As a 62 year old white woman, I just wanna say these 3 have been my absolute favorite's since I was 14 years old. They were and their music is still absolutely the best in my opinion.
Even with the sales numbers they had and the legion of fans, The Bee Gees have to be the most under appreciated group ever. Case in point - this song was a huge hit all over the world except America where DJs would not play this record because of their hate and blame for the disco era which was a dirty word in 1987.
My mum adored this Bee Gees song. I love it too. My own person fav is 'for whom the bell tolls'. To be honest I don't think I've ever heard a bad Bee Gees song. They have also written numerous hits for some if the world's biggest stars. They are legends without a doubt. The word was made for them.
This was a perfect 80’s song. Much more pop than disco. They had the ability to constantly write songs for the times from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, and they are still relevant, fun and timeless.
Fun fact: as the 'disco' era and the anti-disco movement was still fresh in people's memories, it was hard for the Bee Gees to get any songs played on air. They were boycotted on everything. Their album in '82 flopped for that reason. Hence they started writing for other people (Diana Ross, Kenny Rogers, Dionne Warwick). But for 'You Win Again' they used an old trick that they used back in the early days when the broadcasting companies didn't want to play their music. They made copies with only the title of the song printed and send thise to the companies. They heard the new sound and were played again. After a few weeks they revealed their identity and regained some of their status back.
Mo recorded what he called "the stomps" in his garage and they used it for the beat all through the song. The record company wanted it taken out, they said no. Take it out of the intro, they said no. It became a trademark for them. As soon as you hear that sound you know it's the Bee Gees. If you notice the dice and dominos and other things in the video it shows that a relationship is a gamble and the black cat is bad luck.
Have been waiting for you to respond to this song. I love the music and the words are just the best!!! This was Princess Diana’ favorite song, wonder why? Thank you, the fans of The Bee Gees thank you!!
Music is very addicting and I promise no one will ever regret having an addiction to these God sent Angels. I just love Barry the way he dances to this song. Perfection!!
Please try Alone and For whom the bell tolls as examples of their later work. Just incredible. The black cat in the video symbolises luck. He is talking about winning so hence the cat for luck. Not sure about US but a black cat in UK is a sign of luck if one crosses your path.
My opinion on the imagery of the video...black cat ESP cards, rolling dice, domino tiles etc al speak to the theme of chance, luck, and fate in love relationships. Also this song came from their ESP album. This is a recurring theme in their songs. a line from "One" is, "Im on a wheel of fortune with a twist of fateI agree with you about the complexity of the songs. They layer it like painting with music.
So much to do for you, on your Bee Gees Journey, many thanx! Maurice mixed the catchy stomp in this song in his garage. And it was cut in studioversion without any correcting. They played it live on Princess-Trust Concert. You can see Lady Diana in enthuasmus, wild clappin'.
Hi Chad. Love all your reviews. The Bee Gees are always full of surprises. One of their 70's song "Love So Right" was a hit for them in 1976 and went to number 3. Barry was just starting to use his falsetto and this song showcased his talent. Hope you like it.
🥀👣🥀Beautiful Song no doubt amazing lyrics, vocals and music is unbelievable but incredible. I love the attitude that's in this song because it's this is a powerful & true artist 🥀☝️🥀👣🥀
Almost forgot this song until recently. So lovely, and has a very modern sound also. Every time I hear Robin sing "oh girl," I melt. That line is so hauntingly beautiful. This girl on the video brings to mind some of the girls in the Cars, Robert Palmer or Duran Duran videos of that era. And for me, cats and Bee Gees are a great combination! ♡
Hi Chad, I'm irish (born) english, & ADORE The Bee Gees & all of the songs. Just beautiful. I was in my 20's in the 80's & perfect timing to see (on tv) them then & now xxx
It didn't do well in the US as much as it did in the UK. (You Win Again) Maurice stated one time that it was princess Diana's favorite song by them. I thought I'd share that with ya
Another favorite of mine, such good harmonies. I think the Black Cat was insinuating that she was a witch & had him under her spell. Just my take on it 👍🏻♥️♥️♥️
Found it! Looks like you've been listening to The Brothers for over a year now! They have a large enough catalog for sure! This song was Princess Diana's favorite! Maurice created the "stomps" on his new equipment in his garage!
Love everyone’s theories about the cat and symbolism in the video. I usually never bother trying to figure that out! The song itself is great. So upbeat and catchy.
I absolutely love how they incorporated their falsetto harmonies in this song in such a sublime way. It's like a little homage to their Saturday Night Fever days..
I was betting that this was #1 in Germany, because it has the techno-pop beat they love. Yes, #1 in Europe including West Germany (pre-tear down this wall). Their fashions are very European as well.
This is one of my favorites 💞♥️, out of the 70's classics. I love them all from ALL the Decades ! Are you a Fleetwood Mac fan (yet) or NIGHTWISH ? Nightwish comes with a 30,000 + army of Faithful Reactors Followers !!! I just found you TODAY, and I am having so much fun !!!
I have been a lover of these THREE men since they were very young boys in Brissie but to even this day i wonder WHY Mo was always seeming to be on the outside looking in. Thanks mate.
They’ve said sometimes they didn’t have control over the video portion only the audio, and they didn’t always like when a video had nothing to do with the lyrics (Re: cat).
If you have not done it yet, could you do the Live Version. of Love So Right from the Here At Last Album. Also Edge of the Universe from the same album. Wind of Change and Down the Road from the same album from 1976. The whole album is amaziing!
Just a guess but showing games and black cats usually are thought to be bad luck. I don’t think they are but some do. So my guess taking chance even things may not always be going right. ❤
They! did an amazing Live Version of this songfrom the Prince's Trust concert with Phill Collins on the drums. I believe it was from the early to mid 80s.
This song, actually all their songs, have many meanings. Symbolism is everywhere in their songs and videos. I'm not saying what I think a few things actually meant. They were ornery.
One of my favorite songs, but do not care for this video because it is a distraction. Know it was purposely done, but doesn't do song any justice (in my opinion). Chad, there are other videos of this song which let you appreciate the song and performance. My personal favorite happens to be the one with most views. Barry in blue jeans, short sleeve shirt, and no guitar. Also, you said Robin's portion was an ad lib. They were perfectionists who worked on every little detail and doubt that was an ad lib. No drum was used in the recording. Maurice came up with the sound in his garage. He wanted a different sound for the driving beat. When it came time to record song, other people in studio tried to get them to use a drum. Maurice said "no" this is the sound WE want and the only way we will do it (loved that about them). They were the complete package which only added to their greatness.

I love Robin's vocals on this.
Me too!! I'm mesmerized by his voice..
Thanks for the great reaction! Yes, the first and only time I’ve seen Barry with his hair in a ponytail. They remain the best group ever!!
This is the only time I've seen Barry with his hair pulled back. I like it. Hard to believe I was only 21 in '87.
Think about it these guys started performing as a group in 1958.
They did this live for Princess Diana. It was a favorite song of hers.
Yeah coz she knew she was being played too.
The Bee Gees extended from the 1960s throught the 2000s that's staying power for sure.
Even with the sales numbers they had and the legion of fans, The Bee Gees have to be the most under appreciated group ever. Case in point - this song was a huge hit all over the world except America where DJs would not play this record because of their hate and blame for the disco era which was a dirty word in 1987.
Ditto!!! Altho l would change one word - under appreciated for persecuted. I'm an Alison as well.
Well we know Americans are not very smart sometimes!!! Being American I loved this song and still do!!!

Barry is great in this song and Robin....always my favourite
The best group of brothers ever
Would not be The Bee Gees without Maurice input.
Hi Chad. Welcome to the beautiful sound of 3 angels
When Robin sings “oh, girl, oh, baby” it just makes me swoon!!!
Nobody could drop an oh baby or an oh girl like Robin!
Love Robin. He is my favorite of the BeeGees. They were all needed to get the sound right but Robin is still my favorite ❤️❤️
Bee Gees-You Win Again 1987 is awesome!
Fun fact: as the 'disco' era and the anti-disco movement was still fresh in people's memories, it was hard for the Bee Gees to get any songs played on air. They were boycotted on everything. Yes, loved the pony tail. Lol
Aside from their EPIC musical abilities, what makes the BEEGEES so AMAZING is that every song tells a story.
Have been waiting for you to respond to this song. I love the music and the words are just the best!!! This was Princess Diana’ favorite song, wonder why? Thank you, the fans of The Bee Gees thank you!!
1 time I watched this video 10 time, in a row!!
🖤🥀🖤AMAZING SONG AMAZING BEE GEES🖤🥀🖤☝️☝️☝️☝️
I find that if you just look up the lyrics to all theirs songs, it's literally poetry. I love them for their harmonies, their composing and producing.
Music is very addicting and I promise no one will ever regret having an addiction to these God sent Angels. I just love Barry the way he dances to this song. Perfection!!
Their comeback No 1 hit.
Love the BeeGees!
Please try Alone and For whom the bell tolls as examples of their later work. Just incredible. The black cat in the video symbolises luck. He is talking about winning so hence the cat for luck. Not sure about US but a black cat in UK is a sign of luck if one crosses your path.
But it’s Good Luck if you own a Black Cat, they bring their owner good luck. I love black cats, I think they’re beautiful.
My opinion on the imagery of the video...black cat ESP cards, rolling dice, domino tiles etc al speak to the theme of chance, luck, and fate in love relationships. Also this song came from their ESP album. The black cat is a symbol of luck or unluck, it depends in which Country you live. By the way, I think cats are always good beings to watch. 🐱😘💋
Run to me is another good song. There are so many!
My favourite Bee Gees song for decades.
My 'go to song ' 🥰
This is one of my favorites!!!
The cat, the dice- luck bad or good (symbolism)!

Thank you, this song is great and alot of people overlook it nowadays. I don't know why. Thanks for playing it.
Chad. Thanks for keeping it REAL!!! GREAT commentary!!!
🥀👣🥀Beautiful Song no doubt amazing lyrics, vocals and music is unbelievable but incredible. I love the attitude that's in this song because it's this is a powerful & true artist 🥀☝️🥀👣🥀

I agree this is what we call in a relationship two people being in a different place but he holds out hope she will find him.
It didn't do well in the US as much as it did in the UK. (You Win Again) Maurice stated one time that it was princess Diana's favorite song by them.
I thought I'd share that with ya
Was number one for four weeks here in the UK unfortunately no where in the US
Only because of almost no airplay. Still being persecuted by the negative music media.
Another favorite of mine, such good harmonies. I think the Black Cat was insinuating that she was a witch & had him under her spell. Just my take on it 👍🏻♥️♥️♥️
The guys where great in this song.
Found it! Looks like you've been listening to The Brothers for over a year now! They have a large enough catalog for sure! This song was Princess Diana's favorite! Maurice created the "stomps" on his new equipment in his garage!
Robin's ad-libs were the best part in a lot of their songs imho. Random Fact.....You Win Again was Princess Diana's favorite song.
Barry Gibb rocking the pony tail!
MO always my favourite Brilliant musician can play anything.
Love is their goal. Most songs. Who doesn't love Love. Would love to hear Barry's, Shine, Shine. Love that solo.Your the best, Chad💌
Chad. I enjoy watching you ❤️
My fave BGs tune. And Barry is total eye candy with the ponytail. He looks like Chris Hemsworth. ❤️
Love this song. I prefer their outdoor live performance of it with Phil Collins.
Love the Bee Gees and I love this song!!
"Continually surprised you." Well there ya go!!
Hi Chad,. This is a great song. I don't care for the video,. I just love to watch them stand. And sing. 😍😍😍
There are 2 songs that Maurice sings lead on..
Closer than Close.
Man in the middle.
There are many more than that. He did at least 1 song on all their albums. 'Wildflower' 1981, is one of my fav BG songs
And dimensions, overnight
.
My father loves Bee Gees
Listened to this song today while training with him
His 57 and he lifts above 100kg in bench which im impressed!
Love you inside out. Another song
Very good!! React Words Bee Gees Live one nigth only...
Love this song. 😊
Please react to SHE KEEPS ON COMING by the Beegees thanks
Yes, please do!
I was betting that this was #1 in Germany, because it has the techno-pop beat they love. Yes, #1 in Europe including West Germany (pre-tear down this wall). Their fashions are very European as well.
I love you, Too chad!
Maurice is pronounced Morris. 😍
The cat is always the inscrutable observer
This is one of my favorites 💞♥️, out of the 70's classics. I love them all from ALL the Decades ! Are you a Fleetwood Mac fan (yet) or NIGHTWISH ? Nightwish comes with a 30,000 + army of Faithful Reactors Followers !!! I just found you TODAY, and I am having so much fun !!!
Check out their song, Bodyguard from around this era. Really a good showcase song for Robin. Great video for it, also.
Yes!!!!!!!
Reaction Love so Right live in Austin
You win again ♦️♠️ 🎲
And it was all done without autotune
Please react bee gees " bodyguard"
This was Lady Diana’s favorite song.
The cat is there because he's cool. Just subscribed!!
That is Barry's cat featured (Lol not really)
You are correct...the BEST song writers...up there with The Beatles!
I have been a lover of these THREE men since they were very young boys in Brissie but to even this day i wonder WHY Mo was always seeming to be on the outside looking in. Thanks mate.
Still got this on 7" vinyl from about 1987.
They’ve said sometimes they didn’t have control over the video portion only the audio, and they didn’t always like when a video had nothing to do with the lyrics (Re: cat).
The cat,and the dice, are all about luck. You win again, how lucky can you get.
The cat and the dominoes and die represent the elements of luck and gambling involved in finding true love in a relationship.
React to ( Someone belonging to someone ) by the great bee gees
There are no other..
Do something from Maurice, he has one with his twin "Love never dies" never see anyone doing it.
A little late , but I have to say Barry can really rock that ponytail. Hope he never tries a man bun!!!
written in 86, recorded in 87
1987. I was 2 years old.
They also wrote for barbera Streisand, dianna Ross, dolly Parton and Kenny Roger's etc
We also know their song “Love You Inside and Out” and would love for you to react to it!
Go to Wikipedia and look up "You Win Again" . There was no drum used on that recording. Read the piece on how this song was made.
The theme is to do with gambling on life, so dice, black cat and dominoes.
If you have not done it yet, could you do the Live Version. of Love So Right from the Here At Last Album. Also Edge of the Universe from the same album. Wind of Change and Down the Road from the same album from 1976. The whole album is amaziing!
❤
This video was done in Maurice's garage so that's probably his house cat.
This was their last number 1# hit if i'm not mistaken....I stand corrected.
Yes! Phil was clearly enjoying sitting in with them.
In the late 1980s, the "ponytail" was in fashion for men 😉
Himmel noch mal Bee Bees wer die nicht kennt .....der lebt nicht auf diesem Planeten
This song, actually all their songs, have many meanings. Symbolism is everywhere in their songs and videos. I'm not saying what I think a few things actually meant. They were ornery.
Black and white- everything including the cat black and white no in between
One of my favorite songs, but do not care for this video because it is a distraction. Know it was purposely done, but doesn't do song any justice (in my opinion).
