The reason why your tent broke is because it didn't have an load bearing cross members. I work in the event industry business for the past 10 years. Seen wind and other natural weather events tear up some quality equipment before. No one realizes how heavy that canvas avatually is, especially wet and cold. 😅 recommended getting some pole braces so the weight of the snow doesn't break your tent this time.
My parents use one to park a golf cart year round over in Hayward. So like you they get the snow. First one didn’t make it through the winter. The second one is a snow load rated one. Even with that they do their best to clear the snow off after every snow fall. So far that one has lasted five years.
I was thinking the same, he's whispering while dragging a sled behind him and crunching leaves and sticks while he walks. Maybe he's starting a new hunting ASMR category.
Well Mav it sounds like its about time to go have a cordial talk with your neighbor. Take him some swag and maybe some chili and have a conversation about staying the fudge off your property.
I'd go have a nice talk with the neighbors asap. Just explain you bought the land to use, hunting included, and not to come on your land for any reason during hunting season. Hey, mav, whenever you are hunting from a stand always make sure to try to have your pathway clear to your stand don't want to make too much noise where you're going up to your stand at. Just given your tip for the day
Mav, you need to have "no trespassing" signs along the perimeter of your property. That way, everything is legal and on your side. Post signs every 10 feet or so, so nobody has an excuse saying they didn't see them. That's what we had to do, unfortunately. It's sad people don't have respect anymore these days.
It comical at best, pathetic to watch. I’ve never known a deer hunter to whisper while making all that racket. He’d be run out of any deer camp in northern Michigan 😂
Mav - You may want to take down that tent during the winter, at least during the snow season. Given how much snow Minnesota can get, it may be difficult even for this tent to make it through the winter without collapsing. I live in New England, and I have to take down my tent each year before it snows. I left one up once, and it collapsed the moment we got a good snowfall. A foot or two of snow can be very heavy, especially once it melts, hardens, and ice forms within the snow. Food for thought at least. Great video as always!
Hey Mav just wanted to say love the videos man. Before my grandma passed in March she loved watching your videos. I’m glad they can bring a lot of people joy I’m glad you haven’t changed up after getting big on here. Keep on trucking friend.
Great video - if you roll the lime hard on the cutting board before you cut it (pressing down with your palm as you roll), it releases the juice by breaking the vesicles and makes it easier to squeeze. Same for lemons.
Great video as always. One trick i learned was to smash apples with my feet before getting close to my stand. Then rub the apples around the bottom of my leggings. You could even pour a little bit of apple juice around the base of your deer stand. The apple juice camouflages your human scent. And i would post some serious no trespassing signs for sure
I only grunt as a last resort to try to bring a buck in after I see it but I never do it blind. It can scare bucks away. Pre-peak rut is when it works the best, during rifle season it usually doesn’t work at all 👍
There's not enough draw with that wood burning stove. There needs to be either a fan to create draw, or make the exhaust run out the roof again. That 90° is too short to pull the smoke out.
If those poles bend or break again and the canvas is still good you don’t have to buy a whole new tent. You can get all those brackets and then go to Lowe’s and get all the steel pipe cut to size needed. We send up a huge 12x20 awning canopy with those brackets and 1/2 steel pipe. We would take it to the beach every year for camping. It also survived a tropical storm the one year.
I suggest building a low wall on the inside of your tent. Maybe 3 1/2 - 4 ft tall. I did that and my tent is sturdy. Plus, it helps keep some drafts out.
I’d love to see more hunting vids! I’d especially love to see you bow hunt, I think it would be great content! Don’t get discouraged dude, deer hunting is all about patience and perseverance!
Mav, keeperrr going man! 2-3 years ago I discovered your channel from the camping in -20f degree video and this is what Is inspiring me to want to be able to do this similar thing, I would take a laptop bag/ school bag from your channel merchandise!
I've used those old style boxwood stoves for decades. You need to try to get the stove pipe more vertical and the longer it is, the better the stove will draw air. Also, remove one of the lids on top of the stove surface when cooking. That allows more heat to your cast iron frying pan without allowing more smoke inside.
I love venison chili. My son provides me with the meat then I grind it myself. You can also thicken up the chili with a couple of tablespoons of corn starch mixed with the broth. Stir it well then pour into the chili and stir till it thickens. Doesn’t change the taste at all.
Hey Mav, just curious, did you have to throw the OLD TENT away? I did not see any rips or tears in the canvas, and it looked to be in decent shape. I was thinking that you were only going to have to replace the frame, but I see you bought another tent.

Your stove/fire problems are almost 1000% for sure using WAY too big of splits. The firebox on my smoker is 3-4 times bigger than your wood-stove here, and even I use smaller logs than you are. You have to feed it more often, for sure, but that's almost certainly your issue. Too big of logs, not enough airflow, smothered fires. 100% of clothing worn above the waist except sleeves and gloves must meet the blaze requirement. The blaze may be orange, pink, or a pattern that is at least 50% orange or pink. The 50% allows camo-blaze to be considered blaze. The 50% does not allow a person to only have 50% of their torso covered in blaze. Like the front is blaze and the back is not. Or the bottom half is blaze and the top is not.
