What a great place and your lad was so funny after his power nap!. The Ford V4 was probably from a Mk1 Transit van judging by the height of the gear lever. Also the SAAB version has a fiber timing gear too. If you want to see a Napier Deltic running, they run them at the east Lancs railway in Bury. Cheers, Mick.
The small Foden looks like a smaller/trunk version of many crosshead marine main propulsion engines, often reffered to as "poppet valve" with port controlled scavenge air inlet and mechanical/hydraulic exhaust valves in the "cylinder cover" (head). The Deltic was similar to simpler in line crosshead opposed piston marine engines like Burmiester and Wain or the probably better known Doxford. The inlet port at one end of the stroke and exhaust on the other is known as "cross scavenging". That pale blue 4 cyl looks awfully like a Perkins. A scrap cross bolted Rover, what a surprise. I must check that out next time I'm down that way, thanks for the heads up.
Very interesting 25 mins Andy 👍can’t believe how many engines and machinery there is there , great video , can’t believe you just went past the mini motor 😂😂 Your little one on video, he’s so funny , so many questions he was asking and telling you how it worked , brilliant Andy 👍if I’m ever around that way I’ll be popping to have a look , thanks for taking us around this place 😊
I think you're right on that foden engine , the supercharger compresses air in the crankcase & is forced through the transfer ports just like a standard two stroke engine when the piston moves on the compression stroke it pushes more air in than just atmospheric pressure to give more power a bit like a Detroit bus engine, the Napier Deltic was used in fast patrol boats as well as the famous class 55 loco which had two of those 88 litre monsters , thanks for letting us tag along on a great day out😊.
Thanks for this video, I live 25 miles away from this place and had no idea it existed. The Deltic I'd love to see running. Get that bigger bottom end built! Cheers for the vids
Tub of barrs leak will sort that crack out (probably) . I am off to stop in chesire this weekend the mrs wants to go to tatton park and jodrell bank, looks like I've found my choice.
When your littlun woke up, that was it no stopping him, loved it.
What a gem! On my list and only half an hour away too!
Great video..I'm on holiday on the Macclesfield canal ..I must check this place out while I'm close.. thanks for the heads up

Brings back memories when I took my son to these sort of places. Young lad will have his own channel soon!.
Brilliant. I keep talking about going...must get on with it now!
Very interesting Motors and a young future Engineer 😉
Another place to add to the visit list.
Not sure I will have such an expert guide though 😂

Some lovely engines there well worth a look around, the cosworth is wide as too keep the centre of gravity low. That's my guess
of coarse oh hadn’t thought about that 👍
I was on my way to the Anson museum, but had, unfortunately, take another road down the country. Next time I go to UK it will happen!

Drop off an 875 for the collection 👍👍
The napier deltic was based upon German technology, used on MTBs and locomotives. Absolutely monster engine.
used to be an engine museum in Hove dont know if still there.
the modern day engines are rubbish compared to those old beauties
