- After my final night camping I begin my journey towards home. My first stop is the Brecon Mountain Railway. Arriving at the main station 'Pant', we take a look around the workshops before boarding our train. Due to maintenance taking place on the main service locomotive, the replacement, the 1908 built Jung 'Graf Schwerin-Löwitz' No. 99-3553 was unable to tackle the bank up to Torpantau, so we did turn back early at Dolygaer before our break at Pontsticill and the final climb back to Pant. This fact was advertised, and the unusual traction still attracted me to the railway.
The Brecon Mountain Railway runs for a total of 5 miles, from Pant, just above Merthyr Tydfil, into the Brecon Beacons, offering spectacular views and a wonderful journey.
