If police did not take actions fast when a tourist in trouble sri lanka social media and main stream media will make a big fuss about it even tv stations show about those. so the police take actions very fast. as a indian(or any other foreign tourist ) you will get faster response from the police and law enforcement if you were in trouble than regular sri lankan in trouble . In sri lanka if you are in trouble call police or tourist help hotline they will help you immediately. In Down south any sane robber will never rob a tourist(brown or white) . People will kill the robber or sent the robber to ICU even before the police arrive . People in those areas depend on the reputation because those areas classified as safe places to travel alone . So the people live in the area will never hesitate protect that reputation .
Hi Ella, next time remember to ask the taxi guy if he has change to give back to you. If not you can go to a shop or store and buy something small or just ask them to give you change. People are very helpful in Sri Lanka. With taxis and tuk tuks be mindful and ask these questions before you take the ride :)
@@IRG849 Hi, thank you for watching and giving advice 😊 I did have a receipt from the taxi company that stated the price for the journey and I agreed that price with the driver before I got in his car but when I arrived at the destination that’s when he told me he had no change and as it was late at night and I’d just arrived I didn’t know the location of shops etc so just wanted to get inside my hostel. This is just something you have to deal with at times when travelling but the majority of people I met in Sri Lanka were so helpful I just got a bit unlucky with the taxi driver but I didn’t let it affect my experience or views on Sri Lanka at all! I love Sri Lanka it’s one of my favourite countries ❤️
