    Thank you so much for this video!! This is so helpful to understanding what I’m potentially getting myself into. Please keep them coming 😊. It’s reminding me to make videos about my experiences to help others as well.

    I’ve seen your videos throughout the years and applaud you. Keep up all that you do.
    I have lived in the DMV for the past 6 years and have been wrestling with wether I should drop my stable career in cs/systems engineering as well as comfortable lifestyle to pursue an md/phd for years now. It eats at me from time to time and videos like yours don’t help (in a good way). Specifically biomedical engineering. I’ve had this burning passion since childhood to join biomedical research to assist the disabled community. I always thought this path was the dream and ideal path. Not sure if I’ll regret it or avoiding a headache.
    Keep it up man. Very happy and proud for you

    Bro what is up with that audio. Your voice is in the left headphone and the background music is in the right. I thought my headphones were broken for a sec

    At what age did you start your MD/PhD journey? I am currently 25, and I would love to do an MD/PhD in the future, but I have some obligations to fulfill and the soonest I can start unfortunately is at 31 years old. Do you have any advice on applying as an older MD/PhD candidate? Also, nice squat form; Clarence Kennedy would be proud!

      I started at age 24 and am now 30 with 3 years left. I know people who started much later in late 20s or in their 30s. as far as advice, i think from what ive seen, older candidates tend to have diverse and interesting background and it's best to showcase those elements of yourself. in other words, it's not a flaw and don't think of it as time away from school and things that would make you a good candidate but rather recognize it as time spent maturing and exploring elements in life (such as hobbies, work, etc) that programs can appreciate.

    Great video, thanks for sharing! I'd love to know how you budget and plan for traveling/weekend trips as a student. Can you do a video on that?

    Can you finish one and then start the other program?

    • @worldwildmed
      @worldwildmed  2 роки тому +2

      Yes but it's not ideal for a number of reasons. Will take more time and way more money since you will pay for the MD

    I am hopeful that my life's journey takes me towards this career path.
    But i must ask, with repects to my first step; my associates degree. Is Public Health ok to start with or which program would you recommend?

    • @worldwildmed
      @worldwildmed  3 місяці тому

      sorry can you clarify? are you asking if it's okay to get an associates degree in public health?
      regardless, it doesn't really matter what you get your degree in as long as you find it interesting, you succeed at it (e.g. get good grades), and check off the premed requirements. In other words you can major in public health, sociology, film, etc. as long as you take your bio/chem/physicics/math courses as well.

      @worldwildmed Apologies, I intended to say, "Is an Associates Degree in Public Health a good first step towards something that can lead to Med School?"
