Thank you! I had a hard time finding the location to put the match. Your instructions are the best that I’ve found. I was able light the pilot on the first try.
Thank you sir for this video! My dumb self accidentally turned off the pilot when changing my furnace filter on one of the coldest days and could not figure how to turn it back on. I called a heating and cooling place at midnight but they obviously were not answering . It was your video that saved me money and helped me get it up and running
Thank you! Worked as you said in the video. I used two fireplace long matches and taped them together to get the pilot lit on my furnace. You saved us $$$ and now I know as long as nothing is broken, that I can light my pilot without losing sleep
Thank you so much, very easy instructions man! Also love the fact you gave us those 2 options on the different type of levers/furnaces...I saved this video just incase I ever have trouble lighting my pilot, thanks again!
Thanks a bunch! This helped so much with getting my furnace to work again! Such a detailed and easy to follow video! I used long reach matches and they worked perfectly!
I want to say thank you so much my dumb ass was holding the match in the wrong place for the past 2 days I wouldn't of been able to do it without your video I really appreciate it thank you
Thank you so so much! I was searching for a long time looking for a manual on how to light the pilot light, never found it. Damn, watched several videos, tried with they said, didn't work for me. Then, after watching yours, I decided to give it another try, SUCCESS! Before trying your method, I did turn the little ON-OFF-FAN switch back from the OFF position to the ON position, whereas I had it turned off before. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it. But, I am happy and have heat in my house now. Thank you so very much!
Hi, Randy. Enjoy your advice and info, thanks. I have an issue with a Coleman mobile home furnace model # DGAA056BDTA, manuf. date ~ 2002. 4 days ago it began the 3 flash code, which points to a combustion switch not closing/failed to close. I replaced it with a brand new one from the HVAC store only to find that it didn't fix the problem. Had an HVAC tech come and test it, he used a jumper wire to hook up the 2 light blue wires which plug in to the switch as a bypass and that got the unit working, but only as a temporary fix. He said I needed a new combustion/inducer motor. I bought a new one from the HVAC store, installed it per your video and still doing the same 3 flash code reading. Checked the stack for clogs, all good. The HVAC tech and I checked the ignitor, heat element, filters, rubber hoses to switch, voltage and ohm readings from the "usual suspects", to no avail. Only way it works now is if I use the jumper wires, and repeat each time I want heat again. Any ideas?
Hello, sorry it’s eleven days ago to message, but it really sounds like either the new motor or the new switch is not working correctly. The thermostat calls for heat and the board turns on the combustion motor which pushes pressure into the switch , closing the switch. Sometimes I hook the tubes up backwards and need to switch those. If you’ve checked that and when you bypass the switch by jumping those wires and alls well, that means usually the motor is pushing hard enough so lean towards bad new switch. Make certain the switch you got was .20 or .10 inches of water column. That motor pushes just over that so it has to be that or lower.
Tysm 😊 your video was the first to explain where to put the match, Ive struggled with it so much in the past. I use a cotton pad/ball instead of a match bc it stays lit longer, I had one repair guy teach me that c:

Thanks so much for posting this. Propping that little door open, really?! Yes, safety is important, but that seems as old school as my furnace, lol. It took me more time to find an appropriate prop than it did to light the pilot. Anyway, the furnace hasn't kicked back on yet, so the adventure may continue with an actual professional replacing something. In the meantime, at least I learned a new skill. THANKS AGAIN!!! 😄
@@randydolph852 Haha, yup, I even accidentally turned it OFF and had to relight it. And the pilot light is still on, no problem there. Sadly, the rest of the furnace has not cared to join the party. It's an Intertherm of unknown age. The pros are coming today to give me an official diagnosis. Fortunately, I have a wood stove so that's offsetting the cold temps. It just doesn't heat the whole house. In the meantime, your video REALLY helped me focus and kept me from having my own meltdown. Thanks again!!! 😃👍
Thank you for this video. I have a 7900 series Coleman Presidential III furnace that came with our manufactured home in 1986. My husband was the one who always lit it, but he recently passed away and now I'm attempting to turn it on. There's no "red" button next to the black Pilot On/Off button so I assume it's because our furnace is older than the one you show. When I attempt to do as you show by pushing the button down on the "On" position, it does not go down. It does go down on the "Off" position. There is a red lever next to furnace that is attached to what I assume is the gas intake line - it is currently turned sideways, which I assume means it is off. Can you shed any light on this issue (sorry, no pun intended!)?
I have intertherm MG "-065A" C furnace and shut my pilot light off by mistake do you happen to have video on how to light it? can seem to figure the knows out know of any video on this particular model?
My mother in laws mobile home had a new thermal couple installed and system cleaned but the pilot still blows out every 2 weeks. It looks like once it cycles heat then the gas kicks off the fan stays on and blows the pilot around . it has a strong blue pilot . Any ideas ?
Hello! Sometimes this is a cracked heat exchanger problem. The heat box allows the blower to move the flame away from the thermocouple. However this is rarely the problem as the ‘crack’ would have to be fairly large. Often it’s an air intake problem or the pilot not turned up high enough. If it’s a new problem, where you’ve really never had to light the pilot and now every two weeks, check the roof Jack on the roof for any blockage . Also could be the valve is going bad. Sorry there is so much it could be. Unfortunately that is the worst problem to have, one that comes around every two weeks and can’t be easily pointed to.
Hello, there is a model of valve that did have the settings you referred to but only a few have the ‘set’ portion. By far most of the valves are only pilot, on, and off. If you watch to the end of the video you will see I’ve shown the valve with the ‘set’ lighting feature. Thanks for the comment
Is it just a on and off position on the valve? If that’s the case it means it’s a ‘hot surface ignition’ type furnace and doesn’t have a pilot but works off of an igniter once the thermostat calls for heat. If the valve has the ‘pilot’ position and you can’t move the knob to it, then it must be a bad valve and needs replaced.
Do3s it have the red level with the pilot and set position? If so sometimes if you push down a little as you push sideways to set is the same as holding to pilot
Thank you for watching. If you finish watching the video, we did go over the one with the red switch. But I will look into making a video on it's own for that issue. Thank you! :)
Hello, the on/off switch on your valve most likely means you are dealing with a ‘hot surface ignition’ type furnace which ignites with an igniter. Those types cannot be lit manually. Check for an igniter plug off to the left of the valve. If it’s there, turn the unit power switch off, take plug apart and check for continuity with a electrical tester, testing the plug end that leads into the furnace. If no continuity, bad igniter, if there is continuity there is another issue.
I’m E and I have problems with it now. I call professional but they told me I have to replace my furnace and will cost $6184.71 so I don’t really know what to do . Can you guys help me please

@@randythemobilehomeguy3715 sure can! I'm looking at my furnace, it's like a box, I don't know where the "opening" is to get at the pilot light or the buttons

Hello, that means you have a bad thermocouple, the copper piece coming out of the valve. We have a video on how to change a thermocouple. Please look up other videos by Mobile Home Parts R Us.
Let's see: 1 hand to hold the door open, 1 hand to hold the match, 1 hand to hold the lever on SET and one hand to hold a flashlight to see inside. Right.
Take one of the screws that holds the flap on out and slide it up out of the way. Put the match holder in your mouth to light the match. Hold the button down with one hand and light the pilot with the other.
@@Chuck_S Holding the match in the mouth is too unreliable as it has to reach quite a way back in and stay steady in order to ignite the pilot. I do mechanically block the door open and use a flashlight with a magnetic base to illuminate. I was just pointing out that it is not consumer friendly.
I am having a problem with my furnace. It will turn on and light up but then after a couple of minutes, it will turn off completely. Pretty much I will hold down pilot, make sure it turns on. Hold it down for about a minute then I turn it to the on position, then turn the on switch on top and make sure my heat is set at 70. The fire will ignite and it will turn the fan on, but after about 2 minutes, the fire will turn off and shut off again.
Aside from the unnecessarily complicated match procedure, it's very easy. Just one long match worked fine for me. Turn knob to pilot, press and hold it, light it with the match. Then just keep it held for 30 seconds and turn the knob to ON.
