Nice video, got mine fixed just in time for the snow
Thanks for watching!
So I have a 15yr + year old Toro Power Clear that was stalling out on me. Checked several videos and all involved removing the cowling and carb then cleaning. I tried a short cut and now the problem has been resolved, so far. I used Sea Foam and liberally added it to about a half tank of gas. Started out with 2 oz and ran it. Smoked and stalled, re-start and added another oz. Ran it some more. Eventually added about 6 oz of Sea Foam and gradually the problem went away. Just did my driveway, 45 minutes of steady use, no stalling. It worked for me, maybe will work for you. Solution for now. PS, this video is nice and detailed, better than most.
Good job and thanks for watching!
There is no reason to bother cleaning these carbs. I do about 7 a year, rebuild and sell. Carbs on eBay are about 14$. I used to clean them, but if the bottom seats are wore, they will leak. Most of these are 10-20 yrs old. Replace carbs! I’ve had 3 coils go bad out of 40, a couple of plug caps ruined. I’ve also had 2 sheared flywheel key. I can do these in my sleep! I have one of the 4 cycles on the bench right now, there is a compression diverter on the valve cam that sticks. Gives it extreme compression when trying to pull over. Guy yanked recoil cord off! Good luck with these!
My 3650 had no nuts that you speak of...just one solid metal piece with threaded holes. I was thankful - less to lose!
Thanks for watching!
I have a CCR2450 as my main blower. Tossed the plastic carb in the trash and bought a metal one off ebay for $13. Also dialed in the RPM to a stock 3800 with a tach. Runs like a champ.
That's very cool. Thanks for watching.
how did you adjust the RPM's?
@@holdemNE1 Using a tachometer. They're like $8 on Ebay. Bend the governor arm away from the carb to increase the rpm, small bend goes a long way. You can bend it with your finger.
@@norge696 I know exactly what you are talking about. Thank you very much.
Do you have a model number for that carburetor?
You can smooth it out even more running off choke. There is a pilot jet hiding under the white print model number sticker (above screw at 16:00 mark). Remove and clean tiny tip hole with a wire brush bristle. Love those 3650"s they sound crazy until you get them into snow and mellow out. We have three of them in the family 2 have been switched to metal carbs and one is still running great on the cheapo plastic one.
Thanks for the info!
Thank you for this!
After going through the carb twice, finding this jet and spraying it out, finally made the blower run smooth at full open choke.
I have the 2450 and think it would benefit from being switched over to a metal carburetor. Those cheap plastic ones do not hold up and cost more.
Very good information! Thanks!!
This solved my surging. Runs smooth as butter!
I had my 3650 running great, then never used it for about 4 years , when I went to start it, it wanted to go but wouldn't ,so I shot a little starter fluid in it , it fired up , plowed the drive and it sat a couple more years, thenit would not even cough. I took the carb apart again and it was full of black paint or plastic from the plastic bowl, eaten by the starter fluid I think. Just something to think about. I cleaned it and it's running again,
Super helpful. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
excellent thank you for making this!
Glad you liked it!
I have the successor to this machine--Power Clear 221, essentially the same machine with a new cover and the new chute control. It sounded like this brand new. One defective part after another. Toro just gave up on the 2-cycles at that point and didn't care.
Does anyone know how to reconnect that linkage to govenor i cant seem to fig how the governor goes back on it came off when i repairing the pull string
The rubber flap that slides over choke lever prevents snow crystals from being sucked into carb when the snow is super powdery.
Or Rain from entering the carb when left outside in the weather due to the “scoop” on the front of the carb.
I've done a few of these and had no idea there were nuts back there. Thanks!
They stay put most of the time. Thanks for watching!
Found one on side of road. Perfect condition cept guy tried using gas not mixed. Gunk in carb and needed primer bulb runs like champ
Great find!
Ive noticed mine has a surge like urs sounds like is that normal? I was wondering if hadnt tightened too much or bad gasket but ordered a metal one on ebay too but idk if surging normal on these i dont see screws to mess with stuff
This plastic carb was not discontinued because its so bad. The replacement for it is a metal one that is the Briggs & Stratton 801396 Carburetor. There are cheaper knock offs of it for $20, but the OEM B&S is about $120. Unless you comb Ebay.
In the future, I may just replace it with an ebay special. Thanks for watching.
Hi there. I don’t have the flap that you show at 2:05, would you have the dimensions of it? I need to make one up for mine
Unfortunately, that wasn't my unit and I no longer have it in the shop. However, any rubber flap that's close in size, should work just fine. It's meant to keep snow from entering the carburetor.
I followed the instructions you gave but now my carburettor leaks gas out. It seems to come from high up on the carb, not the gasket. The machine runs. Any tips on what to look at?
It's possible that your needle is not seating properly. If the needle doesn't seat properly, gas will get past the seat and leak from above. Hope you find the problem. A new carburetor from Amazon or Ebay might be in order. Less than $25.
@@RealManSkills Thanks, I'll check the seat and use carb cleaner. If it doesn't work then a new carb. Thanks.
Thanks for the vid, just wished you zoomed out a tiny bit during the carb take apart in the pan.
Yeah, I realized my mistake afterward. Thanks for watching.
@@RealManSkills Thanks for showing!
Mix the fuel, oil and three shots of Hennessy cognac in the thing and that will clean it out
