If your PlayStation 5 console has one of the following issues, maybe, the power supply is defective:
- PS5 console loses power shortly after turn it on.

Your video was insanely precise! My Ps5 stopped turning ON after a lightening strike around the house. Saw a few comments saying this worked so I purchased a power supply and gave this a go. I couldn’t believe it when I was able to get it back and running without paying a hefty fee/time to Sony. You the man!

I got a PlayStation 5 but there's no power supply unit inside at all is there anything else I can hook it up to like an Xbox One x power supply or a projector power supply just to power it on to make sure it works before I order it proper power supply?

What's the bare minimum reassembly to check if the replacement power supply work? I only put a couple screws in to secure the mobi and plugged all the cables back in and im not getting any power. I don't really have any way of knowing if I got a bad replacement or my PS5 is just hopeless as far as I know. I don't want to fully reassemble the ps5 without knowing of ot will work. I plugged in everything including the fan and disc drive. I just didnt mount them back into place. I made sure twice that the mobo is plugged securely into the new psu, but im not getting any power at all

My ps5 has a different power supply it’s an adp-400FR. that DR and FR make a difference. Why is mine different. Is mine an earlier model?

I think PS5 has too many faulty consoles. Recently I'm seeing so many issues and repairs on it on a span of only 4 years after its official release in the market. I'm thankful I havent bought it immediately. I'm gonna stick with my PS4 pro until Sony has improved issues in it.

After replacement the motherboard Heatsink is leaking 13v current and ps stops are sometime
People really need to start using surge protectors. They're $10 at walmart. That $10 is protecting my almost $3,500 worth of stuff plugged into it. I got a 6 outlet one with my PS5, Xbox Series S, PC, TV, and laptop hooked up to it.
Don't get too comfortable with that $10 surge protector. Just replaced my power supply in my PS5 along with our internet router due to lightning, and yes they were both plugged into a "Walmart" surge protector.
If the PS5 shuts down when you start ANY PS5 game but you can play PS4 games no problem, is it the GPU or PSU?

I have purchased a PS5 on Japan.
The manual book states that it require 100v as input voltage but I have seen few video of PSU replacement and noticed that PSU is dual.voltage (220-240 & 100-120v)
Where I live we do have 220V
How do o know of I can still use it without burning it ?
I don't wanna dismantle all the way down just to check, as well I don't wan a buy neither a transformer nor a new PSU 240v

Idk if you're still looking for an answer, but you have to unclip the old wires and clip them onto the new power supply.

@@damedolla16i unfortunately found out the difference. When you attempt to put back the long screws, they do not screw in all the way.

I forgot to turn off my outlet, when i plugged my PS5 powercord into the back of the PS. This made a slight electrical noise/crackle, when i inserted the cord. Could it have harmed anything inside the PS5 or am i just overthinking? :)

@@123456rocketboyjerry Yeah found out all it would do is maybe slightly quicker wear on the contact prongs, but that's only if you make a habit of doing it 😅
I just thought maybe the electrical arcs could do some kind of damage to the internals, but the arcs are lower voltage and well the power cable can only pull so much from the wall 😁
What are those two wires on the top left?(right above the ribbon cable) Mine doesn't have those

@@_mylastname perhaps you can give me some insight on a failing PSU, my console randomly turns itself off and proceeds to tell me the console was turned off incorrectly. Have you come across PSU's with symptoms of this nature ? The extra PSU I ordered from Amazon was delivered broken, so I'm currently in a refund process. I purchased a ASHATA brand PSU if anyone was curious.
@@evizzlegaming1008 honestly, not sure what's causing that problem. Could there be something on the power rail?? I had my console turned off (properly) and unplugged from the wall for a few days and I got that messege when I turned it on..I know there's that little battery in there (2032 on the motherboard, not inside the PSU) but I honestly just don't know. These PSU are strange. I shocked myself, tearing one apart!! So be careful.
Just a question:
Is the power supply a reason, why the PS5 shuts off only while playing PS5 games? And even death stranding, PS5 version won't work, but ps4 version runs without issues....
Then, when it's shutting off, I have to disconnect the power cable from the PS5, wait a minute, reconnect it & then the power button works again 😅
Horrible especially when you play battlefield2042, second round after 35 minutes ends in the middle of the battle...😂

My best guess -> there is dust at the PSU.
When it's taking more power then as usual, it gets hotter, and the PS5 shuts down, because the dust gets then to hot, while the console can't cool down.
But I'm actually still guessing, only received until now the answer, that they received some days ago my PS5..

The thing with getting someone else to do it, you pay for their time as well as their skills. Also for that particular repair business, they have to get some sort of profit off of the work, otherwise what's the point in even doing it? lol
You'll often see the Part cost + Margin + Tax (at least in the UK) + Labour (Time & skills) cost + Tax.
Providing you are capable and feel up to any challenge, you can always save money by doing it yourself.

@@techagekyup it's a trip cuz i feel like almost ANYONE can repair everything but one of my worst customers was a jacked military bro twice my age who was crying gettin frustrated cuz i made him open his own roach infested ps5 outside. He would come back every 2 mins to ask questions or make me take out a "stuck" screw.
My PS5 PSU failed after a lightning strike. Managed to get a psu from Ebay and the other accessories from amazon, including the magnetic screw mat.
This tutorial was a life saver, i’ve never done anything similar to this fix and following carefully the video i was able to change the PSU and now my PS5 is working fine again. Thanks!

Advice to new people: make sure you take pictures with every removal of a plate/cover of something and circle where the screws go on the photo lol. Although I had the same kind of power supply, my PS5 looked different inside. It didn't look exactly like his. In the end, the surgery was a success!

It isn't hard. Just take it slow. Pause the video every step and follow along. Also buy a surge protector. You can get them for as low as $10 and they will save your electronics.

It’s almost impossible to find one. I’ve been looking for over 6 months
what power supply did everyone get? This just happened to me and I am raging lol. Played 3 hours of Space Marines 2 on Thursday and today is Saturday I go to turn my system on and no power at all. luckily it turned on for 6 seconds and was able to get the disc out. I'm definitely capable of doing this repair but just want to be 100% sure what power supply everyone got to replace the OEM Sony one.

Did you ever find the answer to this? I just replaced mine with a new power supply from Amazon that was missing the cords, and apparently they power the bluetooth. So obviously my controller doesn't work.
@@MegatronJon8 you have to take them off the power supply you already have. They are called “Bluetooth wifi antennas”. The metal clip they are connected to are a clip that can be taken off and exchanged
You gotta buy them separately if that was what you were looking for
They should be on your old power supply to take off and re add to your new.

My PS5 shut off out of nowhere while playing RE4. When I try to turn it on, it beeps, blue light and then it's off. It doesn't even boot. Is this maybe also just the power supply? It was more warm than usual on the spot where the disc drive is.

Does anyone know? My old PSU had a metal fence with the blue and white wire solder to it. The replacement comes with just a plastic piece and no wires. Any idea? Do I have to grab it off the old one?

I have checked the power supply and I have the 12V. but look lite I have a short circuit around the hdmi circuit. 1RO 121 05P is in short-circuit. and when i plug the ps5 I can see also my tv goes off and when i unplug it tv goes on again.

My old power supply has the blue and white wire coming out but when I ordered the new one it doesn’t seem to have it. Does it matter?
Im doing this currently. I have a full torqs set and none of the screws were the same. Different sizes, different types. We had sent off this ps5 for repair, it sat for a month before it was worked on too close to its expiration date and was then denied before any work was done on it. We were told it had been disassembled before the rejection but not fixed. If youre buying a ps5, the insurance is not worth it just get it off a scalper. It is both cheaper and more reliable to do it yourself.

I’m trying to investigate and diagnose my ps5 I was away on vacation my sister was house sitting and there were a few storms that caused outages. Unfortunately my ps5 was connected directly to the wall so I’m assuming a surge came through the power lines. Is the minimum amount of damage just the PSU? It won’t turn on at all and no beeps or anything response from the usb ports

so about a couple days ago i woke up to a popping sound and i figured it came from my ps5 since when i went to check on it a a burnt plastic smell was coming directly from it. i had to disassemble it and checked on the motherboard and luckily it wasn't damaged so when i got to the PSU i noticed the smell was stronger there. i'm ordering a new one in a couple of days and wanted to ask if the 2 thin cables attached to the psu also come with the new one or will i have to learn to do that myself?

My ps5 overheated about 4 times, now I fixed the overheating problem but it loses power randomly and shuts off. So disappointed 😔

Is there a way to dust out those holes for the power supply ventilation without taking it apart?
Do you have to take all the screws off the board cover? Or will the 2 in the back and one long screw on the right lift the board off the power supply?
I think I need to do this.. It started making a strange noise. Maybe the PSU fan is dirty or something.
This is a great guide. My Ps5 got fried by lightning recently. It was plugged into a surge protector and wasn't even on. Using this I was able to change out the PSU and now it's back to normal.. thank jeebus

@@wtfitsbrandon it wasn't the motherboard on mine. I was able to buy a psu for about 200 bucks and replace it myself.. 200 isn't cheap but it beats buying a new ps5

HELP!! I had a ADP-400DR in my PS5 which has two black and white wires connecting to the motherboard (5:41). Can this be replaced by PA-1401-JT20 which doesn't have these wires, but the seller claimed on Amazon that it is compatible. Currently waiting for a response from them, meanwhile anyone with any info around this, kindly help please.
He I just did this replacement on mine last night. I don't recommend buying anything besides the ADP-400DR. However, you have to remove the metal clip with those wires from the old power supply and just clip them onto the new one in the same spot. The video said nothing about that.
Yesterday my PS5 decided not to turn on at all. Basically pressing or holding the power button does nothing. I'm not sure if it's the power cable itself or the power supply in the machine. Do you recommend getting it fixed somewhere or doing it yourself? Any replies would me much appreciated. I've only had the console about 2 months

Bro same problem was mine I guess ur power module is short circuited so try to get it from Amazon its going to cost you 150 to 200 dollars and just replace it that's it it worked for me..
Update: I decided to see if Sony could do anything so I sent my console to them and they replaced it with a new one for free. I didn't do much gaming on it and a lot of my saved data was through ps plus online storage which helped massively. A month or so in with my new PS5 and I've had no issues since

Do you know if an ADP-400dr power supply on a PS5 cfi-1215 is also compatible with an older generation PS5 (B chassis, cfi-10161a which also has an ADP-400dr power supply)?
If it’s the same model of power supply then yes it’ll work. I have the newest model of the ps5 which uses a adp-400df unfortunately no one has uploaded a repair on my model. It looks pretty different then this older model

Why would a power supply boost diode go out
