I've been drawn to veiling, but as silly as this sounds, I was afraid that I'd come across as, "holier than thou". And...it felt odd with my more modern clothing. But this video has really helped me! Thank you!
Many countries it is the norm to veil!! Don't worry you're more than likely going to inspire other women and girls. Me and some of my friends veil or wear a head cover almost everywhere. Many women and girls come up to us and ask about it. They call it beautiful and more ladies are veiling at church
I think the same, but I like the veil who has no design tho since I don't want to draw attention to myself. Although I feel shy doing it, since no one is really doing it. I hope veiling will be a common practice.
@@0therM0ther.01 we aren't called to be of the world. If Muslim women can cover their hair 24/7 and Orthodox Jewish women too. Don't let a "what if" stop you from testing out a way to Serve the Lord and walk in Modesty and reverence. As Christian women, especially in America, we need to stop being afraid of what people will say. God will protect you AND give you strength, so long as you seek comfort in Him.
@@0therM0ther.01 There will some people who love you and those who think it's strange to dress modestly or cover your hair. We don't do it for them, we do it for God! And my experience veiling 24/7 is that it's 99% good experience. Even some non Catholic women started to veil or cover their hair too. Women and Men have approached me with positive words.
Yes!! I have always gone to Mass with a veil on and even during catechism classes we were always reminded to have our veil on whenever we were in the presence of the Eucharist. Back then, I felt it was too much. But now I recognise the importance and I am planning to bring it back in my life.
I'm not even catholic, I am a protestant. But I think this is absolutely beautiful. It's what women did in the bible. It would be great to bring it back to all churches and possibly even in public. Not forcing women to do it, of course, but encouraging them to.
Can you explain me the biblical suport for using the veil as a submision to the church? in my understanding acording to Paul in 1Corinthian 11 the covering was used as a submision to men as the Head of the women, verses 1- 10 but then in verse 11 he explais that after jesus we are equal in front of God, and our veil is our hair, and just as it is dishonorable for a man to pray with his head covered, it is the same for a woman, since God gave us the hair. verses 11 -16: "Nevertheless, IN THE LORD woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. 12 For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.13 JUDGE FOR YOURSELVES: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? 14 Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, 15 BUT THAT IF A WOMAN HAS LONG HAIR, IT IT HER GLORY? FOR LONG HAIR IS GIVEN TO HER AS A COVERING. 16 If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice-nor do the churches of God.
I’m not catholic either but nondenominational Christian and yet I feel drawn to this and even looked this up! In 1 Corinthians it states In the Bible, there is a passage in 1 Corinthians 11 that discusses the practice of veiling during worship. It says, "But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head-it is the same as having her head shaved" (1 Corinthians 11:5). This passage is often interpreted to mean that women should cover their heads while praying or prophesying. While the cultural context of this practice may differ today, some Christian traditions still uphold the practice of women wearing veils or head coverings during worship as a sign of reverence and submission. Ultimately, it is important to seek guidance from your own faith community and to prayerfully consider how to honor God in your worship practices.” (this answer is from my app that I downloaded called Bible Chat and it’s free and you can basically ask any question that you want relating to the Bible and it also has daily devotion readings if you would like as well I highly recommend you downloading this and sharing this with others too please along with the Bible Hub app because, that is also a multi cross reference app that you can look up scripture either a specific verse or topic if you don’t remember the verse and it will show you all the different kinds of Bible translations as well as listening to an audio Bible on on this app, as well as looking up an Atlas and you can even look up the original Greek and Hebrew words as well !! ) please also share this with as many people as you can as well as !! I guess now my point would be that I am now interested in veil
As someone who was raised Catholic in a European family, and who's seen many an old lady veil in church, I'd like to offer a different perspective that may be unpopular for this audience. I'm sorry, but even "encouraging them to" is too much for me. It just comes across as too preachy and strong. If women (or men, why not?--and why don't they have to veil?) want to adopt a fashion statement for the sake of religion, by all means, let them do so. But let other Christians be free to live how they want to and wear whatever they want. It's the 21st century. I love to have my hair down and freely blowing in the wind the way nature created me, thank you very much. I will not be veiling and don't want the practice to become so entrenched in modern Christianity as to jeopardize Western secular values (which I champion as both a Christian and a modern woman). Let's all try to understand that customs and fashion choices change over hundreds of years; that veiling may have been a common practice for much of human history but does not in itself reflect on the worth or "purity" of a woman; that to equate conservative fashion with women's purity is a dangerous ideal; that a woman who wears modern clothing appropriate in the secular society to which she belongs is not "less good" than a woman who chooses to dress conservatively. "Encouraging" women to do this or that in the name of religion starts with a church community or at home in the family. It can rapidly become a dangerous ideology as peer pressure turns to societal pressure, and ultimately to political pressure. (The elephant in the room? Look at women's rights in the middle east. No thank you.) Again, persons who want to veil: yes, it's a lovely custom, and I salute you. But please let's not champion this on a large scale, nor peddle it as a necessity of faith, not here in the West. I'm Christian insofar as I believe in God. That's it. I don't do dogma or authority figures telling me what to do or trying to instill guilt in people just for living normal lives. I hold the secular values of Western civilization too dear. (Atheists in the room, where are you? I need some backup here....) ;)
I started veiling last year, even though I was still in RCIA, it just felt the right to do in church. I was baptised, confirmed and received communion for the first time at Easter, which was the only time I wore a white veil, usually I wear a black veil
Welcome home to the Church! It’s a joy to have another sister in Christ. My wife just received Communion and Confirmation this Divine Mercy Sunday, after Easter Sunday! I’m here because we’re wondering why so few women veil at our church. God bless!
@betsytidwell1479 hii, I noticed you converted Mormon to Catholic! My best friend is Mormon, and she has been telling me that the Catholic church is catching her attention. She told me she felt the closest to God when we went to adoration. I was wondering if there was any ways that could help her grow closer to the Catholic church and help her get closer to God and to Mary.
I trust my story to you. No one clergy is ready to hear me. They're busy... They only want sins I confessions Not my story This is it... Greetings happy easter vigil! Greetings. I’m about to say my concern for my calling called: {Consecrated Virgin}-Bride of Christ. I vowed to the Lord in the adoration room. That I must be a good Catholic and a Future Bride of Christ. And I will serve Him from the rest of my life. By serving His Church and the people especially my fellow victims of sexual abuse and with children from rapes. . I bear this kind of vow… That I will continue to be a Consecrated Virgin, if girls who had child(ren) from rape can also join.. . I understand that rape victims are still virgins according to Saint Aquinas and Saint Augustine. Perhaps my heart is so in loved to Jesus.. And I also cry for His people questioning Him after their abuse, But then, I believed that rape victim with offspring of her rapist can be the bride of Christ. Beside virginity and childless are required. . Please listen to the story of my life,, ( When I was a baby my mother was shocked because I was on the baby incubator, because I had rashes and wounds and bleeding butt, it is all because of the male nurse, she put him into jail, Then When I was grade 3. I was sexually assaulted by my older female classmate. . And the most shocking fact about my life is that… my grandmother was actually raped and she conceived my mother, they give no justice, she had been abused a lot. ‘ Yet on my viewing. Last years ago when I was grade 11 I meet a rape victim in our school of course I say a lot of good things to her. And she must put that man into jail. I call for a teacher to write down with her for her case.. , I know that from the moment I got married to Jesus, I must be responsible about (Love Mercy and Hope.) I know that the Lord is suffering for those without justice, so then I, must suffer with them. I am just preparing about the things on this world, beside many catholic faith defenders told me that they cannot, because they had child(ren) from rapes. and I am also (preparing if ever I got raped and had child like my grandmother. rape and incest is so High here in the Philippines ) So here I am. I hope that we victims can be! May God aloe us to received the calling we wish, since we can offer to Him everything we have! Amen. I had personal vow to Jesus at the adoration room Many times. But when I told this to catholic defenders... They only told me My calling must be about the concern to others.. They didn't understand. That my heart is mourning and not selfish What is the point That we must pray Rosary for the souls of the purgatory, If our calling must not depend to our concern to others? What is the point that a rape victim can be consecrated virgin. But the girl with child from her rapist cannot be? Since Brides of Christ Still go home and take care children from schools. So basically They can be consecrated virgin and a mother in same the day. And every day. Because they're unmarried and with vow of celibacy...
I’m at a point now where NOT wearing a veil in church makes me feel naked somehow. It’s a beautiful tradition and makes me feel both humble, hidden AND beautiful for the sake of my Lord.
@DavidTheZealot I understand. I just felt the need to mention it because sometimes these things can really be more of a trend, especially for young people. My wife veils. She just recently became Financial Secretary for our Parish's Catholic Daughters of the America's Court and was told that she can not wear her veil while wearing the CDA robe because the CDA wants uniformity. When I looked at the other ladies wearing the robes, I saw short silver/white hair. It reminded me that veiling isn't the trend (it was the norm for the Western Church for millennia), the generational trend is to NOT wear a veil. I hope that trend ends soon.
I am the ONLY woman who wears a headscarf and receives Our Lord on my tongue at the Mass I attend and I often get strange looks 🙁 I prefer to wear full cloth rather than lace but that is just my preference 🤗 Thank you for this video sweetheart ❤ I am so happy that such a young lady is happy to do this and I hope more young ladies will follow your example 🙏🏻 God bless you 💐💐💐
Can you make a video about the rosary I just bought one from amazon and I'm so happy for it to arrive, is so beautiful 😍, I'm 17 and started to get more serious on my faith and I'm so glad that you started a UA-cam channel about it ❤
The St. Louis Missouri seminary has a great video where they pray the rosary, and you can pray along with it super easily! Also, there's another channel called "That Black Catholic Chick" and the girl who runs it has videos about the rosary and devotion to Mary as well! God bless ❤
I started wearing Christian head coverings earlier this year! I try to wear them anytime I leave my home and when I am praying. It’s such a beautiful thing! I have found some beautiful head coverings on Amazon and on Garlands of Grace. LOVE THE HEADCOVERING MOVEMENT ❤
@@Covey_the_therian Start veiling in your prayer closet, When your mom sees that you are a better, more humble person because of it, she will ask you about it. Then God will be glorified.
It is wonderful to see many Catholic women especially young Catholic covering their heads in church again.I hope you encourage your family and friends to start.❤️🙏🏻
Hi Isabella! i happened to stumble on this video and it gave me a new perspective about veiling. I did not know the purpose of it. when I was younger I thought the women who are suppose to wear it are the servers/staff of the church only. And just to share I am in my journey in renewing my faith with Jesus with the guidance of Catholic church. Thanks for this. Godbless!
I started veiling when I attended the Latin Mass, but when I attended the Novus Ordo Mass, I at first tended not to veil because most people don't veil at our Novus Ordo Masses. Knowing that God is present in the tabernacle no matter what kind of Mass is being offered, I decided to start veiling at any Catholic church regardless of what kind of Mass was being offered, or even if Mass was not being offered (i.e. Adoration, Rosary). At first, I was very self conscious veiling at the Novus Ordo Mass because almost nobody veils there. But I kept reminding myself that I'm veiling for God and not for anyone else, and eventually, I got used to it and it now feels so natural to me that if I were to not veil, I would feel like something is missing (like I forgot to put shoes on or something. 😃)
Same here, nobody wears veils anymore except for very old people who live in the countryside. I live in the city and I have always wanted to wear a veil (I have never experienced wearing one except on my wedding day) but I think I would also feel self-conscious because being in the city, I will be the only one wearing a veil.
I’m a protestant in India and girls start veiling when they hit puberty( in church all the time) as they are on the way to be a woman of God .❤ it feels very liberating and freeing for me personally it is such a great experience ❤
I’m a new subscriber and found your channel because I felt like I needed faith based encouragement to wear a veil I just received. I watched your video right before mass and I was genuinely excited to put my veil on after 🥰 Your channel is literally what I need 🥹 I’m not really on other social media, I’m trying to grow as a young Catholic lady in this crazy world we live in, and I feel like you’re going to produce the content we all need! Thank you for saying “yes”, to spreading your ministry in this way, and I genuinely hope you pour into it with all your heart 🥹💕I can’t wait to see what’s to come for you girly🥰🫶🏽
I just bought my first veil last week and I already love wearing it. I didn't think about sewing the clip into my veil, such a useful tip!I was inspired by my catholic besties Mom is the only other woman that I know of who wears a veil in our parish, I'm so happy that I have chosen to veil!
I'm not Catholic, but I cover my head full time, both during Church and in public. It has literally changed my life, and strengthened me as a women, and has helped my husband become the spiritual leader of our home. ❤
I love this! I’ve felt called to veil for a few months now after reading 1 Corinthians 11. I’m not catholic but Christianity is called to modesty, this video was beautiful ❤
A lot more women of all ages are veiling in our large novus ordo parish. I think more people in general are answering God's call to holiness. As secular society gets crazier, it seems like more people are turning to God. Confession lines are longer, more people are going to adoration, more are receiving the Eucharist on the tongue and kneeling, etc. There were quite a few in RCIA that found their own way into the Church as a refuge from the world. It seems like a wave of converts and reverts is just starting to build and the lukewarm are waking up. Let's hope. Ladies, as a man striving for holiness, there is something beautiful about women in veils, as long as there is a matching humble piety. It is like a pius nun whose habit and devotion reflect God's grace. It is a beautiful expression of true femininity as God intended it to be. Since Eden, the battle has been waged against you and the family. Fatima confims this. Veils are another weapon against satan's snares and temptations. May God abundantly bless all of you!
I did start veiling everyday though! And I've been wearing Jerusalem style head wraps and also larger silk bandanas. I have not tried the Catholic style head covers yet, But would like to! Another reason I started covering my hair was because I wanted to do something for the Lord, even though it's not a commandment per se... I was asking myself... If the Lord asked me to dress modestly and not be a stumbling block to others, and he said one way to do that is by covering your hair,.... Even though it's not a commitment to cover your hair, would I do something extra for the Lord just because he asked?... Or would I only do the bare minimum and only do his Commandments? Well... I think all of us who love him would want to do whatever he said! Just because we love him! also, it shows that he covers us under his wings. And he is our authority that we look up to. Just like a father, a husband, or an older brother! So it is a symbol of his authority in our lives, like the Tzitzit tassels to remember him by!
I love this video❤ My dad asked us four girls when I was a preteen/teen, if we would consider wearing veils and what our take on it was since he had been reading through St. Paul. I was the only one that didn't throw a stink about it because I thought it was beautiful. Since we were Novus Ordo and it is no longer required, nothing came of it. But around 6 years later I met a young man raised in the SSPX who introduced me to the Tridentine Mass that I didn't even know existed! It was fabulous! We decided to stick with diocesan TLMs since I was not comfortable with the SSPX's situation with the Church. I have been happily wearing veils for the last 11 years (more happily now that I've learned your little trick to keep them on... Bobby pins are not super effective) and only don't wear them for Mass if it is a casual Novus Ordo weekday Mass or I would find it more humiliating to not wear it (his family is a bit holier-than-thou so I try not to let them guilt me into wearing one... I want to do it for the right reasons!). Love the infinity veils and I buy thin scarves from the resale so I can afford to have enough to coordinate with outfits so I don't make the veil a distraction for others. Ps... I married the ex SSPX boy and we go to the TLM basically every Sunday and Holy Day with our 7 little kids. Happiest of endings in my book🥰 We pray to have access to it for many years to come.
I started veiling two years ago when I was 11, and I can confirm that it has definitely impacted my faith life, I can't explain it exactly, but it really deepened my faith and my love for Christ! Currrently I am the only women veiling in my Parish, but many of my friend's veil (they life farther away and go to Latin Mass) and I hope some of the women at my Parish take up the practice. One other thing about veiling is that I find it makes me dress more modestly, I always covered my shoulders, but I was was not very conscious of covering my knees, of course knees and shoulders do not define your level of holiness, however I think that what you dress speaks a lot about who you are. I am praying for you!!
Exactly! Women should emulate Our Holy Mother in all things - including covering our heads! In fact, it was Mary who asked me to start covering my head one day while I was saying the Rosary.
I wore a veil throughout this entire Lent full time and it was wonderful... Each day it was a choice to step towards Christ and it had difficulties... People were staring even though I'm from a predominantly Catholic country, my family wasn't pleased as well (they thought I was converting or something), sometimes I was too tired or discouraged because of other things... But I went through it all and I've never felt more victorious 😊! And I remember how I was telling myself that I wanted to try it out and it's a one time thing but I feel like I'm going to do this again next year and hopefully the one after that as well and so on 😊💪
I have been veiling for about 6 months now. I absolutely love it! I was also very self conscious at first but I was over it after the third time. I personally dislike lace or transparent/see through materials. I prefer to wear solid rayon scarfs, so they are softer, longer, wider, non-transparent and it allows me to cover my head, shoulders and part of my back. I show only my hairline like the blessed mother. Veiling helps me stay focused. I am uncomfortable wearing black or white generally speaking because it is no ones business if I am married or single, I am at church for God only. I follow the liturgical color of the day or season, so I have green, purple, red, pink magenta, cream, and blue. I eventually purchased a black triangle mantilla for confessions or a funeral. And a white trangle mantilla veil just incase. I do not feel like wearing lace is reverent to God, it is like being a temptress, the head is not covered & the vanity of the hair is still very present...just my opinion and yet I own two of them. I also have a sheer black scarf with floral rose accents, as an emergeny veil in my car just incase. It has come in handy, when I forgot my veil at home and when I made a spontaneous stop at the Adoration Chapel.
I love that you’re talking about your experience with veiling, and the benefits. I love that you’re not denigrating someone else not wearing a veil. I’m Catholic and personally don’t wear a veil. I love this though!
Thank you for making this video! I am a new catholic and I have always been so curious why some women wore these and I wanted to wear one as well! They are pretty and now that I know there is a greater meaning to wearing it, it makes it that much more beautiful!
I want to veil but I'm SOOOO nervous! Nobody in my Parrish veils and I don't want to stick out >,< You talked a bit about how our hair is one of our most beautiful assets, can you explain that a bit? This kind of language confused me but it gives me inspiration to veil more.
Are you sure that no one veils? Look around on another day, or maybe do it on a visit to the tabernacle on a week day. You may notice that there actually are some women there wearing one. If there is literally no one veiling that is hard, because all the other women will definitely be judgmental, it that makes it hard to feel like you are really humbling yourself.
@@MatthewThomas-ye1ei Yes, literally no one veils here. I'm not exaggerating. >_< That's exactly why I don't veil, I don't want people thinking I'm like "holier than thou" but I wish I could
You could start veiling in a very demure way, such as wearing a wide lace headband or a short veil that matches your hair color. As the practice continues to take root in your heart, you will no longer feel anxious! Speaking from experience 💕 All the best to you in your journey!
Start wearing headbands, hats, Bonnie’s etc. or a mantilla that matches your hair colour. And there is probably a handful of women who don’t dare to veil because “they are the only one” and are just waiting for someone to take the first step. In my parish it was mostly the African women who veiled, but after I started, I noticed more and more women who covers.
I mean.. like she said in the video, it is about the intention and honouring/showing reverence to GOD our Lord and saviour, for his sacrifice on the cross.. people will judge regardless veil or not, even in day to day life in and outside the church. Jesus was judged, persecuted, and rejected, that did not stop him from living out his passion for our sake. If God is putting this heavily on your heart, believe and listen to his calling, lean into it, and if it doesn’t work out.. at least you can say you tried. You can do all things through Christ, he will strengthen you. God bless sister.❤
Hello there! I’m just a random guy here who happened to stumble across your video and was impressed by your intention to detail. If you may, can you make a video for women about dressing modest in church? Thanks!
Amen to this. External modesty is so important, both for the women, and for the men. It is so disrespectful and distracting for a woman to flaunt herself, especially at church.
My grandmother has always told me that she wore a Vail when she was younger, I currently live in a mostly Muslim community, so I am very comfortable with Vails, However, every now and then I meet or see a old Catholic woman in a Vail, and for some reason that is unexpected to me 😅
Confession- I, a man, just got tired of deep ecclesiastical videos and clicked here for the cute Catholic girl. Sorry, but thank you for sharing! When i first joined traditional congregation I found my thoughts often wandered to the veil. I still can’t fully verbalize it, but the veil has this immense effect on the way I thought, the way I heard the teachings, the way I felt the presence of Christ… On the most superficial level, yes, the veiled women are beautiful both young and old, but more than physically. When you put them together in the church it’s as if they’re supernatural antennae that harness the power of the Holy Spirit and work to funnel the whole energy of the church toward Christ. Sounds weird, hopefully not borderline blasphemous, but it really has a powerful affect that while I can’t explain, I have in fact corroborated this sense with other men in the church lol
Bonnet wearing was tradition in my family (think Penn Dutch, but without strict regulations on what the bonnets need to look like), I still own 2 of both of my great grandmother's bonnets. But for today's society I feel like veiling and hats are better for blending in.
I have just recently started veiling! I am not Catholic. I was raised Protestant and am marrying Orthodox. I decided to start veiling as an act of submission, and because I am very serious about the life I am about to enter into. I do agree that veiling helps me to focus much more on liturgy or the sermon, wherever i am on a given Sunday, and it has been a blessing to be able to do it!
In context the passage in the bible refers to a *wife*, the point was for women who were married to make it clear in church, and in those days wives would wear a head covering. The other issue is these pretty sheer veils/mantillas just draw attention to a woman's appearance and makes them look pretty (as they well know.) The idea biblically is for the woman (well , the wife really) to *cover/hide the hair* so a sheer veil doesn't really do it- it's 'cheating' to look pretty. And nowadays we don't go round wearing a head covering to indicate we're married. So, a wedding ring or something would do the job.
I just started vailing to become more modest and humble and I LOVE IT it makes me feel like a princess and its much more respectfull to wear in church 💗
I was meditating on this a while ago and thought of the ids of the link between veiling and Passiontide (with the idea of veiling that which is sacred).
I veil in church because it makes me feel young again. And yes, it helps me concentrate on prayer. The "doilies" were called "chapel caps. The "triangle veils" were called mantillas. We didn't have clips on our veils. They stayed in place pretty well in church. We didn't have infinity veils, but that is the style I prefer now, because outside church I just wear it around my neck. I also have a wire kippah I bought from a Jewish seller; it is quite small, and it does need a comb attached since it is made of metal. After all, the custom of veiling comes from the Jewish tradition. Of course Jewish men [and women too, in my limited experience] wear kippahs in synagogue.
Beautiful take! It is a beautiful practice your take on veiling is absolutely right. "Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi" the law of prayer is the law of belief and we forget we are body and soul so as we do the Eucharistic fast as a praying with our bodies veiling is another way to pray with the body and as the law of prayer is the law of belief I've found women who have independently discovered this practice for themselves have really deepened their relationship with God and as you stated deepened their relationship with the Blessed Mother. Other small practices like having the priest face Ad Orentum and.... Lord forbid us receiving the Lord first in a state of grace after going to confession, but on the tongue (Because only clergy have consecrated hands) are just small ways we participate in the mass and pray with our bodies as well. ***now insert my disclaimer that Vatican 2 and Novos Ordo are perfectly fine and are valid forms of the liturgy and it can be done in reverent ways in keeping and not distracting from Sacred Tradition, preferences toward traditional liturgy is not schismatic and just a preference of an aesthetic***
Used to say we do it in ccd so that satan wont infiltrate your thoughts lol i like this reason better. 💗 Makes sense why we veil on our communion awwee! 🙏
hi, just fount your channel from insta, im not a catholic but have been made aware of veiling, i agree how it is something that is humbling and can help some to focus on the lord rather than draw attention to self and that would be a reason for me. i havent yet taken this practice up but i pray that the lord will lead me. God bless you
My grandmother who was from Galicia, Spain always wore gorgeous lace mantillas (veils). Growing up I always wore a mantilla. To this day, I always cover my head with a veil as a sign of humility. I am so glad the younger generation is veiling.
I started veiling at mass and adoration as a convert during RCIA in 2007. I didn’t know all the theories, just felt compelled by Christ to show public witness of being a “new creation in Christ” by submitting to His will. I didn’t have a lace veil, so I just started wearing scarves tied under my chin like Russian Orthodox women. My first parish was heavily Hispanic and many older women were veiling at early mass, but at a different church later I was the only one - in a sea of several hundred. I felt self-conscious at first but after a few weeks of receiving the Eucharist prepared like this, I only cared what Jesus thought. Now, so many women in my area wear veils, including young women and at the college mass, no one blinks twice. Now I feel naked if my head is not covered. Do not judge veiling women, any more than one would judge a nonveiling one. The beauty of the Church is that it makes room for this as a personal choice. It is no different than the public witness of wearing a scapular, or a crucifix necklace, or a bracelet with holy pictures on it, or telling someone you will pray for them. And a true understanding of submission to Christ is actually a source of freedom, not suppression. God bless!
Veiling is A beautiful gesture! And I have worn them in the day! Now a head covering makes me think of Muslim women and oppression! Many cultures are used to this tradition but I know God knows what is in my heart and not wearing one is not disrepectful!
Veiling is optional during Mass but its good when women veil for a holy purpose. Its more great using it while praying privately and while in the Adoration Chapel. If you want to be like the Blessed Mother, its much better to imitate her Heart than her image. Because if you REALLY want to imitate her looks, then veil all the time like Muslim do. Thats really good as well. Just not applicable in some ppls way of life.
Thank you for saying this. I feel like if I take the veil it should be for God always. Not just inside His house. I feel like for myself it is not enough just to wear it to church and be done. I love seeing the tradition of the veil being worn in the church, though.
i started veiling by just wearing a scarf and slowly built up a collection of veils that I feel comfortable wearing in church. But scarves absolutely can be used - even in a pinch, if you go into church and you weren't expecting to (i.e. you haven't brought a veil with you). I was on holiday recently and myself and my husband decided to go into a church - thankfully I was wearing a scarf to keep the sun off the back of my neck, and it was the matter of moments to quickly flip it out and pop it over my head - while I have been into church without a veil since I began veiling, I do feel much more uncomfortable without it these days. if you're thinking about it - do it! I know that when I'm praying, e.g. before Mass, it really helps to cut down interruption and distraction by people moving around you in your side vision. :)
the first girl/young woman I saw wearing one I heard she was thinking about becoming a nun??? I don't know what that says, but I don't see them too often, but once I learned what it truly was I thought it was wonderful.
I would say pray about it, and let the Holy Spirit give you the words and best approach to bring it up with your mum. Maybe show her a picture, or a reel, or a Pinterest board to start the conversation, and then tell her about how pretty you think it is and about the significance and importance of it and why you've been thinking about veiling full-time. I'm a firstborn, and I'm kinda used to going ahead with things first and talking about it later, but I don't recommend that because we are told to honour our parents, and communicating effectively is a big part of that. All the best love! God bless you :) x
Why do you need your mother's permission? I'm sorry if this is rude. But whether or not you choose to wear it for religious purposes, it's just a cloth on the head, so why should you seek approval?
@@бронза.вафля.конус I mean idk for sure, but I don't really think it's so much about permission and more about telling her mum about it in a way that her mum won't make her feel uncomfortable or discourage her from veiling. It falls under “honour your father and mother” in a way because it's important to respect your parents and involve them in your choices especially if you are living with them. At least for courtesy’s sake and insofar as it doesn't lead to sin
Hello, keep these videos coming ❤ my daughter is 13 and she is learning her faith as well. I think vailing is beautiful but I’m not there yet. (Where do you think I should start) and hopefully my daughter does the same. My thing is that my regular clothes won’t match the vail example jeans or something like that. Usually they are worn with dresses or long skirts you know? I guess it sounds like vanity if I speak a loud. Not trying to though
I've been veiling for mass and because it's winter, and technically a scarf, the poor father keeps thinking I'm cold and tries to make me move under the heaters every week ❤❤
Feminism has no power or say in the house of the Lord. I started using a veil last year and I also find it helpful to focus on my relationship with God. Thank you for posting your video.
I’ve been veiling for a little over a year. Have a bunch in all different styles and materials, and I keep on getting more. I usually wear a colour that matches the liturgical colour. Confused because it’s a Martyr feast but the altar is green? I wrap on two scarves, a green and red. 😅
This was so helpful! Thank you for sharing! Seems like this is a practice only for women and trying to understand rationale for why only women and not men practice this is.
I was the exact same way at first, and there have been many times where people have judged me and that's okay. If you know that God is calling you to it then the enemy is going to do his best to prevent you from doing the practice through fear, anxiety, etc. You can do it! Start out slow, and you can even wear veils that are similar to your hair color so it's not too noticeable. I hope that your family & friends will take it with an open mind and heart. Praying for you!
I am 13 years old trying to get into the RCIA program. I have been told that I cannot without concentration of my parents. They are Baptists who would never accept that, so they told me I cannot. Please pray for my patience until I get to college and then can make my own decisions. God bless!
Cradle Catholic here (somewhat of a revert in the last year) married to a God loving Protestant wife. I really want to get my 6 and 3 y/o girls into veiling because of how reverent it is. Please pray I find a subtle creative means of introducing it to them as my wife does not attend mass with me and therefore not able to set the example.
I also plan my daughter to wear a veil full time as in no hair showing undercap and everything, start them off asap! Buy diffrent colors I reccomend jersy, chiffon, modal on temu very cheap, or pretied scarves and youtube has videos. I veil for about a year and a half now. It's modest and beautiful. I also make modest dresses. I look recoment neutral colors and in diffrent fabrics for the summer and winters. And if she gets un motivated show her diffrent styles and the bible verse 1 corinthians 11 and icons of saints veiling.. always works
Please get your wife to read the Early Church Fathers starting with Ignatius of Antioch. To be a student of history is to cease being a Protestant- St John Henry Newman. Didache and the Canon of Scripture should shock her. Pax Christi
Do you see any younger women who veil at the Church go to? I veil and I actually started because I saw many young women my age or close to it veiling when I was in college. Now, as your daughters are quite young, this might be less of a draw, but also remember since it is no longer a requirement in the Catholic Church (The SSPX which is mentioned in the video is in schism) I'd really more encourage you to let it happen naturally, you may find it very reverant, but is not wearing one truly less reverant? Is reverance a matter of externals (the veil) or of the heart?
I've veiled but only when entering catholic or orthodox affiliated churches. If I get married and if I keep going to my current church I'll likely veil every sunday yk
I attend a non denominational church, what’s your opinion on veiling outside of Catholicism? Also, the impression I’ve gotten from other Christians is that veiling is meant for married women, yet many unmarried Catholic women veil?
I have never heard that it’s only for married women. I’m familiar with Catholic and Orthodox Christianity and all women can wear head coverings. I’m not sure about nondenominational…is there anyone you can speak to in your church?
@@anastasia-fr1gn I’m not fully educated on the subject, but I have heard that in the cultural context wearing a head covering signified that you were a married woman. I’ve also heard that long hair was considered a head covering.
I think that in non-Catholic circles a head covering is a sign of marriage. So many Christians do that. It’s so in the Catholic Church too, but we also see ourselves as a bride of Christ, hence why single women also can veil. And in our church we have the blessed sacrament, which is Jesus, so we put on the veil due to his presence. So I’d say: head covering outside of church = married woman/nun (because she is married to Christ) Inside the church = every woman who consider herself a believer. Hope that makes sense.
Orthodox Christian here, I see at least a handful of veils every service I attend. I think it definitely may be more familiar to orthodoxy than others, if you walked in with a veil no one would bat an eye really. But for instance my cousins are non-denom protestants and I have sometimes attended their church with them as well (variety is the spice of life I guess 😅) but you wouldn't find anyone veiling there at all from what I remember. But I say that if you feel called to veil, just do it
I do not have instagram so the links to the shops dont seem to work for me, would you please be able to share where you found the chiffon type veil? It is so pretty! Thank you!
I used to veil when I was younger, but I had many bad experiences with traditional Catholics, that I stopped and now somewhat fear it. I'm afraid of joining that community again. The word "submission" makes me uncomfortable because of how they would use it. Any advice to work past this fear and see the true beauty of veiling?
I'm sorry you had those bad experiences, that's a pretty common thing. Some trad catholics tend to be quite harsh and rigid which is very harmful. I've experienced lots of trad catholics who bashed me for not wearing a veil, which is why I was also opposed to it in the beginning. Don't pay attention to the way people use the word "submission" but rather pay attention to what the church means by it. I would definitely read the sources I've linked, and to maybe try to veil every once in awhile to see how you feel!
The way I've looked at it, is that if they aren't my biological elders, or church clergy then I pretty well ignore them. You submit to your father, you submit to your husband, you submit to your Priest. You don't know if others have nefarious reasons for trying to make you do things. So it's best to ask those closest to you and let them handle "outsider men."
Have you ever looked into “veiling” in Islam? It’s referred to as hijab in Arabic. I’m a Mexican Muslim, converted to Islam, like many Latinos since the 80s/90s. I grew up in a Catholic family. The concept of veiling was something I was always drawn to, especially seeing Mary portrayed in churches as covered, and I saw her as a role model too. That has only increased since I converted. Mary is considered a woman of perfect faith in Islam. Chapter 19 in Quran is all about her. Eventually, this concept of modesty, humbling myself before God, focusing on my relationship with Him and striving to please my Lord is what led me to wearing hijab quickly after converting. Although being a bride of Christ has nothing to do with why we cover as Muslims, a lot of the reasons are along the same lines in terms of pleasing God, modesty, protecting our chastity, etc. And it was interesting to hear we also have parallels with hijab and men. Men are commanded by God in the Quran to exemplify modesty too, lowering their gaze as well. It’s not on women to shoulder the burden of maintaining decency in society. With hijab, there is an inward and outward expression of it. It’s more than just covering up my hair and body, it’s also about how I act and speak. I cover for no man, and I’m only doing as God has commanded me.
I am a Christian who covers and actually many of my covers are actually hijabs. I have bought many from a company called Lala Hijabs. They make beautiful hijabs. When I started to study headcovering, I was surprised to discover that Christian women used to wear head covers and they were actually identical to Muslim hijabs. ❤
@@0therM0ther.01
There will some people who love you and those who think it's strange to dress modestly or cover your hair. We don't do it for them, we do it for God!
And my experience veiling 24/7 is that it's 99% good experience. Even some non Catholic women started to veil or cover their hair too. Women and Men have approached me with positive words.
I feel the same as you do! I thought I was the only one who felt like this.
I am a Catholic from Kerala, India and it is a norm for us to veil during mass🤍
👍
Malayali ❤
Yes!! I have always gone to Mass with a veil on and even during catechism classes we were always reminded to have our veil on whenever we were in the presence of the Eucharist. Back then, I felt it was too much. But now I recognise the importance and I am planning to bring it back in my life.
As a malayalee pentecostal, we do it too
So happy to see a young creator talking about her Catholic faith. Keep posting your videos.
I'm not even catholic, I am a protestant. But I think this is absolutely beautiful. It's what women did in the bible. It would be great to bring it back to all churches and possibly even in public. Not forcing women to do it, of course, but encouraging them to.
You have the holy Catholic Church. You have 48,000 protestant CULTS
Can you explain me the biblical suport for using the veil as a submision to the church? in my understanding acording to Paul in 1Corinthian 11 the covering was used as a submision to men as the Head of the women, verses 1- 10 but then in verse 11 he explais that after jesus we are equal in front of God, and our veil is our hair, and just as it is dishonorable for a man to pray with his head covered, it is the same for a woman, since God gave us the hair. verses 11 -16:
"Nevertheless, IN THE LORD woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman.
In 1 Corinthians it states
In the Bible, there is a passage in 1 Corinthians 11 that discusses the practice of veiling during worship.
I'm Anglican, but lean more high church. I've been considering starting
God bless!
I’ve been doing the same! I’m going back for a full year of RCIA next month. It’s been mind blowing going from Mormon to Catholic
They only want sins I confessions
Not my story
This is it...
And I also cry for His people questioning Him after their abuse,
But then, I believed that rape victim with offspring of her rapist can be the bride of Christ. Beside virginity and childless are required.
.
Please listen to the story of my life,,
( When I was a baby my mother was shocked because I was on the baby incubator, because I had rashes and wounds and bleeding butt, it is all because of the male nurse, she put him into jail, Then When I was grade 3. I was sexually assaulted by my older female classmate.
.
And the most shocking fact about my life is that… my grandmother was actually raped and she conceived my mother, they give no justice, she had been abused a lot.
‘
Yet on my viewing. Last years ago when I was grade 11 I meet a rape victim in our school of course I say a lot of good things to her. And she must put that man into jail. I call for a teacher to write down with her for her case..
,
I know that from the moment I got married to Jesus, I must be responsible about (Love Mercy and Hope.) I know that the Lord is suffering for those without justice, so then I, must suffer with them.
I am just preparing about the things on this world, beside many catholic faith defenders told me that they cannot, because they had child(ren) from rapes. and I am also (preparing if ever I got raped and had child like my grandmother. rape and incest is so High here in the Philippines )
So here I am. I hope that we victims can be!
May God aloe us to received the calling we wish, since we can offer to Him everything we have!
Amen.
I had personal vow to Jesus at the adoration room
Many times.
But when I told this to catholic defenders...
They only told me
My calling must be about the concern to others..
They didn't understand.
That my heart is mourning and not selfish
What is the point
That we must pray Rosary for the souls of the purgatory,
If our calling must not depend to our concern to others?
What is the point that a rape victim can be consecrated virgin.
But the girl with child from her rapist cannot be?
Since Brides of Christ
Still go home and take care children from schools.
So basically
They can be consecrated virgin and a mother in same the day. And every day.
Because they're unmarried and with vow of celibacy...
@@sleepy_adri I do not mean to be rude or anything; but why do people emphasize/ worship Mary?
Great explanation on veils. Keep up the amazing content and spreading God's love to the world 😊✝️
I’m at a point now where NOT wearing a veil in church makes me feel naked somehow. It’s a beautiful tradition and makes me feel both humble, hidden AND beautiful for the sake of my Lord.
Agreed!
I have only been veiling for a few weeks, but I am already at that point. It feels right to be covered in church and during prayer.
Love this....veiling is definitely trending back again it's beautiful to witness
The meaning and purpose of chapel veils transcends trends. Veiling should become a real thing again, not limited to the whims of a generational trend.
@@Thomas-dw1nb agreed. I meant trending back towards being the norm, perhaps trend wasn't the right work but it's coming back!
That's true.. it's wonderful. It makes women look more lovely
I am the ONLY woman who wears a headscarf and receives Our Lord on my tongue at the Mass I attend and I often get strange looks 🙁
I prefer to wear full cloth rather than lace but that is just my preference 🤗

Same
I am seeing more and more women veiling at the Novus Ordo parishes. 🙏👏🙏

Amen
I started veiling this year to remind me who my eternal husband is, and to show her is holy and remember who I am covered by..Jesus Christ my Lord!
Dressing as a bride when going to Him. Never thought about headcovering that way. Then I feel free to chose for a veil, next to my baret. Thank you!
I'm a Catholic and I lové wearing veils
Exactly! Women should emulate Our Holy Mother in all things - including covering our heads! In fact, it was Mary who asked me to start covering my head one day while I was saying the Rosary.
As a brazilian catholic youbg man, im so proud of u
I wore a veil throughout this entire Lent full time and it was wonderful... Each day it was a choice to step towards Christ and it had difficulties... People were staring even though I'm from a predominantly Catholic country, my family wasn't pleased as well (they thought I was converting or something), sometimes I was too tired or discouraged because of other things... But I went through it all and I've never felt more victorious 😊! And I remember how I was telling myself that I wanted to try it out and it's a one time thing but I feel like I'm going to do this again next year and hopefully the one after that as well and so on 😊💪
Please do a video on dressing modestly for Christian women. ☺️❤️ Thank you for this video.
Dress however you like. There is no dress code, unless you are in a sacred place like a church.
Latin Mass around me has nothing above the knee and shoulders covered.
I thank god that a women of your intellect and beauty found her way to him. I wish nothing but the best for you.
Greetings from Germany 👋🏻✝️
Thank you for making this video! I am a new catholic and I have always been so curious why some women wore these and I wanted to wear one as well! They are pretty and now that I know there is a greater meaning to wearing it, it makes it that much more beautiful!
I just stated veiling last lent season. I felt the calling in my heart
I'm evangelical Christian, aka a protestant branch and I want to do this! I'm drawn to veils
My grandmother has always told me that she wore a Vail when she was younger, I currently live in a mostly Muslim community, so I am very comfortable with Vails,
However, every now and then I meet or see a old Catholic woman in a Vail, and for some reason that is unexpected to me 😅
Confession- I, a man, just got tired of deep ecclesiastical videos and clicked here for the cute Catholic girl.
Sorry, but thank you for sharing!
When i first joined traditional congregation I found my thoughts often wandered to the veil. I still can’t fully verbalize it, but the veil has this immense effect on the way I thought, the way I heard the teachings, the way I felt the presence of Christ…
On the most superficial level, yes, the veiled women are beautiful both young and old, but more than physically.
It common in my mother’s country in the Philippines but recently I’ve seen younger girls in my church wearing them and it’s so beautiful honestly.
This is so cool way better than the “I’m a Scorpio” girls this is true beauty. ✝️❤️🔥
Bonnet wearing was tradition in my family (think Penn Dutch, but without strict regulations on what the bonnets need to look like), I still own 2 of both of my great grandmother's bonnets. But for today's society I feel like veiling and hats are better for blending in.
Etsy is also a great place to order a veil!
I loved veiling for years and I want to thank you so much for this video.❤
In context the passage in the bible refers to a *wife*, the point was for women who were married to make it clear in church, and in those days wives would wear a head covering. The other issue is these pretty sheer veils/mantillas just draw attention to a woman's appearance and makes them look pretty (as they well know.) The idea biblically is for the woman (well , the wife really) to *cover/hide the hair* so a sheer veil doesn't really do it- it's 'cheating' to look pretty. And nowadays we don't go round wearing a head covering to indicate we're married. So, a wedding ring or something would do the job.
you look exactly like Isabella from Encanto!! you are beautiful inside and out! thank you for your witness, sister :)
I just started vailing to become more modest and humble and I LOVE IT it makes me feel like a princess and its much more respectfull to wear in church 💗
I was meditating on this a while ago and thought of the ids of the link between veiling and Passiontide (with the idea of veiling that which is sacred).
This is great video! thank you for sharing. I am a catholic relearning our faith from the very bottom up and have been looking into a veiling video!
Ooooo it’s nice you’re on YT now! I look forward to more videos
I've never heard this and I love it! Would be especially helpful when praying or studying scripture at home.
I loved this explanation! Please post more videos
hi, just fount your channel from insta, im not a catholic but have been made aware of veiling, i agree how it is something that is humbling and can help some to focus on the lord rather than draw attention to self and that would be a reason for me. i havent yet taken this practice up but i pray that the lord will lead me. God bless you
You are so beautiful. Thanks for making the world a more beautiful place.
My grandmother who was from Galicia, Spain always wore gorgeous lace mantillas (veils). Growing up I always wore a mantilla. To this day, I always cover my head with a veil as a sign of humility. I am so glad the younger generation is veiling.
Great explentation! Thank you!

@@topboytyrone3626 That's right.😅
@@EmilyDawn-w4yno you spelt it incorrectly.
God bless!
Yea, I'm not pro-choice on this issue. Cover your heads ladies!
Veiling is A beautiful gesture! And I have worn them in the day! Now a head covering makes me think of Muslim women and oppression! Many cultures are used to this tradition but I know God knows what is in my heart and not wearing one is not disrepectful!
Catholic from Alabama, god bless you young lady!
Good point! ❤
Thank you for saying this. I feel like if I take the veil it should be for God always. Not just inside His house. I feel like for myself it is not enough just to wear it to church and be done. I love seeing the tradition of the veil being worn in the church, though.
Feeling so blessed to have come across this video. The veils and yourself are beautiful!
Blessed Mother veiled and I do too. As a little girl in Catholic school we had to veil. Veil it homers our Mother in heaven.
i started veiling by just wearing a scarf and slowly built up a collection of veils that I feel comfortable wearing in church.
I want to practice veiling full time/outside of just church but I am nervous to speak about it with my mother. Do you have any advice (anyone)?
Seems like this is a practice only for women and trying to understand rationale for why only women and not men practice this is.
i wanted to start veiling for a while now, but i'm just quite anxious about what my family and my friends are going to say ://
I am the same way
I was the exact same way at first, and there have been many times where people have judged me and that's okay.
@@TheJoyfulCatholic well, i guess you're right, thank you so much! praying for you too, sister ❤️
Unfortunately, every time we step closer to Jesus and holiness the "world" protests. Ignore it. It is from Satan.
Love this! 🤍
I am 13 years old trying to get into the RCIA program. I have been told that I cannot without concentration of my parents. They are Baptists who would never accept that, so they told me I cannot. Please pray for my patience until I get to college and then can make my own decisions. God bless!
You can name your own decisions when you're 18. Good luck.
This is beautiful, good for you 🥰🙏
I want to learn please and thank you
Veiling is so nice!
i want a veil collection too, lmao! ❤😂
It's good that you respect your wife. Please keep that up.
This won't be a hard sale. Girls feel instantly like a beautiful bride and understand the meaning. Buy them both some pretty veils to choose from.
I love veiling! 🤍
Those "doliy" ones are call "chaplet veil" smaller, often worn by children, but can be worn by anyone.
Finally found a Catholic UA-camr that fit the kind of vibe that I like. 🤍
Thanks for the advice ❤
So proud of you.
I was wondering the same thing❤
So I’d say: head covering outside of church = married woman/nun (because she is married to Christ)
Inside the church = every woman who consider herself a believer.
Hope that makes sense.
@@ModernLady that makes a lot of sense ! Do you know of any articles talking about this further?
Doilies are not veals. It kills me to see people wear them. You should cover your hair.
But I say that if you feel called to veil, just do it
So good my dear friend.
I do not have instagram so the links to the shops dont seem to work for me, would you please be able to share where you found the chiffon type veil? It is so pretty! Thank you!
Such an underrated video!! Btw where is your necklace from??
@@TheJoyfulCatholic Thank you so much for that advice! I will definitely try that out 💗
The way I've looked at it, is that if they aren't my biological elders, or church clergy then I pretty well ignore them. You submit to your father, you submit to your husband, you submit to your Priest. You don't know if others have nefarious reasons for trying to make you do things. So it's best to ask those closest to you and let them handle "outsider men."
my mom would call me crazy and brain washed if i veiled
Mine too lol
Unfortunately mine made jokes about being a “mail order bride”. She’d rather me wear more revealing clothes than a veil.
❤️🩹thank you
