alot of the issues your seeing is from the electric coming from where the console is being used most likely its hertz drops or spikes if it's not stable it will cause these problems but won't effect everything but it's a slow killer on tvs and consoles it won't effect a toaster or oven or fridge it's possible but very rare but I have seen this problem in old apartments and old houses especially old rental homes also cheap surge protector can do this to . how do I know been in the electric feild for 26 years seen alot and wiring shortcuts are a big problem with landlords trying to save a buck .
@@hugomatos1999 yes there is a range let's say 60h anywhere between 54 to 64 is okay but 50 and lower or 65 and higher can start to burn up electronics even voltage spikes I've been in many homes where the voltage is ok but to many things tied into 1 breaker as the wires get hot the voltage gets lower and if the breaker is higher amps it won't trip so chances of something burning up or failing is higher and I have seen this many times where a breaker keeps tripping and someone puts a bigger breaker in . causes issues or house fire .
I have recently seen 245v coming from my sockets regularly. I assumed it was because I'm very close to a substation but I guess I'm wrong lol. I'm not an electrician so it was just guessing for me

I thought in the UK it's 230v 50 hertz ? maybe I'm wrong if not 245 seems high then . have you checked the hertz / frequency you want to see 50 hertz . but if your appliances are 230 v and I'm sure they are and your reading 245 to me that's not good but I'm going off what I know in the US then again the difference is 120 v and 240 v at 60 hertz .
@@TheCod3r Power supplies go for 3 reasons. Shorted/open diode on the bridge rectifier, wasted cap, or shorted/open transformer. As long as you discharge prior you'll be safe and I'm certain you can repair them.
Great vid I think this is the exact problem my ps5 has right now. It has no power at all, no beeping or lights, the controller works but the ps5 itself just doesn’t power on. I’m assuming because the power in my house kept going off while it was on , the fuse got fried .
Technical advice: No need to remove entire capacitor, just unsolder one side and move little bit left/right, and you know position of capacitor and place as well but no connection :)
Great repair. Wonder if these are usb circuits or where are these issues coming from. Obviously Sony has messed up here with cheap parts or bad design. Seems very fragile since people aren’t intentionally sticking forks into usb sockets etc
I think it’s just factory error sometimes, anyones claims the machines don’t make mistakes, takes a person too run that machine and make sure the equipment is working properly but you think sony would of learned by now, with how many time they have revisioned consoles

Where should I start with a short on the 12V? No heat thrown with thermal cam. I assume there's an inductor or something I should remove to tell if the short is on the power side or the CPU side?
To be honest every time I've had a 12v short it's been where 12v is dead short to the APU. Injecting voltage causes the APU to heat up like crazy. Unfortunately that's the only time I've come across it on the PS5 😮💨

Where is the best place to send a PS5 in to get repaired? Mine does something weird. When you plug the power cord in, it doesn’t do anything. Leave if plugged up for a couple minutes and it will the beep when you press the power button, the blue light comes on and flashes… but then shuts down without showing anything on the tv… any ideas? I tested voltage on the power supply and have 12 volts. Thanks for any help.

I havnt had my ps5 for 3 days unplugged it to move it to the wifi box to have a wired connection and It just never cut back on when using the remote it just blinks blue nothing worked
My PS5 won't turn on after falling off my TV Stand. It turns on 1 second and beeps a sound a light up blue then shuts off immediately. I tried unplugging it, change power cable, change hdmi and holding down power button and still nothing. Please help.😢

I worked on a product where we re-designed the cardboard insert for a the retail box that was a difference of around a penny per unit, but saved us well over a million in total. Scale is everything. So as annoying as it is for us end users, I understand why this is done. I'm sure we'd all be willing to pay a little bit more for long term reliability, but there's incredible pressure to stay under a specific price, and every fraction of a penny if a huge impact on your profits.

I have a ps5 with a short on the 560 caps in the center of the board. Any idea on what that could be? SB tests fine, all fuses are good, and I seem to get correct voltage across the board. This 1 has me stumped.
Where on the center mate? There's a few low impedance lines around there. Maybe check out the diode mode video I did yesterday as that explains low impedance, it should help a little :)

The blue, pink and purple are newer revision (same number on back tho) - Tronicsfix made a teardown and there are few changes on the board - the main chip is on the other side + the spring is now thicker.
Personally I'm not sure as I don't use the PS5 but the controllers my kids use seem fine, as well as my 2 test controllers I use for resting consoles with

They added more venders for parts (basically same parts just different manufacturers) and the most obvious design change is a cheeper heatsink that's all the PSU that seems to be a issue is the exact same in all versions
HDMI is working, controller is turning on. The console itself is not turning on. Already done plugging in wall socket, ive already wait for 1 to 5 minutes. I can't insert new CD bcoz it has already 1 inside the console. I just plug it just nkow to check my PS5,None seems working

I still have my Psone and PS2, been through the PS3 ylod or just dying, Xbox red ring, PS4 blue light of death, after the millions of consoles sold you would think they could make them a big more reliable, are we going back to the state where almost as your manufacturer warrantee runs out the thing dies, My Wii is still running strong, I had a pile of old machines that went to the recyclers

Where do you find the specs for test points? How do you know how many volts to measure across various components?
The push for profit from the console has a knock on effect to cheaper components so easier to fail.

it is a cheaper version ps5 they saved on the copper they use to move the heat from the apu and apparently they get a lot hotter while gaming.

HDMI is working, controller is turning on. The console itself is not turning on. Already done plugging in wall socket, ive already wait for 1 to 5 minutes. I can't insert new CD bcoz it has already 1 inside the console. I just plug it just nkow to check my PS5,None seems working
