There was always a "meaning" feeling in their songs, honestly trying to connect with the listener and getting their message through the music&lyrics. One of the myriad reasons I never get tired of their music and has a rejuvenating effect on me. Plus the joy, oh the joy! 😍 Excellent reaction, thanks! 👍
Nowadays, music-experts like you are able to hear how good they were (are). Just genius for eternity. Hard to believe, but those days when Bee Gees came up with funky-rockin' R&B, most of the magazines were tryin' to write them down. Seldom, they were treaten fair.
Great points made by your panel, especially giving detailed props to the composing/songwriting/production of this perennialtrack. I love your comments about my favorite band of all time-- replacing my still- beloved Beatles in 1970. I'm happy with the music of both groups till death!
I was happy in the end that you acknowledge that they had been around for many years even since they were kids in the 50's. That ofcourse meant they did not always have the Falsetto sound. It was only in the periode from 1975 to 1979 this was the sound they were going for, And that in a total span from 1963 where their fist single came out until 2001 where they made their last album. Their master piece reagrding the falsetto has to be Too Much Heaven, so try and react to that or maybe Reaching Out which is nearly just as good. Both from their 1979 Spirits Having Flown albun.
They wore mainly suits (in their early performances, (turtleneck) sweaters and shirts, the open shirts, jackets were only part of their "disco time (songs)"! Fashion photographer Francesco Scavullo apparently created the iconic look for the Saturday Night Fever album cover. Barry said: "We didn't even know who the guy was. He brought the clothes, "Here, try these". So suddenly there we were, looking like Abba. It was just a little bit of fun.” Robin emphasized: "We were never really aware of the image. Half the time we just walked around in jeans and a t-shirt.”
Correction: It was about facial hair, not chest hair!! Their manager put this and the initial video for Stayin Alive in the vault, told Barry to grow his beard back, and film again. Because Night Fever had already been out for a bit, they filmed Stayin Alive and HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE, instead. The 2 videos with beardless Barry weren’t released until more recent years. Barry wrote GREASE for Frankie Valli, produced it, and provided backing vocals. Please react to it!!
If you didn’t live through this era you’d have no idea how huge disco and The Bee Gees were!! It was a cultural phenomenon!! But it was like a skyrocket! Up up up …explodes…then it’s gone!!
The tune is in a part of Saturday night fever where there is a group on the dance floor at 2001 , in Brooklyn, dancing a choreographed style of a dance style. The disco really existed, I went to it many times.
Love your comments & may subscribe....but only if you continue down Bee Gees Road!😂In the video, the brothers are singing in a darkened studio, layered over background video filmed while driving along "Motel Row"....a 3 mile motel strip in what is now Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. Most the motels in the video are now closed or demolished, but reminiscent of some of Las Vegas's biggest resorts.

They wrote all the songs for Saturday night fever. Recorded, it wrote it in a weekend. They hold the world record for the most number one hits and shortest amoun of time. Five Number one hits written recorded and weekend. That's crazy.
Speaking of transitions, how about "Transitions" by Ween? I've been in LOVE with that song lately. The Bee Gees were my first favorite band at age 6 (I'm pushing 34 now). I still love them and they were just SO good at what they did. "Kilburn Towers" is one of my favorites from their earlier psychedelic sound.

I love the Bee Gees! Just a few songs to consider:
To Much Heaven
To Love Somebody
Words
TonWhom the Bells Toll
Thanks!
That falsetto appeared just as you describe in Nights on Broadway. We need a high ad lib to take it out, arif Marden apparently said

They donated all proceeds from Too Much Heaven to UNICEF,these guys were great! You couldn't listen to radio in the 70's and not hear them.

They do what they want anyways; they're the Bee Gees lol.
Classic disco
Not the official video - you really need that to make this make justice to the song.

💪👍🤛
Nights on Broadway was when it started
This is when they broke ground on using a drum loop.
Anybody that don't move and groove on this track is dead check your pulse!!😅
They didn't really make savvy videos then it was all the music
