You know, I used to be a terrible speaker. I was always quiet and would mumble through half of my words. Then I got this amazing wire rack, and now I always impress people with my confidence and skills!
A good wire rack is one of the most important necessities when it comes to public speaking.
quiet not quite Fix it!!
That wire rack was surely pleasing, I’ll tell you what!
I missed the "wire" part! hahaha...and thought, "But, of course!"
Don't forget to use plenty of lip and tongue action.
Well, at least they got a real spider to perform in their movie. The Horrors Of Spider Island couldn't even do that.
hollywood was always puppetwashing (CGIwashing nowadays).
#spiderlivesmatter
Yeah, but they still couldn't get real teenagers.
Man the mom got over the father's death real quick.
Her boyfriend helped her with that.
She loved him that one time he was sober.
Earth vs The Spider is a surprisingly clear and concise film compared to almost everything else they watch.
at the very least there was actually a spider, compared to the likes of 'Horrors of Spider Island'
Servo: "Maybe I've misunderstood what spiders are, they're large hairy bipeds with pants"
I was thinking the same thing.
@@HylianFox3 or have six eyes
Yeah it's almost entirely like a movie!
It's definitely on the more tolerable side of the Burt I. Gordon spectrum.
3:53 "Thank you!" (Love the 'awkward' call back to Josh's Dr. Lawrence Erhardt character from season 01.)
Joel + TV's Frank = My favorite era of MST3K
Is it the era where you started watching the show? I've found that people tend to be the most attached to the place they started. My introduction to the show was MST3K the movie, and the seasons that came after. I'm a fan of Joel as well, but its not my era.
The first episode I ever saw was The Pod People, when I was around 11 years old. I thought it was hilarious, but as I grew and watched the show I found I liked seasons 8-10 the best. I'm still a fan of Joel and Trace, but I think the Mike, Kevin, and Bill trio is my favorite riffing line-up.
That being said, the Cinematic Titanic Live shows are some of the best comedy pieces I've ever seen, and none of those three are in those shows!
This is the era when I started watching the show. And hey, Pod People was my first episode as well! And I was probably around the same age! Maybe just a year or two older. I like all of MST3K, including all the permutations with Mike, but this era will probably always be my favorite. I just feel like everything gelled perfectly with this cast.
The first episode I saw was Eegah and I was fuh-riggin' hooked.
JAldwin Same here
I love their true, upset, heartfelt compassion over babies and small children, and kittens/puppies, all babies in jeopardy in these movies.
Are you related to Mara Corday?
man. MST3K brings back so many fond memories of H.S. i remember being at my girlfriends house for thanksgiving. during the time before eating and football, was moving the satellite dish (the old huge one in the back yard) to the different signal location and came across a station called Comedy Central...and a Thanksgiving Day marathon of MST3K. What is this? OMG its freaking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
Philo Beddoe Bought some blank VHS tapes the week before Thanksgiving to record the Turkey Day marathon in '95. I was the MAN when I brought the tapes back to college with me... at least in my own mind. :D
I grew up watching MST3K on the rare occasion early in the morning at my Grandparents. It was not only the best thing to happen on a weekend, but it was all we could talk about the next week at school. Now, I have a child of my own and the last two days I was able to watch so many of these post surgery. I still can't wait to talk about these movies when I return to work after the Holiday weekend.
Edit: this movie suggested to me by a coworker, it's one of his favorites.
I hope that your surgery went without a hitch and that your recovery has been quick and I hope that you are doing well!
@@ramseydoon8277 Much appreciated, all went well. Seriously, thanks for asking. Hope you're doing well/have a great weekend. Take care.
Horror of Party beach was the 1st movie I ever saw by myself I was 9, even though I Knew those teeth were fake bananas, it still scared the shit outta me.....a very fond memory, 1st movie I looked up in here
😁
Thank you, MST3K, for all the years of lip-and-tongue action!
And the wire rack.
I'm speechless at the fact that those "kids" would rehearse & dance in front of a giant spider corpse? Who wrote this crap? Thankful for my MST3K Boys at times like these!
@@SanchoKobe - Not literally, obviously, since I'm commenting about it, duh. Heard of sarcasm before?
Eekiki why don’t they look? Why don’t they listen?
They were future Trump supporters.
@@CuriousGoodsJessica Notice how everyone in the film is white? Only non white is the spider.
@@SanchoKobe It is true. All Caucasian actors in these films.
'Earth vs the Spider', or at least 'One Small American Town vs the Spider'.
cgraham6 But I think it was on Earth, so it qualifies.
Which in the 50's....
47:20 or so: Not a riff, but Mike as the janitor from the Seventh Galaxy mentions a pep rally on "Tralfamadore," a reference to the fictitious homeworld of Kurt Vonnegut's 4th-dimensional aliens in the novel 'Slaughterhouse 5.'
There's another reference to Slaughterhouse 5 in Monster A-Go-Go...I think
Joel always has weird but kind of practical ideas sometimes.
That's why they stopped doing the invention exchange skits shortly after Mike took over. In the MST3K book they said something to the effect of: "Mike's a lot of things, an inventor isn't one of them."
He was pretty good at destroying planets, though.
I love the commentary Joel, crow and servo add while watching these movies
"It's Carol's Dad's Caverns..." omg lmao
Carol Reminds Me Of Another Girl, She Reminds Me Of Someone Else Who Lost Her Father But Received One More Present From Him (Example: Bracelet, Yoyo). I Named Her Carol.
@
Isn't Carol the same actress who played the Judo girl in Bloodlust?
earth vs the spider: the world wide web.
"I'm putting my money on the spider."
-Crowwwwww, MST3K: Earth vs. the Spider
I'm actually impressed how much of the teacher's lecture isn't bs
3:11 "Doing it, your Trumpness." Gosh, that aged well, didn't it?
11:44 Like a fine wine...
I wonder what people would have thought in the 90s if they knew 25 years later the POTUS would be Hitler 2 Orange-boogaloo
shhhhh neither of you are real, we're trying to watch the movie
@Nice Try Shut up, it's rude to talk in the theater.
Don't make me get the theater attendant.
@@otakunthevegan4206
Yes, shut up. It’s not only rude, you’re a fucking idiot.
"Joel, I got news for you... KISS were never cool." Thank you, Crow T. Robot, THANK YOU!!!
I remember this movie being in Lilo and Stitch
1:14:00 In which Joel uses the phrase "mammies" while defending lawn darts. (For those who missed out: lawn darts were leaden mini-javelins that also caused the occasional lethal head wound. Which is just a LITTLE more serious than getting a second-degree burn on your finger from an EZ-Bake Oven.)
They were soooo much fun though, much more than the round weighted ones available today that just cause a little concussion.
I had two friends (the stupid ones) with identical circular wound scars on, in, tru thier foot
We know how that happened, don't we?😁
The actress portraying Carol has a pleasing voice unlike so many young actresses of the fifties. It's not shrill and she doesn't sound like a squeaky toy. The actress in Teenagers from Outer Space comes to mind.
Actress who is Carol was in Bloodlust and Terror From the Year 5000. Very pleasing on the eyes.
Rest In Peace to her, she passed away early 2022.
@tz3218 what, no she isn't?? The woman who played Flavia is his wife, weirdo.
She was also in Viking Women and the Sea Serpent
You know for the budget this movie probably had these special effects are pretty good.
To be fair, that public speaking short did have some good tips
Usually used in tndem with the wire rack!
Be pleasing!
The callbacks to Dr. Erhardt always get me. :)
Enjoy!
3:49 THANK you!
love MST3000, CLASSIC original comedy without cursing or degrading women or hurting anyone's feelings.
Unless your name is Joe Don Baker. Apparently he was quite displeased with what the crew did with "Mitchell". So, by way of apology, they riffed "Final Justice".
But supporting jewish superiority.
i hate women and minorities
Tadesan Stop making antisemitic comments. Hate speech is against UA-cam policy.
Hate speech will be reported to UA-cam staff, and they will take appropriate measures to enforce policy.
@@melissawickersham9912 Just pure hatred and jealousy. The Jews have accomplished more in the past 70 years than his people have accomplished in 1500 years.
Just noticed that the establishing shot of the town after the opening is the Hill Valley set at Universal. That thing has been around forever.
How cruel of Bert I. Gordon to put that baby in that scene where the mom has to act hysterical and start screaming. That poor kid had no idea what was going on...probably traumatized it.
As Joel put it: "We don't need to see this."
I wonder if they used ADR?
How cruel of bert to make this movie.
@@WesleyFiles Almost certainly. Shes not actually saying anything. There is literally no reason not to use ADR there.
Darn! Watching these guys while drinking hot chocolate is a very bad idea!! The hot chocolate is now sprayed all over my wall🤣❤️
most fantastic entertainment ever. thank you for sharing. the channel should be mandatory viewing for all humans. and maybe some aliens.
53:11 Thank you Crow! Joe DOES look like he's 42 and not a highschool age teen.
"Industrial Light and Magic, you've done it again." 😁😅
stupid earth, thinking it could take on the spider
Ross Abadie
Hopefully the giant shoe is still operational.
huh?
As homer Simpson says stupid spider .get me a duff beer now.
you know, beyond the lacking special effects and hokey acting, this movie isn't half bad the characters aren't completely bland, and the science of spiders is spot on for sure.
Wow, that line was _impressively_ wrong. "Speaking of spiders, are you sure rifles are just the thing? Insects have a pretty simple nervous system, Sheriff. Could plug holes in one all day and never hit a vital spot." Spiders are of the class Arachnida, not the class Insecta. Furthermore, spiders are hydraulic: if you puncture a hole in a part of them, that part loses pressure and stops working, so guns would be the _perfect_ weapon against giant spiders.
"It was a spider. Drained all the liquid out of his body." Alright, you don't get to talk about spiders anymore. SPIDERS. DON'T. _WORK THAT WAY!_
This was my exact reaction when I saw the film as a grade-schooler decades ago! 🤣 Plus of course, the titular Spider's croaking "roar" sounds, being made by a creature with an esophagus, but anatomy to allow such sounds to be made at all, lol.
Windmills do not work that way! Kittens give Morbo gas...
1:29:50 "This'll cure his depression" is referencing Electroshock therapy.
RIP Bert I Gordon, 1922-2023 (Yep. He made it to 100)
Wow!
I love how brightly lit that cave is.
The sheriff is a real jerk, you can tell he's got a grudge against anyone who got past the 3rd grade.
He's a helluva shot though. Took out a small bat in a dark cave.
The first MST3K I ever saw :D
Mine was "Hercules Unchained" :)
Mine was Santa Claus Conquers the Martians :D
Mine was "Monster A-go-go". After I made it through that I could make it through any of 'em!
Mine was "The Beginning Of The End," which has Peter Graves at his hammiest best.
This Island Earth
Looking to one of my favorite episodes in troubling times, helping a lot
if it helps, I know few channels that upload mst3k as well, Ive found at least all of the last seasons
I hope so too, as the old series definitely helped me get through the last 8
Missed Annotation, at 1:02:36, Crow saying "Damien" was referencing Damien Thorn, the son of the Devil in the Omen series of movies.
Megan Rivera , yes you are correct. the omen is a great 80s horror movie.
(Not personal to Megan, but the developing crowd as a whole.)
How funny can it be to watch these movies depending on annotations? Isn't the whole point "getting it" on your own because you remember the sources from life, like they mean something to you? I could use an explanation here and there, but are you all wanting every single riff to be explained, really? I can't see any annotations on my "device," which is an old cheap desktop PC with a screen as big as my TV. I didn't realize this degeneration of the original intent was going on! Seems like it would be particularly irksome to have fellow viewers coming along explaining the riffs to you when you already know what the riff was referring to, on your own, and were having a delicious giggle at it until here came someone next to you explaining why it was funny. I don't ever want to watch TV or a movie with any of you guys.
There was a series!?
I can probably imagine how it goes.
I can just imagine some superfan making the cheese phone , or even a cheese keyboard. BTW, "curdless phone" is one of the worst groaners I've heard.
The expression of pure agony on TV's Frank was hilarious. We just *know* that's a real reaction.
This year I'm taking the family to Carol's Dad's Caverns for vacation.
Carol Reminds Me Of Another Girl, She Reminds Me Of Someone Else Who Lost Her Father But Received One More Present From Him (Example: Bracelet, Yoyo). I Named Her Carol.

🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Like any good father SHOULD…
Anyone know how Arties family vacay to Carol's Dad's Caverns went?
Fun fact: Spiders dont actually have muscles as we know them in mammals, so what he calls Galvani's reaction, a galvanic response, ie kicking that guy, wouldnt be possible if it was dead.
It wasn't dead.
They do though, it’s more recognisable in big tarantulas. In some countries people actually cook and eat the white flesh.
I just watched a documentary called "Earth vs The Spider" and I saw actual footage of it happening, so you're definitely wrong.
I can’t be the only one who low key wants to take the voice advice haha 😂
it's solid fundamental information for public speaking, generally speaking.
It's, kinda like the Ben Franklin money handling short, the execution is funny and dated but the advice is solid.
I’ve watched a few of these with and without the annotations. I prefer it without. Even if I miss a few references here and there, I think it is funnier to just let it hit you in the moment.
Ya gotta watch it twice. First time no annotations. Then if there's a joke you didn't get, turn em on and rewatch.
2:45 Somehow this is my first time ever noticing that Dr. F has Kraft singles on his clipboard
42:39 The Dr. Laurence Erhardt reference here was bittersweet. At least we later learned what really happens to him in the Gauntlet, right?
1:02:33 Crow says, "Damion. Damion." That's an imitation of Gregory Peck from "The Omen."
In reality, the rumor is.....
He was possessed when he said it.
you mean "Damien, Damien"
In reality, rumors are bullshit.
@@ianalexander92 so is The Catcher in the Rye.

Wow, how the hell many times was *HE* held back? :)
Mr. BIG, Bert I Gordon, one of my favorites!
Somewhere out there, three giant spiders gave this a dislike. We need the IP addresses, and some DDT.
There’s 17 of those little suckers now. They’re breeding.
Earth vs Soup is better than the original movie.
How about Earth vs. Poop?
@@wadecarmen7501 That's basically this episode

love the prog-rock reference
I love you guys! Thanks for the upload! :)
In the early shows, Gypsy could look at something and vomit out a copy. I'm sorry they didn't keep that function.
525Lines that was the umbilicus
Nope. Look at the season one shows. Joel tells Gypsy to look at something and make a copy. And umbilicus was a tube where things were sent between Deep 13 and the SOL.
Tell 'em.
Joseph Napurano I've come here to eat candy canes and argue pointless trivia and I'm all out of candy canes.
that's right! about the umbilicus being a kind of pneumatic tube system between earth & the SOL.
you missed another one - 1:15:06 - "god bless" is an imitation of red skeleton's signature sign-off - "god bless and good night."
More accurately: Small midwestern town vs the Spider.
Jacob G. But I think it was on Earth, so it qualifies.
NOT THE CRANE SHOT!
Thanks. If you take requests could you do Boggy Creek 2? That would be awesome.
"Get in there. You're in so much trouble... jumping over the moon."
I'll be damned farmers do exist
i looooooved creepy crawlers and creeepy people! it was my brother's set but he let me use it.
I had the Creepy Crawler set - loved that they glowed in the dark. And Joel's right - I got second degree burns on my fingertips on a couple occasions.
The mother takes the death of her husband VERY well! hahaha...not the slightest hint of mourning...curiously disinterested...
I actually feel a little sorry for the spider. He really suffered when they fried him. They cured his depression.
Funny that creepy crawlers came back after this episode, then were eventually hauled off the market again for basically the same reason.
Huge fan of you guys man!!!
😀I know this seems petty, but I think it’s cool when Joel says, “What do ya think sirs?”
😀”Hey Scabby, I need a Willy Wonka on a skull cap with some rat tails.”😂
27:39 reference to Courtship of Eddie's Father. The maid, Mrs Livingston, used to say "Mr Eddie's father" when referring to her employer.
I remember watching this episode, as a rerun, when I was a kid with me mom. Happy to see its here now so I can watch it again!
this was a great one
You think soup is a biped?
18:21 -- have guests in house, otherwise be laughing my ass off.
aahhh, Euphoria.... Welcome back, Misty3K!!!
One of my all-time favourites, with some of the best MST3K moments ever! 💪 ❤️ 💯
Ah the 50s.... When you could get an insane amount of chemicals under an hour.
56:03 - "Gotta dance!" -- Isn't that from Singin' in the Rain?
Yes, but originally was from "Broadway Rhythm" from 1944.
Carol's dad's cavern! I don't know if the producers of the movie planted that Easter egg intentionally just for the benefit of those who put it together, but if they did it's a gem! XD
The spider keeps eatin' the credits!!
Tarantulas don't spin webs! And the "Egghead" referred to it as an insect! It's this kind of thing that takes away from the stark reality of the rest of the film.
Killjoy! Repeat after me, "It's only a movie, It's only a movie."
Haha! Well done, Mr. Annotator, for actually looking up whether or not mummies actually stink. 1:20:34
The "Gotta Dance" that it sounds like Tom is referencing is actually from Singing in the Rain....Gene Kelley sings it in the 1952 movie version!
Best thing the on the youtubes!
Earl .O Sandwiches do you mean "best thing on UA-cam"?
You must be new to the internet. xD
You mean teh Int4rw3bs.

Crows report is brilliant! His information comes from books and stuff!!!!❤🧜♀️🌙sirena!!
Earth vs Soup is the movie we didn't know we needed
While every effort was made to accurately portray the experience of the entire Earth, versus the spider, some largess was obtained by releasing the film in countries with cinemas.
8:50 Some people call it a kaiser blade. but i call it a sling blade, mmm hmm..
1:00:03 - "Nursing a Sick friend" was slang for being out drinking - being at a bar.
This has to be my favorite Bert I Gordon MST
Oh, man, I too love Mr. B.I.G. but The Magic Sword is my favorite
Also a very good one
Village of the Giants for me, though Magic Sword made the better MST3K episode.
Earth vs. The spider! A classic!🕷🧜♀️sirena!
9:00 At this very moment, Billy Bob Thorton found the inspiration for Slingblade
00:29:01 - "Didn't know they piled it that high." A PG paraphrase from Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket where Marine D.I. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman (R. Lee Ermey) comments on recruit Cowboy (Arliss Howard) about his 5'9" (five-foot-nine) height.
You should upload these every Saturday night! Not once a month, just my opinion, thanks for reading!
It takes quite a while to gather the correct info for the annotations.
These kind of notes were written up by fans soon after the shows were released.
All joking aside, the short film about public speaking should be modernized and shown in High School. It's something that everyone should learn.
"Double Golden Slasher Time" at about 35:50 is a reference to Firesign Theatre (as was Joel crying out "Oh, Porgy" in the Earth vs Soup segment).
My personal favorite is the early Mike Nelson seasons with Dr F and TVs Frank
I suppose you're gonna tell me this is a CAVE! Haahhaahaaa
