When you create so many alternate timelines you splinter the space time continuum into parallel universes. Did you all not see Back to the Future and Doc Brown's explanation? Sure Thanos can create a fixed point- but the workaround for that is feasible, so long as you make Thanos the victim of the Snap. The recent episode of the Flash went over this where Nora Allen tried to prevent the deaths of her friends by a villain and she tried 52 times to change the outcome to no avail, until she involved all the victims in her plan and slowed down time/reversed it just enough to remap the timing of the killing blow to affect the villain not the targets. It won't so much a linear change as a remapping, like we see all the time in movies where something slows down/speeds up. That's my theory.

What if instead of the Ancient One being the one that sees the future and tells Fury, it is Danvers. She could use the quantum realm in her solo movie set in the 90's to time travel to the future. Upon seeing the snap and who remains after it she returns to her normal time to warn Fury. After she warns him she gives him a pager telling him to contact her when everyone starts to turn to dust. Would explain how Fury knew who to recruit and who not to recruit (no need to recruit Spider-Man or Scarlet Witch when neither make it) as well as explaining why waiting so long to message Danvers (she gave specific instructions on when to use the pager). Also another forgotten character that could return is the Abomination from the Hulk solo movie. It would be awesome to see Abomination and Hulk team up to fight Thanos.

First report I heard was 20 minutes after impact, and I was in the area, not across the Atlantic in a functionally assumed 3rd world country. The host thought it was a prop plane. There is a simple information delay between the bogeys over Wakanda and the snap. No need for any alternate time line. Just a delay in info transmission.
What if there was an agreement between Fury and Captain Marvel that she would only come to defend earth against actual threats because she is an honourable warrior? Until now Thanos hasnt attacked earth personally. Now he has she can be called to retaliate.
