- In today’s video, Levi gets explains the differences in car wash soaps and reasons why YOU may need them! From high foaming pre-washes to Wash & Waxes, each soap plays a different role in a detail! Sit back and enjoy.
The year is 2024, and we have PLENTY of options when it comes to car wash soaps/shampoo’s. Heck, some of them even smell like Christmas! But what actually makes a soap different and how does that affect a wash? Levi takes the reins in this video to explain why and when you would use different styles of soap with different PH’s and different properties.
Alkaline soaps for example, are a phenomenal way to pretreat a car and allow the high PH to begin cleaning the surface without agitation. PH Neutral Soaps are great for maintenance washes and are typically safer in direct sunlight. Protective soaps add a small amount of protection to keep your wax, sealant, or coating topped off.
The big takeaway, not all soaps are created equal and you don’t want to run into the wrong crowd in a dark alley. We hope you enjoyed this video and learned something new!

Grandma Gold Class still putting in that work 😆
I searched grandma gold class on google didn’t see anything. Can u send me the link
@@user-ne4fd1cx5p Meguiar's Gold Class
@@user-ne4fd1cx5pu serious 😂😂
It's meguiars gold class soap. And as the above said it ain't no joke. I always keep two half gallon jugs of it
gentle snow foam for the front, blackout for the rear! 🐿️💨
Love the narrative super entertain and so informative haha, looking forward for video like ghis in the future!
Me who never wears gloves 😅 outside of ceramic coating.
Great explanation, thank you
I use Active Foam for every wash on my vehicles as it makes the physical wash process easier and reduces the likelihood for marring. Not really concerned about it diminishing coatings because its so easy nowadays to regularly apply protection, especially with "spray and rinse" ceramics.
Been using Active Foam as a pre-wash and rising it off pretty much bi-weekly. Will have to stop that. Car is coated with Adams Advance Graphene Spray.
Any good ceramic coating should easily stand up to Active foam being used regularly. It is only a 9.5ph. Which is the same as Frostbite. P&S says it’s perfectly fine to use it on weekly washes.
Half the time a bug remover is needed too weekly (at least it is for me) and that is usually way higher PH.
Superfoam however is much stronger. That one I would reserve to use less often.
As Jay said, active foam is fine, if you have close to neutral tap water, the product will be very close to neutral once diluted 100:1. I would much rather use a stronger foam which will very slightly speed up the degradation of coatings rather than not use a strong foam and grind dirt into my paint all while preserving an easily replaced coating. Preserving your coating or preserving your clear coat... that's the main question.
Also the sun is probably going to more aggressive on your coating than a heavily diluted alkaline snow foam, especially a mild one like AF.
I use Active Foam weekly on my coated car too…I have the Ammo Reflex Pro coating
This was so good I had to watch twice and I took notes with pen and pad in hand fr quick referencing into categories 👀👍. Lev taking us to school 👌 on soaps and surfactant cleaners👀
Thanks bro!
Thank you. Very informative video!
Glad it was helpful!
No Oberk APS? Hopefully next time ❤
Great video!
Not understanding why everyone is commenting “insert brand here” can also do it.
Yes many brands have comparable products. They’re only showing brands they carry.
That’s why you don’t see CarPro, Gyeon or Labo or any other brand on the table.
Correct!
No Frostbite?
If you wash a car with either the high acid or alkaline soap, should you wash again with a neutral soap after to neutralize it?
Technically yes.
My only water source is well water which is very alkaline in my situation. Is there a particular soap you'd recommend for this situation?
Something in the neutral or more acidic range
Levi you like several other Detailers I truly respect because you have no Ego when it comes to a through and honest explanation on how to’s and the why products work.👌. All I can say is you represent the Detailing Industry with honor. I salute your contributions 🫡 I’m not just blowing smoke; I appreciate you👀👌🫡
Where did ya score that under armor detailer hoodie?
There's is Labocosmetica Purfica that is a ph 2 shampoo
What happens if you use active foam every week. I Have been doing that. Then I hit it with the cleanmaker!
If you have a good coating AF will do little to no harm and will reduce dirt during the contact wash.
Regarding products similar with Kock Chemie RS, CarPro has Descale.
Correct, but we don’t sell CarPro.
Are any of these neutral car soaps fragrance free?
AutoShampoo by KCX
Aweso.e! Thank you.
Does anyone know of any fragrance free rinseless washes /no rinse washes? I would *love* to find one. Have looked high and low, and reached out to brands... no luck so far.
so where would FrostBite be?
Frostbite is a Ph of 9.8… so it would be on the left side with As. It will strip a wax or sealant, but not a coating.
1:09 Carpro descale?
Descale is a pH of 6 and by the time you dilute it I sits at 6.5 at 1:10 or 7 at 1:100.
Okay but are we getting that 1 liter of Koch AutoShampoo ???
Have heard it’s the same as Active foam just without that great scent.
less foaming action, ive had both AF is better
Thought Stjarnagloss Sno was neutral ?
So did I It was sold to me a PH neutral snow foam ??
Anything from 5-8.5 is deemed neutral. SNO is technically neutral.
I need them all
your shelves can't handle them all!
@@jeffc6832 don't you worry about my shelves Jeff C! 😂
Koch As : 10 liter for 45 EUR.
Acting like you don’t already have them all is crazy 😂
Carpro Descale can also be used in a foam cannon..
Nice!!!!
I've never used soap on any car, I used a few buckets of warm water to wash, rinse and use a leaf blower to clear most of the water, then microfiber towels to finish drying. I use Beadmaker to finish.
I feel sorry for your paint.
@@trigganometry168 my cars always look new.
Give a rinseless soap a try. I think you will love it.
@@muskcoder6367 "washing" a car without soap is like showering without using soap, you're not actually cleaning it, you're just rinsing it. You may not be able to see it, but your paint is definitely suffering lol
Not mentioning Labocosmetica is wild
We don’t sell Labo, but I have used their lineup. So I understand what you mean. But this video is about soaps sold by TRC.
Totally get where you’re coming from. However we don’t sell Labo, great brand btw, this video is about soaps we sell at TRC.
Where is Frostbite? You missed this winner.
On the left with As.
We didnt have it available at the time of filming.
Acidic soaps: descale, adams strip wash new formula. Lol
Good work! However we don’t sell any of those brands… this video is about soaps that TRC sells…🤔
Think they forgot Carpro Descale exist, the og acid soap.
Maybe cuz they don’t sell it 😅
@@jhonatanmeza2710 bunch of pansies
@@marc-anthonysimonetta3694cuz we don’t sell CarPro?? I’m confused why you would say that.
Such a cool video! You're missing Carpro Reset.
We don’t carry or sell CarPro so it couldn’t be in the video!
I love this. Super bubbly and clean cut. 😂😂 Keep it up TRC
Rinseless wash. Quicker&cheaper.
also worse for your paint
Rinseless is still the safest and fastest way to clean your car! But this video was for soaps not Rinseless😁
@@MasterOfShine fastest, yes. Safest, not even by a mile. One of the least safe ways to do it LOL
CarPro Reset.
Yup, but we do t sell CarPro.
There's a face we haven't seen in awhile...
