Nice to hear it. From Quebec.
Clear, concise, no "filler" chatter. I appreciate that you not only explain the how, but also the why (so we are not tempted to skip a step!), of your process. You are consistently one of the best in presentation and instruction, as well as your finished products. Thank you.
Brilliant, and as somebody who is partially deaf, I really appreciate the lack of loud, obnoxious background music that others often use whilst still trying to speak. This was such a calming tutorial. Many thanks.
I totally agree...I have ADD and that loud crazy background music can be so distracting
I LOVED you doing a beginner's video! So helpful, please do MORE!
How do I remove a piece that I painted with 3 coats of paint and the buildup of paint left areas of sticky paint on it that is not coming off with a sander. It gets hot and melts, but won’t come off
I completely agree. Please do more for beginners! You are an inspiration!
Katie: “if I can offer any advice, start with something small”
Me: gutting a large 60’s stereo/radio cabinet and turning it into storage for liquor and glasses for my first project
It’s gonna be beautiful tho.....cane webbing will be here Tuesday to finish it!, I love your videos!
Lol, sometimes you just have to dive in and freak yourself out 😂😜
That sounds amazing - I'd love to see it!
Nonsense and Sensibility
Chapter 5
The poetry of discarded materials...
It started with a small skinny legged thing ...
It seemed inconsequential, but not to the artist --
Taking the pain staking , but necessary , steps needed...
The poor little discard became a beauty...ready to be tucked in,"where ?" and useful again.
The poetry of a discarded thing is lovely indeed !
That’s beautiful!
this was filmed in such a thoughtful way
I have a table like yours that I use in the hall at front door. For many years I contemplate...painted, stencils, transfer stickers ...oh my! lol Today you help me made a firm decision. Thank you for your expertise. I love it❤
That color is gorgeous! I will give that paint a try. Always happy to support my fellow Texans!
When you're a newbie. You can never see/ hear the basics too many times! Love the color. I plan on trying it out soon.
I love a back to basics. And you’ve got all the good tips without overwhelming a beginner. AND the best advice ever: read the label. Beautiful job!
What a great tip to mix your top coat with a bit of your paint !
Hi Katie, every time I watch your videos, it reminds me why I love to paint furniture and such. Not only does the furniture become new, but I also feel renewed. I was raised to respect what we had,
even when we had very little, and in so doing, everyone, for the last 3 generations, that I know of, are creators. Painters, tool & die makers, quilters, builders, gardeners, yarn artists, bakers, and so many more. We see a pile of scraps and discards as possibilities. I can't imagine life any other way. Thanks for reminding me each time I visit your channel that even small changes, made with love, enrich more than the moment, but in many ways, our spirit.🌷Oh, love the tally skinny table.🌷
I love the care and attention to detail, going over multiple steps, I see too many You Tuber up-cycling furniture to sell who just slap the paint on and then claim they are going for a shabby chic finish when it’s just poorly done 😟 I loved the tip about adding a little paint to the sealant top coat 👍🏼👍🏼
Hello from Alabama! As a beginner, I think my intimidation is the number of times one has to go back over with coats of paint. The artist in my wants to make the transformation in one coat and be done. But I'm learning that I have to be patient with the process, to do quality work for my customers. I completely agree with you about starting small. Thanks for the great instructional video. -Stephanie
Katie, I am a terrible painter! I feel if I watch you often enough, my next project won’t be a disaster. I pick up tips each time I watch you, so thanks for this beginners video (I think i will always be a beginner lol) and sharing your knowledge with us. Happy weekend!
Katie I loved this little video. So easy to get disheartened with all the fancy tools the furniture flippers use these days but your little piece reminded me it’s just as good without…if a bit longer. Love your work and your charitable heart. Well done xx
Katie,. You are such a Charming and Gracious individual.I really love your channel, and your clear concise instructions. Thank you for all you do! You are great. Kim 63 yr old Florida Girl.
OMG where have you been all my life lol! FINALLY a video for a beginner that just tells it like it is. You have almost given me the confidence to paint my 2nd hand stuff. You're awesome Katie!
Love your uploads. You inspired me to try furniture upcycling when I ended my office job after many years of stress, and I’ve never been happier. Have learned so much from you and I’ll be forever thankful.
I found a little table like that 30 years ago, I scraped 4 layers of paint for a long time , didnt have that fancy stuff . I wouldnt dream of painting it ever . I am inspired to refinish it again ❤👍🏻thanks
I’m a messy painter too. It’s so relaxing watching people paint in nice elegant strokes but I love to see someone doing it messy and not perfect and I’m like hell yea that’s me lol. I really love that color ❤
Your amazing, and I always look forward to your uploads! You've been a major inspiration for me to start flipping myself. I've learned a ton from your content. Great vid, and copious amount of love being sent your way :)
Awe thank you! Your channel is doing so great. Am I subscribed??? I’m going to go double check now ❤️

Mrs. K, thank you for the transparency in all of your videos. I watch them every week and have been inspired to do some on my own. Firstly, I rely on using all the paints and brushes that you use. As a beginner I truly appreciated your in depth education on the products and the process.
I appreciate that you are so thorough; and don't take shortcuts. Good work...and you are easy to listen to.
Thank you! You are the first refinisher l have seen who shows what furniture bleed looks like. Everything was informative and thorough!

Love all the step-by-step instructions! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent with us!
Hi Katie! Love all the work you do!
Katie, although you know what you are doing, don't take for granted the dopes out there do. It would be good to tell people to sand the grain. But I love what you do.
You are the best teacher for me 👩🏫
Terrific!! Can't wait to start my painted furniture project this summer. You make things so understandable that you give hope to all of us who might be a bit nervous to start on such a project. Keep it simple!
Thank you 😊👌🥰 so much ❤️👍😊 for the excellent advice. Truly appreciate it xx God bless 🙏❤️
It is always good to be reminded about the basics. Thank you.

The tin foil in the paint tray Is such a great yet simple idea.
This is such a great guide and a beautiful piece!
So kind of you to teach!! 💗
Love your paint additive idea to the top coat! ❤️❤️❤️
Totally motivated now to do a table just like this that I’ve been putting off for a while, thank you! Also for the veteran owned paint recommendation❤
Thank you! Love your tutorials and projects.
That color is absolutely sublime!
Love the way you walk us through this! Its just fabulous, incredible !!!!!
Looks excellent---love your staging!
Beautiful color. It's a simple piece that turned out gorgeous. I love simple furniture. Great piece to start learning how to paint furniture. Thanks Katie !!
Katie, thank you for the tips! You really inspire us beginners. Lovely color!
Thank you very much for sharing these beginner tips! So pretty.
What a darling project! Thank you Katie!!
First video I’ve seen using sanding and a primer under chalk paint to give a smooth finish. Brilliant idea. Most videos I’ve seen just paint the chalk paint right over the piece with very little prep. Your technique is much better. It’s going to insure the surface is smooth with no bleed through. Thanks for this beginners video. As a beginner this video is priceless.
Now I’m really excited to start some new projects! Great explanation and encouragement! Thank you!
Great video Katie, full of straight forward, clear and useful information. Much appreciated
That color is absolutely beautiful, and the knob color too. They go so well together. Great job as always!
I really appreciated this video, it answered a lot of those little questions I was wondering about! Please do more like these!

Thank you, so very much, Katie for giving me the information and courage to paint some side tables that were my grand mothers. I have wanted to give them new life for many years but was afraid of messing them up! With your clear, concise instructions, I’m sure I can handle it❣️

Thank you so much for making this video! I have never refinished a piece before and always wanted to try but it seemed like so much expertise was needed!! Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us you are amazing, Blessings from the Bahamas
I've been binge watching your wonderful work for some time now, and after watching about 10 different amazing transformations with mesmerising results, I realized that not only you are very very good in reviving those pieces, but also extremely better in staging them, your staging for each piece of furniture with meticulous choices of decor pieces all around it is the seller here, kudos to your higher taste in interior design and great eye for "the little things" that makes a bigger difference. Many many thanks my dear.
Thank you so much

Love that color! Thanks for the new paint line -- so nice to have something good in the US! Thanks!!
Beautiful. And also the staging.
Beautiful. Love the color.
I was just planning on going to my local Lowe’s, (in Sugar Land, Texas!), to buy some paint for a bench I am fixing up. But this video caught my attention, I clicked on it, and now I am checking out Melange. Now I am just a little disappointed they don’t have a store front, because they are closer to my house than Lowe’s! Who knew someone in Canada would teach me about a local business in my own neighborhood in Texas. Thanks for the information, your table turned out beautiful.
What a sweet color! So cheerful.
I've watched this video so many times! Thank you for making something so clear, and easy to follow along as a quick reference. I just finished painting a dresser I painted over 20yrs ago. I checked this video as I finished each step to make sure I was on the right track. When I got my Chalk paint, I read the instructions 👍🏽 to confirm dry time. Thanks again!!!
LOVE the color.
What a beautiful little piece
What a lovely colour and transformation x
I'm from Italy and you have been truly inspirational for me to try my hand in restyling old furniture. I'm constantly learning something new! Thank you and a virtual hug from far away :=)
Looks amazing, love the color.♡
Glad I saw this video before starting to paint my coffee table. Very informative and easy to follow video.
Just found your channel. I’m moving to my own place in November and can’t wait to use my craft room to make over my furniture. Glad to hear that you can now get the paint in Canada.
All the best
