I was lucky, I lived in the generation that had the best rock and roll bands ever and saw them all. Needless to say I am very old now. Keep on posting, you put a smile on an old woman’s face.
You are so adorable with your videos, Golden child, so genuine and honest. I love your comments, you express how I feel! Keep it up 😂it's great to watch your face and expressions
I seen them live, twice. Of course I'm 73, but there were so many great band's and guitarist's in my time , it's really unbelievable. We did in our generation have the very best music that's ever been played, and I heard it all.
I grew up with this beautiful bands thankx to my beautiful dad. He said whenever he play his music, he felt so alive is like a lightning striking your soul 🤍 and is so true. He still enjoying at 70 yo, he doesn't speak English, but was more about the magic in all this glorious bands ❤
I agree and Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Santana were all great Masters of guitar with their own style. For me, it will always be JP!
He was born to play like that. Even with all the practicing in the world. 99% of the world's population could not come close to.playing like he did. He was a freak of nature. One of the best of all time.
He just casually tapped, walked through the entire pentatonic scales at lightning speed, turned a Baroque riff, and brought it back to his own blend of hard rock on the verge of metal in a matter of seconds. Just because he could and all the while using the instrument that was an extension of himself, expressing every innermost thought and feeling he had.
The late, great Eddie VanHalen, IMO is the best guitarist who every played because he played from his soul. Not knowing how to read music, he would pick up his guitar and just let it rip. He was one with his guitar and created music and styles of playing that no other knows. He's created different guitars with different sounds. RIP Eddie. You are rockin' heaven right now!
Dude eddie van haken was a classically-trained musician and you know his parents migrated over here from Germany I wish there was some way to tell this guy to play other Van Halen songs ever really great so he can discover how good of a musician he really was lie to me Eddie Van Halen was the modern-day Mozart but he reinvented he changed the game after that we had a ton of 80s bands I don't know if you were old enough to remember this I had cousins over team so you know and I my father was a big Ben heinous and because they were for my what they were first album come out 78 I-77 my father will be able to tell you more because he'll he that song I'll wait a lot of people don't know what it's about but I know exactly what it's about it's about Norma Jean Baker AKA Marilyn Monroe fantasy and you don't imagine Eddie the boy had a big crush on her I know I did I still do
@@LeeThompson-cm8nh Eddie came to the U.S. from Amsterdam, not Germany. He was classically trained on the piano. He is self taught on the guitar and because he couldn't read music, he used his imagination and what felt right when learning to play the guitar. That's why he plays differently (like tapping) that a lot of other guitarists don't do. I am sure his classical piano training background helped him become IMO the best guitarist to date.
He was self taught and his playing was so advanced compared to everyone else that they had to create a completely different way of writing music after he came onto the music scene in the late 70's. Jimi Hendricks created the mold of the great guitarist but when Eddie came along he completely destroyed everything everything that people thought was a great guitarist. Eddie is and will always be the GOAT when it comes to the guitar!!!
Just discovered your channel and love it! I am 63 and grew up with the music you feature. Great to see younger generations realize that there has always great music to be discovered. Check out some of the southern rock bands. Mix of county and blues with some great guitarist.
Eddie did say in an interview he did not remember these solos because he was drunk, they recorded 2 shows over 2 nights, if you notice in the beginning he throws his cig down then next scene it's back in his guitar.
Man, welcome in 70's rock'nroll music...Creativity, virtuosity ant pleasure to play together....I'm so happy for you, you can hearing all these groups for the first time. And you don't vorget these stars for all your life (excuse my approximative english, i speak french)
@jimmyraidjames I thought the same at first. After watching it again, I saw more signs, especially at the beginning. I wouldn't have looked as closely if he hadn't said it in an interview, though. He definitely could have just said he didn't remember because of the number of shows he performed. I would have believed it.
It is so fun to watch peoples facial expressions as there brain tries to process it all . Eddie was the first at many new things and a true legend and KING of the hammer ons . I was lucky enough to catch Van Halen twice live in the 80,s and they were SO good ! Just awesome to see younger generations discover this man and his many talents .. RIP Eddie you will be missed Sir ! Great reaction !
So cool a young person like yourself are digging this 70's stuff. I was so lucky to be a teen in the 70's, and in my 20's in the 80's,.. damn! You had to be there! And Eddie is one of the most innovative guitar plays of our time. I saw Van Halen for the very first time on their national tour in 1978 at a Summer Jam. They were the first band playing and we here in the Midwest didn't have a clue who they were. WoW,.. I have to tell you. I don't even remember who was headling that show that day in KC. We had binoculars. My girlfriend and I were like OMG David Lee Roth and then there was this guitar player that just blew every one of us away! Monday morning I went to the record store and bought their 1 record,.. yea,.. I have this one vinyl. I've never missed a Van Halen show in my city till they kicked Dave out of the band. Dig It Man! LOL
A suggestion Tommy Bolin,.. He was a solo artist. He was in a lot of band, some you may have heard of? Games Gang, Deep Purple( replacing Ritchie Blackmore and only recording 1 album, "Come Taste The Band" A Purple album like no other and it's all because of Tommy. Tommy meet a tragic death at the age of 25 from a drug overdose. A beautiful, talented artist. Played almost every instrument on both his solo albums. Check his work out. So much good stuff.
Here are some groups I've seen personally in concert. Robin Trower song bridge of sighs, Deep Purple song Burn, Thin Lizzy Jailbreak, Steve Ray Vaughan Voodoo child. I grew up in the 60's and 70's awesome era.
If you want to see another display of practically impossible mastery of their instrument, watch Tool Pnuema Drum Cam to see one of the best drummers who's ever lived. Also, FYI, Eddie Van Halen walked in to Michael Jackson's studio and ripped off the guitar for Michal in Beat It, didn't even want any money for it. Another great performance by Eddie.
The Mozart of guitar. Edward Van Halen. Brother Alex on drums. He was originally trained as a pianist. Tapping on guitar even re designed his own line. Brilliant, RIP Edward. Check out his sin Wolfgang, Mammoth WVH. Awesome
I’m sorry you were given a Sammy Van Halen (Hay-lyn) but this is a great solo live.. look up W/ David Lee Roth. 👍 And your reaction to Whole Lotta Love is beautiful .. 💜
I worked with a guy who was a cousin of Mike Anthony and he said he used to go to there backyard party concerts in Pasadena before they went big….said they were insanely great
After seeing several of your reaction videos I really wonder what you would think of some of the other super groups from the 70's and 80's. Pure, unadulterated musicianship on the cutting edge of music with their respective groups and instruments without "digital" help from autotunes and AI. You need to lock yourself up with some more of EVH for sure and more Led Zepplin, Yes, Styx, Pink Floyd, and so many more. I think you need to try out Roundabout from Yes next, or Suite Madame Blue from Styx to get a feel for what music's masters were doing. Picking up a guitar and learning to play wouldn't be a bad thing either to gain an idea of what it takes to do any of it. Keep listening.... the more you hear the masters, the more your music appreciation will grow!
Best comment! I hope he explores your suggestions. Wish I had time to write a list. SO many more masterful songs! I’d love to see his reactions. So genuine.
Another one would be AC/DC- Whole Lot of Rosie, For Those About to Rock… man there are so many good old bands it’s hard to list them all! Oh! Peter Frampton - Do You Feel like We Do! Judas Priest ! The list is very long from the 60s, 70s and 80s!
GoldenChildRy, Dude you have an awesome personality and open yourself up to enjoy things that were recorded way before your time. Hope you continue to jam.
It takes years and years (and years--and even with that, not everyone is physically capable of doing it) to be able to play like that, but then the technique is only part of it--you have learn enough music theory and understand how to fit into a song with proper phrasing to be able to add (instead of distract) from the song. You need to be able to play what you hear in your head and immediately when it is needed in the song.
You need to pull the LP version, love. It' how we all experienced it. Live tends to have improvisation, and it's great, but the original is barely beaten. Check out Pink Floyd PULSE Live from Earl's Court on here, specifically - "One Of These Days" That is a rare instance of the Live version blowing the original away. I saw them twice on that tour, and it was insane. His brother is the drummer, Alex. In all fairness, Eddie Van Halen and Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) were natural talent, freaks of nature. Sliding up and down the strings the distance between the chords being struck and held changes the sound/tone/pitch.
Let me see if I get this straight now, In the beginning the bothers Van Halen was actually backwards, Eddie took up the drums and his brother Alex took up guitar one day and they tried there hand at making music for awhile with no success so they switched it up and Eddie took up the guitar and Alex the drums and eventually found the lead singer David Lee Roth and a Bass player, They started hitting the clubs in L.A and I believe, Gene Simmons from KIss saw them one night and invested some time and money into them for a "Demo" record and the "The rest is Rock history" Here's a little unfortunate history on Eddie's death. He used to use metallic guitar picks when playing, he would throw picks into the audience thru out the shows, he would keep his extra ones in his mouth, he ended up dying from tongue cancer, it's not that hard to figure out what happened. This is all I know about it.
Eddie van halen was classically-trained magician and the drummer of this band brother Alex Van Halen and their parents migrated over here from Germany they were formed in New York City started out in the seventies but they didn't get your break till like what was it 78 but what happened was how they got discovered was because Gina Simmons band Kiss had a nightclub and they were playing their one night and then he was there so he financed the first album
Hey man I just came across your reaction to LED ZEPPELINs whole lotta love. Clearly you were feeling it. My man I want you to PLEASE give a listen to ACHILLES LAST STAND. It's long and powerful. Simply Mind bending!!!!!!!!!!!
There is actually nobody in the world who can play like Eddie. As a child he played classical music on a piano. The method eddie uses is called tapping. He taps notes multiple times while the note is playing.
Mr Eddie Van Halen, is the best imo….. he’s the man behind that Billie Jean solo, he’s the master behind most amazing solos and riffs and everythings…… I love love love Eddie; RIP
ANIMALS - house rising sun LYNARD SKYNARD - free bird (second half goes HARD) BLACK SABBATH - war pigs more mellow NEIL YOUNG - old man PINK FLOYD - time
It pays to keep in mind when you're watching this how loud this actually was live. I saw them on this tour. I mean it's still extremely impressive, but it loses a little effect and intensity just hearing it like this and not literally feeling it. Plus to get the clarity and detail at that volume was impressive, both in terms of the playing and the sound engineering. Eddie was a big tone guy, always innovating and tweaking his amps and pickups for better sound.
Check out Michael jackdon's 'Beat it' vid. Theres a guitar solo in it. We didnt know bsck then but turns out Eddie V H did it for free. It MADE that song! No one ever played like EVH. He made that guitar. Plays it like a keyboard.
Every fret along the neck of the guitar gives a different tone. As the guitarist holds the strings along the neck, making chords or playing individual strings, as Eddie Van Halen is doing here, you get different sounds. Also each string is tuned to a certain music note, and the super high pitched one is the high E string. Everyone likes to make that wail.
New sub here! Found you because of your reaction to some Led Zepplin. You have an interesting mix of stuff on your channel :) Can I suggest you try out some Tom MacDonald? Based on your vids I might suggest you start with his song Ashes and then be prepared for a journey through one of the most versatile, fully independent talents in the world!
Great video, love reaction videos.. Recommend Pink Floyd, 1994 Pulse concert - Comfortably numb (remastered or original). One of the best guitar performances of all time.
I wanna turn you onto Laura Nyro, white blues from the 60s. Laura Nyro ended up writing a lot of songs recorded by other artists. But she was just a Bronx born Jewish girl who sang on the corner with her friends. ua-cam.com/video/Ve6PSCUOYvE/v-deo.html

I saw them 5 times.with David lee Roth
..one of the greatest shows you could ever see!!

That would still leave 80,000,000 who could play like him. Is that what you meant?
He could play just about any instrument.
I love that what you are doing is uniting rather than dividing society on so many levels. That's the crux of it to me. ❤
He just casually tapped, walked through the entire pentatonic scales at lightning speed, turned a Baroque riff, and brought it back to his own blend of hard rock on the verge of metal in a matter of seconds. Eddie has been learning and playing since he was eleven years old. It's talent and time in your craft. He was crazy good!

Dude is legend of legends
Kinda reminds be of the solo in "Beat It" said no one ever!
Alot of people have mastered the guitar, but there is only one master. RIP Eddie, keep shredding in heaven bro!
Eddy & Carlos could/can make a guitar cry!!!! ❤
He was very drunk. In past interviews he admitted that he didn't even remember doing this solo.
He didn't look drunk at all...maybe a small buzz?? He didn't remember it cuz he soloed every night for decades

All I can say is Bow down.....Eddie Van Halen is amazing and the best guitarist to ever live.....RIP Eddie Van Halen 😢
There drunk, best guitar player of all time. He made it sing.
I so love it when Eddie makes it sound like a bowed instrument.
yeah he wasn't even picking at the strings at that point, but rather the knob thingy on guitar
The One and Only EVH !!
Moving up & down on the neck of the guitar, he finding the different "note"!
Eddie invented playing the strings with both hands. That's why he was so great .

Best comment! I hope he explores your suggestions.

This particular guitar he built was dubbed "5150" btw

Have you ever heard Jimmie Hendrix and his guitar moves? Checkout when Jimmie played the National Anthem at Woodstock 1969!
It's halen like hey or hay
hibernation by ted nugent is a guitar masterpiece it ranks up there with eddie a must listen .love your reactions .
You should watch Neil Peart's drum solo
The best drummer !!
@@chellj8175not better than Bonzo
Every fret along the neck of the guitar gives a different tone. As the guitarist holds the strings along the neck, making chords or playing individual strings, as Eddie Van Halen is doing here, you get different sounds. Also each string is tuned to a certain music note, and the super high pitched one is the high E string. Everyone likes to make that wail.
Sounds to a surprising degree like Johanne Sebastian Bach.
Not everyone can play that fast or this good.
Multiple 10s of thousands of hours
Stevie RAY Vaughn YEAH!!! DO IT DO IT DO IT
He did the Guitar riffs for Michael Jackson's Beat It.
If you liked Led Zeppelin's "Whole lotta love" I recommend reacting to Van Halen "Ain't Talkin Bout Love".
Bro what the hell ! Stay up homie
The women are saying, I wish my man can move his fingers like that! lol
He didn't understand how he did it either. He never learned to read music. It was a God given talent and ear
Realize the rest of the band took a break he didn't.

Years and years of practice.
They were just clowning at the beginning.
Ten Years AFter-woodstck live-going home
This is actually Van Hagar. You need to go back in time when David Lee Roth was the lead singer. That was the real Van Halen!.
