Brad knows what a riff is now, people, we are gaining ground. Brad will be a rocker in due time!
with all his Rock Band video game comments I think he has been since he was a kid
Let him start a bit slower more main stream rock, Bob Seger, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac... Not everyone can make the jump to harder faster stuff as easily as others.
Man I've been a huge fan since day one. Godsmack has gotten me through the toughest times of my life.
Ditto. If not for Iron Maiden and Godsmack, I'm not sure where I would be.
Godsmack rocks. I've liked them for a long time. They put on a good show in concert, too.
Saw Godsmack open for Dio in 97 and I thought, Wow! Dio will never top that! Then he did. But Godsmack is awesome live.
I saw them in 99. They put on a great show. I agree.
I saw them with STP years ago. It might be one of the best concerts I have seen as both bands lit it up. It might be as close to a perfect concert as I have seen (sans Weiland stripping nude on stage, which I didn't need to see).
I saw them live at a pool hall in early 1998 and still to this day, it was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to!
Godsmack is one of the best bands of the 90s and 2000s. Their catalog is bigger than most. seen them 3 times live. what an act
Great live show! Been to about 3 as well.👍🏼
One of the best bands of the 90’s? 🤣
@@David-cr3pt Well they were formed in the 90's and the first album came out in '98 and went gold by '99 and 4x platinum by 2001. Sure most of their work came out in the 2000's, but not bad for a first album.
I like a few of their songs, and their acoustic album is outstanding, but outside that I never really got too much into them
Saw them live at a pool hall in early 1998 before most people even knew who they were and and still to this day, it was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to!
There is nothing nonchalant about Godsmack when that bass and heavy guitar smack you in the face. They are the best of the time in my opinion. You have to check out whatever, moon baby and time bomb just to name a few 🤘🎸🎵🎵🎵
Voodoo 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Moon baby!!
Gotta do “Whatever” next‼️💯🔥 “Awake”,”Moonbaby” “1000 HP” “When Legends Rise” “Something Different”‼️🔥🔥🔥 Chill vibe? Try “Serenity”‼️💯🔥🤯🤯
Godsmack definitely one of my faves‼️In concert they are AWESOME‼️💯🤯 Love the reactions‼️ Even to songs I’m not into very much just to see what direction Lex’s analogy is going to go‼️ Loving the content‼️💯👀👊🏼
boo, bad godsmack suggestions.
“Whatever”“Awake”"Moonbaby” are good
@@overkill1025 gtfoh‼️ I didn’t say for Overkill to react did I?
"It's not quite grunge, but it definitely has a grunginess about it."
You can really feel the influence of AIC on them.
They did name their band after an AiC song, after all.
They started as AIC tribute band.
That's a Jerry Cantrell influenced solo for sure.
@@cirexmusic: I never knew that...Thanks...
eh their own sound. which song sounds like alice in chains? and which alice in chains song sounds like godsmack? i understand their origins but doesnt sound like any alice in chains ive heard for the past 30 years
"Awake" takes that grunginess and power to another level.
Loved this reaction. Brad talking about "hard/tough guitar riffs" and "listening to the music a little bit". And Lex with her, "dirty like sink pipes", and ending like "residual pops of grease after you turn off a fryer".
That straight sludge 🤘🏻🙌🏻🫡☺️
Brad got the riff!!! He's changing lol.
Alice In Chains has a song called godmack. One of Godsmacks members said they got the name from the AIC song but the lead singer of Godsmack said it wasn’t and gave some weird story about how it came to be. They were influenced by AIC so it’s likely they got the name from the AIC song.
Yesss! I love that song!!
Godsmack was so lit in my teens. Helped defined a whole time period for me. Gritty, no BS hard rock. And they do a hell of a live show as well. You guys should check out "Godsmack - Drum Battle HD - Sully Erna vs Shannon Larkin" live. A lot of your fellow reactors have done it already, and it's a hell of a performance. It's vocalist Sully (who's also a drummer) battling Godsmack drummer Shannon Larkin. Epic af.
Edit: Oh yea, and that "grunginess" you're hearing in this song is called post-grunge. Grunge faded, but many bands adopted the sounds and technique. This is mostly noticeable in the mid-late '90s/early '00s and has largely been integrated into rock as a whole now. Godsmack would technically be classified as nu-metal/hard rock/post-grunge.
I can't remember what Godsmack songs you've reacted to, but these are a must...
Crying Like A Bitch, Whatever, 1000hp, I Stand Alone, Straight Outta Line, Awake
"Love,Hate,Sex,Pain'' .. is absolutly incredible. "Moon Baby'' slaps hard too. Also "One Rainy Day'' is a masterpiece but for some reason most people sleep on it.
I heavily agree with every part of your comment!
@@davidvasquez115 Very glad to hear that dude. Cheers
Godsmack-1000HP. For the love of god please!!! 😂😂😂
Love this band for so many years. Also great live 🤘
Been a huge fan of them since their first album. Saw them and metallica back in 04 and I don't need to say how awesome it was. Best concert I've ever been to.
They're named after an Alice in Chains song, Godsmack which addresses people's use of God's name as a drug and how that cheapens it to the point where it's not taken seriously basically. AIC had a farther reaching influence than a lot of people realize. Nirvana may have influenced the industry, but AIC influenced MUSIC.
Well God should not be taken seriously he does not intervene.
The name is a coincidence. The band name actually came from an inside joke
@@Lurch685 I thought I heard an interview where one of the band memebers said they named the band Godsmack after the AIC song. I can't give a link, because it was a long time ago.
@@Lurch685 ... correct... due to a member being teased about a canker sore. Their name had nothing to do with the song by AIC
@@HardKore5250 ... such statements shouldn't be made with such certainty. God's 100% in control... but He only intervenes according to HIS will & purpose, not ours. He is not a genie to draw wishes from.
Hell yeah…good band!!
LMAO LEX !!!! Hard crusty dirt ! OMG that was funny as hell !!! LOVE THAT !!! PERFECXT ANALOGY !!!
their song "Immune" was a favorite of mine from about age 12 to 19 while i went thru a "hate my drug addict mom" phase
I may not be a fan of frontman Sully Erna as a person... but he has talent, despite taking significant elements from Alice In Chains. Erna did admirable from being the drummer of Meliah Rage to forming Godsmack in 1996, getting signed in '98 and becoming a success in 1999 til today 🤘🔥
Meliah Rage...a very underrated band. Too bad they weren't more prominent on the metal scene.
One of my favorite bands! They are unbelievable live, one of the best concerts I've been to.
This album reminds me so much of being a child and first getting this on disc. This will always be my favorite album by them, and that solo is so smooth.
The song Serenity by Godsmack is based on the real life tragedies of rock's best drummer Neil Peart of Rush.
I still play this album on CD regularly. I have the album that openes the song "Bad Religion" with a snippet of a Kenneth Copeland sermon.
Yeah I still have CD and most still play flawlessly.
I can't stop watching you two. I wish you two long and happy lives...Rock on Lex
Omg, I am so excited you are doing Godsmack 😍 They are amazing in concert!! Please react to Whatever and Crying Like A Bitch!! The video to Crying like a bitch is next level with a lot of MMA shots!!❤
I like that you two are taking these music reviews seriously. Good stuff 👍
I used to play this song on repeat so much. Great song & reaction
Godsmack - 'Greed' ... 'Whatever' ... 'Voodoo' ... 'Awake' ... 'Something different' ... 'Straight out of line'... ⚡🔥🤘
LOVE that you guys are reacting to one of my favorite rock bands GODSMACK! Awesome song! Awesome video
been listening to Godsmack since WAAF 107.3 Boston (RIP WAAF 1970 - 2020) started playing them. WAAF was the first radio station to play Godsmack (it was only a demo song). after WAAF started to play them Godsmack then signed their first record deal....saw them for the first time in 99 at Woodstock and have seen them many many times since then.....AMAZING live show, Sully is an outstanding front man.....this song and Whatever are what got them signed
I like that you're doing Godsmack songs. I will say these are the most mainstream songs that people hear the most.
I would say Godsmack's best songs are a toss up of Love,Hate,Sex,Pain ,, Unforgettable (for maturity) , Greed, and Serenity. IMO
Lol... the riff is a segment of the rhythm... Brad, my man, you're getting it!!
Godsmack is so good! Whatever is one of my favorites!
Ok Godsmack concert story. Very old theater. Everyone was on their feet rocking, except 1 guy front row first balcony. In between songs Sully says "what will it take to make you stand? What about a f***in' beer?" He proceeds to grab a red solo cup of beer, throws it, it does a flip in the air, most of the beer stays in, then the guy stands up and grabs it from the air! The place erupted!!!!!
Also need to listen to "awake "and "crying like a bitch "and "i stand alone"definite must listen to those songs
Yes sir, yes sir they do! 🙌🏼
The first album is real good.
Sully the lead singer lives in my area. he’s always giving back to the community. He supplied the schools with instruments he have a local business the money to open a restaurant.
You need to watch. And evening with Godsmack. It's a live and unplugged concert. Excellent
Underrated band glad you are checking them out
You two keep it rock'in
For those who may not know or remember. Shannon the drummer, did not play the drums for the first and I think also the second album. Sully actually did, because the producer didn't think Shannon had the godsmack sound he was looking for down just yet. For him to keep working on it. And I hope y'all react to godsmack's - serenity. Because not only is it a great song, but it also stopped me from taking my own life.
Now you gotta check out 'Whatever' by them! It's SOO good, such a classic , it's heavy! You'll defo like it :)
Godsmack live is a different experience.
fav song
I've seen them 4 times. Great shows each time. I even named my youngest son after Sully,
I love your descriptions of sounds Lex!
I loved how as soon as that first chord hit lex was hooked. You could see it in her eyes.
One of my favorite bands
I'll never forget seeing them at woodstock 99 they it was at a decommissioned air base for the B-52G Stratofortress we watched standing back at the first the first set of speakers in the center. The tarmac where the planes were parked was concrete, I heard It was 6ft thick, was trembeling an vibrating from all the people jumping everybody packed so close you pretty much had to jump with everyone it was an amazingly intense and insane experience.
Woodstock 99 was in my hometown I was there all 3 days
Wassup yall great reaction
They have so many great songs 😊
You two should really check out Exodus and Machine Head. I think Lex will enjoy the longer songs with a lot of solo guitar work in them such as, Exodus - "Funeral Hymn", "Deathamphetamine", "The Atrocity Exhibition"
Machine Head - "Davidian", "Unto the Locust", "Darkness Within", "Aesthetics of Hate", "Ten Ton Hammer"
In love with those drums, bro. Going to see them in Daytona!
One of my favorite bands, especially because Sully is Wiccan
Love you guys. Brad is coming along!
Awesome song,
Keep on the godsmack keep away next 👊🤘🔥🔥
I love yalls videos! The wife and I watch them together! It would be great if you could do RHCP- Magic Johnson. Thanks!! Keep em coming💯
Love that whole album!
Saw them live with Shinedown!!! wow what a night!!!!!!! you have to check out Voodoo, i stand alone, awake and album after album!!!!
I love rock music late 60s to the mid to late 90s.
Godsmack is my favorite heavy metal band
Best reactors on UA-cam!! Really enjoy your videos. Check out some Great White-Rock Me, I think it's Lex's vibe. Peace ✌ ☮
Great song.
Was my first concert in 2015. It was awesome af 💯💪🏽💪🏽
You REALLY need to do Bad Religion by Godsmack. That is a kick ass song!!!
The lead singer Sully Erna Plays drums too.
In concert the drummer Shannon Larkin and Sully get in a drum battle.
You got to do a reaction to it.
If you do,
listen for the beats to Rush's YYZ and Tom Sawyer , Walk this Way and Led Zep's Moby Dick.
I guarantee You Both will LOVE IT!
Shannon was Sully’s drum teacher.
The Oracle is an instrumental track from Godsmack and it’s awesome. Faceless is my favorite album of theirs.
It might sound grungy because Godsmack got a lot of influence from bands like AiC. Their name is actually an Alice in Chains song lol
Love that way you use your words L. 👍🏼😂😍
This whole album is 💯
Down tuned, super heavy chorus effect, this song is very fun to play.
I Stand Alone is a banger, it's from the Rock's movie The Scorpion King
This is a work related tune for sure 👌
Gotta start checking out the band Down now. I and II.. Killer albums
Their self-titled album is pure gold. After that... nothing quite compares to me. But man, that first album is enough to keep me as a fan for life.
I used to listen to godsmack to pump me up before track meets 😂
You guys are on the right track with the grunge elements of Godsmack. The band started out as a tribute band to Alice In Chains who were categorized as a grunge band. In fact the band name comes from an AIC song called God Smack. However, Godsmack in my opinion would be categorized as Alternative Metal
I’m so glad you liked this. I know you don’t like reacting to instrumentals (though you did react to Eruption by Eddie Van Halen and I think Tina S. covering Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata) so please react to the Godsmack, Drum Battle. It is really amazing….their precision is on point, and I know you’ll love it.
You should check out Ratrace by Skindred they're reggae metal, you'll love it!
They did 4 months ago or so
@@tripletiger289 right you are, I must have missed it
02:22 best description of how godsmack sounds xD
The guitar riff is basically the same riff as the bass riff of Hey Man, Nice Shot.
Really like Godsmack. Very good sound
More Godsmack please!
Dude I love your girl she’s so explanatory makes me smile so much!Awesome chick
Godsmack’s new album CLR
Calcium,Lime and Rust! 🤘🏻🤘🏻Lol
😍😍rockstar godsmack
I was waiting for you to react to Godsmack... try voodoo next 🤘🏻
Re-align are my favorite song by them
Godsmack always coming with the tough riff!
I beg you to react to "Tempest " by Tool talk about a great guitar solo..Lex you will be blown away!!
You two are the perfect couple.
Great Reaction! This song has a video to it but it's good you had the lyrics too. Have you guys reacted to the "Godsmack Drum Battle live?" if not you should (Godsmack's lead singer is a drummer and their drummer is awesome and they did a classic drum off)
This song got me through some of my hardest times
Dirty pipes, gotta luv her! Lol
Their best song . IMO
Vodoo is also badass
This is a huge inspiration, and not my fav song, but I’ve made fun of as a guitarist. As nu-metal. It’s great, but has influence. With how I play. I don’t know how to describe it, but it’s influential.
Definitely check out the band SEVENDUST, they were around the same time as Godsmack
