I have a question . I have been buying and returning shirts T-shirts all this summer. I like a longer T-shirts that will cover up my belly. What other companies would you suggest to find a longer T-shirt?
Cathy I would recommend a new hairstyle, the one you have has no shape and isn't flattering to your face. I would recommend a chin length bob with layers which would flatter your face. This is just my opinion and not a criticism. If you are happy with what you have, God bless you.

you are so right about buying more expensive clothing....my wardrobe is all from Talbots, bought on flash sales or reg sales...I did look at what bras you recommend and I am so satisfy with the Wacoal bras I ordered last week, I ordered 2 more this a.m. while the anniversary sale is on...I would have to think three times @ spending $72 on a bra! your tips are very helpful...keep up the good work!!
What a great video! Thank you Cathy. Great advice & recommendations. I can see how hard you worked on this. And of course, always so nice to see you. 😊
I'd also recommend LL Bean for inclusive sizing and very high quality pima cotton tshirts - that don't pill, fade, stretch or have hems that fall down after a few washes. I bought a bunch 18 months ago that still look great enough to wear to work. So many other tshirts I've bought elsewhere I've had to demote to housecleaning only after way less than 18 months of weekly wear.
Excellent video, Cathy, your tips and information is always spot on. Yes, spend a bit more on quality and save money in the long run! You can never talk about proper fitting bras too much! I recently lost a few pounds and three sizes - my first new purchase before smaller clothes was new bras that fit my current shape! It makes a huge difference!
Hi Cathy, You and I have the same taste in clothes. I appreciate your tips and like hearing about what you buy and where you buy them. Kindness, Teresa
Thanks for mentioning those Old Navy WOW Jeans, I hoped onto their site to find them 50% off today! Now I'm all set (got replacements for my raggedy jeggings)
I have a high arch, tiny feet, very wide feet- Vionic platform sandals are THE most comfortable and supportive shoes. I have multiple foot problems (neuroma, plantar fasciitis) and I can be on my feet four hours with no pain. For purses, I love Multisac. They have so many little compartments, it keeps your stuff organized. Great for travel!
I have been wearing a version of this combo for years and it always looks polished somehow. It is time to upgrade to a silhouette that suits my current shape better.
Totally agree about handbags. Macy’s has sales on line of good brands. I got a really good bag for 60% off 4 years ago and it still looks new. Hope you are enjoying the cruise.
This was a really interesting video! Have you ever tried Fossil purses? They often have sales and clearance sales on their pieces and they just get better with wear. Even the snow and rain here in the Maritimes hasn't damaged mine at all.
Ha! Yes to Fossil - and I highly recommend checking the Fossil store out on Boxing Day when they take 50% off their sale bags. I got a fabulous bag that had been marked down 50% and was half of that again on Dec 26. My favourite purchase of last year.
Hi Cathy, thank you so very much for putting this video together. It's all perfect information for me to consider whenever I go shopping. I've written it all down and keep the invaluable into in my purse so that whenever I have the urge to get myself something I now have the confidence in knowing my choices will be "a good fit" for me. I'm 5'2" and 66 years young and like you I'm a Canadian gal, and have 50 pounds to somehow shed, I never give up, but also believe it's important to look and feel our best everyday, regardless of whatever challenges our life presents us with. I love how REAL AND RELATEABLE all your videos are.😘
Cathy - just wanted to tell you, my Spanx order came in. You are right - those pants are INCREDIBLE!!!! I hope they offer more colours (navy for sure!!!!). I ordered the matching crew neck sweatshirt - also in a 3X, and I think I should have went down in size with it. But that's ok. The material is fabulous!!!! Thank you so much for recommending these :)
Hi Jackie, I'm so happy to hear that you are happy with your Spanx purchases!! I also ordered the half zip sweatshirt in navy, I sized down to a 2X and it's perfect. I'm hoping that I can get some navy tapered pants when they come back in stock. I also ordered a pair of dress pants that I snagged at 40% off yesterday! Looking forward to getting them to see what they look like. Thanks for letting me know!
I haven bought Coach in years, but they used to have a policy that you could send your Coach bag back & they would refurbish it. Dont know if they still do that! Thank you for this vlog,Kathy!
This was one of my fav of your videos! I’ve wanted to shop more like this, I’ve only recently been able to buy more quality items. Thanks for all that hard work! I’m making a wish list NOW lol PS I love that pink on you!
Good video, with helpful suggestions. My weight is also all in my stomach, and I find the athletic type pants to be such a help. My own favorites are the JJill Wearever pull ons - they are not as good at holding in as the Spanx, but in the summer they are lightweight and so comfortable, and look good! I have just figured out that t-shirts are not the best look for me (slow learner!), so try to wear blouses or shirts instead - they don't cling to the lumps and bumps as much. Totally agree with a good bra/underwear being essential.
I'm a Coach girl, too. I don't like thick straps and they have the thinner straps. When I was working, I had a variety but now that I am retired, I usually just use one of the crossbody purses. But, I've only paid full price for one. The rest I got on sale. I know a lot of women over 40 I see on UA-cam are Nordstrom girls, Talbot girls, whatever. I'm a Dillard's girl. I've gotten so many quality clothes and accessories for serious sale prices. Another good site for designer clothing and accessories is Saks Off Fifth. A lot of good Kendra Scott deals. Ralph Lauren is another brand you might want to consider. They have plus sizes but not plus petites. They do have mostly button ups but I've seen a couple of pop over shirts. Fossil is another good brand for purses. Good quality but not as pricey as Coach. If you like straw purses for summer, The Sak is good quality-just wait for a sale.
Because I cannot afford those stores that you put the links, but I really like the styles, I go and look for the same in cheaper places. Salutes from Graciela in Tampa, Florida.
I like your videos even though I have a different petite body type - closer to pear shape. I avoid T-shirts as they are just not my style. I stick to wrinkle resistant oxford type shirts which you don’t have to iron. I wear them fastened at the wrist for work as I work in a professional office environment but with the sleeves rolled up on the weekends. My favourite was Brooks Brothers when they carried Petites . I’m still looking for an alternative. Fortunately Brooks Brothers shirts were such good quality that I am still wearing my pre-pandemic Petite shirts.
I ordered Vionics sandals from a home shopping channel. They were so cute, but after 15 minutes, I had to take them off. I have high arches snd I need some support, but they hit me in the wrong spots. Try before you buy.
I've had a Bass purse forever and used to baby it with saddle soap. I need to give it some love, though since the zipper broke and it needs a good soaping. Sadly Bass doesn't seem to make purses anymore.
Thank you, Cathy, for this video. It is SO nice to be able watch and relate to clothing videos!!! I think we must be body twins :). I just ordered the Spanx pants, as I have the air essentials crew neck sweatshirt on the way and didn't realize the pants would match. And I am also shopping for an Alaska cruise!! lol :)
@@StyleWithCathy would love to see it on you! What colour did you go for? These look short in the photos, but on me (5'4") it may go low enough to hide the worst of my belly :)
@@jackiereid1310 Yes, I am a bit concerned about how short it is, but like you said, at 5'4" it may just be perfect. I ordered the navy, I'm hoping that the navy pants come back in stock, I'd like to get a pair. I'll be sure to post a pic on Instagram soon.
That pink top looks great on you, Cathy! Isn't that the truth about shoes? I will not waste my money like I used to on "cute but killer" shoes. Nothing is more miserable than trekking around all day in uncomfortable shoes and dealing with the side effects (blisters, cuts, etc.) for days afterwards. And a good bag is worth the investment. I found out a few years ago that you can take Coach bags to any of their retail stores and they will repair it for you (of course, at a cost). That's great to know if what needs repairing is specific to Coach, like their linings or hardware. These are definitely pieces that can be passed down as many of their bags are a classic shape.
I bought a coach purse on thredup 8 years ago for $60 and ive carried it every day. since. i Just recently bought a new coach purse for $45.They always have a good selection of designer purses at reasonable prices
The weather was great, but I had a migraine for half of the trip so I wasn't feeling so good. Tracy Arm Fjord was my favorite stop. The ship let us off at the mouth of the fjord where we met a catamaran. The ship then continued on to Juneau where we met it later in the day.
A quick question...what size spanx air essentials pants did you wear in the video? I'm about the same shape as you, very short inseam and that apple belly...I would appreciate the guidance for my splurge.
As for sunglasses; I have a pair of special sunglasses, that I can wear on top of any glasses. Very practical - and you don’t have to invest in new ones, when your perscription changes.
If you sew, try one of the bra patterns out there. I think Cashmerette has one now, she designs for large busts and their pattern instructions are clear and easy to follow and they have tutoirials. And there are a lot of bra making videos. You can also be fitted like at Bloomies or Nordies if they're still doing that during covid. Or have a tailor experienced in bra making make one custom for you.
Your cup size is supposed to conform to the shape of your breasts,, that is what some bramakers say. 🤷♂️ I'm like a 34B and havd made the Orange bra and the Kwik Sew bra and both turned out fine, but I'd rather make actual garments not lingerie.
We are lot alike but I’m good bit older plus I’m living with my daughter because of social security isn’t enough. Anyway, I love to find good clothes and purses in thrift stores. I hate cotton button up shirts because I hate tucking them in because I feel like I’m in a straitjacket 😂. I have always told my 3 daughters that buying good basic pieces are the best especially in furniture. Go slow, save up for the pieces, quality cloth, classic designs. My problems is bras, can not wear underwires because there isn’t enough room. Had bra specialist back me up. Plus the size,😂. My oldest has to order hers from England.
I noticed several negative comments on Talbots tees. These were made by people who has bought them very recently. I wonder if Talbots have changed their fabric as many comments mention quality and issues with washing.
I have been buying Talbots clothes for a year now, so I can't comment on what the quality was like years ago. However, I have no problem with the quality. Their clothes are very well made. I always hang my tops to dry, but the pants go in the dryer.
The Pima cotton tees at the full price stores hold up great. The outlet stores are not Pima cotton, so they are definitely different. You get what you pay for. Wait for their sales, then stock up.
My only thing with paying lots is with loosing weight I’m more reluctant. And finding the right size is like a Willy wonky gold ticket even in the same brand. So here in the uk we have primark yes cheap and cheerful and you have to be careful what you get. I’ve not fitted into there clothes before so it was quite a novel experience the first time. So Ive bought a load of £2-£4 t shirts some £10 joggers and pjs which for a set like you showed£12 so comfy. I was expecting badly fitted badly washing out of shape in a wear and I’m so pleased they have been fine. Yes there younger aimed clothes does not pass my feel test and the jets are built for the jolly green giant. Crz yoga active wear is my go to or Amazon tech. Our marks and Spenser has shape wear that sorts me. But when I get down to my ideal I want to shop more sustainably but at the moment it’s just not financially sound. Roll on getting spanks

I prefer Stone Mountain Handbags, all leather, better price, and I have carried one for over 20 years. I just ordered a new one exactly the same!

I love Lands End Starfish pants. I wash them inside out in cold water then line dry.
Great tips Cathy, again that pink looks so nice on you, such a happy colour!

I love the “Lululemon” vibe, Cathy! It looks like Spanx has the perfect Lululemon Define Jacket dupe and it’s amazing on you. Very yoga teacher! 🧘🏻♀️
Thanks Tina! I didn't realize that the Spanx jacket was similar to a Lululemon jacket, good to know. 😊

And I am also shopping for an Alaska cruise!! lol :)
I just ordered the quarter zip sweatshirt from Spanx! LOL Enjoy your clothes and cruise! xo
Hi Kathy. How was your Alaska trip and what was your favorite stop ?
The weather was great, but I had a migraine for half of the trip so I wasn't feeling so good. Tracy Arm Fjord was my favorite stop. The ship let us off at the mouth of the fjord where we met a catamaran. The ship then continued on to Juneau where we met it later in the day.
I enjoy your videos. And I find if you take care of your clothes they will last longer.
A quick question...what size spanx air essentials pants did you wear in the video? I'm about the same shape as you, very short inseam and that apple belly...I would appreciate the guidance for my splurge.
I’m wearing a 3X in both the pants and jacket. 😊
Thank you so much. I appreciate you getting back to me!
I purchased five pocket jeans from Macy's and they look beautiful. Everyone's body is different.
Great advice as always. Thanks, Cathy. Some of the links aren't working for me.
Can you tell me which links aren't working? I was having difficulty creating them this morning.
@@StyleWithCathy All the links under Athletic Pants and Athletic Pants splurge look.
Thank you! I have uploaded new links, hopefully they are working now.
As for sunglasses; I have a pair of special sunglasses, that I can wear on top of any glasses. Very practical - and you don’t have to invest in new ones, when your perscription changes.
Pink is UR color, Cathy
I can never find the right cup size I’m a 46 to 48B can’t find a b cup I know, hand sew And take it in all around the wiring so it fits
And I can definitely not find a padded bra that fits
I just chuckled like an immature child when you said “do do”, while talking about underwear. 😂
😊
Life is too short to wear cheap shoes.
Knix underwear and bras use real people for advertising
Those are walking shoes???Your poor feet! Those shoes are not for good support for walking...maybe for a wedding or funeral.
They have a great footbed in both the runners and sandals.
