Very Cool Mike! I like that you told everyone it took you 3 times to get the intake to set right. That lets them know that it is NOT easy, and even mechanics will get it wrong a few times. Great channel!!!!

Thank you so much for posting this video. Seeing this has helped me so much as I was hesitant to tackle this task until I saw this. Keep up the great job .
Outstanding video, I used this to review what I needed to do to get to my oil seperator tube/hose CCV vent tube that runs from the front to the back connection. I broke it fitting to the new CCV in the back as I was having issues with oil at start up. There appears to be oil leaking on top of the valves from the intake runners as I seen puddles around the valve seats on every cylinder except the one that was open. I hope with the new CCV valve and the new oil seperator hose clears this smoke at start up. If not not sure what the next step is.
Thanks once again Mike. Another Great video. I am a huge fan of your work. You really know how to maintain the M62 engine. It's a shame we won't get to see you do the timing chain guides...

Hi Mike! Excellent video. My 75 year old brother just gave me his 1998 740I BMW. I said gave up on it after he seen what might have smoke coming from the back or under the car. So, he parked it in his driveway and it's been three years. I checked the radiator and it was empty. Could what you repaired in the video be the cause of the antifreeze loss or something else. Car started right up after putting in a new battery.
Thank you for watching! I think this is could be radiator leaking or one of the bottom hoses. Try to fill up the system with antifreeze and drive the car or maybe it would leak right a way from somewhere. I don't think this is the valley pan.
Hi , i changed 2 times the gaskets from intake and still have vacuum leaking from the driver side , just don t know what can it be , can you help , the intake manufold can be damagged or something ?
When you were installing the Manifold gasket, why you didn’t clean all the residue around it with the break cleaner? I am going to try this job soon! Please reply at your earliest. Thanks

Awesome Mike , great video thanks ! I have a question that I have 2002 745i , i looked expansion tank to check level but coolant color is like gray not blue ,it wasn't 2 weeks ago (130M miles). What's problem ?
How important are those rivets from the old cover to the new one. When I took my old one off, those were missing so I doth have anything to put into the new one?
This rivets are to protect from getting dirt inside. If you live in a warm climate without snow, you can leave it as is. If you have snow and mud I would recommend to install this rivets in place.
Mike's Garage thanks as always! It’s odd that these are not included in the kit I bought from FCP and I can’t find them for purchase as a separate standalone part. It’s an odd placement for these holes. I wasn’t sure if it was for temperature regulation or what purpose they serve.

Hey mike how’s the coolant valley pan gasket holding up so far? Any leaks? I bought the URO valley pan just like you and gonna tackle this job for the 3rd time tomorrow
Mike's Garage Thanks for the response. The 1st time I reused the original pan, removed old gasket and applied permatex ultra black rtv. Was leaking from the rear of the engine so 2nd time I used original pan and applied permatex right stuff black rtv. Leak got worse! Maybe rtv alone isn’t enough or I didn’t let it cure enough. Either way this time with the pan I have a strong feeling the repair is gonna be solid

Why is this dish placed in the middle? Is it necessary and what is it?
This dish plate used to seal the lower intake manifold to the cylinder heads and engine. I think this it necessary for disassemble the engine.
Do you have a part number for those valley pan cover rivets? I’m replacing mine and the old one did not have rivets??
Try this PN: 13711741097

Can you give me an idea of how much that cost?? My e31 1995 m60 engine needs it badly..
Roughly around $500-600 with parts
did you you any gasket sealant (not gasket maker). e.g. on the intake manifold gasket?
No, I didn't use gasket maker on intake manifold, only seals.

@Bojan Lovric I think you can put tape over this holes and make a small hole with needle for breathing. Thank you for watching my videos!
Any tips on how to get the coolant pipes back in I’m having a lot of trouble with the new orings
You need to lubricate them with a little bit of oil or grease.
Mike's Garage I tried everything there is can’t get them on for nothing
Mike's Garage going to try some different orings they fit into the accumulation but they just won’t go in on the water pump
Are you sure o-rings is back in place?
It should slide back without any problems.

This is you need to find out at your local shop or maybe in couple of shops.
What's the torque specs you used 15 or 11?
15 Nm is the same as 11 ft-lb
How long would it take the average backyard mechanic with average automotive knowledge to perform this job
