This engine wasn't running when we visited, even though their website said it would be. The last time we visited Langford must have been 10 or more years ago. As Easter Friday was lovely weather, we thought we'd pay a visit. The museum itself was very quiet, so we were able to get round fairly quickly and take a few photos. Nothing seems to have changed in the intervening years. I know the museum is staffed and run by an army of volunteers, many of whom are advanced in their years, but many of the exhibits are looking very tired and in desperate need of some TLC Then as it was coming up to lunch time we popped into the Cafeteria for a bite to eat, only to be told there would be an hour's wait for any food, even a sandwich. So we had a pot of tea, even though we only wanted two cups (so many places do this) and a couple of biscuits, costing £8, then made our way home after being there for about an hour. We weren't the only ones I assume the cafeteria is run as a concession, but their high prices will surely put people off going. It's a shame, as the museum will ultimately suffer.
Hi Avalon563, brilliant video and many many thanks, myself and my colleague Debbie are new Museum Visitor Coordinators at the Museum and we are really aiming to put this place on the map, this will really help! One thing - you say it correct in the video that we are at Langford, but on this page it is Langdon? Can you please change it to Langford? Many thanks!
Hello James. Thank you for your comments, we filmed last year and due to other commitments have only just started the edit for 'Steam Powered Pumping Stations part three'. Our prime contact at Langford is Terry and he has identified that in the text about the video on UA-cam I used 'Langdon - not Langford', but that has now been corrected. The final segment about the Museum of Power on the DVD will be about twice as long as this short UA-cam piece. Regards Graham Sayers Avalon Video
Wonderful, so good that this is preserved & open to the public....
Magnificrent. Congratulations to the volounteers for their stirling work
Awesome that all this is saved
I went there in September 2018. I absolutely love this place. 👍
Excellent. The music reminded me of 1970’s company films with Patrick Allen narrating lol
