    Good video, and narration. I left Bolton in 2002, wish I'd have been able to watch these great machines. "Fred Dibnah". 😁

    I remember seeing the Bolton steam museum on 1 of Fred Dibnahs programs once , I believe at that time they’d just moved into the building after losing their previous building.
    Then later I visited Fred’s house around 8 years ago now I’m not sure when it was open as a heritage centre and at that tie we went round to Bolton steam museum but unfortunately it was shut that day.
    Looking at it now on your video it’s absolutely fantastic what a long way it’s came and with Fred’s engine there too ( that blue No8 engine looks rather familiar too ) I’ll definitely need to try and make the journey from Ayrshire in 2024 to get a look 👍🏻

      It’s definitely worth a visit, make sure you get there on one of the steaming days!! They then run everything on steam throughout the day, you’ll get the sound, smell and heat!! All the best, Matt👍

      Thank you. Yes, would be a lot of money just to come to Bolton from yours! 😂. We plan to return at some point, so we may do more on the larger machines. We have also found some other interesting places to visit too!! All the best, 👍, Matt

      Thanks @M1PAC.PHIL . Thats much appreciated. Don't forget to check on the museum website and check for steaming days which I would say are the best as they run one of the big machines every 15mins throughout the day. All the best, Matt.

    This is the best place to commemorate Fred Dibnah. You should think about it.

      Maybe, you should suggest it to them. They already have one of his steam engines in there. All the best, Matt 👍

    I love all that mechanical moving especially since I'm crew on a steam locomotive here in California SP 2472 , you should do like we did have some mechanical engineering students come in there and try to figure out the mechanical advantage of those units they'll blow a brain cell trying it 😂😂

      Hi, is that the P8 class? I could stand for hours watching the motion move on these engines, very hypnotic. All the best, Matt

    5:28 this is also known as a Weir Type Steam Pump. We have one to supply water to the boiler at Tees Cottage Pumping Station where I volunteer. This video is amazing! I’ve subscribed. If you like steam you might like some of my videos if your interested

      Thank you, that’s much appreciated. I had a brief look this morning at the Tees Cottage Pumping station, it looks very interesting, I have put it on the list of locations to visit and possibly film. All the best, Matt

    Are many of those old engines been scaled down to model steam engines???? Thank you as I am 67 years old and I think your engines are awesome 🇺🇸👍👍👍

    • @MattChiversWorkshop
      @MattChiversWorkshop  2 роки тому

      Thanks Gary, Only one of the engines in the video is a smaller model which was used in training, which is still a large engine. The Museum does have a section of scale models which I didn't show in the video. I plan to revisit the Bolton steam museum as there is a lot I missed. All the best, Matt.

      Hi Eliot, it's the little maroon one when I said it in the narrative, its the one with the "Caroline" nameplate, named after his daughter. 👍. Matt.

      I know, it really takes the shine off the industrial history within the walls of the building, should have got them all to leave before I filmed.
