I bought this bike in green about a month ago. I'm still running it in currently which is annoying because it comes alive at 6k, which is the suggested maximum revs for the running in period. It's comfortable but after about 70 or 80 miles I need to get off for a few minutes as the seat is a little on the firm side... I love the sound. There's a few videos on UA-cam with bikes that have been fitted with a full exhaust system, which removes the cat. Full systems aren't cheap though, which is why most just go for the end can Road mode is probably where I will leave it. Sport mode makes the throttle aggressive, great if you want to have a play, but tiring if you are on a longer ride or you are in built up areas for any length of time. Either way, I love this bike.
Yes, the breaking-in period is a pain in the ass. I'm sure you'll do those miles in no time. I agree with the seat. I took my seat to a local upholstery company and they made it more comfy. I've just installed my full scorpion system not long. It's not cheap, but hey.. I don't want to mess around with decat and stuff like that. Plus when you do that, you need to remap the ECU and all that, whilst with certain exhaust companies, Scorpion in this case, Ive been told by them that their exhaust, as long as I use both their slip-on and headers, are designed to work with the bike's default settings so no remap required.
I bought mine 2 weeks ago, 1600km right now. Only minuses for me: seat, hitting exhaust sometimes with heel, no oem support for quickshifter (i know no dbw) and heated grips. Overall i love this thing. Amazed oem windshield works so well on higway up to 130kmh.
Awesome. Yes, thinking about it now, hitting the exhaust with the heel it's also a thing for me, in fact I can see a bit of melted "something" in there. Might be from my boot.
For my 2020 Z900 the Kawasaki Ergo-Fit Extended Reach Seat made all the difference in comfort and smoothing out the bumpy roads. My legs are also stretched out a bit more which is great for longer rides. FYI, I had a 2018 Z900 and bought the Kawasaki Ergo-Fit Extended Reach Seat for that one and kept it when I sold the bike. The seat I have on my 2020 now is for the 2018 model and it fits fine. So if you have a 2020 and up model and can't find the seat for that model, the 2018 model seat will fit.

Black and red looks really good. I wanted to go for that but the 2020 model didn't look as good as 21. I like that with the 21 model the frame its also red not just black. As for the windscreen, yes it definitely makes a difference. The only problem is, there aren't really many taller windscreens which look good on this bike, because of its aggressive design. The only one I liked was the original kawa taller screen. But yes, definitely helps.

It's all about style and preference. Speaking of MT-10, I actually like that you can ride that naked OR equip it for touring with taller windscreen and all that.. and it will still look good either way. i.e. chaseontwowheel's mt-10 looks amazing. However, you can't really do that with the Z900. It looks mean, aggressive when it's naked, but you have to be careful what mods you put on it, as not all of them will look good.
It's a great bike fun to ride and plenty of power to go from zero to stupid real fast. Sport bike feel with a more relaxed and comfortable riding position.
Z650 its also a great choice with plenty of power. I primarily went for this because I wanted to try an inline 4 engine, and also my previous bike was a 500cc, so the jump from that to 650 felt a bit small. Needed a big boys bike.. lol
I see a larger windscreen. May I know which one is it (what manufacture) and can you feel the difference big enough to switch? The wind is killing me from 130 kmh onwards.
It's the Kawasaki large windscreen. You won't see a huge amount of difference, but enough to be glad you have the taller windscreen. I've also ordered the givi one so I can compare them side by side, so I might create a video on that.
Not as ugly as all the other options out there. In fact I like how it looks from the rider perspective. More in line with the whole sugomi design the z900 has, see shaaf's video when he was riding a z900.
As for wind protection, we'll see Both givi and Kawasaki taller screen seem to be 28cm roughly, so... The 2 were my top options initially. Obviously the kawa one fits better and probably looks better, but the givi wasn't far from it..
I had it for a few months. Great commuter bike that can rip canyons on weekends. Only prob was with the electronics - too many false errors on the screen. Hope there's a software update in the pipeline.

@Gianni you still shift, but just with your foot. The quickshifter cuts engine power for 60 milliseconds, unloading the engine load on the clutch. Basically a clutchless upshift, but perfectly done every time. You can still use the clutch if you want to. I installed a quickshifter on my Z, but I still shift normal from 1st to 2nd, and also at lower rpm. The quickshifter is most useful when you are revving it high and trying to shift fast. This is also only for upshifts. You still have to throttle blip to downshift.

@@W.Arc. Why would a "road" mode limit power? You any actual evidence of this. What the video uploader said makes sense. That it just ups the traction control to a higher setting.
Probably not. You definitely need a more comfy seat. And you would also need something taller to help with the legs position. Well.. You could. You could tour on anythng these days. But it depends how much. If you're looking for a touring bike, i would look elsewhere. If you you're looking for a street bike, with the occasional once a year touring trip, yes it's definitely doable.

Not as ugly as all the other options out there. In fact I like how it looks from the rider perspective. More in line with the whole sugomi design the z900 has, see shaaf's video when he was riding a z900.
As for wind protection, we'll see
Both givi and Kawasaki taller screen seem to be 28cm roughly, so... The 2 were my top options initially. Obviously the kawa one fits better and probably looks better, but the givi wasn't far from it..
I just released a video on this: ua-cam.com/video/LlWgG25p7Mw/v-deo.html
I had it for a few months. Great commuter bike that can rip canyons on weekends. Only prob was with the electronics - too many false errors on the screen. Hope there's a software update in the pipeline.
What sort of software errors have you had? Apart from the Error 62 that I had, everything else seems fine.
@@TheBikeFather They used to come on and go off after a couple of rides. This happened especially after riding in the wet (put off the sensors probably) or after long rides. Many reports of this on the net. Probably faulty batches.
@@beingsolo80 Cloud be. There are no bikes without faults. The more technology, the more faults it has lol. Look at KTM as an example.
@@TheBikeFather I like Kawasaki's because they are "basic" with raw power. For example, I had the Z800 for a year and it had 0 issues. Flawless. I hope they iron out the software in the Z900.
@@beingsolo80 I like tech. lol .. fortunately I haven't had many issues. I actually posted a video yesterday, not sure if you've seen it, 5000 miles review, and at some stage, I go through all the issues I had: ua-cam.com/video/tvVXcn-y4DI/v-deo.html
How do you have your audio set up I love how it sounds
Right now it's connected directly to the GoPro via the MediaMod, using the PurplePanda mic, however, with some other videos, I'm also experimenting recording into an external recorder instead, as with that I can control the mic gain, which means less noise.
Check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/0x5neJ6CDoE/v-deo.html . It's a longer motovlog with some thoughts and ideas about the audio, however, I'm planning to do another video with a proper comparison side by side soon.
Hi Alex, hope you had a good Christmas, I've just ordered a tail tidy for my z900 not sure if you've fitted one? Also I'm looking at going on the Chilly Willy air ambulance run on 9th Jan. Starts at 10 but leaves at 12 from great billing. Might be a bit to far in the cold for you, it's an excuse to get out on the bike though. Let me know if your going, I will buy you a coffee. Thanks , Chris.
Sorry. just seen this. Bad weather, a baby and everything else, I havent had much time for riding, or even creating videos. I've just started being more active now. We should go for a quick ride or coffee soon, now that the weather its better.
I am always eyeing for the z900 but waiting patiently till it has quickshifter and heated grips oem.
What does quickshifter do?
@Gianni you can shift by just using the gear shifter. No clutch or going off throttle needed.
@@lovelessissimo doesnt it become a automatic motor then?
@Gianni you still shift, but just with your foot. The quickshifter cuts engine power for 60 milliseconds, unloading the engine load on the clutch. Basically a clutchless upshift, but perfectly done every time. You can still use the clutch if you want to. I installed a quickshifter on my Z, but I still shift normal from 1st to 2nd, and also at lower rpm. The quickshifter is most useful when you are revving it high and trying to shift fast. This is also only for upshifts. You still have to throttle blip to downshift.
@@lovelessissimo aah like that! Thankyou!. Do you have instagram bro? I would like to ask you some questions i want to buy a z900 but im not sure
me is getting confused between cbr650r and z900😔😔😔😔 don't know which one to buy
cbr650r is a good looking bike. If I wasn't to go for a Naked bike, CBR650r would probably be my first option. But I really wanted to try a naked bike for a change.. so.. that's how I came about the z900
@@TheBikeFather thanks sire I guess I'll go with cbr then 😁😁😁
Ride safe
Do you have a ticking noise in the front end? It's become pretty noticeable for mine and I've put 160km on it
not really, no.. I haven't noticed that.
Yes i had that ticking noise you can hear it clearly when stationary. But after a while it didn't make that noise.
Finally rode one today. Loved it. Really nice, smooth powerful. Easy to be lazy with the gears, it just pulls like an automatic. I am currently also on a CBR500R. Which screen do you have Alex? Is it worth while?
CBR500R. This was my previous bike. I loved it. I got both the tall kawasaki screen, and the Givi screen. I'm torn between the two. I feel the Givi offer a bit more wind protection, I like how it looks from the rider seat, but not really. a fan of how it looks from the front.
@@TheBikeFather Ended up buying a low milage 2020 Street Triple R with all the extras already added. Great bike. Did like the 9-- though. Bit hard to uses all its got to offer on the street.
How is the gas comsuption?
They are amazing!!!!
"Sugomi what?"
"Sugomi nutz"
😎
ROAD is not full power mode... the users manual says otherwise, but ... is different.
It is. Maybe it's different in your region, but here in UK, Sport is Full power with Trsction Control 1, Road is also full power, but KTC is 2, and finally Rain is Limited Power with KTC 3.
@@TheBikeFather no,no, no. The torque graph is much different between 'sport' and 'road'. Country or region does not matter
Oh right.. I see. I don't know about that. I went with what it says in the book, but you might be right. Thanks for the tip.
@@W.Arc. Why would a "road" mode limit power? You any actual evidence of this. What the video uploader said makes sense. That it just ups the traction control to a higher setting.
That's what I thought
For longer trips, try some gel bike shorts under your riding pants.
Thanks. I know what you mean. I had a pair of those when never really liked them.. LOL..
@@TheBikeFather I ended up buying a new Z900 last November. I went on a 3k mile trip last month, and the seat is damn near unusable without an airpad.
awesome bike
Ride for working about 200 km./day
Possible ?
If you change the seat, definitely.
@@TheBikeFather Thanks, Bro
Almost bought the Z900 and then I drove the MT09...
Mt-09 its a different beast. what did you get in the end?
@@TheBikeFather MT-09SP
Could you tour comfortably on this bike?
Probably not. You definitely need a more comfy seat. And you would also need something taller to help with the legs position. Well.. You could. You could tour on anythng these days. But it depends how much. If you're looking for a touring bike, i would look elsewhere. If you you're looking for a street bike, with the occasional once a year touring trip, yes it's definitely doable.
Good video :))
Visit to India…get your custom seat…have some good food…go back to your country….and just install your seat. It’s as simple as that 😎✌️
What´s up !!! I agree with ur point of views. I algo got a new KAWASAKI Z900 and I can say it has much more positive aspects than negative ones. I ´m very satisfied with all TECH FUNCTION embedded on these motorbike. There´re a few negative aspects but it can be revealed. I ve subscribed to ur channel, follow me too. Regards from São Paulo, BRAZIL.
Hello there. So far I haven't found too many negatives to be honest. I'm really enjoying the bike. Ride safe.
@@TheBikeFather Me too, it s so amazing the sound of liberty.
helped me to chouse.. mt09 maybe better in electronics.. but is ugly to me
that's great. I agree, z900 looks much better than mt09, but then again, this is pure preference. so it's different for everyone. thanks for watching
@@TheBikeFather dash of z900 is great.. is ot heavy..to ride it have almost 200kg
It doesn't feel heavy at all. It feels quite good, agile, easy in turns .
Very nice,i Think soo tow

No doubt Z900 is a good bike but Triumph street triple R is a better package in terms of built quality, ride and handling and is also better equipped yes it doesn't have a TFT screen but how much do we even use that. The overall quality of Triumph is way better than Kawasaki.
You might be right, I had a look at the triple, it's just that I don't like those weird headlights. Something about them.. I know some other people feel the same, it's like marmite, you either like it or you don't. But it's definitely a good bike.
Although I am looking forward to test ride one, as I havent had the chance.
@@TheBikeFather Please ride the R variant and I'll be looking forward for your review on it as I'll be upgrading from Duke 390 and I'm very confused between Kawasaki Z900 and Street triple R.
I'll see what I can do. They don't always have new bikes in stock for test riding. Thanks for the suggestion
Hey. Check out my latest video. I've just done a quick comparison between street triple rs and z900: ua-cam.com/video/GfROw6esYtc/v-deo.html
I thought its a very comfortable bike. And your not comfortable with the seat... Hahaha sounds funny
It is comfortsvle because of its upright position, but for long rides, the seat definitely needs some improvements.
You're waaaay to close to that other bike. I'd hate to have you that close, in the side mirror.
