I love the chemistry between Joel, Trace and Josh. These early episodes will always be my favorite MST3K. That chemistry came back with Cinematic Titanic. I wish someone was still streaming that.
I like how they describe the corpse in order to reduce instances of the police detaining people who have other corpses in their car. I mean, you don't want to slow interstate corpse commerce and all.
They UPSCALED a 640 x 480 show (WITHOUT any GAIN in quality, which would be the only LEGITIMATE reason to do so), & padded the sides with black bars to try to PRETEND that it was originally a 1920 x 1080 show. Downvoted
The Barbershop sketch is so perfect. The conversation comes off as natural and then suddenly takes a dark turn when Crow mentions that Clown Jamboree and a crashed fire engine
This show always makes me laugh! I love the Manos one where Joel says that every scene in the movie looks like someone's last known photograph. Laughed so hard I cried!!!
The host segment in the "Manos" episode is genius. When Gypsy plays the Southern Sherriff who pulls over the boys, is her best work. "My my my. What to we have here?" Spit!🔔 "A couple of Yankee trouble makers. " Spit!🔔
I agree, one of the best lines in that one. Then Again Manos is Legendary even with out MST3K! Everything about it is wrong in every right way. I used to have a co worker that looked like Torgo, pretty funny really.
Joel really made this show what it is and though I still enjoyed the Mike Nelson episodes I didn't LOVE them the way I loved those early ones - especially the ones with Joel, Trace Beaulieu and Josh Weinstein, who will always be my favorite Servo voice. 💙
I like the novelty of these older episodes but I do appreciate a little more when the jokes and riffs are better planned. Still, its fun to see how the series changed over the years.
I prefer it to be 'scripted' to be honest. they were good enough that it never felt scripted. Two hours of improve riffing is difficult at best. It's not like they didn't come up with their own material either.
49:40-ish. "Where did you go? I was going to make espresso" is a line from Young Frankenstein spoken by an uncredited Gene Hackman playing a blind man. Must be seen.
At 25:43, the way Joel says the riff almost seems to imply Dr. Scott's lines in the song "Don't Dream It" from The Rocky Horror Picture Show." "We've got to get.... out of this trap/Before this... decadence.... saps our wills" vs. "I'm going to jump... out of this truck/And scare the pants off... everybody" I know the annotations can't be edited, just wondering if anyone else hears it.
1:27:57 I really wished they had continued the gag of Tom Servo’s head exploding whenever he couldn’t think straight and was overwhelmed. As far as I recall this only happened in 2 more episodes. In 107- Robot Monster and 211- First Spaceship on Venus. It’s unfortunate that the gag didn’t stick around because I really liked it. As someone who builds replicas of the bots as a hobby, this is something that I’m very interested in. As for the pyrotechnic aspect of it, other builder’s mentioned Flash Powder. So I’m interested in their rigged the mechanism which ignited the flash powder inside Tom’s Head. Unless I ask Joel or Trace about it directly then I’ll have to figure it out myself. Man I LOVE Bot Building.

I understand. I felt the same way during Bride of The Monster. But I got used to it and learned to find it funny. I think Bella's looking down and laughing along.
In all honesty , the hard thing about these serials , finding ANY complete , and for the record , this one is REALLY good . Each episode (about) 12 to 14 long , and designed to get the kids to NEVER miss EVEN ONE ! Serials are the *ONLY* good reason for the internet to exist AT ALL !!

In case you didn't know MST3K has an official on demand app. I have it installed on my Roku, Fire Stick and all Android devices.
