- Zbrush & Keyshot Character Rendering Tutorial - Alien Creature Design HD
This Zbrush & Keyshot tutorial is a follow up to the Alien creature design, in which we created and alien creature sculpt in Zbrush.
This time we go real time to take a look at how we can export our sculpt from Zbrush into keyshot without using KeyshotBridge and still preserve the details, as well as polypainting information. We’ll discuss how to quickly generate a UV map with built in UVmaster plugin and use it to project texture and normal maps. Once the Zbrush sculpt is imported into Keyshot, we'll take a look at the Keyshot rendering workflow: how to save cameras and modify HDRI maps to suit our artistic lighting needs. This video also covers material tweaking and rendering passes for later use in compositing.

What a wonderful tune! Time to get to work myself. Hearing your music always inspires me! 🎺🎶🎧💞
This tut helped out a lot with my new sculpt! Thanks!
Great series! Thank you.
Awesome. Thank you
Very useful ! Thank you !
Great Video! I would love to see your Polypaint workflow! :)
awesome, very usefull thanks!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU TOTALLY SAVED MY ASS FOR MY HOMEWORK
Thank you a lot ! it really helped now no need to use the stupid expensive bridge
Hey, one question. Is importing low poly only for performance boost or is it good for something else? Would I get the same with max poly without bump map?
Loved the video. Do you have any tips on hair materials in Keyshot for fibermesh?
ur character looks like a very wise guy
When I send the model directly to keyshot with de bridge, what do I have to send? my high poly? or low poly, and what about normals
Hi, Whenever I click "New from polypaint" in the texture map tab the top half of my mesh goes black and the texture map is missing the top half of the uvs, what do I do? I have been looking everywhere for a fix.
My next new job is being an full-length and full creature designer, w hen get my 1 bedroom house sorted out.
When i import my texture color, it tiles all across the face in little tiny pictures, not like in zbrush :( what am i doing wrong?
solved my own problem. for those who experience this, change "Mapping type" to UV coordinates
@@CherylynnLima I have the sam issue, but can't find tha "mapping type" section... I use keyshot 7.1 pro
If I have a multiple subtool... should I merge them all and than use uv unwrap for keyshot
Does anyone know if there is a way to render the scene you setup in keyshot back in Zbrush? I like some materials in both programs but want to be able to render say same resolution and angle of the character back in Zbrush so I can layer rendered images in photoshop from both programs.
Any reason you're not using the ZPlugins for UV and texture generation? I mean is the conservative approach better?
i can not put the texture map on the right position. i checked many times..... it still dont work
Need urgent help!... When I import the texture map to the material menu, it doesnt work well, it wraps it with a lot of little planar versions of the png file ive got (even with the black in between the mini color maps). Could you help?
I had the same issue, make sure its set to UV Coordinates instead of Box map in the Type selection :)
I can't see any difference comparing to VRay's output except Keyshot is in every way faster and easier. BTW The character sculpted is very similar to my sweet Megan.
How did you export the eyes?
i did it ty and nice tutorial !
for those that don't have keyshot bridge... in other words people who stole the software lol
Allan Palmer ay man you know me so well 😎
ahahah I was searching for this
Zbrush keeps crashing right after I hit the Unwrap option, can someone tell me why does that happen and how can I do it right.
Redon Sejdiu go to preferences, go to MEM. Set the slider to 512 and hit compact now. It will solve all crashing problems for a while, then you will have to do it again.
I can't click on Normal Map/ Create NormalMap. Dunno why, can you help me?
Do you have UVs on your model? also you have to be on the lowest subdivion level
UVs are a big dea. Subdivs too.
I learnt the hard way
my zbrush crashes everytime I hit unwrap UV ... any idea why ?
sameeeee :(
its a bugged shitty program , i had the same issue but when i hit unwrap it does not change plus i can't change the color material and many dumb things , when i re-installed it everything got back in handy but still have different bugs
When I unwrap everything becomes red. What am I doing wrong?
+MineJojoCrafter Maybe try to make polygroups!
When I first clicked "create texture from polypaint", half of my model turned black but then I made 3 polygroups and the problem was gone!
I hope that helped :)
are you working in this? or just it's a hobby?
Жаль не на русском)
*NOOB NEEDS HELP* I think there s a mistake (from 4:00 to 6:20) where you explain how to export normal map and obj model. You mention that details are taken from highest subdiv level, (4:26), but you create normal map from lowest subdiv (once you deleted the first 2 levels, now 3th corresponds to 1st one, the lowest one). After that, you export the model from same sobdiv level aswell. My question is, shoudlt Normal mal be generated form HIGHEST subdiv level, instead of the lowest one? So you can project all detail from that map over the obj model (generated from lowest subdiv).
I hope I make myself clear, and hope anyone can help me, Im noob :(
the alien looks like Michael Jackson RIP(confirmed child molester now)
great tutorial btw
