Not to take anything away from this show in any way, because I love it, know several people involved, including Tim, it had been over 20 years, and Tim made it his own, but Mr. Show also had an epic "lawyer-ad" sketch (based on Larry H. Parker) who just wanted to hang out. "Mr. Show Don Pratt" if you wanna look it up.
That attention to detail is what separates comedic geniuses from people doing overly structured "bits" that aren't that funny.

After dozens of rewatches I'm actually convinced he's telling the truth. Tim's wife has a new boyfriend and his son has always been rude to him. Robby is the only one who supports his dreams.
