Live at MONO HQ: Juan Alderete x Isaiah Mitchell - Improv 1

- The first time meeting of Juan Alderete and Isaiah Mitchell.
Most often it takes several instances of meeting back stage at a show or crossing paths elsewhere before two touring musicians can finally align their schedules to find a time and place to play music together for the first time. In this case the first time meeting and playing happened at the same time. The energy of the unknown can be a beautiful thing.

I love you, Juan. Hope he heals up beautifully.
This is what I always hope will happen when I go to a jam night. Not all ears are ready for it but I love it.
Hell yeah
Juan, you're probably one of the realest people on earth. So kind, even when the cameras aren't on, taking time to chat with each and every last fan after the show. 12a.m. Saturday night, in the gnarly sketch city of St. Louis Missouri of all places. God bless and stay on the road to recovery. We love you
Juan is just amazing!
That is really cool. I really like first of all how much space there seems to be in the sound but also the way in which Juan is playing. Sure it is simple but it works so well in the context it is in.
I had to revisit this one, remembering that I had seen this sometime in the past. Totally cool to listen to Juan's movement within the groove. Chord tones in the higher register are killer. Hope your are still making forward progress in your healing my Brother-O-Bass. Much Love to ya Juan!
two of my favorite people, here, now
you must know very few people
How come I've never seen this?? Two of my favorites!
It's a sin to not let Juan take the lead...
Not taking any credits from Juan's curriculum in music, you should listen to some Earthless ... and mostly watch them perform.
just add Juan and his pedalboard to Earthless and just call it Earthlesser
el mantuvo el liderazgo en todo el asunto. Abre los oídos
Haha some of these comments have to be trolling like "While it wasn't inaudible it did suck" "sounds like what I did when I first picked it up? That's hilarious Juan was melting faces when you were in diapers lol. I don't see you with an awesome Earthquaker demo board, traveling all around the world to show their awesomeness. Learn some dynamics as well as humility.
Love it!
I play that harmonic loop every day on fretless
Awsome!!
Thats the pedal board of doom from hell
fucking sick!! very Gilmour esq
Does anyone know the brand of the pedslboard?
he is carrying a demo board for earthquaker pedals
Reminds me of Dead Man soundtrack by Neil Young
…with the middle section of Pink Floyd’s “Echoes” thrown in, a little.
pedal board is probably heavier than his bass amp/cab rofl
some drummer get this recording and lay a track down
+John Wamos On it capt'n.
Cooo"L !!!!!
7:50 music to cross a bridge,
That's a pedalboard hahah
This is 4 years old now??
UA-cam, you gotta get this stuff in my queue sooner!
I watch a million Mars Volta videos, and I write comments to bass players like RJ Ronquillo _en castellano_ all the time, and occasionally I’ll get recommended videos of awesome music by good bass players from my other home continent cued up in my queue … like one video out of every 100 … and it’ll be four years old!!
But I watch _one_ Jordan Peterson video, _once,_ to see whether he sucks as badly as he seems to suck, and I comment beneath it that he does suck because it turns out that he _does_ suck, just as much as he _seems_ to suck, and I outline in my comment all the _ways_ that he sucks - practicing pseudoscience, misusing Aristotelian terms in order to sound smarter, presenting his groundless biases as baseline reality and his unsupported opinions as fact, and so on - and his little minions get their fedoras all in a bunch, and write their ad hominem remarks back at me … and you _fill_ my queue with Jordan Peterson videos, and with all the other horses**t that goes with him: Moon landing denial videos, flat Earth videos, “Electric Universe” kooks pushing luminiferous æther, racists’ videos (although they want to be called “racialists?” lol!) defending debunked “Intelligence Quotient” measurements, climate change denial videos … what the holy f**k??
Something is seriously wrong with your algorithm, UA-cam!! MORE Juan Alderete for me, please … in fact, nothing but sick music and fire bass players up in my queue, all of the time … and no more edgelord Jordan Peterson man-children regurgitating warmed-over John Birch Society talking points, please!
I identify with this so strongly. This is the first time this has ever been suggested to me…nearly a decade after it was filmed. But I seemingly can’t escape the endless videos of Ben Shapiro either A) decrying cancel culture or B) declaring that something needs to be cancelled in my suggested videos. And honestly, I truly don’t think I have ever clicked on a video of him. I see far too much of the munchkin without wanting to.
The evil grows and grows... watch it grow and build.
Hopefully he had his 359 pedals to assure a great bass sound 😃
It's great to just watch a 9 minute video of some guy playing guitar while you watch Juan fiddle around. You can't fucking hear anything Juan is doing haha. Which further supports my theory that 99% of all bassists are simply fucking inaudible. If I have to strain my ass off to hear a single bass note within a plethora of furies of guitar notes, then something isn't right.
Yeah, your headphones aren't right. I can hear everything Juan's doing perfectly fine. Get some better headphones before critiquing what you can't hear.
What the fuck are you talking about?
Yeah what the actual fuck are you talkin about, genius? I'm not using headphones.
Let's hear what you play then :) (if you're saying Juan Alderete sucks, then I wannna hear you play:)
Exactly! how can you comment on music without even listened in headphones?
Biggest board just to play a simple rift.
Is that a super sonic guitar amp??
