@j.schmittler4905 I 100% agree with you there my friend. I think the new keyboard sounds, different bass tone, new drum style and different singing timbre have honestly made this an incredible feel good group to watch or listen to in the 2020s. The small venues is more conducive to the lack of star power, and Steve Howe was never one to actively want extreme fame. He has said time and time again such things as, "I just wanted to be like Chet Atkins and fiddle in the back of the band [...] If I have to take a leader role I will do so because the situation demands it!" I think the current mindset of the band is just to keep going. Just like Chris and Alan wanted them to, just like Tony and Bill give them permission to, just like Trevor Horn wants them to. There are far more people close to the YES world who are keen for the band to continue than not. As for the fandom, well I think they are attracted a new generation of fans with the new music and new members. I am certainly one of them, and I think their 3 live albums with participations from Alan, as well as their 2 studio albums have proved well enough that the band still has the soul and meaning it always had. The musicianship is not the only thing - the fact that these musicians are so unwavered in their commitment to it brings tears to my eyes weekly when I listen to them. The emotion behind the lineup we have now is why I listen to them, not whether or not Steve can play as well as he did at 27 as he can at 77. Hell, I hope he has a good 10 years left in him with the band, and I couldn't care less if they slow everything down even more!
I am a high school student in Japan and I love YES. I can't see the members who are already gone, such as Chris Squire, or Yes what it used to in person. But I am happy enough to see them live.♪🎸
Agreed 100%! I’ve seen Jon Anderson three times. The first two times were when he formed ARW with Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman, and then again last year with The Band Geeks. All three shows were amazing! That was more YES sounding than whatever this is. It’s NOT YES without Jon Anderson, and everyone knows it. Geoff Downes is no Rick Wakeman and should’ve stayed with Asia. This “YES” makes my heart sad and my ears bleed. Yes, i saw Yes live in 1973 at the University of Cincinnati Fieldhouse. Burned a doobie in Burnett Woods prior to the show. Great memories. This yes is a No.
I saw Yes live in 1973 at the San Diego Sports Arena and everyone was passing doobies around legally, they had their own security and the police couldn't come in. But if you went outside in the parking lot and had anything on you, the police were out there waiting for you.
Everyone of the guys on that stage is great and does a great job. I just do not get the same feelings from that first concert my parents took me to in 98 when I was only eight years old. I have to agree this is Steve Howe's Yes cover band doing a damn good job I have to add.
Maybe, but he isn't 'Yes'🤨. He needs to reunite with Anderson, Bruford, White, Wakeman, Rabin, or anyone left🤔?! Steve🤩 has turned the band into a bunch of 'session musicians whores'🤑!!
A band is something that grows naturally. You can't copy something like that, you can't do it with the Beatles, you can't do it with Queen and you can't do it with YES. If Keith Richard and other musicians tried to imitate the Stones, he too would fail. A rhythm section can be replaced like an engine in a car, the soul of a music group cannot be replaced.
Keith Richards can only play certain parts with the backing band playing the rest. They have all kinds of people playing behind the curtains and below the stage.
@@nickolaskentala9583 Keith Richards' phrasing is so unique that no one can copy it. There are individual skills like Mick Jagger's voice that you can't copy. Do a test with AL and try to have Mick Jagger sing "Love Me Do" by the Beatles - it won't work! Artificial intelligence also has natural limits, just like all of us. I'm 74 years old and to this day I play all of my music live and with the first take. I never repeat myself and no one can copy me.
I don't care whether this is Yes or whatever. All that matters is that Steve Howe is there to delight us. He is a fabulous guitar player!!! Enjoy him!!!!(and the rest of the band as well; of course I miss Alan, Rick, Jon and, above all, Chris... but, whatever name, whatever members, they still are great. Just my thoughts, huh??).
I forget exactly what year since I'm just slightly younger than these fella's but, I think it was about 1982 when I saw then at the L.A. Forum and I think it was the first time there was what they called a floating stage and it spun around in circles so everyone got to see the front of the stage.
No No noooo. With this line ups, no way this would be called YES. YES is over, finished, history if it would not be Jon Anderson and Bill Brufford in the band, c’mon man, they are the living legend who formed Yes. This is simply Steve Howe and Friends. So sad to see this.
Went to see Three Dog Night, Guess what fellows, We don’t live forever. Glad I got to see Gordon Lightfoot before he passed. He was 75. You won’t see 100% band members.
Es correcto... La inmortalidad de la música nada tiene que ver con la de los humanos., muchos no llegan a edad avanzada con el talento que los caracterizó. Así es la vida.
Yes today has 0% members from their beginnings, actually. Steve Howe joined in at their 3rd album. Their very first line-up have been Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Bill Bruford, Tony Kaye and Peter Banks (latter one who was replaced by Steve).
The critique against Howe is overblown. Squire and Alan Whife are dead. It’s not like Steve kicked them out. They were actively touring with Yes as recently as 2013, then Squire died. And Yes has been an ensemble band for fifty plus years now. Rabin, Tony Kaye, Bruford, etc. Downes was in the band back in 1980 for the Drama album which was fantastic.
Pretty decent live performance. Steve looks like death but plays alive! Saw them in Long Beach, CA circa 1978, ten feet from the stage. Steve had his "guitar tree" back then too!
I agree with all the rest of the comments. This is definitely NOT Yes ! Like others have said, this band should be touring as “ Steve Howe and Friends “ rather than Yes as they just don’t cut it. Most songs are played too slow and Davison’s vocals don’t hold a candle to Jon Anderson. Geoff Downes’ keyboards are plain amateurish. Sorry.
@@nickolaskentala9583 73 and I’ve followed Yes since their first album. Just expressing my opinion but not his incarnation of the band just doesn’t hold a candle to the originators.
Even Chris Squire (founder of Yes) had to call Jon Anderson in the beginning of the 80's so that he could name his new band with Trevor Rabin YES. Without Jon and/or Chris, no Yes. Nice cover though.
This isn't awful, actually, it's better than what i've heard some people saying, but still being just Steve with other musicians under the name Yes. Anyway, Steve and his bandmates did a good work
The band by necessity has to evolve. Yes, Jon Anderson's vocals cannot be replaced, and the same with Chris Squire's bass and vocals - and I will always miss both Bruford and White, and the string of previous keyboardists - and damn it, Peter Banks was brilliant during the band's opening salvo! Trevor Rabin saved the band when things looked bleak... All that said, this new incarnation is what it is, and that is 21st Century YES. I do wish Billy would be higher in the mix both with his bass and his vocals, and maybe pick up the tempo on some songs, but I am not in the band and it is their decision. They still perform wonderfully and I will continue to listen, groove, and learn from their music. And if Steve and Jon were to reconcile at some point I would be pretty darn happy....!
Although I think it's great that a band member of the great bands of the past reinvigorates the sounds we knew and loved, and with numerous member changes throughout it's history, the name of the band should not be the same as it once was, rather (in this case), it should be called: "The songs of YES featuring Steve Howe" or similar. It would set up a different vibe of expectation and honesty from those attending rather than sitting there and comparing rather than enjoying.
Let's face it , you can't replace the singer of some bands. This is one of them.
...or the bassist...or the drummer...or the keyboardist. For some -- too many, actually -- nostalgia is preferred to reality.
It is nt, … but‘s ok!
Agreed. Jon Anderson cannot be replaced.
The authentic YES died with Chris Squire.

I thought they were excellent. Obviously you won't see Bill, Jon, etc as they are retired, but great to see Steve Howe still going. Thank you.
Jon is not retired. Touring with Band Geeks and he still sounds amazing. ua-cam.com/video/xn-kFz5ibGA/v-deo.html
Bill might be retired, but not Jon.
great stuff seen em live just awesome to be there😎🤘
Everyone of the guys on that stage is great and does a great job. I just do not get the same feelings from that first concert my parents took me to in 98 when I was only eight years old. I have to agree this is Steve Howe's Yes cover band doing a damn good job I have to add.
Que gusto verles todavía les queda. Steve Howe y al tecladista
Ellos dos estaban con Asia y eran unos monstruos
Steve Howe is great
Maybe, but he isn't 'Yes'🤨. He needs to reunite with Anderson, Bruford, White, Wakeman, Rabin, or anyone left🤔?! Steve🤩 has turned the band into a bunch of 'session musicians whores'🤑!!
Un buen COVER con Steve Howe
Sounds good to me. Steve is as good as ever in 2024. Fair play to him !
are we THAT old? I guess so. Those guys are still pretty limber. I love it. Rovk and Roll forever
I'm going to see them this coming Friday in Glasgow 🎉
It's all just show Business. The show must go on. I stopped taking it seriously a long time ago
Howe , un genio viviente.
I saw the original yes en lima-peru in the 90s..... what a concert!!!
Steve still has his chops and delivers. Very nice performance.
The Stones don't play live they have a backing band .
I miss Wakeman and Anderson specially . They made the true sound of Yes. And Squire of course!!!
Steve is exceptionally admirable
Who's playing the "backward piano" as Howe plays the acoustic opening? Downes is just standing there.
That's just a sample, probably faded in by the engineer
Downes kicks it on with moog pedals. Watch his feet
Nice Tribute Band. Excellent cover.
Hardly a "tribute" band, Slick.
@@maxsdad538 Hey, "Slick" I see you up vote your own comments. How lame! LOL!!
The best Yes cover band ever
The problem is, that it's not!
Not the best !
I'll agree that they're basically a Yes cover band at this point. I won't agree that they're the best one.
No energy, terrible sound, bad stage and lighting, and overall it’s a karaoke clam bake.
Here in the US, Yes will be opening for Deep Purple this Summer. They will play for an hour, maybe.
Jon Anderson is YESSSSSS
Went to see Three Dog Night, Guess what fellows, We don’t live forever. Glad I got to see Gordon Lightfoot before he passed. He was 75. You won’t see 100% band members.
Es correcto... La inmortalidad de la música nada tiene que ver con la de los humanos., muchos no llegan a edad avanzada con el talento que los caracterizó. Así es la vida.
speaking of old bands, I saw Vanilla Fudge a few years ago and it was the original lineup.
@@rupe53 loved their song, you keep me hanging on…From there, don’t know a lot about them. Yes sir, they are an old band.
Yes today has 0% members from their beginnings, actually. Steve Howe joined in at their 3rd album.
Their very first line-up have been Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Bill Bruford, Tony Kaye and Peter Banks (latter one who was replaced by Steve).
@@FrankLang-i3n Thanks for the research….
The STEVE howe band
Steve Howe and friends
Yep;😁
Si les gusta YES vean "UNION TOUR" de 1991. Perfección...Con todos los integrantes que pasaron y tocaron en YES.
Not only has Jon Anderson got a new band but also Steve Howe!
Nice Tribute Band. BEST TRIBUTE BAND.
Only Steve Howe is from Yes.
That was great! I appreciate watching how it's done. Thanks so much!
Fabulous! 🌞
Not a “Yes”, but maybe a “MAYBE”🤷♂️??
Nice tribute band. This song doesn't sound the same without Rick Wakeman
Say what you will...but the people in the audience looked like they were lovin it..
Unfortunately for us children of the 70s most of our favorite bands are actually tribute bands with maybe 1 or 2 original members 😢
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 sensacional Yes
The critique against Howe is overblown. Squire and Alan Whife are dead. It’s not like Steve kicked them out. They were actively touring with Yes as recently as 2013, then Squire died. And Yes has been an ensemble band for fifty plus years now. Rabin, Tony Kaye, Bruford, etc. Downes was in the band back in 1980 for the Drama album which was fantastic.
Sounds good
Great job, sound and performance. Great Yes music, always.
I feel your pain, and I’m sorry.
There is no Yes without Chis Squire. It was his band.
素晴らしい。私はこれをYESと認められるかもしれません
Pretty decent live performance. Steve looks like death but plays alive! Saw them in Long Beach, CA circa 1978, ten feet from the stage. Steve had his "guitar tree" back then too!
Howe in good shape!
Sorry.
Your a fool
How old are you 7 ?
@@nickolaskentala9583 73 and I’ve followed Yes since their first album. Just expressing my opinion but not his incarnation of the band just doesn’t hold a candle to the originators.
this*
Since it's not your group, your opinion means nothing.
Even Chris Squire (founder of Yes) had to call Jon Anderson in the beginning of the 80's so that he could name his new band with Trevor Rabin YES. Without Jon and/or Chris, no Yes. Nice cover though.
Maravilhoso, obra prima
Hey Billy!
You must get really good at playing a song after playing it Ten Thousand times! 999 times, no. But Ten Thousand, that's the magic number.
Steve's still got it!
