I kind of agree with the sheriff not saying the name of the attacker, cause that just gives him what he wanted, it gives him attention instead of giving the victims attention, and how proud of himself the news anchor looked being able to say the name, it's annoying.
Cause at the end of the day not saying it is kind of pointless, especially when his views don’t even align with keeping situations like this from happening over and over again
@BandofHorses 1985 It doesn't. That's the whole point of not saying the name. If the name of other individuals was kept secret and instead the focus was on victims, there might be different things that happened. And I mean Elliot Rogers, if his name was never mentioned and if his association with the incel community was never mentioned, there's a chance that some violence could have been avoided. Avoiding saying the name strips all information away, and leaves it "Some bad guy did [thing]." News splashing the name everywhere makes it almost like he's gained a sort of fame, which drives me up the wall.
Agreed, our culture has become so focused on killers, that I often times find the victims to be an after thought in the re-telling of these stories. It’s unfortunate, especially when they certainly do not deserve any recognition, as that is exactly what they want. Although I am interested in the psychology of killers, I would still much rather hear about the lives and accomplishments of the victims… they are the ones that actually matter.

I’m generally a pro-second amendment guy but I’ve wondered if we should adopt a system like in Norway where to get a license to own a gun you have to join a shooting range first and before granting the license the police will interview the other shooting range guys to see what they think of you. They know that in a European country frequent mass shootings would mean more restrictions on their hobby and they take self policing very seriously
@@eriknervik9003 Latvian here. I have about 4 different guns for hunting, I had to go to a shooting range, take a safety and firearm maintenance test. I got a gun and a hunting license, and everyone in my hunting group are very safety responsible and understand the risks. You can get a carrying license for guns, daily use, but you have to prove you are very responsible and mentally stable. I am a fan of this. As there are little to no irresponsible gun users, and everyone knows and follows safety. ONE thing bothers me, if you have multiple guns you have to store them in a safe when not in use(ok fine, no big deal), but once a year a police officer has to inspect the safe, and they must enter your home to do that, I dont like the government literally coming inti my house.
@@assasin19991999 I have a license to carry a concealed firearm. In the US this is regulated by different states, I have license issued by Washington state. To get that all I had to do was pass a fingerprint background check and pay a fee. You don’t have to get a license to buy a gun, but when you buy one you have to go to the gun shop, fill out a form, show your photo ID card, and then pass a background check. The check is the gun store salesman calls a phone number to the FBI and a case agent on the phone searches the name to see if it matches a record for criminal convictions, if he finds none he tells the salesman he can sell the gun over the phone. The biggest problem in America, is that the country is large and we don’t have a dedicated national police force or court system. Courts and police are normally the responsibility of states and cities, and whether or not they share records is voluntary, and many places have loads of paper records, different computer systems, etc. So it’s very common even for people who shouldn’t be allowed to buy guns to be able to buy a gun because of poor record keeping. Someone with a conviction goes to a gun shop, the gun shop calls the FBI and the case agent doesn’t even have the record and so they say the person is clean In the US the police can’t enter your house without your permission or a warrant, or a really really good reason (for example, if you haven’t seen your elderly neighbor in several days and fear he’s hurt or dead you can call the police and the police can enter to make sure he’s ok but this is a limited exception) if the police came to my door to inspect my guns I can tell them I don’t want them too and unless they have a valid order by a judge they can’t come in

This happened in my hometown and my cousin was one of the people who was shot. She managed to survive but will never be the way she was before. I was being homeschooled that year so I was home when it happened. My mom came in in an absolute panic and said there was a shooting at the college and my cousin had been hit. The bullet passed through her shoulder and exited down by her hip, ricocheting off her ribcage and lucky missing any vital organs. We spent quite a bit of time with her in the hospital while she was recovering. I still see #Umpqua Strong stickers on cars everywhere around town.
Just so you know, a Black parent calling an adult child "Baby" is not strange at all (especially from mother to son or father to daughter). My Dad called me "Baby" or my childhood nickname until the day he died.
Yea, but I wonder if it was strange for those observing due to the way he was acting at that moment. Probably acting like a whining manchild. Hearing someone call their obviously grown child, 'baby' at a time like that, instead of a quick slap on the back of the head, and telling them to grow up,.....probably would raise a few eyebrows, and mixed questions. But yes, for sure, there's nothing at all wrong with a parent calling their adult child, 'baby'. I get called it on a daily. Quick question, does anyone know, if Elliot Roger's had asperger's? Just curious?
It’s only weird if it’s in a flirty or sexual manner cause that’s pretty gross. But to all the good parents out their once they give birth to someone, the baby is forever their baby.
Look, let's be real the amount of love Elliot Rodger gets online from the incels is scary. The fact it has gotten to the point that every time you do a mass shooting video that we know his name is going to come up is nuts.
I think there is a powerful attraction to this movement. I am married with kids and am/would be a target of incels...Thus, I am going to share my honest thoughts about these shooters and the incels at-large. I think there are MANY males in adolescence who feel and think similar complaints about sex, relationships, role of women in this or that, etc...Why? It is a time when one is evaluating various manners of independent thought and electing their own values. Having said many related to incel resentments/beliefs at different times, for varying lengths of time, they evolve out of this. However, some do not and given how ER is a household name in the true crime community, king of the incel one= it is shocking if he is not mentioned. He set out to do something and sadly succeeded beyond his evil fantasy world made painfully real. Each one of these is, in a way, the return of ER by proxy to take more lives NOT his to take.
This is my theory. These guys tend to actually lack a strong and present father figure. Then they are often bullied. The love and adoration of other men is actually what they want and are lacking. They are desperate to belong to a supportive male community, and there it is. The amount of incels from single mothers is very disproportionate. ER is their original king.
The fact that the Red Pill/MGTOW movement is growing in popularity shows the level of dysfunction in people. You don't need a movement that is anti-womam to make a choice not to date them. Identifying as an incel is admitting you have given up on the thing you allegedly want which is a great way to never get it. So... if you don't want to be in a relationship, that's an acceptable choice. Blaming 51% of the population for your inability to get laid instead of yourself is assuming that 4 billion people are horrible and claiming victimhood.

@@Saitaina I get what you're saying, and I agree with honoring the wishes of the victims family members. But as far as I can tell, the only person involved in the case that refused to speak the name of the killer was the chief of police. He may have many people in the community that agreed with his position, but surely he can't speak for everyone. The name of the murdering POS was released by the local, national, and international news media, so a UA-camr covering this particular case has no reasonable obligation to keep the name of the killer secret. Many UA-camrs are much less respectful to the victims of the crime (using melodramatic voices, focusing on the morbid details of the violence perpetrated, never calling the victims by their names, etc), so you have to give Dire Trip some credit for that. With that said, you are entitled to your opinion, even if I feel most of your objection is probably better directed at the true crime genre as a whole, as opposed to one specific channel.
Wow the animation in this was phenomenal! Great job!🥰 Anyway I remember this horrible tragedy! Prayers continued for those who still deal with the aftermath today! 😭
Also makes you think about the people in California today, oblivious to the fact had this guy not moved to another state, they would be dead. If he didn't do it here, he would have done it in California.
It's why we're the most mentally unhinged country. We don't give af about mental health, and even though most will say mental health is important, those same people will be quick to insult and attack people when their mental health gets ugly. We're doing it to ourselves at this point. No one cares about these people until they snap and become truly evil, then their name is everywhere. We're literally railroading these people into committing horrific acts, and people act like it's not happening.
That's because mental health is such a blanket term, more of a cheap cop-out than suggesting any real, tangible changes. What I mean is, to improve mental health America would need to catch up to the rest of the modern world and have universal healthcare. Not seeing a loved one get sick and then be unable to pay for it would be great for mental health, right? Not needing to worry in the first place would be great for mental health. Improving education, actually taxing the rich so that your middle class doesn't get swallowed up by lack of financial opportunity, not letting monsanto poison the food supply so that people didn't get sick, I mean the list goes on and on. We're here because this guy shot and killed 9 people, not because he was lonely and disturbed mentally. There are lonely, depressed, anxious, and angry people in every country but in the good ones they don't have access to a gun. Especially with people just sitting at home more, playing video games like dorks, avoiding exercise and healthy food and then whining about their mental health like it's some surprise. This kid needed to get off the internet, go for a jog, eat 5-10 fruits or veggies a day, and he would have been fine. Would've felt good, made some friends and not needed to be poisoned by ideologies. So specifically, what do you mean by mental health? Because I think we're on the same side of not wanting innocent people murdered in our society. So what type of tangible steps do you think can be taken to improve this mammoth mental health that you've identified as the problem?
Asperger’s and Autism are the same disorder, only we don’t use the term asperger’s anymore because it is no longer a diagnoses. What was formerly known as asperger’s is now recognized as a form of autism (usually involving high verbal functions, an ability to mask traits, etc). Great video, just throwing that out there!
Asbergers is still a diagnosis lol. Why would you say this? We literally just had this diagnosis for a family member. Ppl are so strange. Just make stuff up, then act like you did a favor lol
@@thevolatilitywhisperer7616 Nope. It is not recognized in the DMS5. Look it up. @@thevolatilitywhisperer7616 It’s actually crazy to me how allistics think they know more than us about our own disorder lol. If you aren’t autistic yourself (idc how many autistic people you know) you aren’t an authority on the issue. The term Asperger’s came from a Nazi who would sort autistic people into two categories; those who could work, and those would be killed. Asperger was his last name, and he killed the autistic people who weren’t functioning enough to work, which is part of the reason we have discontinued the name.
@@thevolatilitywhisperer7616 it's not. I'm autistic and work in the mental health field so this is an area I'm very familiar with. it was removed as a diagnosis from the dsm. the only difference between aspergers and autism was that autism was connected with a language delay. ability to mask has never been a part of it. a lot of autistic people feel that the diagnosis is offensive due to the sense that it seems to separate "bad" autistic ppl vs "good" ones (ie: autistic people who pass vs those who don't) and bc it was named for someone who has been discovered to be a nazi collaborater. your loved one was probably described as having aspergers because of the intense stigma around autism, and because it's become shorthand for autism with low support needs (which is also not true, aspergers never had anything to do with intensity of support needs)
@@jaynenunya6070 I assume this must be something specific to the United States or a few other countries at most (with the usual criteria such as political/ military alignment, GDP, cultural and historical similarities, being co-signatory members of international organisations, and other such factors one would typically assume to be at play not being factors) I think the confusion must stem from Asperger's not being its own diagnosis in the US, in contrast to other Western countries? For example it certainly still exists in the UK as I know people who have been diagnosed with it, and not autism or a version of autistic such as high-functioning etc. I too find it offensive to amalgamate all those on the spectrum under the broad umbrella of autistic, despite the fact that there is a very distinct difference between the two; for instance Asperger's is rarely ever noticeable and people can go about their lives without it being evident to people they encounter, whereas, depending on the severity, autistic individuals can often be identified as such much more easily. I cannot see the benefit of lumping the two diagnoses into one and the same category; Asperger's is linked with other conditions, such as depression, anxiety, ocd, struggles with social mobility, and various other issues, such as low self-esteem/ self-confidence, which is certainly not helped if they are deemed to be on par with severely autistic people much more in need of support than they are. Asperger's also is linked with in a large number of cases high level intelligence, whereas autism is generally associated with the opposite, difficulties with basic day-to-day tasks for instance. If the US has removed Asperger's as a diagnosis after decade upon decade of it not falling under any kind of scrutiny as its own condition, seemingly somewhat arbitrarily, then perhaps restoring it to its previous status would be the best course of action at this point. Times are difficult enough right now and unfortunately rates of self harm and suicide have skyrocketed recently most notably among the younger generations, so adding this to their list of problems isn't a great move by the authorities I would think.

I think a big part of the problem is the over prescription of psychotropic medication for children. Too many, way too many doctors are simply prescribing instead of subscribing to the time tested positive effects of talk therapy. We need to stop the default of prescribing these drugs and engage our children in real and meaningful conversation.

@@stoney-51999 I call bull on that, you are here for the same reason as everyone else, we as humans are fascinated by people who do these things. @@kinglicks5646 You can call bull all you want, lol. Never once did I say I wasn't interested in it, or by the people who commit these crimes- all I said is that we need to focus more on the victims of these horrific situations... and if you can't agree with that, then I'd have to say you're a bit heartless; and if you can't acknowledge and respect the victims (and their families) in these true crime stories, you truly shouldn't be indulging in true crime at all in the first place.
The news report where they showed Anthony Fantano's picture instead of the actual shooter was one of the funniest things I've ever seen
Hi everyone, Anthony Fantano here...

If you're denied from a firearms training course for seeming to eager, you should be put on some sort of a warning list
Too eager? Maybe he had never done that training.
Or was intending to do some damage. 😅
@@assasin19991999
I have a license to carry a concealed firearm.
Someone with a conviction goes to a gun shop, the gun shop calls the FBI and the case agent doesn’t even have the record and so they say the person is clean
In the US the police can’t enter your house without your permission or a warrant, or a really really good reason (for example, if you haven’t seen your elderly neighbor in several days and fear he’s hurt or dead you can call the police and the police can enter to make sure he’s ok but this is a limited exception) if the police came to my door to inspect my guns I can tell them I don’t want them too and unless they have a valid order by a judge they can’t come in
This happened in my town and our community hurts so bad from this. Thanks for sharing information on him, the news refused to.

I also hear it from white parents in the south. Not unusual at all.
My condolences
Yea, but I wonder if it was strange for those observing due to the way he was acting at that moment. Probably acting like a whining manchild. Hearing someone call their obviously grown child, 'baby' at a time like that, instead of a quick slap on the back of the head, and telling them to grow up,.....probably would raise a few eyebrows, and mixed questions. But yes, for sure, there's nothing at all wrong with a parent calling their adult child, 'baby'. I get called it on a daily.
Quick question, does anyone know, if Elliot Roger's had asperger's? Just curious?
True
Seriously though! They almost always come back full circle to that creep now. It’s disgusting.
I try never to say his name, but he's the David Koresh of the neckbeards.

It's bad and should be removed for naming the killer against the wishes of the victims and community.

@@Mshi- yay low standards!
I really hate how in America, we'll publicize and debate on every possible reason for something like this EXCEPT for mental health.
That's what I say
@@davidmetzler6670 idk if you know this but most of these shootings happen in areas that already have very strict gun laws to begin with.

Look it up. Your family member was probably diagnosed as high functioning autistic but the doctor may have said asperger’s to simplify. It’s literally not a real diagnoses anymore. I’m autistic and this is straight from both my own psychiatrist and a 2021 edition psychology textbook. But go off I guess
@@jaynenunya6070 I assume this must be something specific to the United States or a few other countries at most (with the usual criteria such as political/ military alignment, GDP, cultural and historical similarities, being co-signatory members of international organisations, and other such factors one would typically assume to be at play not being factors)
I think the confusion must stem from Asperger's not being its own diagnosis in the US, in contrast to other Western countries?

It's Friday we made it 🙌
T.F.I.F.
Looking forward to Monday? lol 😝
It's actually Saturday
@@nickyblue4866 it's Friday for me
Great video. I hope your channel keeps growing.
I just started this video but already I'm asking if this guy was showing signs of issues why the heck did he have access to a gun?? Yet again
Wow. His childhood is similar to mine, but I don’t wanna ever turn into an evil person like this. This is crazy.
😱 Wow what a shocker, may the victims rest in peace, 🙏 another interesting video thanks 🖤
He probably made that profile for Spiritual Passion because he was desperate and looked anywhere and everywhere for someone. Desperate people tend to do that and are constantly on the lookout. They don't really care who it is as long as it's someone.
@Surcharge most people like that are harmless. Being desperate doesn't automatically make you potentially dangerous. They're on the lookout all the time, but not in a predatory way. They're more like dogs who hope some nice human will feed them and pet them.
@Surcharge lmao yeah all lonely people are SOOOOOOOO dangerous aren’t they?
It's crazy he hated people that had nothing to do with his state in life.
It's a surprisingly common attitude in some American communities, just look at the 2020 summer riots, when shameless hate for complete strangers took over American cities for months.
@@mjanny6330 The 2020 protest was a response to a brazen murder. The hate directed to the murderer and the system that allowed acts like that to go unpunished was justified.
If you really think about they technically did do with his state in life
When concerning events happen in a community or in places like the Army, and officials know what is going on, it is in everybody's best interest that the information be made public and transparent as soon as possible. Because when officials withhold or delay releasing information that the public wants to know, people will just start coming to conclusions of their own and they will ALWAYS assume the worst. This is how conspiracy theories start too.
Most of the times, when information is hidden from the public, it's to cover someone, often government officials, who didn't do their job.
Great job! Love your videos! 😊
I couldn't watch this when it first released, since the shooting here in Buffalo just happened on Saturday. This shit just never stops.
Lil
Lol
Lul
Hatred for blackmen but he did no kill any just whyte people
Soooo..... was his mother charged as an accessory? Because.. i mean.... the utter idiot that she was, knowing her son was unhinged, yet she still kept multiple LOADED guns in the house and allowed him to own many ... shes guilty as far as I can see and should be in jail just as well.
damn...
You should create playlist on the Crime by Incels....
It's like the new Terrorist ring already by now...
I appreciate your coverage of this sad case that's local to me. Can you look into the case of John Ackroyd? There's a documentary about him called Ghosts of Highway 20.
I've known of this unfortunate story, but not from the angle that you present.
Well done.
Rest in peace to all the victims some of them so young it saddens me they all didn't deserve that. They're in a better place now with God. God bless all of them and their families ❤🙏🕊
Rip to all the innocent people who lost their lives bc of some sick individual you will not be forgotten
Oh, they will, eventually. It's a sickness though, for sure.
@@fraxizztv6433 What an unnecessary comment.
@@Lily-lc5ox You're not wrong. My nihilistic bias shined through. Apologies for not reading the room. (:
I was in the navy tried to self delete but roommates rushed me to the ER. I got a charge for that and didnt discharge me. They just made it worse for me. The navy is too toxic.
@4:03 I can't be the only one who immediately pictured Clayton Bigsby from Dave Chappelle's black white supremacist skit...
Great story, well done 👍🏻
Wonder if the ADL would have also thought it wasn’t a hate crime if Christopher had asked the students if they were Jewish
oh shit just heard about this case not long ago even though I live in Oregon, awesome to see a video on it
Being kicked out of Army basic training for su!cide should have disqualified him from possessing firearms. This was completely preventable.
Maybe it should, but the law right now is based on “adjudication” which involves official process, most of the time the military doesn’t want it bother with that for people who aren’t fitting in. They just seperate them from the service and call it good
i can’t believe fantano would do this
This horror happened in the usually quiet friendly town of Roseburg, OR. Two excellent and very caring friends grew up and live there. We were all teachers together for a Navajo school in AZ. I haven't seen a video/ in-depth story on this massacre before, and didn't know much about the perp.
yooo just noticed that elliot had vegeta's hair line
I believe a questionnaire should be filled out every time you buy a gun, all questions should pertain to mental health, and the questions should be different and random each time.
I think a big part of the problem is the over prescription of psychotropic medication for children. Too many, way too many doctors are simply prescribing instead of subscribing to the time tested positive effects of talk therapy. We need to stop the default of prescribing these drugs and engage our children in real and meaningful conversation.
Meds bring in more profit AND long-term customers through addiction ;) MURICA!
I was prescribed an ADHD medication as a child its now discontinued for children as it actually was found to basically cause underdevelopment in the part of the brain responsible for happiness (of course a dumbed down explanation). Ive struggled with crippling depression since i got off those meds (around 11 years old) and no amount of anti depressants nor therapy has helped. Ive learned to live with it but it has had detrimental consequences. All because i was a hyper active 6 year old boy
I can’t say i necessarily agree with your statement.
I’ve started taking anti-depressants and ADHD medication since i was 14/15 and combining that with Therapy it really has made me feel more alive as a person than ever (and not only that, but i’ve been able to concentrate better in school)
I think it just depends.
@@Windermed look at the statistics i think 91% of mass sbooters in the USA were on SSRI medications. I was on some anti depressants and it made my depression worse i swapped meds like 6 times till i found the right one
I wouldn't blame doctors. It's a mix btw the parents and patients, therapy takes time and it's hardwork, it can also get quite expensive, so Some people would rather take a pill. That being said the meds didn't make him homicidal
I remember this happening while I was in high school two hours away. Afterwards there were threats made at our school and almost everyone skipped that day
