Starting it today it looks amazing
how is it now?
u still playing?
So far I’m enjoying the game as a new recent player in FF14. A bit of figuring out but overall satisfied.
Same fun story but I miss Baderon though
Please dont skip the story, even the ARR story. Its slow af at first but it pays off monumentally down the line. Also dont skip the Crystal Tower sidequest story, its very important later on.
If you feel like having a goofy funny story to play through between main quests you can also do the Hildebrand Questline, which is great since finishing it unlocks the level 90 relic weapons for you 😁
@@chloekaftan yeah lol ARR story was really epic I miss Baderon
@@chloekaftan ARR was the most boring part of the game. I always suggest people skip it. It's hell to go through. Just skip it and watch a story summary of it on UA-cam.
It really really helps to be in a Free Company, the guilds of FF14! I'm 5 months into the game and only been on my own feet since a month or so but my Free Company had a major hand in that
I recently got into ff14. It really caught me by surprised. Aside from it being amazing in terms of story and gameplay, the community is fantastic as well. Since im new to the game and MMORPGs in general, i thought there would be so much pressure to be this perfect player helping out my party during a dungeon. Its what kept me from playing most MMORPGs. That was not the case at all in ff14. I always felt welcomed and if i didnt do as good as i maybe should have, people are so cool about it. I only ever been met with tips on how to improve and how to play my class better. The game feels so alive too which makes me feel so immersed. Its just a vibe to go into town and see what other players are getting into and listening to bards play their tunes. After a long day, u need some escapism and entertainment, this game does just the trick.
How was a realm reborn story
ok but have you tried other mmos. ff just has loud fans
@liltom513 yes, plenty. Played WoW, new world, ESO, fallout 76, FLYFF, vindictus, C9, runescape, and the list goes on. May be a loud player base, but it seems like theres a reason for it, imo. Its pretty damn good imo
Edit: just wanna say that i dont think those others are bad, ff14 was just the one that really grabbed me where as the others were just not it for me. Although FLYFF was super fun as a kid and got me into MMORPGs to begin with.
@@eightninety. imo, it was pretty good
Ive been in the exact same situation as you back in heavensward and met so many people who were really friendly and helpful, so now i do my best to be friendly and helpful to new players. Its just a matter of passing the torch helping them out 😊
Not needing a completely new charactor to try a new class is why I keep coming back to FFXIV, just being able to swap on the fly is sooo nice
After playing the genre for over 25 years and having worked in game design, I 100% believe that FF14 is the best value for new players when it comes to an MMO. Compared to WoW and GW2 I have by far had the easiest time getting new players into FF14 and the highest success with sticking to the game. The gameplay isn't perfect but everyone is generally happy with the visuals and design, the story is good enough to entice players along (most get hooked in HS which is great), and the progression of dungeons does a great job to teach new players mechanics. The issue with new players isn't really the game itself but that MMOs tend to be less popular with younger gamers and older gamers may no longer have the time to see proper value in investing in the game. I also see a lot of new players not necessarily quit, but play less often because they feel combat rotations are too complex and that later dungeons and trials have too many mechanics. I've played MMOs long enough that I don't feel that way, but I can empathize with them being overwhelmed.
The real issue that I've been seeing is with returning players.
I see plenty of hype for Dawntrail on social media, but in the real world I'm just not seeing it. After the launch trailer's full release and the new jobs announced I kinda polled my 3 FCs to gauge interest (two in NA and one in EU) and I found most players that had a lapsed sub weren't very interested in Dawntrail. Not to say they wouldn't play it, but they just weren't interested and were more curious about post-release content. I was more surprised to see many of them even considering going back to, or starting out in, WoW instead.
Personally, I agree that Dawntrail hasn't grabbed my interest. I was especially disappointed to find there was no real hook to going to Tural, which takes me out of the story before it even began. But I still adore the game and have never unsubbed, nor have I ran out things to do. I think the devs have more than earned my trust to at least give them the benefit of the doubt for now.
I felt it was always going to be hard to capture our attention for Dawntrail especially as endwalkers setup was post shadowbringers.
I predict that Dawntrail might not have a similar level of insane story but be more focused on giving new and interesting gameplay to spice up the formula
I played lots of wow and gw2 and recently tried ff14. Some things i feel it does well (dungeons, graphics, music). Some things it feels weak on (open world) and some things are a mixed bag (for example the msq in ARR has great moments but far too many filler quests). Of course tastes differ, but thats how i feel so far.
@tw7998 I'm guessing you've just got through ARR?
ARR definitely has way too much filler and you'll be glad to know that the developers do actually learn from that in the future expansions - which is why the layers ones are so beloved.
The expansion criticised as being the worst is mostly because "half the expansion is in the most beautiful maps of the game snd the other half are normal maps"
@@BeanSandwiches Yep i finished ARR base game and i am working my way through the post ARR quests, which seem to go on forever :)
@tw7998 yeah they do 😅
It's the longest post expansion and longest msq too.
I honestly think it needs a whole redo
As a new player I would say yes, but as a returning player, I can't say I have the same enjoyment of the game as I did a few years back. My friends are all gone (to other games), there are two people online in my fc and I've already completed the story. I'm trying to start a new character but going through all the quests and unlocking everything all over again feels more like a chore than actual fun.
I think they are thinking of being able to skip the story for returning players who have finished it which would be amazing honestly because it’s so long
New Players will have hundreds of hours to play through the msq that alone makes it worth it.
Most Players who have been playing for a long time(me included) have less content we actually enjoy to do currently.
I see it as a positive to recover from burning out and doing other things in life for the downtime till Dawntrail is releasing.
As a new player I’m extremely overwhelmed that so many hours seemingly need to be spent to fully get into the game. I constantly hear that “the game doesn’t get good until hundreds of hours in” and that’s a lot of time to spend to find out whether or not I like something
That is, if you don't own a house. Otherwise have fun keeping your sub 24/7 just to never loose it and don't forget to login every now and then.
Which is to this day still the most garbage aspect about the game lol
@@ro25988the issue, for new players especially is, how ARR is still laid out. You basically have nothing else to do then just be over leveled in the over world at all times, so no quest there has much meaning (and you can't die ever basically), which then means you are just running around and around from quest to quest with a few Scenarios and Dungeons sprinkled in ... For much much more time then any expansion afterwards (expansion usually are just 1/3 of ARR and have generally better pacing for everything too).
If you ain't feeling it near the end of ARR/Mid of Heavensward, you probably never going to like it.
Also, don't forget to do side activities I guess, because just running the MSQ forever and ever and nothing else just to "catch up" is a easy way to completely burn out on this game. Which is why so many people never really get very very far in the game or generally never like it.
😂
So new players have to go through hundrets of hours of cutscenes and dialogues before they actually can play this game like an mmo?
Ridiculous
But if I have a life and would rather skip the story altogether so I can enjoy everything the game has to offer it just feels like a chore. I used to play everyday but after some years past and seeing as I have to get through several expansions... I'll pass. I could pay to bypass the story but I would rather just play something else at that point.
For new players it is worth it for the amount of content they get.
For legacy or players that have completed most of the game, its a toss up on how much you love the game vs how much content is left.
As the later player, the down times are the worst cus there is nothing to do during the patches once done.
I feel the same after 4 years of playing i rarely login now and the only reason i still play 14 is housing.
you can always take a look at your achievements and set yourself goals to work towards to find things to do
or be like a friend of mine and make a new char to see how fast you can reach lvl 90 on all crafters without using the firmament
Play pvp. Be that monk that can consistently pop 30+k riddle of the earth healing

@@networknomad5600 Why force yourself to come to videos just to complain about the game? You're like a creepy ex who can't let go.
Honestly my big point of frustration is having to grind like crazy at endgame just to have a high enough average item level for the next single quest in the patch quest line.
See it that way you dnt work for nothing like wow when they deliver a new xpac all the hard obtained gear is cleared the firsts questlines of the new xpacs

Just a guess though it is a pretty hard comment to read
friends list are all offline (beside who go to clubs)
guild dead because most ppl are not playing for last 2 patches +
ff14 feels so weird that often time even those big patches dont bring many ppl back like in others games, only start of new expansion and end of it last month or so....
but if you are club enjoyer and etc game always relevent for you because they play it like a second life.
that sounds situational, my fc still has lots of activity.
while some long time players took a break to wait for more content, we have enough influx of newer players that all content stays relevant, like we still does monthly mount farm for gwibs, kamuis and sometimes even horses.
I don't think it's as situational as you'd want it to be. This is something i've heard a lot of people complain about in my social circles. @@DanielRoloff

Hello, i am a new player and plan to just take my time and play the MSQ, is there any leveling "guide" that tells me what skills to take so that i can just concentrate on enjoying the story? 😊
If you mean for like what class abilities to use, the usual answer is all of them but there are definitely going to be youtubers who say that - though for main story content it's unlikely to be a large issue.
There’s the new Adventure guide in the inn area teaching u the basics for each class(tanks/dps/heals) , that should give u some basic there
All new players should know they have to suffer through 40+ hours of one of the worst paced stories known to man before it even starts to get good. Talking hours upon hours of going back and fourth between people, traveling across the world just to talk to someone and immediately having to travel somewhere else to talk to another person. Having to do random obviously filler quests which are just there to pad it out. It is absolutely horrendous and the DLC isn’t good enough to slog through it, trust me.
Oh and every time it gets good it also 🎉gets a little bad
Yup that's the final fantasy I remember, I've never hated like I hate milfina in walking sands(or shifting sands)
I've started playing the FT on PC, I've even talked my BDO obsessed wife into trying the Xbox beta. The rotation videos I've seen have made my old man hands ache, figure I'll never do high level content but that's been the case in many games for some time now. The controller interface is very different from any other games I've played and will take some time to adjust. I like that I can use the controller alongside a m&k.
I mostly played single player games until I picked up Destiny during the beta, played about half of D2 but got sick of the way content would just disappear. From there I went to ESO and then BDO, the story content in ESO is ok, BDO is pretty much story free. I'll be playing both ESO and BDO while I play the FF14 FT. Eventually, I'll probably drop both ESO and BDO then sub on FF14.
i only reached current msq point like half a year ago, and there's so much stuff i put on hold/skipped over that i still have enough content for a whole year to do. i just started with bozja, still have all of eureka, previous relics, heaven on high, never done any actuall raiding either. then there's collecting all triple triad cards, getting a max racing chocobo, completing the sightseeing log, etc.
there is just so much stuff the game has to offer
I'd go back to Eureka but a 1234 dps rotation just aint enough man.
Just because there is content to do, doesn't mean that content is worth playing.
@@GoatOfWar Same. Game is super stale. Hell, it was stale two expansions ago.
@@networknomad5600Stale yet you're so invested you are watching a video about the game just to critique it in the comments.
Starting today let’s go
Hope your having fun!
3:20 I like how you compared a WOW beginners rotation guide to a step by step rotation of a full on raid from ff14. Hard does not mean good boss design.
WoW legit nerfs the bosses 3-5 times before the community beats the fights. It's that hard.. does it mean its a good boss fight? NO. now its nerfed so its obviously easier than FF14 raids which remain untouched for the most part
I wonder, is it necessary to buy some expansions? I mean to play fully like in gw2 beacuse im in the middle of coming back to gw2 or start playing ff14 beacuse i love these series.
The game is entirely free up to the second expansion, which is about 500 hours of content if you're fast and do literally everything available to you. No need to worry about that until you get there, really.
The good thing about FFXIV is that when you buy an Expansiom you get all of them... and i just remembered that the first 2 expansions are now free.
My problem with mmos in general isnt gameplay or monetization systems. Its generally the people to play with, since my friends arent really interested in these games. Love the design of FFXIV and I hope to abduct someone to play with this time around! Loved the video and sorry for the bad english since it isnt my first language! ❤
Yes playing since December 2023 and its my first MMO... the amount of things and content there is in this game.. oh man.. can easily last you even for years if you are casual player.

hows the player base currently? and how is the community compared to other mmo's? xD
Very large,
Still small queues even though we are currently at one of the "low points" of population (though nowhere near even touching under a million on at once)
With the expansion coming out in June a massive player surge is expected. Last major update there were 5k queues.
This does of course depend in your server though.
Japan Europe and NA all are very busy though as the Oceania servers are still quite new they have a lot less players.
If you look to join be wary that servers that have a "Preffered sastus" means that world has a lower population compared to others, and you get a double xp bonus because of it.
This can be anywhere from a few less players to litteraly empty though.
But apart from that, very strong community.
@@BeanSandwiches what US servers are more populated?
@@mousey_2 can't say for certain as I'm on Europe but likely whatever datacenter includes the server named "Balmung"
That's a centre of RP players and is very, VERY congested but because dungeons trials etc pull from a datacentre and not a server itself, if you go on a server outside of balmung you will likely get very active dungeon experience just without the insane queues and notoriety... that balmung has.
I am playing on the lowest EU world Alpha with 200k players the rest is all above that 400k+ with largest i've seen at 600-800k which is phoenix I believe on Light.
In my opinion it's all about how much you enjoy a shonen-like "power of friendship" kind of story. Personally, I liked some of it, some other parts were just tedious or bland. There are way too many npcs that you're supposed to be friends with and care about, everyone (aside from the villains) is a pretty one-dimensional stereotypical good character that I don't really feel drawn to. For example, I disliked Alphinaud and the other guy who speaks archaic English basically from the start. I ended up not enjoying having to deal with them or downright forgetting who some of the "secondary" npcs were and why I should care about them. There are many good aspects about the game, I find the combat mechanics to be really satisfying, the class/job system is so much better than other mmos, the community is by far the best I've ever seen on an online game and there's a ton to do before reaching the endgame. Just curb your expectations on the story because most youtubers talk about it like it's incredible and shocking etc. I didn't really connect that much, I found some portions of the main story to be really tedious and I didn't really care about stuff that was happening or npcs who died etc. In my experience it all depends on how hooked you get on the main story of each expansion and how much you like/tolerate the other characters, my experience has been that some of that is great, some has been pretty boring for me. That's basically why I came to watch this video, I wanted to see if there's something interesting after Endwalker, I'd like to play the game again because it's great but I'm hoping that they kind of "reset" the whole gang of npcs or make the story less tied to the supposed bonds you have with them, otherwise I doubt that I'll be enticed to play it.

I haven't seen the game completely in "alive patch time" because Endwalker was already slowing down.
That being sald, for new players... Game is far but FAR from dead, don't lie nostalgic players... It has a lot of content to do. You can do mostly every content in every moment for the ability to DC jump (for example, I live in the Datacenter Dynamis and jump into Aether to do high level content).
There's a LOT to do, a lot of people playing right now and seriously the game for a "dead patch" right now has an insane community and new people everyday.

Slow, boring, designed to waste your time...
I've been playing FFXIV off and on for about 10 years my toon is very lackluster however I still find immense joy from this game.
I think there needs to be a community for people who don't really have people to play with to link up and see what others want to do in game.
Been wanting to join a MMO ever since I stopped playing RO years ago. Is there still a community for this game?
Huge community. One of the biggest currently.
It's usually around slightly under WoWs playerbase - though last expansions released It eclipse it because of how shadowlands did, I don't imagine that will happen this time.
Does depend on your server though, some offer a xp boost for being a "preferred world" which means atleaat at the time of making your character, that world / server is less popular then the orhers
I'm still waiting on the graphics update before I continue push through ARR 😅
Just skip/run through it. Rush ARR, it's boring and so bad - If story is what you want, complete ARR and watch a summary of ARR story on youtube or something. Graphics update won't make up for the bad and slow start of ARR
@@SKandSCS I am personally enjoying it so far. I have no feeling to rush or skip anything. Started out as a new player last week and having fun

Criterion isn't mythic+....
Thas more savage raids and ultimates.
Which whilst I can't say if those are better in your or my opinion as I haven't played WoWs mythic plus, atleast comparing to the correct content would be more genuine.
Also they had copied from mythic+ near the start, but made changes because there were parts people didn't enjoy.
Criterions are new additional content but it's not a mythic+
please stay in WoW.

As someone who played 4k+ hours of this I can say, that this game is must have... If you don't mind all the japanese bullshit and anime things. If you do - you'll not last long.
Not saying any negatives = a fanboy review. Imo story has too many a pulls, dues ex, no urgency as the characters are not even likable except for their character designs. When ppl say the story is good they only mean the mostly out of pocket and cheap climaxes of the current story arc which I've been around this type of media to know that's literally all it takes for ppl to praise something so hard.
I'll give a spoiler. Stormblood, so many chances to kill an enemy or even ally yet it never happens, then someone will die for the shock value, insert typical "I love you bro, love you too bro" cheap dialogue anyone can write, then repeat for the next arc.
Heaven sword, yeah let's throw down these all powerful items away instead of locking them away, oh they got taken? Oops.
Everything in this game is legit pointless, que times are crazy long for DPS, you walk around far more than play combat, combat is the same every dungeon and raid, zero rpg mechanics and systems and if so it's only for healers to work around aka esuna.
I truly believe most guys that play this game or defend the game only do so because girls play this game, and girls play this game only because it's pretty and you can be a strong/cool female MC which is not very common in gaming. It's an experience us guys can't understand so I'm not saying that is bad.
I can't login because of a 1 time pass code
is FF 14 also worth playing if i doesnt have any interest in the story ? im playing mmos for well... dungeon, Raids and collectables so im a story skipper all the way
I'd say so,
Here's some pros and cons I'd imagine:
Pros:
- The gear from Raids / dungeons and collectibles such as mounts from such content look SICK. This is because the "cool looking gear" is put in game rather then behind a cash shop. So when you complete a really hard fight you'll definitely feel rewarded.
- The difficult fights have aot of production value including their own songs, ad are never just "more hp bigger damage" but always include actual extra mechanics and what not.
- The collectible game is huge in FF14 with the aforementioned mounts, minions (small things that follow you around), triple triad cards, etc.
-The content thst people run isnt always limited to only what just dropped , past content is often still run because its loot is still worthwhile to get.
- Class balancing is very good. To the point it was considered a major controversy when 2 classes were considered unusable by a world first for a certain boss that had a super tight damage check
Cons:
- Without buying a story skip you will need to go through the entire story to the end of ARR and then each subsequent expansion to unlock each of their harder content.
- at this exact moment, the raiding scene is quiet as the patches for ew have wrapped up but when dawntrail releases they will likely surge again
-some of the recent difficulties fights were released slightly unfinished which were really annoying for endgame raiders, they did get fixed eventually though and if your not looking for world firsts you should be fine
-complaints that the classes fee too similar to play, they used to be much more unique but now whilst they still appear as such they have gotten alot more simple then they used to be.
I mean maybe but the story is really good and worth paying attention to the gameplay in this is super similar to wow but the end game dosent have a much to do as wow so if your only here for the end game somewhere like wow might be more what you are looking for
@pooshrek7796 I'm not going to say your wrong as I have never played WoW before so I don't know what I'm comparing too, but may I ask what parts of ff14's hard-core content your comparing too?
Also from what I've heard isn't it true that in WoW the cool looking gear isn't from hard content but the cash shop?
@@BeanSandwiches wows cash shop consist of a few mounts, non combat pets, about 4 sets of extremely ugly cosmetic gear, and lastly the services like name change, race/class change, server transfer, etc
And like I said u might be more suited to wow since you don’t care about the story with ffxiv having such a long questing and leveling experience you may become burnt out quick or not be able to get into the game before u can make it to that end game content. Both games have incredible end game content but ffxiv just has a significantly better leveling experience if that’s what your into both are worth a try to see what u like better
@@pooshrek7796 think you got me and the other person confused lol
Lost Ark player here, raid looked intresting, starting a playthrough today
I saw a 44 stack of skill/spell shortcuts. Holy crap.
Thinking about returning to FF14 but I might only pay by the month in case I get burned out again. I'm seriously considering staring a free-trial character to relive the story though. It has been YEARS since I experienced ARR story.
So this game has a paid subscription after the trial?
Im loving my time in the game!
Same just started
can someone whos progd all of lost ark like i have and all of this game tell me whats better and why, Loa end game is a fucn snooze grind i cant with it anyone ever since elixirs came to the west it was the final straw for me
whats your headgear at 3:31 ? i need it 😮
It's either a PvP piece or a dungeon piece from the 60-70 region. Sorry if this doesn't help much but hopefully that narrows it down some.
Kind of late to seeing this but I believe its from the Grand Cosmos dungeon!!
@@Magumbaa you are right 🥰🥰🥰thank you very much
I remember quitting playing years ago because of how toxic the community was. Is it still similar?
It's fine 👍
I haven't played in 5 years, I really want to get back into it again QAQ
Currently unsubbed atm til collab then unsub again til Dawntrail lol
The combat looks interesting and I like how it looks like WoW combat but the characters all look so goofy..
Nah not after you hit endgame and realize you aren’t qualified to do savage content unless you have friends
cleared every savage in partyfinder i have never been in a static so that's not true. i want to raid whenever i want and not at fixed times😅
@@Alpinisto_llokay but that would still mean you had people to play with that you had to communicate with. Regardless of that there’s no vareity in play style. Play your class one way or don’t play at all
@@Alpinisto_llnone of your choices matter in this game
@@crustyandcruel”none of your choices matter” this must be your first mmorpg.
I mean people argue this but will play moba the exact same way with no change whatsoever. The argument of "play it one way or not at all" is a very shallow mindset. Every class has a core game plan yea but there's alot of variance from fight to fight, depending on the downtime, uptime, and strats
I've been away from the game for just over a year and I'm considering coming back. I've always loved your content and this one doesn't disappoint. But watching this video and the game play, there's a color dynamics/contrast that I don't remember experiencing back when I played. The game I remember had a unique/stylized lower-contrast, muted color palette. I know that there are plugins/addons that can bump up the visuals, is this video using any enhancement tech to make the imagery POP!? If this is what the game looks like now, I'm even more excited to jump back in!
Its a good time to return !
I am using some ReShade/Gshade Filters, so its not the default Look of the game.
Check out the many guides, I have on my channel about these topics, to make it look the same as in the video 👍
I have almost all level 90s on my account, but the endgame is really boring so I quit
I got into FFXIV on a whim, completely by myself, summer 2021, hell, first two months I was still only half-playing the game while as a trial, but I already liked a lot of the things about it, despite the story still feeling mediocre (I was still doing ARR chores), there came a point where I decided to say fuck it and bought the complete edition and instantly met some cool people both in my FC and just random interaction shenanegans, etc. Took my time, ended up beating Shadowbringers in +6 months because I was that engrosed in doing side content, such as synced/minimum item level trials, old savage raids, crafting, gathering, etc. Then Endwalker came out, beat that bad boy in a few weeks, beat the whole Asphodelos raid tier in over a month, ended up realizing there's content like Eureka and Bozja, so jumped on that wagon, beat DR Savage, beat Baldession Annex while in some great european communities catered to that, honestly amazing times had. Then managed to beat a few easier ultimates with a good group of people, but by second Savage tier (which I still quite enjoyed) I started to see some cracks in the content drip of Endwalker. I beat the first three fights in two weeks, a few weeks later ended up killing the last boss of the tier too and then just sort of didn't know what to do with myself because attaining BiS wasn't attractive to me anymore, doing parse runs wasn't attractive either, fresh ideas like Island Sanctuary and Criterion were mishandled and are way too little of timesinks to keep you interested, and so admittedly not even 1.5 years of playing this game near daily I started to feel...bored? I used to be excited to hop on almost every day and do whatever content interested me (and there was a lot), but after catching up on everything interesting it's the type of game that loses charm pretty quick unless you're one of those Limsa social butterflies who parade their Mare'd Second Life looking glams.
I ended up unsubbing last summer after beating the savage raid tier and struggling to find an ultimate static with solid timeslots and haven't looked back. I'll definitely play Dawntrail, and not to sound like r/ffxivdiscussion, but this game NEEDS some serious shake-up to keep more "midcore/hardcore" people hooked for more than a year or two. You might say the solution is the classic "JUST PLAY OTHER GAMES BRO XD THAT'S WHAT YOSHI-P SAYS" and it's true, that's what I've been doing since beating Endwalker's story anyways, wouldn't pass up any of the big single player games while playing FFXIV, hell I used to be refreshing party finder trying to get a P4 clear group going while playing Elden Ring, but I don't think the "just resub when u feel like it" works when most of the content they drop every four months, can be done in less than a week.
ANYWAYS, hope you enjoyed my pointless ramble, tl;dr is the game will ALWAYS be worth playing as a newcomer, that will never change, there's hundreds (or thousands) of hours of content to enjoy. At the very least you can treat it is a single player game that has +150 hours of main story content for a relatively low price.
Walloftext
Feels fair,
As a casual player there definitely has been more content for us then the hard-core players.
Though I believe that's because they've spent alot of the profits on EW on massive overhauls (graphics)
So hopefully they are planning to do a big shakeup for dawntrail, and they are using post EW to prepare for it
FF14 is a complete miss for me. Got to lvl 15ish before leaving - it's not fun, community ignore newbies; I wasn't able to join newcomers network due to lack of mentors or them not giving a fuck. I don't care for the story, just wanted to jump in, socialize, run some dungeons. None of that, not a glympse of that. My interactions with others were like this: someone jumped over me and me trying to greet/speak to some ppl with no effect. Got bored to death, game literallly dragged me for 5 min walk to kill 3 mobs that I did in 15 seconds and then run all the way back to do excacly the same thing as another quest.
When the fun starts? Ah right, I should add EU,chaos, phantom
I also played on Chaos DC Sagittarius server and I totally understand you...Light DC doesn't fare better either. Sorry for replying to you after 5 months but it just happened to stumble on your comment :)))
@@Shuran03 no biggie Im having a blast in ddo now xD
Haven't touched the game in about a year. I check in on 14 content creators every so often to look at the comments because by far... this games community is the most bizarre. Yoship literally pulls some narcissistic/reverse psychology bullshit on all of you and actually has you convinced you're okay with a lack of content. Literally any other developer taking this stance of "no we give you nothing on purpose. Go play other games" would immediately be seen as the copout that it is and everyone would move on. Not jackoff to some ridiculous notion that this is some virtuous stance because a dev doesn't care how often you play their game. Because they already got your money, idiots! But you all let yourselves get gaslit into accepting the bare minimum and it's insane to me.
I mean 1k hours of content on the free trial doesn't seem like a lack of content to me, with 3k hours~ overall
May I ask what you litteraly mean by lack of content?
I've heard the complaints of some of Endealkers post content, but that was because the content that was provided was too casual focused - rather then a lack of content itself?
There is no new content. If you done everything from the previous Expansions, there is nothing.
why do people try hard their rotation when the game is gengerally against DPS meters. like who cares/knows what your DPS output is?
"a great MMO battle system" Wasn't this one of FFXIV's biggest issues? Compared to WOW the combat is more strict and slow.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that the community for FFXIV is one of the most toxic communities I have ever been a part of if not the most toxic. That is one thing, that new players should know before going into FFXIV.
Guys am coming to this game for the first time wish me luck
Have fun!
Is there any mmorpg's anyone would recommend to a new player of this genre of games? im talking about mmorpgs not just rpgs hahaa
Sadly its a a bit dead game. 2 years ago I started to play on Odin server. Every corner was tiiming with life and there were players everywhere in the starting area. 3 days ago I made a new character, for 3 days I played and saw only 1 other player the whole time.
THE ONLY downside to me is like.. no general chat , i have no friends and the party finder doesnt find me anyone ..
The log in bs alone made me get my money back. They tried to fight it sent my bank all the screen shots emails of constant password resets and unable to log in consistently. The worst login I've ever dealt with.
I started playing in 2021 right before the exodus. And since then i have consumed every piece of content the game has to offer.
I was only missing eureka which i finally completed a week ago.
So right now im trying to stay away from the game, because i really have nothing else to do. And and don’t want to burn out myself before dawntrail releases.
I'm guessing this is s lightly a hyberpobly because last I checked to complete the game it takes ~7 years.
Though I guess it's about what content you enjoy / consider content you'd do in the future
you underestimate the power of losers with nothing going on in their life@@BeanSandwiches
@jermu8706 ???
Whats the insult for??
@jermu8706 what I said was correct and I wasn't even arguing against the original point
Отличное видео. Продолжай в том же духе. С теплом из России!!!
Is there still a Monthly fee?
yes
@Elsinlock how much does it cost?
I tried playing it, but I prefer the active combat system of ff16
The story writing has been so lackluster in quality. It's starting to feel like out of touch corpo heads are writing it now. There's also the problem with healers being so mind-numbingly awful to play over and over again in midcore content. I just feel like it's only going to be worth it to buy the expansion, play for a bit, then dip out multiple patches later until you have a sizeable amount of content to work with. I would honestly suggest people to get Dragon's Dogma 2 or something like BG3 to get their money's worth at this point if they're returning players.
I mean in terms of pure story yeah bg3 takes the cake
Though I think the point of ff14 is it catersnto the mmo scene for story
@@BeanSandwiches I get that they have to account for long form storytelling, but it's hard to excuse that when they had great writing in HW and ShB. You can even see parts of EW that had excellent dialogues and scenes that were hampered by last minute editing due to the original intent being scrapped.
@bharbarawyrstwaemasyn8741 personally I think the endwalker expansions story worked quite well and was quite enjoyable, the only expansion which story didn't engage me was ARRs.
To each their own though
@@BeanSandwiches Oh, I feel you there on ARR. It was hard for me to get into the story until I was near the post-msq patches leading up to HW. Nothing wrong with liking EW. The story itself was decent, but it felt like such a plateau compared to the wonderful roller coaster that was ShB for me personally.
I just cant imagine skipping everything and only playing the raids for years on end... that woukd get boring so fast
I was subbed to this game for 10 years but it has lost me and I don't see it coming back. The community will never stand for a single syllable spoken out of line about the game's direction and it's having seriously detrimental effects. Until there's more end game content, like say something akin to WoW's M+, and the classes feel less homogeneous, dungeons are more than just a long straight line, etc.. I don't see myself returning, which would have been unthinkable to say 5-6 years ago but here we are.
As cool as this game seems and I love the final fantasy series but the monthly subscription is a deal breaker for me
Just think of it as having a meal outside every month.
I want to know if ff14 will be worth my time in 2026..
???
Hmm it's starting soon on Xbox too. And I fleed to Xbox to avoid wow... Now FF is here. Should I try it? Maybe I'll be lost in it and not on the bad way
Boyfriends playing it rn on xbox
(It's already available technically- for new players/accounts)
The game is pretty fun though as you might expect the controls are a bit hard to get over and the starting story isn't that great...
However those are the main issues and if you can get over that the rest of the story and game is well worth it
Its good. One thing i really hate is that its designed for just 1 character. I have friends on another data center than mine. So i have to replay all the BS even though im at the level to start the next expac. But noooo i gotta get f***ed and do it ALL. So freaking stupid man. Wish it was like WoW on that aspect where i can play the expacs i payed for when im at an appropriate level
This is mostly because the games more designed around one character.
They've been discussing data centre travel recently but are not sure on if they should do it because it could damage some of the cultures of different data centres. (Japan's etc)
Hey guys, my buddy just told me about ff14, it sound amazing to play. Sadly he told me its $60 at first and then $14 a month just to play. Is this true?
Forever it will be my favorite game. i will play it until the end
But you have to pay a fkn subscription fee monthly like $60. F that.
Its not.
Its a reading simulator not an MMO. The only reason it had so much players at one point is bc WoW sucked so bad people tried other mmos.
Its go to point A then B - then maybe C. What do you do in these points?? You read. You barely even do any combat while leveling 70% of it is reading/cutscenes.
Its in the complete opposite of the spectrum in gaming. It's all exposition after exposition.
I mean your talking about the msq which is one part of the game.
It's the main dealing point and the introduction / way content is introduced.
If story based content isn't for you thats fine, doesn't mean its bad. Your not the only person who plays mmos.
its a semi core experience has feel when looking and trading ok but what happends when at the end of the month and the pizza boy is getting ready with my food an its like he just going to stand outside for like 10 min waiting for me to go get it instead of knocking you know the diritive of mounts surpasaple and the drive to keep playing after i due obtain a 3 part quest in 30 secounds cause everyone might be kinda on it the the little bit of playing it within itself and knowing i can't try just the lack of and the content it might just persuade makes this a play just not a time to play the immersive might be there if your in some japans lap but the multitude of jus not having a sign in the game or something saying these lowers are planning a ground for this quest one day was a rpg attirbute and you made it into i guess a narritve of spells instead of a battle of heros that lack of 14years for a final fantasy game and not to kinda get a cantrip or a constitue free mount and 10 months free gametime for i dunno beating the game on some days drives teh game back and the 10 min i had to look to obtain the fre 10-month attribute and got there and couldn't just summon the whole time because the lancer has to get a free 10k damage off because his character makes bank and mine is support seems demi less of a game at all i don't wanna say a theme park but the attitude that you are trying this hard and the content isn't just like fire 6 and ice 9 drops the 2 sheilds and you get to attack in a narritive almost compacitor function that the game is thrilled not to just be beat by 700000 particles in game isn't a noritity for good looks its a stand still of wondering if i ever thought of this just sticking to my tv instead of that's cool i didn't wait 10 hours to get to level 10 he didn't wait the 3 days to get to 70 and it just so happends the mage has been more of just like support attack not just deliberated fun and juristicionaly helpful designed around jus hastling with more than like 10 spells in a game this big and showing off every piece of shiva's clothes through 30 chapters and some kid that died .. sounded funny but if every 10 min i have to go downtown to get my kid out japan's panties isn't that just like not even a game at all you mean that was in with the food''''''''' throw it all out
Took a hiatus from ff14 and even then, Yes, it's very worth playing. Especially if you love....Cat Girls. > ^_^
i like the game and i want to play it but its expensive for a country with trash economy and free version is boring actually i feel like im playing offline game instead of mmorpg
To be honest, the story of FFXIV is the biggest downside for me
I hate to be the "Savior of the whole world" but somehow I have to find the pencil that pepito lost into a desert.
The raids, dungeon and fights are what sold me on FFXIV
absolute best for pvp was patch 3.5, they killed it after that
The answer is absolutely not until DT.
Depends.
For long term players? Yeah.
New people checking out the game on trial?
You better get on now before the queues lock out free trial users
Every expansion is the same, nothing new with dawntrail either, the job system is so boring that there's no class identity with the exception with ninja and bard which still has their unique job mechanic.
Everything else plays the same way just with a different coat of paint. Its so boring and brain dead. Wake me up when they start to bring in something new.
The beast? Animal? Special class?
You mean like any other MMO? Hit skills and kill monster? Yeah maybe gaming isn't for you.
