    Ive done a few mods to my VRD but not many….using a 3s 850mah battery up front sitting over the steering servo….amazing performance and one of my best crawlers ……I have built a new Power Hobby LCG carbon chassis recently …13.5” whl base….Vanquish 3 gear trans and a fusion se motor….so far it’s performing as good or better than the VRD but need more real world testing. …..
    Imo a Power Hobby Carbon chassis would be a good one to test on your channel….unique design that seems to work well.

    I think that the all in $ after upgrades is also an important compression. sometimes a cheap rtr that is heavily upgraded is more expensive than the higher priced rtr that performs equal or eve better with very minimal upgrades and still cheaper. I hope to see some comparisons on this.
    The biggest difference between all these is the geometry but that is hard to nail because of so much diversity between rigs (weight distribution, tires, where center of gravity actually is).
    This is the closest comparison I've seen. thanks for the vid.

    I find it funny that the red cat guys are so hurt by this review. The accent is by far the best 299 you could spend on a crawler, super impressive for the money but it’s not the be all end all of the crawler world.

    • @jgrc73
      @jgrc73 9 місяців тому

      Red cat has been making quality crawlers for a while but the prices are creeping up and the last time I had to deal with their customer service was a nightmare.
      Considering how many defective trucks they are shipping out these days I believe people are gonna have the same experience I've had and it's a shame because the people designing these trucks are knocking it out of the park
      not just the crawlers they make great bashers too and drift cars and everything else but I cannot stress this enough they do not appreciate their customers so give them your money if you like. it's undeniable they make good vehicles but you are running a risk in the event you have problems.
      they treated me so poorly after the money I spent with them I'm dedicated to educating people about their lack of customer service until it changes
      Hey RC you've raised your prices you've got people that support your product and you have good products now go hire some customer service people that care about something other than taking money.

    Great comparison and dollar for dollar, I think the VRD Stance is the one to beat. My buddy swears by his Ascent though, and seeing it run, I figured he wasn't far off the mark in thinking it could be a competent crawler with a minimal investment in upgrades. Apparently, my other buddies think I'm a pretty funny guy and didn't hesitate to call bullshit on me, lol. So, with us agreeing on a $300 USD budget, my buddy agreed to hand over his Ascent and, with his money and truck in hand, I set out to prove the nay-sayers wrong, lol! I started with the DSM Rock Warrior chassis ($137) that came out shortly after the Ascent was released. I mounted up the stock shocks but first, I removed the inner springs and swapped out the stock external springs with the Dlux Fab soft versions ($5), all around. I'm using the stock servo and axles with the 20% underdrive/overdrive in the transfer case (included). The motor/esc is a Fusion SE, 1800kv combo ($70). Tires are Interco Swampers, the RC4WD IROK versions ($50) with SL3D printed inserts ($50), mounted on cheap Amazon beadlocks ($40). So, in total, about $350 USD. Really though, new wheels/tires/inserts are a cost that pretty much everyone incurs, which put me back at approx $210! We dubbed the new truck the Ascent Pro and the upgrades have really elevated its perfotmance - low cg with a lot more flex, a ton more traction, great low speed control! It easily matches the performance of the stock VRD Stance and surpasses it in most situations. My buddy is elated and it has become his go to rig. If it were me, what would I do? Probably pick up the Vanquish, just so much going for it. In the end you're going to spend several hundred more than on the Ascent but I think the VRD Stance just makes a lot more sense 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Sweet Jesus there some folks got there panties in there cracks cos the Red Cat didn't mop the floor with these other Rigs.
    As far as a good budget Rig the Red Cat is probably King, add some good tires, and $50 worth of brass a 1080 and $20 Homes Hobbies 550 Can Motor and you will have a cool little Trail Truck/Crawler. Spend some money on the Vanquish and or G-Speed and you will have a Rig you can take to a Comp and whip some ass.
    Hell I don't even own any Vanquish products, but I do have 3 Ascents and the rest of my Rigs are all Axial so i aint a Vanquish nut hugger. This man is giving his OPINION!!!! there are tons of Channels you can go to and they will be hugging the nuts of Red Cat. Hell like i have said before, I think Traxxas gets all the luv on this Channel but I damn sure aint complaining whenever he talks up the Traxxas, as you can tell I absolutely despise Traxxas because of how lawsuits happy they are. I sold every one of my Traxxas Rigs and bought my family the Ascents. What this Channel has is a different view on all the cool new Crawlers and Trail Trucks, yeah I get sick of hearing about the TRX4 but I do enjoy the other uploads because I get to see them in his environment which is totally different than my environment.
