    When I read the book way back and pointed out that someone got literally SA’d and also ended up with that person, I suggested that there should be trigger warnings and it should NOT be romanticized. Somehow I summoned all the credence fans who continued to attack me, so this video really cured my soul

    15:07 coho has a son. Hes just ALLEGEDLY a piece of garbage who SA'd someone and Coho blocked her. Allegedly...
    Edit: sorry, I was mistaken. Apparently it was sexual harassment of a minor. Which is... also a crime.

      Honestly she strikes me as a boy mom. But even if this isn't true and her son is innocent, her books are awful and she needs to seriously question the kind of audience she has built that excuses SA and abuse.

      Iirc it was sexual harassment which is still disgusting. But yeah that was a whole mess nonetheless and I hope his victim has found healing. 22 year olds have no business talking to 16 year olds period and he still committed a crime, I just wanted to say something about the misinformation surrounding it. CoHo defending her son instead of doing the right thing is gross

    • @krystinay
      @krystinay 5 місяців тому +5

      @sleepysadpoet ah yes, you're right. He was 22 and she was 16. So smexually harassing a minor which if he even tried to meet up with her would have been a crime. Where's Chris Hanson when you need him

      @@krystinayit's all foul and disgusting behavior definitely. And the way CoHo was silent about it for months after it came out is gross too. 22 year olds have no business talking to 16 year olds

    a while ago i saw a person on ig reels promoting credence as an “age-gap romance” book without even mentioning the GROOMING AND SA??? like how can you promote that to your audience in good conscience 😭😭

    I feel like the Van Der Berg naming is very, like, medieval, before surnames became separated from occupation - names like Smith/Schmidt, Müller, Schneider, and other characteristics that made characters stand out in a smaller community. Like, ah, it's John from the mountain, he comes into the village and helps the farmers with fixing their stables, brings materials from the mountains and lives secluded there most of the year. Like that makes a lot of sense.

    Im a middle school teacher (7th-8th grade) I’m not joking when I say when I saw a student carrying this book around with them I almost fell over (never read but heard it was bad). I don’t understand how YOUNG teens can just walk out of a bookstore with this book??? Or why can’t they come with some sort of an explicit label to put on the front cover like a CD used to lol

    • @eospolaris9472
      @eospolaris9472 5 місяців тому +8

      Books don't really have explicit labels which, thinking about it, is kinda odd. I could check out 50 shades from the library when I was 13/14 too :/

      I saw one of my students carry around one of these fairy prince arranged marriage books last year, and she was 14 or 15. Now I don't know if these are YA and NA but it still felt real weird to see these books I see torn apart on reviews read by children in my environment. Reading your comment, it made me kind of glad most of the students I tutor do not actually read books unless forced to lol

    I’m here from the future to tell everyone that I name dropped Credence to as many authors as possible to authors at the convention I was working at and they all had the same disgusted reaction as we bonded over what the hell is wrong with book tiktok/ ‘reading community’ for women these days(cuz I feel like corn content is being pushed onto women right now like they keep shoveling garbage at us specifically as if we can’t read normal books or something, bigotry of low expectations) and then I bought a ton of their books so if anything ever stands out to me I’m recommending it to the channel unless it’s 500+

    I'm so ready for more videos discussing how terrible the dark romance genre is. Yes, it's fictional, but we need to critique the kinds of books that are created and what kind of discussions they promote. The dark romance community tends to fail on every regard because instead of sticking by the stance that fiction is fiction, they tend to romanticize horrific stories and call them "beautiful love stories". A "love story" cannot be beautiful and also include grape, SA, and predatory behavior from the love interest.
    Clearly none of these authors have the actual capabilities to write good redemption stories that involve the abuser acknowledging what they did was wrong and getting away from the victim, because dark romance relies on the idea that the abuser never changes so he can continue being dark. So instead, they end up trying to justify his actions as a way to redeem him. Thus, dark romances end up being insulting to SA survivors for attempting a justification. It's far more disgusting to try to justify SA than to write your problematic kinky fantasies surrounding it. Because at least then I know that you know that SA isn't good and you just enjoy it as a fantasy, and I don't have to wonder what you actually think about SA survivors in real life because you wrote whole ass books trying to say that it was okay the love interest SA'ed the mc because he had trauma 🤦‍♀️.
