I had that very experience with DIY when I tackled super super dirty door jambs and trunk jamb. This was my sister's car which she doesn't care too much about so I decided to do a test using purely rinseless on those areas. The bucket looked so nasty filthy dirty and I could barely see my hand when I put it in there, but everytime, the wash media came out clean and ready to pick up more filth and dirty and then release it into the bucket. That sold me.
Agree. I just did a nasty rinseless wash from all the salt and road film using 2 buckets. The wash bucket was filthy black and rinse was a little dark but not as bad. Everytime I took the sponge out, it was clean.
EC you failed to include a control solution, just plain water. Yes wood floats to the top and real dirt will drop to the bottom (under a grit guard) and then the suspension will be seen. Hopefully it is shedded from the MF rags but then again that MF fingers tend to hold onto junk. Thank for pointing out the issue of proper DILUTION.
And to add to this, you agitated and dipped DIY MF in the solution more than any other brand (which will remove more dirt). If you were to do this test again, weight out the amount of dirt to eliminate another variable. Pay attention to how they are submerged in the solution (dirt folded into MF vs dirt on the exposed side of the MF). Lastly, not rinsing the measuring cup between each measurement created cross contamination. Ideally, an entirely new (virgin) measuring cup for each product. Not a criticism, just suggestions of improvement on testing to remove more variables. I agree that proper dilution was a big miss on the other videos.

I love these comparo videos and imho the test needs to be done again just because the towel is too big for the cup which can be debated that its not what we do in real the real word. The only conclusive is all of them pulls down dirt , how much thats debatable and if i were to judge ONR kills the other ones on this test because its the only one thats not murky meaning it pulled and kept the dirt down on the bottom which is the goal on this test. I'd say do a video on how the product was intended to be used properly ie in a bucket with the proper amount of water , dilution and recommended mit, rag , microfiber or foam.
Great test Eddie. I think it would even be different to use 4 clear buckets with 3-4 gallons of properly diluted rinseless each. The microfiber doesn’t have the space to release all the dirt in the small cup. I love the real world stuff though. Keep doing Gods work
Ya this was to just go like for like I’ve done these test with each of these rinseless on dirty cars , we compared the cleaning , streaking , how it cleans micro and sponges

Awesome test and great comparison. Showed a lot. As you said we want emulsification and encapsulation. We want the mitt to be cleaned. It showed how much less clean the mitt was for sure on the ONR.
Great video! Truly appreciate all your time & testing. Thank you for helping me pick the right products for my business! I obviously need to buy more DIY
I can attest to the difference between DIY And ONR. I started my rinseless journey with ONR and always hated how greasy and gross the big red sponge would get. I would have to clean it with dish soap to get all of the grease out. I NEVER have to clean the sponge using DIY rinseless. It’s always PERFECTLY clean. I was shocked the first time I experienced it!

My car is coated with Opti-Coat Pro3 and Opti-Coat Pro+. I've gotten the impression from Optimum that ONR bonds with their ceramic coatings as does Hyper-Seal. When my car gets really dirty from road salt I will first spray the lower panels with Optimum Power Clean which I rinse off with water. But normally I spray on Opti-Coat No Rinse and then do a contact wash with that and the black sponge. I use Hyper-Seal as a drying aid. My car looks great. Am I being suckered by thinking that Optimum products bond chemically with the ceramic coating?
Hey my friend first thanks for watching second - I would ask Yvan lacroix - I don’t know the “claimed science “ how can hyper seals nbond “ when chemically it is a just a sealant any ceramic sio2 topper would do the same thing “bond “ To the sio2 on the pant
I think maybe they were talking of the Opticoat rinseless. That one has a bunch of additives intended to help their coatings. The normal ONR is touted for it's lack of strong bonding. Always be careful not to read too much into the grievances of colorful personalities. The reality is that you purchased a premium product for your vehicle. It's reasonable to expect with care and maintainance you will enjoy the attributes of the coating for the guaranteed life of the product. So, there is no real reason to search for faults in your purchase. I mean really, how many microfiber towels that are stained get used daily all over the world. Does being stained mean there is grit present? I don't know. I've had things run through the washing machine that stay stained despite the solids that caused the stain being gone. Even those we admire are not immune to their biases. And that's ok. It's why I take everything with a grain of salt. Even from my favorite celebs.
Jamie already said it, but literally the hero we need! Holy science, Batman! For real though, awesome job. The importance of those proper dilution ratios can’t be overstated.
Your videos inspire. After watching, decided to bring out ONR v5 after using DIY a while. Legacy sponge looked stained and microfiber the same; same method and conditions. Can’t go backwards with cleaning tech.
You washed the dyi one in the solution and swirled pushed it up and Down around which help release more dirt half the dirt fell off of onr one when smashed it together dirt has to measured use regular dirt not potting soil with wood chip.
Huge fan of diy product, I have a few but don't have any of their rinseless. Yet. I still have half a bottle of ONR, going to buy some diy rinseless now. Right now.
Hey Eddie, I use both DIY and Absolute. I like them both. I thought you were in love with some other brand though, I can’t remember. Is there better than these is my question. Thanks!
Awesome video bro with correct comparisons. Would you be willing to run this test back but include Mckee’s and that new stuff from ADS that isn’t released yet? That stuff cleaned your towel like crazy in one of your newer videos when you tested out griots. Would be interesting for sure

I tried to make one and had to head to church haha and full sent haha - the test was to show just the difference with proper dilutions , it could be better and that’s where you come in
Thank you sooo mutch! I am not a chemist, Just a "weekend warrior ". I have used onr and I now use absolute (I believe diy is the best but it is very hard to find it in my country). I know for a fact that absolute does a great job and couldn't understand why it felt better to use P&S. I literaly was ready to text mr Yvan and ask. That was a trully honest video. Shout out from Greece! Thanks again for the great video!!!
Awesome video! Not sure what the other videos were trying to prove. All those products work but like you stated it’s all what you want out of a product. I used ONR and wondered why my wash media always looked dirty. Since will I started using DIY, absolute, and OP eco wash I get a slicker feeling and cleaner wash mitts.
We used them all and very little differences in the end result on a vehicle. And this proves a point we have been preaching for years, never use a mitt/towel twice, use multiple towels/mitts and dont use it again. Nice demo
Well I was thinking of using the product as a waterless wash. I thought that fact that ONR encapsulates rather than emulsifies makes it better as a waterless wash since I won't have to "wipe" as much after. I figure that just like the dirt in the cup, the dirt from the car will just "roll down". With the other products the dirt might break down but it will remain there, similar to how it remained floating in the cup. Might be wrong though, idk much about this stuff.
And this is why I use DIY. I do my wheels with it even and it's one of the only ones that gets the wash media clean when I dunk it and rub it against the grit guard. If people are bothered by the dirt in suspension with DIY and N914 etc. they could just use two buckets.
THANK YOU for such a timely and practical video! My first thought about the other videos was that dirt is heavier. so of course it's going to sink to the bottom, but "encapsulation" means that the dirt *should be* evident within the mix, not separated. I wish you could've included McKee's too as I have been using that as my mainstay at moment.
Thank you bro, I honestly had a bottle of ONR in my cart and cancelled it after watching this. Right now we just moved and my gallon of DIY rinseless is held hostage by pods in Omaha. I am going to get a small bottle of DIY to get back on my rinseless zen. ❤
@@Ecdetails I heard that, I am just saying you helped me level set and not get drawn into the hype. I already had a good thing, and there are shops here where I can get p&s locally. I don't need to order anything just top up and enjoy my wash process!
Thanks Eddie. Good job of sticking to the facts. I’m still amazed at how many people in this industry just can’t use what they want without trying to bash something else. I feel like most of the people sharing and trolling with the other cup video have never even used other products. That’s where your video really helps. I don’t wash buckets or cups. I was my car so my experience is from there. I used a few of the brands you tested here with the exception of Phoenix. While they all cleaned the car, I felt DIY gave me the best overall experience followed closely by P&S. There are a lot of products out there folks. Use what you like and move on.
Thanks for answering the bat signal Eddie. I personally use N914 since it cleans the sponge thoroughly before I go back to contact the paint. Basically does what DIY more or less showed. I did buy some Absolute just to try something new. Keep being our #fakedetailer hero
But when we add a surfactant to a product, we help to emulsify the blend (product+water+dirt), The surface tension between several products is lowered which helps the product to blend. So, if the water and dirt are well separated (not blended), this only means that the product has fewer surfactants (or no surfactants). But chemically, this doesn't mean it is better (say "more efficient").
@@user-nj6rk5xs1m *if* the dirt is not separated from the liquid (water + rinseless), this doesn't mean that the product is bad. It is different. In this case, the liquid carries the dirt with itself, which helps to clean the vehicle. If there is no blend, when you pass the sponge on the dirt (which is on the car), then the water (+ rinseless) runs over the dirt. (simplified, with simple words - I hope: English is not my native language).
I appreciate this video! I bought Absolute before I watched this , mainly because it seems to do a pretty good job for a reasonable price ($47 for 1 gallon). DIY looks better in this video, but it's significantly more expensive ($63 for 1 gallon).
Not the best test man. I get your point BUT if i where to roll up the dirt like a joint and dunk it in all 4.... IT WOUNDT DO NOTHING, dirt can only escape if it has space you got your hands in them tiny cups that can barely even fit the little rags. can we get a re do with some containers that are like 30+ counces? these little kiddy cups are not good enought. no hate man but u got them degrees and i got my state sciencefare scholarship hanging on the wall, so i know how to do an experiment and this aint Quite it. Sure we can figure out somthing better, thanks for shoutung out something different in the echo chamber tho.
ONE THING I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYONE SAY. ONR is just BLUE. impossibly blue. so blue that it just dyes the dirt. I feel like thats skewing the optical data. I could spray paint some dirt blue and throw it in ONR and clain ONR teleports the dirt to Antarctica. You get what i mean? everyone is judging by water clarity so if the water in one test is FREAKING fluorescent, its gonna look more clean by MASKING dirt particals suspended in the solvent.
@@Ecdetails you got a video for Rev5 against Rev3? Curious to see the comparison because I’ve never used either product professionally. too much water and money in my area lol would never fly with clients. Huge in cali tho all my homies use it in some way. Would like to see how much better it was.
I think what is happening is the marketing mumbo jumbo is really messing people up. Everybody needs to find what works for them in their business or personal life and just go with it! I noticed that the dilution ratio in a video I saw and in all examples was not a proper dilution. I think a lot of manufacturers of these types of products have all said more is not better.
So a question for your @Eddie - so there is suspended dirt in the cups, would that mean that’s dirty water, so when re-dipping your wash media and ringing it out, are them using dirty water to wash the vehicle?
What happens when we use soap ? We redip into suspended water - there a difference between it looking dirty and the dirt falling to the bottom of the grit guard
I use a new microfibre cloth per panel, so the dirty MF is put aside and not used again until cleaned and washed. so its always a clean MF touching a dirty panel. Why would you use a clean MF fiber and use dirty rinseless solution onto a dirty panel??
@@Ecdetails I do believe in the rinseless wash its just that your test is flawed. You conclusion is that you rather have a semi clean MF using dirty rinseless solution, rather than a clean/fresh MF in a clean rinseless solution to wash the next dirty panel. Logically if I see the MF is dirty, I would grab a new MF to keep the solution as clean and contaminated free as possible to minimise scratching the next dirty panel.
THIS Eddie finally got me to understand and believe in rinselss! My synapses finally connecting the dots of all these terms and claims! Finally got emulsification vs. encapsulation and how they each matter for cleaning paint without scratching. Thank you rinseless sensei! I've got flat black soft Japanese paint and it's so freaking hard to prevent swirl marks, tried McKees v1 and just swirled the hell out of it so went back to soap (BH autowash, the best imo), but I wash outside so always chasing waterspots. You're finally convincing me to try rinseless and see how safe and easy the process is vs. soap.
You have that backwards. The ones that look dirty have dirt particles suspended in the water. ONR looks clean because it is doing what it said dropping the dirt out of solution. Think about it. With the first three you are literally washing your car with dirty water.
The big red sponge for me has always been dirty when using ONR. So now im thinking ONR might be best with the multilple towel method. Will lift and suck up the dirt
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the very reason why you use ultra black sponge or big red sponge or legacy sponge or other similar sponge media with rinseless. I’ve been washing our 3 daily drivers every week mostly with ONR but had a chance to do with DIY and absolute for the past 2 years. No issues whatsoever on all three but I still stuck with ONR cause I bought a coupe of gallons of it. I noticed the differences but im not eager to change my solution. In fact, my main concern was washing the wash media which is a burden to be honest hence the reason why I switched to UBS a little over 2 years ago. Even Yvan himself mentions that the sponge was designed specifically for rinseless Good test Eddie. 👍
Thanks for watching . Like I said use what ever you want the goal of this test was to debunk th clear cup nonsense , onr will do just fine - doesn’t clean the sponge 🧽 as good as the rest , when Itested it seemed fine to the naked eye but again I didn’t put it under a microscope

While they all cleaned the car, I felt DIY gave me the best overall experience followed closely by P&S. There are a lot of products out there folks. Use what you like and move on.
Agreed I rather have a clean car then a “clean bucket “ and if so preference use what you want
FATMAN (Respectfully), what would your opinion be if you were to use a rinseless wash as a pre-wash only, no mitt? Would ONR win?
I use diy detail, flex hybrid wash, idrosave , eco wash
Thank you for the videos however, I feel like there was pressure from DIY detail for you to promote their product.
I think the visual bait for people was the murky water effect, but doesn't mean a lot in terms how good the product it is
Ya I let it sit in the cup over night all the waters are murky but clearing up
As a Rinseless connoisseur the goated Rinseless is feynlab v1 everything else is tiers below.
Let’s have a moment of silence for Feynlab v1 the goat
@@Ecdetails RIP. I still have about 12oz left I use on special occasions 😂🥴
Thanks for answering the bat signal Eddie. I personally use N914 since it cleans the sponge thoroughly before I go back to contact the paint. Basically does what DIY more or less showed.
I did buy some Absolute just to try something new. Keep being our #fakedetailer hero
N914 would of done the same cleaning
@@Ecdetailsso does it matter if I go with DIY detail or N914 ? What do you recommend between those 2 ?
Great test 🎉🎉
Thanks bro
Great video. Not sure ONR ever claimed it would do better than your test proved though right?
They said encapsulate which it does z- it was the online community saying oh look it’s goated and I’m like let’s see the whole picture
Thanks for sharing this!
Could you explain it in simpler terms ? I’m interested just confused on how to interpret
@@JeanLucCoulon thank you
Mic 🎤 Drop!!!! Boom…..and this ladies and gentlemen is how you “keep it real”
💨💨 it’s cups and rinseless haha 😂 appreciate you watching
EC Details on 🔥🔥🔥🔥! Great video!
Appreciate it!
Do you have any new info on idrosave?
Goes live for sale this month end of month
This is ittttttttt!!!!
Thanks for watching
@@Ecdetails Thank you for doing what you do👌
Superb!
Thanks a lot!
ONR is an older product, is the same guy behind ONR and DIY
No. Different chemists. Different owners.
No very different in every way.
Dude, try both it’s like saying the same guy is behind the Renault 5 and Audi RS4
I appreciate this video! I bought Absolute before I watched this , mainly because it seems to do a pretty good job for a reasonable price ($47 for 1 gallon). DIY looks better in this video, but it's significantly more expensive ($63 for 1 gallon).
Absolute is a banger
Does someone know how Carpro Ech2o compares to these? Its the only one I can get without paying 50% more for shipping
I haven’t done this test but it’s good waterlesss wash
I feel like I remember you posting this in the DIY Detail page on Facebook?
Yes sir
Papi you're the hero we need and don't deserve. Fatman to the rescue 😂
Fatman! Imma have to make a meme or something
Thank you for setting the record straight.
Thanks 🙏
I was keeping the vibe the same - I have done these test with buckets against each other and it tells a different story. Appreciate you watching

Hey Mr. Degree. Make the video the right way then. 😅
not all hero’s wear capes
Thanks 🙏
Great test Eddie!
Thanks! 👍
Eddie is preaching...Church!!!
Appreciate you watching
I think what is happening is the marketing mumbo jumbo is really messing people up. Everybody needs to find what works for them in their business or personal life and just go with it! I noticed that the dilution ratio in a video I saw and in all examples was not a proper dilution. I think a lot of manufacturers of these types of products have all said more is not better.
Bingo!
Nice work Eddie
Thank you
The hero we deserve ! And the one we need! 🦇
This is a great test by the way! Leading by action!
Appreciate you
I use a new microfibre cloth per panel, so the dirty MF is put aside and not used again until cleaned and washed. so its always a clean MF touching a dirty panel. Why would you use a clean MF fiber and use dirty rinseless solution onto a dirty panel??
Do you not trust the science of a rinseless wash
@@Ecdetails I do believe in the rinseless wash its just that your test is flawed. You conclusion is that you rather have a semi clean MF using dirty rinseless solution, rather than a clean/fresh MF in a clean rinseless solution to wash the next dirty panel. Logically if I see the MF is dirty, I would grab a new MF to keep the solution as clean and contaminated free as possible to minimise scratching the next dirty panel.
I saw that signal Eddie… But it wasn’t a donut, it was a cruller. I’m sure of it.
0:43 3:16 forgot in postprod? 🤔
I suck
THIS Eddie finally got me to understand and believe in rinselss! My synapses finally connecting the dots of all these terms and claims! Finally got emulsification vs. encapsulation and how they each matter for cleaning paint without scratching. Thank you rinseless sensei!
I've got flat black soft Japanese paint and it's so freaking hard to prevent swirl marks, tried McKees v1 and just swirled the hell out of it so went back to soap (BH autowash, the best imo), but I wash outside so always chasing waterspots. You're finally convincing me to try rinseless and see how safe and easy the process is vs. soap.
I am interested to get your thoughts , like rinseless wash is how I run my business it’s never lead me down the wrong path
You have that backwards. The ones that look dirty have dirt particles suspended in the water. ONR looks clean because it is doing what it said dropping the dirt out of solution. Think about it. With the first three you are literally washing your car with dirty water.
Suspended dirt happens when the liquid is breaking up the dirt, if you let the cups sit they all go to the bottle.
My boy EC to the rescue! Great video Eddie

Great work the only thing missing was owners pride eco wash wasn’t playing in this test😂💯👊🏼
Eco wash was like nah it won’t be fair
@@Ecdetails 😂👊🏼
The big red sponge for me has always been dirty when using ONR. So now im thinking ONR might be best with the multilple towel method. Will lift and suck up the dirt
Waaaaaa I thought it was made for the sponge
@@Ecdetails it was but after a few washes the sponge becomes dark red. After some APC it turns back to bright red
🎵NaNaNaNa Fat Man! 🎶 got me cracking up.. great vid!
Yes 🙌🏾
I was wondering why you didn’t tell why onr was doing a better job cleaning and encapsulating the water lol
What's the point of clear water in your bucket if you still have a dirty mitt or sponge?
I said it does it job - it encapsulates it better though cause that’s what it claimed
Even Yvan himself mentions that the sponge was designed specifically for rinseless
Good test Eddie.
