- A short video overview of what it takes to swap an LS into a base model 1st gen CTS. I plan on doing more videos. This car was already driving with this set up. So I can tell you first hand it works. And is cheaper than a V. Yes this is not a real V but I don’t care, I just want to have fun and do burnouts.
Sorry for the vertical recording. I promise I’ll get better at this
I seriously have been searching for this exact build because I wanna do it to mine. Please keep the videos coming.
Please continue to update us Gen 1 cts lovers on this swap.
Great info! I've been searching and searching for anything on this! I want to do this to my 03. Please keep it going man!
I feel the struggle I been looking for turbos and superchargers but there ain’t nothin
Same her 03 3.2 lit stay in touch
Same
You ever do anything to it bro?? Got a ‘03 rn I’m tryna work on
I’m going to swap my 08
Thanks for the great info bud 👌🏻
I want to do this with my 06 cts. Definitely some helpful info in this. Gotta do an update!!
Go to my page for 3 videos on everything you’ll need to know
@@integra167 appreciate the info. This my plan in the next year. I'm going to accumulate everything slowly and get ready to enjoy it.
Very cool, I am doing research on V8 swapping a 4th gen camaro
I have a 2012 CTS coupe looking to do a swap to give it more power
How to look up the motor mount
Where is a good place to get the side mounts to bolt to the block
Ctsv engine mount is got we’re on eBay. Check Facebook and the cts Facebook pages for part outs. Of you are using an iron block truck motor you’ll need ICT truck ls swap to ctsv plates.
@@integra167 so how do you use the ICT mounts with the frame mount because I got ICT mounts and the CTV mount have that one bolt in the middle to attach it
@@BigRichEHhthang100 the plates bolt to block, the you bolt the ctsv engine mounts to the plates. You still need the ctsv mounts, the plates are just adapters
@@integra167 ok so just the bottom ctsv mounts then the ICT to that
Updates?!
I have a 2011 CTS RWD… would it be a plug n play switch or what should need to be done e in order to do a complete engine swap
Only plug and play is changing all your wiring harnesses to ctsv. Best bet it so use a stand alone engine harness and pcm. Either a tuned stock pcm or aftermarket like Holley. And keep your factory body harness and fuse blocks.
I’ve got an LQ4 im getting to drop in an 09 CTS. You think you can drop the link for those adapter plates you mentioned?

Is it possible to swap a second Gen CTS? I honestly want an Escalade motor but I can settle with a 5.3 or 5.7 or something like that
Yes. But not as cheap as the 1st gen. 2nd gen you have the whole subframe from a ctsv. Or use universal weld in mounts. Search Garageless on UA-cam, he does the universal mounts. But any 2nd gen ctsv part will interchange I’m on the base model.
@@integra167 I was scared it wouldn’t be cheap 😂 I’ll check the other UA-camr out, thanks for your time. Love your build
Could be cheap if you find a subframe for the right price lol.
6.0 is best. Do it
do you think a ls2 or 3 would fit inside the 04 without problems ? Or what would I need to do
It would fit just fine. Those are already set up for cars. Just need ctsv mounts or subframe.
@@integra167 appreciate it bro , also do you believe I could use the same engine accessories as you ? along with the ctsv mods ? But without the cts v gauge cluster ?
@@Dwan_Capone yes you can use those accessories. Any car acc. set will work. As long as they are from the same set up. Like f body, truck, and gto all stick out different lengths. Can’t mix and match.
As for ctsv mods, as long as you are using ctsv stuff to swap the engine and trans in, the regular ctsv mods should work. I can’t say that for everything, but pretty much any mechanical mod should work just fine.
Also if you do stand alone like me, save your money and get the Holley terminator stuff. Then you won’t have to make your own digital cluster. If you do ctsv wiring harnesses, you can get a ctsv cluster to have a working dash
Does the ls1 drop into the v6 base and trans as well?
Ls1 would drop in as long as you have the ctsv mounts or adapt the v6 ones. A trans from the v6 will not bolt up to the ls motors. But t56, ar5, 4l60, 4l80 will all fit in the car with a little modification to the trans cross member
👍👍
Hey i have a 09 cts sedan already have a donor car silverado 5.3 engine mounts and ctsv subframe and ctsv diff do i need to change my driveshaft also is there anything else i need?
If you are running ctsv t56 transmission, you’ll need the ctsv driveshaft. If you go with any other transmission, you have to have one made for it
I'm Looking To 6.2l Swap My 07 Cadillac STS Do Anybody Have Any Helpful Information. The Internet Seems To Not Like The STS But I Love The Car Just Wish It Had More Power.
So you are saying the gen 1 cts is cheaper to swap and easier? Im thinking of getting a 03 cts manual and doing a 5.3 or 6.0 swap just wanting to make sure it able to be done without a lot of headaches and it being easy to find info and the swap parts ill need.... hopefully i can get a reply i know its an older video
The 1st gen is the easiest to swap. Not necessarily “easy”. But I’m my opinion the easiest. Because anything from the V models bolts right into the base model. And 1st gen parts are not to bad to find. Lots of part outs.
@@integra167 Do you have a parts list for it? I want to do a swap to a 05 cts base. I have a 6.0 out of a G8 GT just need a parts list
@@drufetti510 I don’t. I custom did everything for my setup. It really depends on what you want. I’ll assume you want just ctsv stuff. the basics would be ctsv engine mounts, and/or ctsv front subframe, ctsv trans crossmember, ctsv or manual option base model pedal assembly, ctsv engine and body harness with gauges. That should just about cover it.
I have a 03 CTS 5 speed 3.2 l v6. It runs great. 120k miles.
Where can I find those CTS-V mounts doing the same can't find it
Got my mounts off eBay
jerry did you find the motor mounts I cant find, please tell me if you did
Will a 2006 LS impala SS engine work in 2009 CTS ?
No, impala engines are front wheel drive only. The bell housing bolt pattern is different.
where did you get your driveshaft and how much did it cost
Had it made at a local driveshaft shop. It was about 520$. That was all new ujoints, driveshaft, yoke, and adapter from 1350 unjoint to the 3 bolt flange on the diff
Also that was a one piece steel driveshaft
Did you need to swap your oil pan?
I didn’t swap the oil pan. I’m using the factory truck one. It hangs about 1.5-2in below the crossmember. So if you are afraid you’ll hit something you can get a Fbody pan.
Will any LS engine fit in a 2009 base CTS?
yes. If you have an aluminum block it’ll bolt right in. If you have an iron block, you’ll have to buy ICT ctsv/truck adapter plates.
Truck oilpan?
Yes. Clears everything plenty. But does hang 1.5-2in lower than the subframe.
I have a 2011 awd cts, what would i have to do differently?
Pretty sure you just need a rwd front sub frame. So like a base model subframe with ctsv engine mounts like I did. Or ctsv subframe and engine mounts
