battery no big deal on a 3901. I was not too impressed it was not even an oil resistant hose.Replacement was though...
Dam nice Bucks all 3 of them...i myself am a John Deere loyalist ,, but its like you mentioned,, all about what you as a individual find important as a feature on a tractor...
