Just something that helped me with being sore. If I do my injection before I go to bed it’s just a little sore the next day but if I do it at the beginning of the day it’s really sore by the end of the day. Scott may want to add to this. I’m not a nurse. if I’d not found his video I probably wouldn’t be doing my own injection. Thanks again Scott
Hi, an embalmer her not a nurse, but I think it's less sore because the body regenerates while we sleep. During the day the body goes through so much physical mental/stress that doesn't let the area heal properly. Just a thought on that.
@@walquirp13 I would agree. No one really gave me any instructions when I started my shoots and being a night shift person I was doing it before work so it would really be sore by morning after I started doing it before bedtime it was so much better. Many thanks to Scott on this video lots of needed information here.
@@timbohannon794 thanks to Scott and to you too. I'm glad I found your comment, it gave me some insight, so now I will inject myself tonight before bed. Be well!
Super interesting that I was never taught to aspirate for my self-injections. I'll definitely ask my doctor/nurse about that next time I go in! Thank you for the great videos on this topic!
Thank you again so much Nurse Scott! I successfully performed my third weekly self-administration of my HRT pain free yesterday. I’m still really squeamish but it’s getting easier!
Only reason I can inject testosterone successfully is because of this guy. I'm a built individual and my thighs have a lot of mass, I never felt pain but always hand a ton of bleeding and oil leakage. The skin stretch, speed of the jab, and how he loads the syringe gives me no scarring, almost zero blood, I haven't had an oil leakage in OVER 3 MONTHS (twice weekly). You go to RNs for this info, doctors never gave me satisfying advice in this regard thanks again man :) remember - just because you're heavily muscled doesnt mean you need to inject like a neanderthal
Man thank you so much. First dose completed and zero pain. I was worried about the air as well. I was also worried about the needle. I had a 25 and 23 gauge but used the 23 based off this video. No problemo! The one thing I messed up on was drawing the dose. My vials are so small (200 ml/mg). Didn't notice in your short video after you insert the air into vial that you pull the needle back so it's almost just the tip in the vial. Had to use a new needle just to be safe haha. I donated to your go fund me! Make sure you use some of it for beer/coffee/drink of choice! :D Thanks again and good luck with school!
I really appreciate your video and wanted to share a story based on one of your questions about blood appearing once you've pulled out the needle. I have given shots in my thigh for years the way that you describe but I don't allow any air in my shots. So the very first time I pulled back to make sure there was no blood which there wasn't but when I removed the needle there was and thus I passed out thinking I was in a vein. When I passed out I fell against the coffee table knocking things over which my roommate heard and came to see what happened. Once I came to, I saw there wasn't really any blood to speak of, just a drop which as you stated is normal. Needless to say after cleaning up the mess of falling on the table I have been pass out free giving myself shots in the thigh ever since.
Man cannot thank you enough for taking the time to share your wisdom and so on. Unfortunately this didn’t work in my favour…I normally always do a test injection into the glute without and lumps or corking of the muscle. After watching your video I decided to do my quad and followed your instructions. I have never had a muscle so corked in my life to the point where I’m walking with a bad limp and unable to bend my knee. It’s been 4 days without being able to train and will be going to the doctors over the weekend if it doesn’t get better. Safe to say I will never inject into my quad ever again. Can you suggest how this could have gone so wrong?
I've injected myself sooo many times and sometimes that happened to me. I guess I just hit a spot that's more sensitive. The soreness does go away but it's definitely annoying. I've tried injecting in a slightly different spot the next time. I also kind of poke with my finger on the spot first to get a feel for how sensitive that spot is. I hope that helps.
Good to know about the air in the needle. Throughout my student life they may be have said a hundred of times that air must not be in a needle. Also i heard once that having a little bit air in the needle prevents the dosage lost of the medicine in some cases. Thanks a lot for proving. A question about vastus lateralis injection: In Turkey, we have longer needle sizes for IM injection than you use. How can i adjust the needle size that should be in the muscle?
Wow thanks! This and your short doing the vastus lateralis IM... total gold for me! Switching back to IM as have been getting regular lipohypertrophy regardless of changing injection sites for subcutaneous (so hopefully going back to IM solves). Meanwhile I'd learnt that buttocks is not the ideal location for IM due to nerves. Def some anxiety injecting to the thigh, too because I'm thin, but I followed your instructions with the cough and I felt nothing! One question -- I have never known how much to pull up on the inserted syringe to see if there is blood. This is the part I hate the most and do it, but kind of half-hearted but seems to take a lot of pressure too, so pull up a little, see nothing, and let it go.
@@AlexiKaruna I’m glad I could help. Pulling back just a little should be enough and this is actually optional these days. I’m an old nurse so I still do it.
I just started did two injections didn’t hurt at all going in or out and coughing while injecting is brilliant! It was sore no redness but felt like a bruise for a couple days after then was fine is that normal as well? I’ll try cold pack next time and massaging more post injection.
@@thenursescottyes I did a shot in the thigh all good doing the shot, but the day after it hurts, I can't keep my phone or keys in my pocket. 2nd day little swelling and discomfort walking. How can I avoid this pain?
Thank you for both videos!!!! You don't know how valuable these videos are, humanity should do more videos like these and not all the garbage that is put out in the world. It seems like you answered all my questions, except for two. 1. RE: Q#3: What do I do if I get blood back into the syringe when I pull back on the plunger? My question is is this happens, is dosage ruined do I still startagain but it has to be with a new little cylinder? 2. How to dispose of syringes, needles, etc. safely? 3. just curious, is the medications less or just as effective applying on the but cheek or shoulder? Assuming these qualify as 'in the muscle' for testerone in particular.
1. If you get blood back when you aspirate, you must start all over with a new dose, needle, and syringe. Sorry. 2. Your pharmacy can give you a red sharps container to safely dispose of needles. You can return it there when it's full. Syringes can be thrown into the trash. 3. Medications that are injected into muscle should have the same effect no matter which muscle you use. The larger the muscle, the slightly more medication can be put there. I hope this helps.
Great video! Thank you ! If you pull back the plunger and do get blood into the syringe , do you toss the medicine altogether? Testosterone is expensive. But I’d hate to cause myself problems by injecting blood into a muscle when I move spots and try again.
Blood in the syringe is a sign that you've hit a vessel (vein or artery) and need to pull out and start over. You are supposed to draw up a new dose. I'm not sure injecting blood into a muscle causes damage, but why risk it? Watch this: ua-cam.com/video/Ib5GN5xwRuQ/v-deo.htmlsi=BcBzLXwLg6lszG3D

Curious about IM vs subcutaneous for TRT. I have been doing sub 27G x 1/2” every 3 days around love handles for just over a month. It's not the pain but the idea of an object being inserted into my muscle that freaks me out a bit. LEG PAIN QUESTION: My doctor told me to make sure I relax my thigh and don't tense up. Also . I got some B12 injections. My husband can give them to me in the glute . But I’ve had IM injections aggravate my sciatica. How do we avoid the sciatic nerve ? I know the placement. He went in the right place . But that 2 weeks of pain , I’d like to avoid in the future. Will going into the thigh be safer in my case ? I wish I could just do B12 subcutaneously. I do my testosterone that way and prefer it because it’s easier. Thank you 😊
The proper place to inject in the butt is in the "upper, outer quadrant." If you take one butt cheek and draw a cross dividing it into four, aim for the upper, outer square. No nerves there. There is another site you MIGHT use called the ventral gluteal. It's more on the side and can be tricky to locate. Google it and see where you create a "V" with your hand on the crest of the pelvis. I'd leave that one for the pros, though. Is the thigh "safer?" I wouldn't say that. There are still structures you shouldn't poke with a needle. But generally speaking, needles, being small objects" don't cause serious or permanent damage. Remember, even if you do it right, you can still have muscle spasms, jumps, soreness, or swelling. Do your best. Remember to rotate sites. And if you have trouble, talk to your doctor or nurse for further instruction.
I am using a self injecting pen and lately experiencing alot of pain even though I ice prior to injection. I was trained to inject into my thigh and I think I may be hitting the muscle? Do you think I should use the outer part of thigh?
So I was told by the nurse practitioner that I can alternate between intra and sub q for cypionate injection. Everything I’ve read about sub q is it will burn and still work. Any thoughts?
You can pinch the area where you’re going to inject and what’s in your hand is fat, what is not is muscle. You will likely need a longer needle and the courage to insert it all the way.
