This video saved our house LD during negative zero temps in the middle of the night. The directions had me trying to light it on the pilot setting. Thank you so much for this!!
This video saved the day! After 6 matches I watched your video and the tip “slide the pilot all the way to ‘set’ caused it to light immediately!
Your instructions worked perfectly. I even found that long rod to stick a match on to light it with hanging on a chain just like you described.Thank you.
Thanks for explaining being quick with the match through the hole mine kept blowing out until I followed your instructions
Thank you. The instructions written on the furnace by a previous owner were not quite right or in the correct sequence. Thanks to your video, I got it re-lit with no issues.
I love you. This video saved our household of many exotic pets when the pilot light went out during the night. Thank you thank you!
Thank you so much man! I ran into this exact same issue and had about the same frustration time 😂🤣 I appreciate the help! You’re awesome!
Every yr I come back to this video. Thank you
Same furnace but with the black knob pilot light knob. Looking for THAT video.
Push know to the right until you feel the tension loosen. Then you'll be able to push the know down, and that's the igniter. The rest of the instructions are the same.
Thank you! This was so helpful to me. It was awesome that you cut right to the chase with very clear instructions!
Thank you so much, I’m a new homeowner and have never had a gas furnace before. This was exactly my problem. Now to find out why it blew out. Probably needs a good cleaning I’m guessing.
Thank you so much! You saved me. Perfect instructions, lit it first time in a couple minutes (PS - I'm 75 yr old female, not technology friendly).
Just moved in and was wondering how this worked. Thanks for the video!
Thank you! This really helped me and I didn't have to pay someone to come and light my pilot!
Thank you so much. Even though I have a Unidyne heater, these instructions did the trick.
Thank you very much, I actually got the old heater going (new to me) and FYI 9th match is the charm 😆👍
Question: I had a 1995 Coleman AirPro 75k btu gas unit replaced in 2021 with a Goodman 96% eff unit. The Goodman is using 4X more gas than my old Coleman in the winter (no leaks etc). I have done all research and questioning.. I believe these new units are not what they say they are for savings compared to the old units. Can you tell me why my newer, supposedly better efficiency unit is using more gas? Btw avg. temperature is the same in the last 2 years and temperature settings.
Well...that's a good question and a good thing to know.
I'm was thinking about replacing my old coleman but I will probably hold off.
You saved my family from another cold night, and my wallet lol. Thank you!!
The long reach matches are long enough but keep a lighter handy if it goes out.
Very helpful video! Is that pilot flame about twice as big as needed?
Just saved me so much time and effort thankyou so much this video was a godsend
This video just totally saved me. Thank you
Worked beautifully, thanks
Well done Chris
Thank you so much for this video! It was extremely helpful!
on this coleman do you turn on the blower manually and off manually? or does it turn off on its on once temperature satisfied? thanks
It turns on/off auto set by the thermostat/once temp is satisfied at said thermostat
This is the exact heater that I have… I can get the pilot lit, and I can turn it to on because I do have the push down pilot… unfortunately the flame when I turn it on burns right away but the fizzles out into nothing, air flow is good, line has been bleed of extra air. The only thing I noticed is the reset button is stuck in the compressed position… do you have any suggestions on how to get my furnace to keep a flame when I turn the thermostat on? I’m in desperate need of any feed back that may help.
Did you figure it out?? Can't get the pilot light to stay on 😢 Coleman
We had to hold down the knob a good bit longer than described in this video
Thank you, Sir, for your very informative video! Greatly appreciate your time!
Do
You have heat on ON position on thermostat before you start??
Brilliant, Exactly what I was looking for!
Zippo sells a 13 inch grill lighter. Works perfect
The junk you so much for the information Great video
My flame was too high so I left it at set, and it calms down, is that good or vad
Mine is not as strong and won’t stay on is that bad?
Super helpful thank you much
I just tried to blow mine out with fire on electric dust cleaner, and then I try to light immediately after that apparently the dust cleaner is highly flammable and it flew back a flame about 10 inches out of the hole when I stuck the match in it burnt my hand it happened too fast to scare me or it probably would have pretty good
So what is the pilot choice for?
So what do I set it on to light it 👀👀👀👀👀👀???
Cause one guy said leave it off an light it an that didn't work 👀
The Black plastic piece broke that says Pilot and off. Bought another but the spring popped out and lost the clip that goes on the spring. Trying not to have to buy the entire $496.00 unit part just bc of these tiny but important pieces. Hanging it up again for today, still unlit.
Very good but my hot water heater pushing warm water out now should I buy a new or get a plummer.
Try to up the dial on the hot water heater first to see if when raising that dial for hotter water temp fixes it, if not then it might be going bad. How old is the water heater?
Thank you my water heater is about 10 years old
To be honest it's probably on the end of life for it, I'd try the above fix and if no luck I'd replace it very soon before you run out of hot water. Hope the info helps, also I just switched over to a tankless water heater about a year ago and have never looked backed. Endless amounts of hot water, I have a how to install video on my channel. Have a great day:)
Okay 👍
God bless you! Thank you for your video!!!
Does anyone know how to remove the screws in the triangular plate where the pilot light knob sits?
worked like a charm...thank you
In that hole where you light up the furnace if someone cuts the hole to make it bigger is this possible to get it fixed like wielded I just bought a mobile home and it has that problem it didn't pass the inspection because that whole was cut please someone tell me if I can fix this just welding a piece of metal with the same hole
I want to say yes, but also the inspector is probably looking for a sight glass/view port to ensure the pilot is lit.
I’d try to match the plate to the hole but with the circle cut out of it, then weld it. If you need dimensions let me know.
Worse case, I’d call a inspector and ask them
Omg thank you so much!!!
Your video saved me 👌🏼
Thank you!
Thank you sir.
My pilot light hole has a plastic window that doesn't open
Mine too! Could you please tell me the solution as to how to get to it?
Mine also. Did anyone figure out how to get to light?
@amandaantista5012 My "Booster Fan" was locked up and humming. This was preventing the pilot light from getting enough outside air to mix with the gas and burn long enough for the thermocouple to detect the flame.
Dude your instructions were not very clear. It says the keep the pilot dial OFF then light the match. After that it doesn’t clarify what to do with it after you light it. Not blaming anything up. Sorry
Thank you for this video! It helped us so much!
