- In this tutorial I go over how to mix hip hop vocals in Cakewalk by Bandlab. This is a continuation of my how to record hip hop vocals in Cakewalk. In this video you will see how I use the stock plugins to mix the lead vocals of the track and how to make busses and create your own vocal chain. Let me know if you any questions about the process below in the comments. Cakewalk is a FREE DAW. Yes you read correctly FREE! This a complete DAW that use to be a paid software. It comes with effects, plugins, mastering tools, instruments and everything need to create music. I decided to try and start making beats in Cakewalk to see what it can do and so far so good. Definitely check it out.

Hey love the vid but , when I come to insert audio FX , I don't have all the choices you have , I don't even have cakewalk menu.. I am missing some stuff how can I get that so my list is as full as yours ?

Would you recommend mixing vocals in Cakewalk or Audacity?
I say use what you are most comfortable with digital is digital doesnt really matter what you use.. Unless you are using a DAW that colors your sound like harrison mixbus... Hope this helps..😄🙏

For some reason I don't have the vocal strip in my plug ins. How did you get it? I searched the plug in online and it seems like they had removed it from Sonar in the past. But since you still have it in Cakewalk it must be possible to get it, right?
Yes you can still get it.. Its kinda hidden.. And im not sure why.. Go to manage plugs..it in the browser tab .. Select vsts and at the bottom of that popup screen choose show hidden vst.. And they should be there just check them off and you sould have them on your list now.. Hope this helps..😄🙏

I'm having a problem where my doubles are not matching up. There's a slight delay. It's not latency, it 'really weird. Have you ever experienced this? Any ideas? thanks bro
You might not want to hear this but it could be latency... What interface are you using? What is your buffer settings? Are you using asio driver or wasabi? What are your computer specs processor ..ram.. space.. there are so many factors that could cause this... But usually it comes back to latency..🤔
@@XELOhh1 i'm using a cheap beringer interface. I'll check all of those other things though. It's not terrible but it just makes it hard to do a good double. it's just slightly off. very annoying. thanks man
There’s a nudge function in preferences, maybe you could just nudge one of the tracks left or right once or twice? Ghetto fix lol but could work if I’m understanding the issue properly.

If your still having issues with this you can try to go to preferences... Configuration file..... Enable Device Output Latency Compensation to False and see if that helps
Amazing tutorial man!! But I can’t seem to hear any sound when using the vx64 vocal strip DEESSER?? I’ve turned all of my effects/other tracks off but there’s still no sound being removed…even when ‘Listen’ is on for the DEESSER it just plays my vocal track and not what sounds are being removed ?? Please help bro
You are not really going to hear that much being taken away the desser is just for the highs and hisses in the vocals.. you should be able to hit the listen switch to hear what is being taken out of the vocals but it shouldn't be that much... You can move the filter around to get more of it but it's not going to take alot away from the original vocal .. I hope this helps..😀🙏🏾
@@XELOhh1 I can’t hear anything when using any of the other settings like the Compand or Tube Equaliser on the vocal scale either. Or when I adjust the frequency/depth etc. It’s almost as if I haven’t got it selected properly because it just plays my vocal track but isn’t letting me hear any of the adjustments I’m making with the switches, if that makes any sense? Try to go through the presets and see if they are working ... You might try turning off the desser to make sure it's not in listening ... But try the presets and see if you hear any change

Dude please can you tell me how to do multiply sends onto a track say like a verb send a delay send ect.
Create Bus tracks for what ever you are trying to do reverb.. delay.. compression... Then go to sends section under the track you want to add the effect to and choose what bus you want to send to the track.. try this video .. ua-cam.com/video/1MYYx_HjzxQ/v-deo.html around 20 in mark ... It will come with experience.. Just like everything else.... You have to keep doing it over and over and over and the more you do it the more get an understanding of what you are doing... Right click next to master tack create a bus track and add the effect that you want then go to the send section on your tracks and add the send level to the track... Or you can route all the tracks to that bus or aux track with the effects...hope this helps..😄🙏

How do you add stutters/adlibs etc
You can duplicate the track and cut what you want it add FX to clips to do echos and things like that.. it just matters what you want you can use plugins like stutter edit by iZotope to make some cool FX as well.. I hope this helps..😀🙏🏾
I can't find Vocal Strip or a DeEsser and I installed all 5 plug-ins when originally installing the program
I did do the EQ and compressor and whatnot for all my tracks for the new one im making, and just that made a huge difference so thanks for explaining that
Did u find the Vocal strip 🤔...Creative Sause has a good video about this if you have not found it yet... You have to go to the plugs manager and on the right toward the bottom you should see and option to un hide hidden vsts and just scroll through the vst option and you should see it enable it and you should be good to go.. There are plenty of videos showing how to record in Reaper.. Kenny has plenty of Reaper videos to help people with what you are asking ... There are not much Hip hop Trap videos for Reaper... That would be the lane I would take due to Reaper is more of a coders DAW... It has a pretty step learning curve if you don't mess with it alot.. Yea try to look up mixing in Reaper you will have plenty to see... I might jump in that lane as well but currently I'm on Cakewalk...😀🙏🏾

I like to build what I need... I dont really have a mixing template due to different people have different setups and plugins...
please come through with a templet for us king.
You can follow the video and determine what you need for your vocal template and save it ... not everyone uses stock plugins and some favor one plugin over others so a template wouldn't be very helpful especially if you work with different artist you would not have the same settings and you might have create a whole new chain per person
