Now all Pirats are in place in this show and the "Build up" is finished and the "Endgame" of the whole "Black Sails" story finally now begins with Season 3...when you think the story was "epic" till now (which it was) then look forward for what now it is going to become...What is the superlative of "epic"?
Edart Teach {Blackbeard} was a Pirat in real life. The most famous and feared. In fact, his reputation was worse than himself. He never had to take a life up to a certain point. He was so feared by his reputation that other ships voluntarily gave him everything. Google it. And also the other pirates of this show. Very interesting.

When I saw this for the first time and he mentioned his name Teach I immediately yelled Blackbeard! Baddest Badass on the planet at the time. Even other pirates were scared of him.
One of the best intros to a character ever, Teach has arrived. Looking forward to Flint doing great violence. So pumped for this season, as Vane said they are sitting on Spain’s gold, on England’s island..chaos is about to ensue.

They both do horrible things despite wanting to do good. And they're both such well written characters, that it's easy to forget that they're villains.
If you go all the way back to S2E1 Miranda tells Eleanor something like: "Every man has his demons, you perceive the effect of Flints but I know what they are and I was there when they were created. Within his chorus of torments none of them look or sound like me." Now the death of Miranda is literally haunting and tormenting Flint.
After "Black Sails", I would like to recommend Nikki & Steven react to "Peaky Blinders". I had never watched it until recently, and holy bananas. It is SO narratively dense. Each season is only 6 episodes, but it feels longer than some shows with 10-20 episodes per season. And the soundtrack absolutely SLAPS. It's good stuff.
Flint, Silver and Vane all look so badass this season. I forgot both Teach and Woods are introduced in the first episode, can't wait. Your reactions are definitely reminding me why i loved this show.
I (and many fans) completely agree. My theory is that there were a few key factors it didn't do as well as it should have. 1. This show aired from 2014-2017, right when Game of Thrones was at its peak. 2. Pirates of the Caribbean had come and gone. Audiences were a bit burnt out on the pirate genre. 3. It was (is) on a network that is widely unknown, especially to western audiences.
I always think that if it had been a big hit at the time, they may have tried to drag it out for more seasons, and that would have ruined it. It’s 4 perfect seasons. And it’s always a nice treat when someone new finds it.

I love this season because, in vaguest terms, everyone is doing things and also giving you clear explanations of why they are doing it (with one BIG exception). It’s a big season about many things but purpose and origins is such a strong theme. Also this is such a distinctly chaptered season. I haven’t watched this show in full in just over a year and I can still say what happens in every episode.

You ask how much treasure they have... just to put it in perspective a few years ago a Spanish treasure galleon was found in the Caribbean sea, sunk around 1700 with a treasure haul estimated upto $17 billion
Funny that you mensioned that the pirates have one Spanish warship. I love how that one ship made such an impression. You'd think that they are invincible with a ship like that. And then a chill runs down your spine as you realize that the English, the French, the Spanish, the Dutch and all the other naval powers have a navy. a navy with dozens and dozen of those ships and thousands of sailors to man them. In the grand scheme of things, the pirates dont stand a chance.
The Lost Pirate Kingdom (on Netflix) which is a must watch AFTER Black Sails finale, tells a small fact about Teech that is quite contradictory to his portrayal on this show.
I wanted more of "ninja Flint" in that epic one shot!! I'm glad he cut his hair, that tiny ponytail always bugged me in S2 But Season 3 hype!! Such a great premier.....but these next 2 episodes are something else

Vane doesn't see Jack as his Capt LOL Jack just gets info from his working girls about which ships have worthy prizes on board and passes along to Vane which ones are worth getting. Jack is overseeing the island. Vane is out doing the piracy. Flint is raging and pillaging, handing out the terror and pirate justice all over the land. Jack only has what Flint and Vane have allowed him to have and govern.

Of course Flint and Vane could try and govern the island, but they’d hate it, as we’ve seen with Vane in the Fort. And there would probably be uprisings against their dictatorish rule, as we’ve seen a few times with Flints crew. They need to find the happy medium between Nice Guy Jack and Do What I Say or You Die Flint lol

Fun fact: To this day, nobody is able to confirm what Blackbeard's real name actually is. He's gone by several names to hide his own, noticeably Edward Drummond, Edward Thatch and Edward Teach. But the most iconic of all his monikers was Blackbeard.

Edward Teach is probably the most infamous pirate of ALL TIME.. BLACKBEARD (sure others have spoiled it).. I remember when I first saw the episode and I heard his name, I was SO hyped.
A lot of set up in this episode, just done really well.
Teach is the real life pirate black beard. Friend/father figure to vane , woods Rogers or lord Rogers is another real historical figure. Very famous anti pirate figure.

I didn’t know who Teach was. It’s not something everyone grows up knowing. I knew nothing about pirates but I had heard about Blackbeard’s ghost…no idea about someone named “Teach”.
