On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

noticing that you started holding down the trigger for longer periods, the viper made you pretty aggressive
Yep last kill was most brutal tearing the aircraft into pieces it felt more like a missile kill
That is something I noticed when he has dogfighting in the "real pilot" episode. The "real pilot" would hold down the trigger for much longer.
Might have something to do with the F16 gun funnel gunsight and a lack of tracers too?
Harder to "be sure" you caught him with the burst - better to just hose him till parts fall off.

This really Shows how much the pilot is important in a fight.
The Rafale is a superior aircraft in all parameters, yet in the end it comes down to the pilot and his or her capabilities and knowledge of both aircrafts.
Yeah Pilot matters, a less trained pilot will die in an F-16 after getting hit by a Mig-21 🤣🤣

Now I want to see you in the Rafale against the F16. I think the Rafale's pilot made some mistakes (I would have been way worse than him), but I'm convinced that the Rafale can perform better than this against the viper

Only thing that beats the Viper on the deck is a F22.
The Rafale is better than the F-16 in both sustained and instantaneous
Technology is more applicable in BVR ranges, that is where Rafale advantage is...up close and personal, it depends more on pilot skill.
Again on BVR, it all depends on who has the best radar tech, missile tech, comms tech etc...So J-10 vs Rafale is suspect as we really do not know what the latest J-10 model is like and China also has AWACS etc.
The real fight is to be decided in close combat, that is where pilot skill is truly measured and dogfights are unlikely in these modern times, it is all BVR and BVR deception tactics, Individual pilot skill becomes less here.

I think it says a lot that it still comes down to pilot skill between the f-16 and rifial, considering one is nearly 30 years older than the other.
They upgrade once in a while to meet the new standards , ain't using the same 30 yr old technology in that thing

Theres a reason the F-16 is the legendary dog fighter. F-16 only really loses against planes that utilized more advanced electronic warfare in BVR engagements (which the F-16 can also utilize with the newest blocks)

To be really honest.... Rafael is among best 4th Gen Aircraft. It's better than F16 but equal to F16V.
Rafael will have fair fight with J10C.

GS ... why doesn't the Viper use Tracers? It seems that every other aircraft uses them except the Viper. Not having tracers must make gun shots tougher.
Actually the no tracer thing is more accurate
When the enemy can see your tracers they jink. That's not what you want when you got them in your gun sight.

@@ApeRiderr This is not battle.... This is DCS. BVR wars are based on stealth parameters and missile parameters for at least 50% of the outcome..... These parameters are superior for the Rafale in DCS.

In dogfights, it's mostly the pilot's skills that determine the results and here the Rafale was clearly flown by a newbie who had no idea how to manage the flow of the encounter. Well done to you though for some great flying as always!
Those rafale engines sure do seem to lack some durability, but that could just be me getting influenced by your F14 videos lately xD
They are as durable as any other western engines. The F-14, MIG-29 and SU-27 are the only fighters with engines that are really widely separated. That makes a big difference when it comes to surviving engine damage.
Oh man, its always the small things you say that have massive implications. The nose slipping up cause the pilots looking back is something I would never have connected, that now is going to change how I approach dog fights and what i’m looking for while dogfighting

I am a newbie on DCS flying the Hornet and find the flying experience to be really enjoyable with pretty graphics.
However I have a lot of trouble keeping up with the bandits in BFM using guns (single human player only). I cannot even nearly turn with them and lose speed faster than them. I can maintain better speed turning with less AOA but then the bandits turn inside me and beat me up.
Is there some secret to saving energy and still have a decent chance manoeuvring with the bandits?

I find you have to start doing these fights at higher altitudes. Because to me, it seems like you are always doing the same tactic. Because you start lower you are already giving the other pilot less opportunity to kill you. Because you drag him to the deck as soon as possible to just outrate him. Basically, you start with an advantage. It is time to even the chances and start way higher for these one to one fights.
By doing what you propose is only gonna make longer videos. GS will still pull the opponent to the deck.
Yea it'll be the same thing, just take longer. GS is so good with the F-16, I'd rather see him go up against other F-16 pilots. Or possibly take the plane that he's least comfortable in. Like in this video he should be flying the Rafale, trying to find a way to beat the F-16.

I can't help it, but I think the F16 is overpowered in DCS especially compared to the European 4+ Gen fighters like the Rafale or the Typhoon. I would like to see how these aircraft compare if you flew them against the viper. I do not play DCS, my assumption is based on an interviews of a real RAF fighter pilot who flew both, the F16 and the Typhoon. He described the Typhoon as "a level above the F16" Check out "Aircrew Interview fighting in the Typhoon with Paul Godfrey" the 5:24 part.
I assure you the f16 is not overpowered in fact at higher altitudes it remains slightly underpowered, something ED continues to work on.
Well if the f16 isn't underpowered that would suggest that the mods are not behaving upto the performance of the real aircraft
I think the issue is not so much that the F16 is overpowered but that those mods don't have physics nearly as accurate to their real world counterpart as the F16, abd not giving them much justice

The latest was 2019 feb when PAF Mirage 5 JF17 and F16s took on Su30s MIG29s and MIG21
Result was: 1 MIG21 1 Mi17 and claimed 1 SU30MKI shot down due to a video circulating on internet of an aircraft down in indian side of border.
India claimed they shot down F16 but its just a bogus claim to save face there is no evidence for it.
So there you have it even in the latest scenario with missiles this time PAF still came out on top.
This engagement made india buy Mirage from France as they lost all confidence in their current line up.
Pakistan bought J10c to counter Mirage
Lets see how it goes in the next round
F-16 was designed in 70s for dogfight while Rafale is more for BVR deployment, which means the main role of both fighters is different from each other. But, still, it is good to see them in action.
Rafale has naval requirements such as high lift at slower speeds. Rafale is not the only fighter designed for one circle (minimum turn radius) fight i.e. Hornet.
French requirements differ from the EuroFighter.
Only Pakistani J-10C can challenge the Indian Rafale.

Block 52+ don't even have AESA radar. You can compare Block 70/72 with Rafale F3r standard.
