    I don't know what's up with everyone saying the guy in green is a bad interviewer. I find him funny, his questions may be dumb but the purpose is to make Dan Bailey talk and let us learn more about him. I found that a great interview and really pumped to see Josh Bridges vs Dan Bailey vs Kenneth Leverich :D

      Yeah man. If you wanna see more from the interviewer shaking up things during actual Crossfit events, check out all the "Behind The Scenes" vids from the last few years. Sevan does 'em, and they're a good time.

    This is one of the best interviews I've seen in CrossFit. Like him or not, Sevan (and Dave) asked some pretty tough questions that, in many ways, needed to be answered. Huge props to Dan for putting himself out there and answering everything so honestly.

    If people actually saw and were exposed to more of Sevan's work you'd actually grow to like the guy... I used to think he was a bit of a prick, but watching his interviews and the behind the scenes footage of the Games I genuinely think this guy is hilarious haha...

      +unsensibled Durainrider accuses everybody of taking steroids. He accuses Michael Jordan of steroids (he may not be wrong, but that's a first for me.) There are absolutely drugs being used in Crossfit, for me the question is, which ones? Test is an obvious choice, and maybe some blood doping, but I'm really not sure what else they would benefit from.

    Besides the health risks associated with performance enhancing drugs, I sometimes think the judgement on what's legal and what isn't, is arbitrary. There are so many forms of supplementation -- aren't they all created so you can maximize your own capabilities? So when is an athlete's success ever solely because of the athlete if he/she uses supplementation? Hypothetically-speaking, what makes a "Creatine-Glutamine-Test Booster-Preworkout-ZMA-Recovery-Aminoplex 5000" stack legal, and something like DHEA illegal? When can you really say any athlete who uses supplementation is performing that way if there are things that they ingest that help them perform better? I don't have a final POV on this, but the line is a bit arbitrary. Just saying.

    • @Uouttooo
      @Uouttooo 8 років тому

      +Beastly Theater Well if you can get the same from actual food but is cheaper from supplements. Does it still count as using chemical? Yeah I know it has been a year.

    A few years ago while I was in college at Akron, I would always see him training at the rec center on campus (didn't know him at the time) and he was still pretty jacked then before he was known for CrossFit. And that was years ago. I always remember he wore Chucks and had huge calves.

    He eats perfectly, does not drink alcohol, and is constantly working on his physique. His job is to try to be the fittest man on earth! He flat out said come test me and it shows he is confident. Why take away what this man is working so hard to achieve. I swear man narrow minded people automatically resort to steroids when they see someone who is in better shape then they are. It fucking disgusts me.

    • @adamrobertson1101
      @adamrobertson1101 9 років тому +5

      I totally agree with you. It feels like if someone is good at something then people accuse them of cheating because they know they cannot achieve it themselves. If there is a video where someone has put on a couple lbs of muscle, people start pointing fingers. I got accused of taking steroids, I was secretly chuffed though ha ha

    Dan's my favorite, I think. And Sevan's interview, however chaotic, served to bring out the character of the interviewee. And I'm very interested in the steroids question because I agree with Dan, not ready to accuse people, just ready to raise the bar for testing because the games become something about performance-enhancement plus work rather than talent plus work. And it's cool to see the regions mixing it up a little. I imagine Josh Bridges and Dan pushing each other further than either have gone before and that's very interesting to me. That said, I'd be happy if Rich won again or if Jason smash everybody. At any rate, thanks for the interview. Good motivation material and a terrific character to shape the world of CrossFit.

    I don't know if Dan Bailey is juicing, but just look at how much his physique has changed over the past couple years. Natural athletes who've been training for years don't just all of a sudden gain huge amounts of muscle.... unless they get on the sauce

      ***** He stroked his beard before beginning his initial answer and then scratched/rubbed his shoulder (which athletes do) before making a point that even an actual steroid user would agree with. Nervous body language occurs when the point you're making is an actual falsehood -- anyone would've considered his points valid/true. And damn man, not everyone talented is a cheat. Chill out.

    • @emilio6425
      @emilio6425 10 років тому +3

      I don't believe he is juicing although I do not know sure. When he started training he was working out in his garage, and now he is one of the top athletes in the sport and because of that he works out in the best facilities with the best faculty and best nutrition. People don't realize how much precise nutrition helps athletes. Plus they workout so multiple times a day so don't discredit these athletes hard work. If you do not have REAL proof don't claim to.

  • @shogrran

    You heard him. He's willing to do testing upon your request. Those who want to prove themselves correct.... go for it. Save up 2k USD + whatever cost needed to test him on whatever drug you think he's taking. Who knows maybe he's going to agree to you if you want to follow him 24/7 for a season just to find out if he is taking shit. You just have to donate money to charity. As far as I know he's very religious which I think is part of the reason he wants something donated to charity if you lose testing. Otherwise. Shut up.

    • @shogrran
      @shogrran 8 років тому

      ben-t You missed the part that this isn't gambling for him. This is him saying for sure that you'll be donating your 2 grand to charity. Maybe you missed the part where he's actually not pocketing the money but he's donating it. Why would he bother with a donation of 20 bucks to charity? Anyone can pull that out of his pocket anytime. Plus you're missing the point, if you're so sure he's doping and will fail whatever test you put him through, you're not really gambling your 2 grand. You already HAVE 2 grand. But most of you are really just shit heads bitter about someone else's performance. Instead of blabbering your theories up here, why don't you save up 2 grand,get him tested, and end up with 4 grand. Move along now if you're a poor hater who cant bet money for something you believe is the truth. Shut up or shell out.

    • @NT-fb6ow
      @NT-fb6ow 8 років тому

      shogrran What a stupid answer, of course he is making you gamble 2 grand, he is saying that you can test me, but you will have to lose 2 grand if i pass. Why would the be mandatory part of him being drug tested? If he was clean he would be willing to do it for no cost to the other person. Such an unconvincing way to prove your "innocence". The test itself is expensive enough for the person, the 2 grand means that it is in no ones interest to actually test this guy.

      @XxMJoyxX 10 років тому

      In some cultures, Asian ones for example, it's disrespectful to look people who are of a higher status than you in the eye... You need to look down. I've learned to look people in the eye, but not everyone does.

    • @XxMJoyxX
      @XxMJoyxX 10 років тому

      ***** I understand that it seems disrespectful. I was responding to the original comment, "I think I just don't like _people_ who have a hard time making eye contact with someone. Seems disrespectful" My point was that _some people_ who have a hard time making eye contact with someone aren't being disrespectful. They were raised to believe it's disrespectful to look people in the eye. I was speaking generally, since the person was speaking generally.
      As for Sevan, there are a lot of stimuli in the room. In fact, Dave Castro is located across from them. Isn't it possible that Sevan isn't so much failing to make eye contact with Dan so much as he is reacting to Dave trying to get his attention? Also, Dan and Sevan are friends. They have been friends for a while. In the video of Dan visiting CrossFit HQ, you can see the Dan and Sevan are buddies.

    Dan you probably won't see this comment because you're doing you which is cf . But to Dan's fans I'll tell you a little about my story and my thoughts. I did cf for 4 years was five places from going to regionals. I had an episode when I didn't make it because I never cheated and did Paleo and worked out religiously. I would watch you and Rich videos at night and even wanted to open CrossFit rain 🔥😂. My coach was 2 sports from going to the games! We connected in alot of ways and I was his apprentice probably his favorite . A year later he got a sanction for drugs. I didn't judge him cuz he taught me all the tricks and he was pretty legit . I ended up quitting for various reasons. My caoch spent his life doing this and still fell short even when using gear. I studied ever movement did the block eating learned how to recover and couldn't figure out how someone else was better. If I came in second in a wod I'd be depressed and was soooo hungry to get better. Id make sure I would get stronger by doing the strength program and focused on always improving. My only conclusion to this was some of these regionals and games athletes are definitely cheating by either lying about the reps aka coaches recording false numbers using gear or possibly fake weights. Competition is for the youth and isnt the same when you mature and get older. My goal was to make it to regionals for the longest time. One year I could've went as a team but I think I ended up fucking up on the last wod or something. Now my goals have drastically changed. I want to be able to deadlift a ton of weight . After years of reps and doing way too much cardio my Passion totally changed over time. All I think about is deadlifting now and occasionally Atlas stone lifting . My competition is the mirror slash myself for you literal snowflakes . Cf was kinda a fad that just got boring and the other strength sports were looking cooler I guess.

    Sanction it and test it. Period. They, the athletes, can say no about using but as long as samples are taken periodically we can monitor progression of underground labs like the "Clear" which Marion Jones used. Those who pass and stay clean are true champions but just by viewing the stamina and musculature of these athletes there are a lot of concerns and questions.

      it's not weakness. it's logic. why don't you as a natty workout like them and see what happens to your body? work out 3x a day 6 days a week without the help of a recovery aid, aka steroids, and at the end of 6 months report back if you can even make it to that point.

    taking performance enhancements is cheating. Here is why that stuff doesn't just make you a world class athlete just because. An individual still has to train hard and work hard to get stronger. My advice would be to get educated on this stuff before you say it's cheating.

    Fire this guy, he's so mean. First seconds of the video and already embarrassing the woman, and above all I know he was asking kind of dumb questions, but at least try to add some humor or good attitude when asking.

      Keegan Gaddy haha funny these guys are wannabe strongmen and except for very few look terrible aren't strong and just end up getting injured from the terrible form and rushed sets... why would you do olympic lifting as fast as you can and high reps thats just a recipe for hurting yourself... and don't even get me started on kipping..

    • @colinhicks6607
      @colinhicks6607 10 років тому

      Keegan Gaddy You're right and I agree with everything you said there is risk in every sport and especially if you're starting off you need to have people who are knowledgeable to help you and you need to take it slowly to be able to practice the sport safely however, I have many more issues with cross fit such as the original comment mentioned above, they think they're better than everyone else "fittest person on earth" what does that even mean? whats the definition to fittest? things like this are just slogans that the company makes once they became popular and commercialized that get people hooked but don't actually have any meaning. Functional movement? Olympic weightlifting requires an extreme amount of focus and athleticism and you get noobs going in there loading the bar and doing it as fast as they can to beat a certain time. why would i want to exercise faster if I could achieve more benefits by taking my time and concentrating more (and prevent injury, :( poor kevin ogar ) it also means there is much less of an emphasis placed on form which i don't like and I can support that from some of the shitty lifts made in this video. Functional movement? I don't recall ever having to walk on my hands from point A. to point B. so that doesn't even make sense (this is just one of many examples in cross fit where this is true).You want functional movement try something like yoga which will increase longevity in ones life by giving the benefits of exercise but with lower risk on joints and tissues and the whole notion of supporting paleo dieting, I have read countless medical journals that all point towards saying there is nothing wrong with gluten unless you have celiacs disease, and whats the point of low carbs? carbohydrates are the primary energy source for your body and you just end up having no energy, lots of cross fitters just go keto and take caffein in order to be able to have even a half decent workout from no energy, the whole thing just seems so gimmicky and I might not mind it as much if it weren't so expensive but it seems like they just draw you into this whole world of "cross fitters" almost cult like and then bam you end up spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars on training and coaching from some fat bald guy who took a weekend course to become a "coach", has no idea what he's doing then... you end severing your L5 vertebrae it just feels more like a business than anything else a way to make profits and less about the individuals themselves.. that being said I respect the community these people are very dedicated to what they do give it %100 (which sometimes makes them get carried away hurt themselves) and the community is very supportive of one another and it almost becomes like a family it seems so in that sense its great just not the other things listed above.

      Keegan Gaddy Even for me, If i hadn't started in another sport (olympic weightlifting) and discovered cross fit first, I probably would have joined especially because i went from long distance running to weightlifting and it was really hard for me to leave running I was trying to do both but eventually I had to make a choice because I realized that in order to excel in one i couldn't do both but with cross fit you do combine both but that means all you'll ever achieve is ok both rather than good in one, which is fine if thats what you want to its also appealing in other ways the excitement the energy and I don't even know what it is but a lot of it just looks pleasing to the eye when you watch it and some of the stuff they do looks even fun to do, but overall I will never join it because of the gimmicky part and the fact that they're just looking for profit, a lot of weightlifters join cross fit because they realize theres no money in weightlifting and in order to make ends meat they join it but that won't be me, Ill never sell out

      There is a level of confidence that comes with achieving goals. That is part of life. The derogatory nature of your comment suggest you should set and meet your own goals and someone else's life view will not be a problem for you.

      What goals has he achieved exactly? Juiced himself up and won? Couldn't go back to school after college and learn an occupation? An honest one? I laugh at these achievers. Achievers of nothing. I'm probably not much less fit than this guy (I don't use steroids so what do you expect? 190lbs. bench 310, 24 years in the gym. Day in day out. Sick or not.) and achieved more...... the honest way. NUFF SAID! Now back to studying for my second College Degree to be a Nurse!
