It was a pretty bad year overall, there were a few great games but a lot of mediocre and downright bad games launched

Well FIFA 20 on console at least had a change by adding a new game mode, on the switch however, it's literally the same fucking thing as fifa 19, EA even said themselves that they didn't bother to change anything on it, you should watch the IGN review of it, the reviewer straight up bashes on the game
that's why i switched to PES2020, Fifa was a letdown since FIFA17 tbh, it feels like an arcade game now whereas PES is making a more realistic gameplay approach

Fallout 76 deserves to be on the 2019 list even though it came out in 2018. We got a whole year of Bethesda trying "fix" the game and add more content but for every step forward there were 10 steps back the game needs to die and they need to take all their resources and staff and have the work on Star field and ES 6, Bethesda games used to be a guaranteed purchase for me,no reviews needed but not anymore and that makes me a little sad.

I used to play contra with my aunt many years ago, it was really a bummer, i personally waited something different with the same nostalgic gameplay but with more 2019 feel to it.

I didn't buy Contra Rogue Corps, but I remember downloading the demo in a heap of glee and excitement. I couldn't wait to play a NEW Contra game. Then after I finished the demo, I deleted it, sighed, and said to myself, "At least we got Blazing Chrome!"

I really love how they tell you why they don't like it, not just "oh yeah its bad, cause its bad". They see the good in the game but they know its no good, and I for one love that. i normally dont like to go back and redo a comment but i had to on number 2... yeah it never seen the oven son, it never even seen the cookie sheet it was going to be put on. the damn thing never even knew what fire is! let alone heat!

I think its hilarious how people actually had any good expectations for anthem to begin with, with EA's history before that and Biowares massive drop in quality, to me it was extremely obvious the game was going to be a failure. Obviously I still hoped it'd be great, but I wasn't dumb enough to pre order a game like that. After what EA did to battlefront, Battlefield, and just about every other game they made in the past 4-5 years, they've all been a complete joke and riddled with micro transactions. How is it even possible that people didn't see it coming with Anthem?

Fallout 76 was a MASSIVE let down to Fallout fans AND MMO fans.
The problem with Anthem was that it was still unfinished even though it was delayed a load of times

Anthem is the perfect example of why devs shouldnt rush the game I know its not the devs fault the investors pushed them hence why most of the good bioware devs left the sinking ship theyre too good to be strangled by impossible deadlines for such an ambitious project that was anthem.I mean imagine if they delayed the game 1 more year it could have been so much better and live up to expectations

Anthem was so hyped by me and my friends, we were so excited saved money to buy the best package, we played less then an hour and hated it so much that we all uninstalled it the same week :/

@@waffleiron7740 Because a lot of big companies want to use multiplayer as a means of making money by turning multiplayer games into digital casinos and exploit multiplayer gamers by enticing them with corrupt and shady monetization schemes like loot boxes, overpriced microtransactions, paywalled content, season passes, multiple editions, and early access. All of that basically leads to games like Fallout 76, Anthem, Ghost Recon Breakpoint and a lot more multiplayer games to be half assed, unfinished broken messes that cost the exact same price as a full 60 dollar game.
Carmen Sandiego That’s nothing more than simple economics. If a cash cow is potentially available and consumers lap that up, it’ll inevitably be exploited. The simple solution is to not support those game studios offering those extra unnecessary additives you mentioned (which I completely agree with you about). I don’t purchase any in-game monetary items of any kind, and still sink hours into MP games and wouldn’t choose anything else. You can still enjoy MP game replay-ability and not feed boardroom agendas. As a note though single player games are a cash grab in their own legacy fashion, so you’ve spent “x” amount of time completing this single player silo’d game you’ve spent £50 on, then what? You purchase another SP game altogether. Rinse and repeat.

Thing is people are tired of the bullshit that a lot of multiplayer games have brought into the gaming industry. Also what you said about singleplayer can apply to multiplayer even more so. We’ve bred this culture by allowing it and paying for these services. Simple answer and the method to remove this in future? Don’t pre-order, don’t partake in micro-transactions, don’t feed the negatives. You can still enjoy MP games without these aspects, the same way I do. Again, this isn’t the fault of MP games. Agreed with your last point though, but that’s the reason I’ve not purchased a CoD game since Black Ops 1. They’re just re-skinned clones in my opinion.

I would have put Zoo Tycoon there too as a punishment. A punishment for not finishing the franchise mode, and a punishment for putting out a 15$ DLC one month day for day after the release, that only includes reskin of existing animals and buildings.
When I first got anthem, I had my hopes up, and the the trials of the legionaries came in and drop kicked the game off a cliff
