I removed the intake manifold with the entire fuel rail and the injectors in plaace. I think its less pain to do it in that way. Great videos, greetins from Brazil!
@50sKid, Can you purchase just the diaphragm for these? I think I’ll add that to my parts list. Your link for the cyclone separator and hoses was still good. Added that.
i know what car you would love. get an e39 touring with 3.0 diesel engine. its literally an lux e46. i never thought, that i would love them, but it happened, that i bought one and it turns out, that those are very cozy and practical cars. and a loot of people would love to see you repairing them.
Great job on all your Videos. Learned a lot from it so thank you. I do have a question. In some of your videos, you mention the Torque values in respect to the size of the bolts. Is this information somewhere ? Or can you share what size relates to what torque ? Thank you once again and great job explaining everything in detail.
I just did this job with a new cover valley pan too, and now I have a huge leak. I don't know if I forgot to torque some bolts or the factory gasket its fine ...
Hey bud currently doing this entire job timing chain guides included and with the valley pan gasket you didnt putcany rtv on there. Should i run a bead around or do i trust the new valley pan and gasket? Help!
Just about the whole video I was cringing and hoping you didn't accidently drop anything like a bold or washer down one of the intake ports. Some of the valves are open to the cylinder and you would really hate having to pull a head off to get a small washer or bolt out of there! Something I will do is change the orings on the injectors while I have them out as well. Thanks for taking the time to video; I see some things that I needed to understand in the back of the engine. Great job with the post editing; I know this takes time. - Clay
@@50sKid - If you are lucky. Another guy on UA-cam “Glen” dropped a flat washer down one of the left bank intake ports and it slipped right past an open valve. Wouldn’t fit back out the spark plug hole. Anyway, how is the X5 running and doing now after some time? An update video would be awesome regardless of it’s state. Take care, Clay
Breaking down and asking for HELP. 98 740i. Changed water pump and knock sensors. Mixed up the i.a.c. plug and the cam sensor plug. (Idiot move) now wont come out of limp mode. Also making a weird air noise inside of intake.
Heat rises, that valley is formed by the side of the cylinder banks on both sides; the primary source of engine heat is the combustion in those walls. Frictional heat is also generated throughout the Engine but circulating oil carries most of that away and down to the oil sump. Many oil pans will have fins on them as this engine does, to help cool that oil. Most American designed V8 engines don’t have this coolant filled valley, it’s a blessing and a curse.
Hello Sir, I changed Center dash vent, pulled dash apart to remove, replaced, put it back together, now no air flow from face level vents - how? Why? Anyone know? Fan blows fine
By the way, the bolts on the CCV is a RIBE bit, not a torx bit, which is likely why people regularly strip them. No idea why this is the only part on the entire car that uses a RIBE bolt, as far as I know.
50s kid I love ur class but to tell the truth bmw is not the alternate driving machine, it's a ten yrs old car, it's made of plastic, u see them park up in junk yard and garages, all they have is name and pricy, when I sum bmw up they're a crap, TOYOTA for ever,,
Wow this engine is complicated with a million tubes hoses and wires everywhere. You are brave tackling this job
Asap to watch of the notice!!!!! Been here since E46 video's
Buddy, you're a braver man than I, no way would I have the confidence to tackle this job!!!

You'll be sorry not replacing the PVC device at the rear. Going to bite you. Great video.....
You’re probably right. I will buy a new diaphragm for it
@@50sKid The one on my '95 740i was next to impossible to get to while the manifold was still on the car.

Damn. Just Damn. Great video.
You make awesome videos!

It’s in the bmw TIS system. Sorry I don’t remember the values off the top of my head
@@50sKid thanks for the reply. I will check it out.
Can you do a video on what DMTL fits a 2000 323i

WHAT IS THE TORQUE MEASUREMENT FOR THE VALLEY PAN SCREWS?
IN ADVANCE YOU ARE AN EXCELLENT TEACHER AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIPS
If the bolt thickness is 6mm, it’s 10 nm
@@50sKid THANKS AMIGO

Worse comes to worse, magnet through the spark plug hole.

Should I really buy a brand new valley pan?
Or should I just use some black silicon sealant on the original valley pan in my engine?
Hello, what type of parts cleaner do you have, thanks.
Do you think that job was done before? For sure that manifold had after market gaskets. How many man hours did you spend on the total project?

u are so good! love u
I think that kind of rubber comes with valley pan is not strong enough.. i would still put silicone on it too to hold much better! 👍
Why is coolant under the valley pan?
To cool the engine -- that passage allows the coolant to travel from one side to the other within the block.

Touring e46?
Something a little different from an E46
@@50sKid but still bmw? Maybe an older v12?
Are you gonna be selling this car?
It belongs to a buddy of mine and we are not sure yet. The paint is really letting it down.
