Fav part: “I hate blues licks through distortion and overdrive” 😂
My favorite part is that he didnt really show us any of his own junk.
Mike Wright fact!😂
Favorite part: Realizing that this internationally-known bass guru with decades of experience playing with some truly great and famous musicians drives a Honda.
And cant ride a bike.... too soon?
Favorite part: He's driving a Honda Element. The ultimate gig vehicle.
The part where Jack from Future Music gives us insightful commentary on ignoring other people’s opinions on pedals and being open minded about what you want is great... definitely one of the biggest takeaways from this video
Dropped in last year at FM and found a dead horse overdrive. love that thing and its all because of Jack.
Favorite part: “I hate blues licks through distortion and overdrive.” I’m glad P&E exists for such a noble and worthy cause
I was so happy he said that. I hate them too. 90% of guitar content is people noodling blues licks all day.
No blues is good blues.
@@RhombusZero LMFAO who gets that butthurt about UA-cam comments? And no I won't agree with you, I'm sick of the overabundance of dudes recording themselves online blues licking all day. STFU and go cry somewhere else 😂. And no one said anything about the while lineage of rock and roll.
This is the social life killer environment.
HARwinsOUTagain
Yeah, it's just like all the guys doing ambient, or djenty metal, or just metal in general.
It's sucks to have a style, doesn't it?
Favorite part: “It’s not Guitar Center, we’re not supposed to be open right on time!” 😂😂👍
My favourite part: Juans constant positivity and enthusiasm with sound and gear.
Best part easily is Juan with a pedal in his back pocket. Always packing some heat.
My favorite part is Juan showing his fender fretless saying he'd play through it which didn't happen.
大串龍志郎 I'm pretty sure this is just part one.
Lol def the best part.
"This is the… social life killer".
When you expect just a tour of Juans place but also get a look into Cortinis home studio complete with a Buchla! Definitely fav part.
Without reading everyone else’s comments, the obvious takeaway from this video is the quote around 3:40 from Jack of Future Music: “To have a closed mind in this is absolutely the stupidest thing you can do, because YOU have to make up your mind about what’s great.”
The bonus is that it’s not just appropriate for gear, it’s a great life philosophy!
... great idea for a contest EQD!
Alessandro sitting in the dark playing Splatterhouse was fitting.
The part when Nick shows up and has no idea what's going on for a second but then stops caring entirely and acts like a little kid with a new toy when Juan gives him the pedal is just gold
My favorite part was Juan talking about buying pedals and experimenting with them back in the day while at Future music. It's super relatable to my music journey over the last two years. Everyone says bassists shouldn't use effects and I often get scoffed at at shows when I have a full pedal board but I don't care. Lol
Honorable mention for the Grunge shout out. First distortion pedal I ever owned and I fell in love with it. Great pedal for guitar or bass.
I love the part where Nick just shows up while they're filming, and they just roll with it!
Favorite part: when they’re talking about the “close-mindedness” of guitar pedals. So many pedals get snubbed in the world because of the name or the look. And it sucks cause there’s so many great pedals out there in the world.
My favourite part is when Alessandro hits the big thingy to show us the spring and the spring is like 'towwwwwwww'
I liked the happy-yet-slightly-confused look on Nick’s face as he wandered in on everyone jamming in front of a camera crew.
My favorite part was the car ride in the beginning... Went from jamming out some tunes all stoked, to pissed off road rage, blasting the horn. That's what life is all about, ups and downs. Cheers!
Favorite part: Pedal shopping, love people getting excited by pedals, and Juan and Jack's approach to pedal shopping, the almost hippie minded way and approach is inspiring and will definitely in print on how I will go about buying pedals. Also pedal in the back pocket, 10/10. And also the jam with Tim Lefebvre and Rachel Eckroth. Dammit, this video has too many good parts. Anyone who says that they only have a single favorite part is lying to themselves, every part of this maddeningly awesome. I don't even care if I win the pedals, this just fucking awesome.
Definitely enjoyed the look on Nick’s face when he showed up and wasn’t expecting the camera crew
My favorite part is when Bruce Willis finds out he’s been a ghost a whole time
Favorite part: “This is just Van Halen but there is one rouge Vince Neil for some reason”
Favorite part: "This is literally how I do it, every freakin' day"
Sounds like a wonderful job. Makes me happy that people like Juan are out there constantly and blissfully neck deep in the pedal game.
My favorite part is being able to have internet to watch all of the ‘Show us your Junk’ Series.. but I already did.
I don't know how you guys run one of the best pedal companies out there, but also one of the best studio tour youtube channels. Anyway, I loved seeing people making noise in Juan's studio and having Nick show up unexpectedly. He's got the kind of fun, talented, open minded friends that every musician dreams about having. I loved the sounds Jamie was getting from that Ibanez delay too. I miss when those were dirt cheap - some of my first pedals were from that series.
man, nothin like relieving the built up stress of a crappy day like getting dark and dirty with your guitar rig.
Favorite part was when the owner of future music talks about keeping an open mind towards pedals and not jumping to conclusions. Good to keep in mind with everything
Came here for GENIUS Mr. Alessandro Cortini, hands up.
My favourite part is seeing the community around creating crazy sounds across the world and the different music people are able to share with each other :)
good vibes!
My favorite part was the cat dropping the knowledge on pedals. “grunge doesn’t mean you play grunge.” Made me rethink some biases
I was totally blown away when I saw the studio of Alessandro Cortini. It's like when you enter heaven
My favorite part was when Juan and Jack were talking about going in to using pedals with an open mind and not jumping to conclusions beforehand. I really wish that I had this mentality going into things when I was younger at the beginning of my playing days and I feel I could be a lot more ahead of where I am now with how I utilize pedals and effects.
My favourite part is Juan positive vibe, He looks happy doing what he do, it’s encouraging!
Totally!
Anyone devoted to making demos that are more than "muh blues riffs" deserves a medal for heroism and outstanding public service
Fav part is Juan himself. Was lucky enough to hang & have dinner with him when he was on tour with Deltron in Adelaide. Sat with for over 3 hours talking music, gear, Volta & being on tour. He was & is one of not only the nicest, but most generous people i’ve met. One of my my most cherised encounters with musicians that I look up to.
Favourite part: 'Eleven-ish to seven-ish'.
Fave part is when store owner talks about not being scared away by pedal names...so very true...i utilize a Metal Muff on board but don't play metal at all 🎸🎸🎸
Favorite Part- when Juan is waiting at the door and Alessandro is just playing his good ol’ viddies
Favorite part: “just because a pedal says metal on it doesn’t mean you’re shredding, it’s stupid” every pedal has potentials to unlock different sounds.
I liked when they went to Alessandro’s house and showed off his “social-life killer” synth/studio room
This whole series is my favorite part! You guys killed it this year
thanks man, glad you are digging it
Favorite part was hearing Jack from Future Music wax poetic about what to look for in a pedal. I love hearing the perspective and advice of these wise old folks that have seen and played every piece of gear there is. "To have a closed mind is the stupidest thing you can do..."
Favorite part: Juan keeping a whole pedal in his back pocket, I like his style
Favorite part: interrupting Alessandro playing video games to see all that modular. But also Future Sound and the P&E shop where the videos are done. "There's a rogue Vince Neil, but the rest are Van Halen pins."
"I'll just leave that running for a few days.." Alessandro, you madman.
Favorite part: His appreciation for his guests and Nick Reinhardt. Seems very genuine about how much respect he has for them and what they offer
Favorite part: The fact that Nick's reaction is the same reaction when I get a new pedal.
Omg the DOD Grunge pedal was the shit. I remember falling in love with it, hah but then I played the True Tone red Jekyll and Hyde pedal and it was over!
My favourite bit was them playing with stuff in the guitar shop. I always love music shops
The fact he’s driving a Honda Element is definitely the best part of this video. Those cars will run even after the apocalypse, I love them to death.
My favourite part: seeing Juan unlock the door outside to 5star sound labs.... just nice to put that demo room into context!
Favorite part:
"Why am I even wearing these glasses?! 🤔"
"Ahh... Those are fly!"
Favorite part? Alessandro's VH pins collection! I love them both.
My favorite is when you guys enter the studio with all this gear. This is THE man cave!
Favorite part: Owner of Future Music is spot on about keeping an open mind. That looks like the kind of shop I could get happily lost in.
My fav: Cortini gets that drum sequence going. I can just here Trent whisper singing over it. 11:20
i didn't realize pedals and effects was based in Highland Park and I've lived here my whole life, really cool to see that! by far my favorite part of the video
The part that spoke to me is when they talked about how you have to have an open mind - don't write stuff off because it's not seen as "cool". Be true to yourself and like what you like.
My favorite part was the Alessandro's studio. It's so crazy.
If i had a room like him i would say goodbye to my social life and
be there shut-in hallucinating all day.
Say no to drugs, say yes to synths.
Cool video eqd!
Great advice from the guitar shop owner, and hilarious accidental Nick Reinhart cameo. I would have definitely watched more of this! Excited to check out the others in this series (which I didn't know existed till now)
Love Juantent. I watch so much Pedals and effects.
Love when he validated that I think Weezer has good fuzz tone.
This is the greatest when Juan says in pedal store " like a candyshop" totally true feeling when a came to music store
Did anybody else notice that quick shot of a Buchla Synth at Allesandro Cortini's? Wow, amazing synth collection.
Alessandro steals the show every god dam time lol Love that guy.
Juan is one of my favorites. Such a cool guy.
Greta video, as always.
Thank you!
Any footage of Alessandro and his many toys is the best part
Favorite part is definitely "This is the social life killer room". Second favorite is the discussion about keeping an open mind and relying on your experience when it comes to pedals - nevermind what they say on them. Love that! More of that mentality should be applied to music!!!!
I like that a video made me look up the L.A. Metal pedal.
it's pretty much a RAT.
the part when Jack the owner says that you have to make up your mind about what's great, that you don't have to judge a pedal by its name or others opinions
“Just ‘cause a pedal says metal doesn’t mean you’re shredding.” Love that encouragement to look beyond the intended purpose of an effect, and see a world of possibilities.
Love when Nick Reinhart just pops by randomly
Favorite part has to be exploring Alessandro Cortini’s “Social Life Killer” synth cave !! 🎛🚀
The nine inch nails set up is wild. Like how, what when where is up with all the effects processors. I wouldn’t even know where to start.
The best part is where he visited Alessandro. This is like a 2 for 1 special. Awesome!
I also like how Juan never really shows his junk. Just takes you a bunch of places. This is probably my favorite episode.
I need more of that Tim Lefebvre footage...
I completely agree with jack that having a closed mind about this- and anything musically related in general-is crazy.
I'm from LA so those scenes of driving through that sun-baked sprawl make me nostalgic. That's my favorite part. Though touring Alessandro's apartment is a close second. Just incredible.
I love Pedals and Effects and have been watching for years. Juan and Nick have made it an international treasure.
Favorite part: The look of pure joy on Juan's face when he looks at all those vintage pedals 😍
Wish there was more time with Tim Lefebvre. That guy makes the great sounds...
Yes, he does! And he uses those sounds in a Blues/Rock (Rock/Blues?) setting with Tedeshi Trucks Band...
8:55 alessandro cortini!
Fav part, PEDAL SHOPPING and realizing how close that shop is to where I live!
Well my favorite part was when Nick steps in and he's kind of confused but then Juan gives him the pedal and you can clearly see the surprise on his eyeres and a smile coming to his face but he's playing it cool like he's not impressed or whatever. And I've noticed in some pedalsandeffects videos that they have like a subtle Ernie and Bert thing going on, but they clearly have a lot of respect and love for each other, and you can see it on that part. One of the most charismatic youtube couples.
My favorite part is Juan's Julio Cesar Chavez jacket.
💪🏽
Esto también!!!!
A bit of a let down in this otherwise excellent series - this could've been much, much longer - Juan himself has tons of weird and outlandish gear, the shop also seems quite up there, and, not to mention Cortini who lives musically on another dimension - each segment could have been a video in its own right - what we get is just these snippets, very short clips, not even scratching the surface. Don't get me wrong - great stuff - but this could have been epic. The very short length was a bit of a bummer.
"The very short length was a bit of a bummer."
That's what she said 😕
My favorite part is when i see so much analog part for music and then he sad “ this is the social life killer” i think that was amazing
I have a few parts that I really enjoyed. My favorite was that Juan checked to see if he had the pedal in his back pocket but not to see if his car was locked( I an sure he did off camera). I also enjoyed that he showed his favorite place to get pedals. The origin story of how pedal and effects started was pretty because I love the UA-cam content he has. Thank you!
The best part was seeing what Juan looked like when he started music in 1906.
1906? Man, he's really aged well.
I like when jack says that having a closed mind in all this (pedals and effects) is one of the stupidest things you can do...earthquacker seems to know how to keep an open mind!! Cheers.
even if it is only the size of a duck's brain.
giving someone a pedal/peace of gear is such a genuine thing to do. That's the best part for sure. And getting something or giving something away, the feeling is always awesome
Favorite part: 11:57 a lego Millenium Falcon, Fallout Boy, Gordon Freeman and Alyx Vance with gravity gun... and more to love.
Favorite part: "This is the social life killer" XD remember me of the weekends practicing and missing all the parties :'/
Alan Almantí jajaja
Alessandro Cortini playing video games!
Favourite part was the dude at the end with all the synths and sequencers, squelchy-squilchy-white-noise-heaven!
The part when Nick comes in all bewildered is the best
My favorite part: "this is just van halen. There is one rogue vince neil for some reason but this is just van halen pins"
My favorite part was when he criticised the "blues licks through an overdrive pedal", same
Love the part when Nick comes in into the studio and love his face at that moment :)
That mid-70’s dongle machine was overwhelmingly cool. That grimey / lo-fi delay spoke to me! Wish I could get that entire machine in a pedal or two 😂
