I love this show. It’s like a mini episode of ST once a week.
I can't believe how much I look forward his Star Trek Online Story series. The narration is awesome. Your ad-libs always flow so naturally. Thank you, for all your hard work. It is appreciated.
12:30 - 13:30 ; Now that you mention it, your right. My main is a 25th century Starfleet Capitan but still I can understand this contrast very well and can find some relation there.
I find your analysis even more impressive considering that it was most likely unintentional on the part of the developers since the 23rd Starfleet Capitan option wasn't available until nearly 2 years after this episode launch.
The fact this Vaadwuar is named Gaul... I can't help but wonder if the creators of that race were thinking the same things I was that these guys are like distant relatives to the Cardassians but in the Delta Quadrant.
They seem similar
I seriously recommend at least hitting up the Deferri arc before jumping into the Iconian war, to give context for the first mission of the war since Cryptic stripped that. Plus, putting it here does provide a bit of poignancy and more weight to why a certain Breen is so determined to Let it Go.
As well as the Specters / Drozana Station Arc if possible.
agreed
The Specters arc is _perfect_ for a Temporal Agent like Captain Hale in any case. It's a bit of a pity that it wasn't picked up around Halloween, actually.
@@occultatumquaestio5226 That's not really plot-relevant to get context, though. A nice to have, but ultimately... yeah, not really necessary.
As far as I am concerned, just a another case of " tune in next time for the next episode of Star trek the online series." And in that case.
I love it.
"Muzzle it."
This gave me the giggles.
Nice way to finally take down Gual, although I'm quite dissapointed that we never get more into the fate of the Vaadwaar and the other delta races. This (besides what is practically a cameo in a later mission) is the last time we see of them.
Maybe after the current arc.
Love these as usual!
You know, I don't think your medic or the cadet are familiar faces (unless I've just been missing them in your videos); it could be fun to do a periodic short update video laying out the current roster of the Arminger's crew; the bridge crew, chief medical officer, and chief engineer, and any notable frequent away team members... introduce us to these recurring faces that you know so well, but we only glimpse. (And occasionally update us when that roster has undergone significant changes).
Just a thought.
Same here 👍
Hmmmm... the design of that artefact looks _awfully_ familiar. What could it beeeee?
That pylon was NOT Vaadwaur technology.
It's a Jigglypuff seen from above!
I called it all the way back when these stories were coming out, normal vad tech is all browns and yellows(you can see it in the fighter hanger). But the new generation capital ships all have Glowy purple bits.
Honestly I don't think Gaul even cared about his people so much as him being in charge of an empire. The guy basically sold his people into unknowing slavery just for the chance to hold dominance in the region.
Honestly I could it being the same thing in Gaul's mind, with Gaul's mindscape being so warped that he honestly would think that him being charge of an galaxy spanning empire is best for the Vaadwaur and all those Vaadwaur who had to die for it were a necessary sacrifice.
I suggest you do the Defari/Breen missions after Delta for context of what's to come in the Iconian arch especially for one mission in it to make sense.
i literally burst out laughing at allot of your adlib no matter how many times i watch the same play through over and over again
Is it me or does Gaul sound like Illidan Stormrage?
it is the same actor
Please do the Deferri arc before moving to the Iconian arc. or else the first mission won't make sense
I never thought about the similar backstory between Gaul and TOS captains. If my own TOS captain has a personal enemy, I'd say it's Noye, due to both having been forced into a new life against their will thanks to time travel.
Yes but there's one aspect Noye had a choice. While your TOS captain may have felt it necessary due to duty has none as well as Gaul.
I had no such reservations about the reveal Gaul wasn't being controlled, that made him even more heinous. He was complacent in his own people being enslaved by the blue gills, he helped them, he worked with them to enslave his own people to the blue gills. And, for what? To rule an empire? That is so much more monstrous than simply being controlled by a blue gill.
So after getting inspired by your play throughs, I recently started playing STO again after nearly 5 years away and found it quite disappointing. A lot of the early content and stories have been gutted and cut back, leaving a lot of the later stories which built upon this work feeling sorely lacking and hollow. That said, I’m still grateful for all the hard work you put into your videos, as not only are the fun and informative, they’ve also rekindle the my interest in a game I burnt out on long ago
A lot of the old mission lines are still there, just loved into the Incoming Hails tab of the Missions menu.
Also keep in mind that Rick is playing as a TOS captain. Current Starfleet has a different start, with TOS having the most content prior to arriving at ESD. STD captains have the least creative start, as it's basically lifted from the current Starfleet start. I haven't played much Klingon, but you've also seen Rick play as a Romulan captain.
I think it'd be interesting if the game could make your individual captains meet at things like summits and alliance conferences, as representatives of their different factions. And to have them fight alongside you in large battles as well.
@@BNuts I thought about that myself actually, would be cool when during things like Dyson Sphere summits you could see Tovan Khev among the Romulans etc
They have been removed they say so they can be reworked. New cut scenes dialogue etc etc. Have no idea when they will return however.
A lot of the Klingon War arc was gutted when the Victory Is Life expansion got added. The intent was to see them 'renastered', but the STD tie-in crap started being pushed and... well...
such is life...
Also a minor change has occurred to this mission. That point at the end where Ethan Burgess pops up, is no longer Ethan Burgess. Now it is Admiral Janeway herself.
4:28 Credit where it's due to Gaul's voice actor. He truly sounds like he's barely holding back his rage at seeing his beloved home world reduced to radioactive dust ... (That it was in retaliation for endless expansionism doesn't matter to a man when all he sees all he remembered being obliterated.)
Liam O'Brien does a great job
16:00 ; There appears to be a slight difference between what Seven is saying and what is appearing in the text box.
recent Legacy update for PC consoles will get the update March 3rd
So much for the Demon with the Golden Voice, now for the Demons of Air and Darkness.
Watching your videos is like watching a new star trek series! Awesome narration!
Gaul...wasn't controlled by a parasite. He sold out to the Bluegills on his own. Did he understand that if he'd succeeded, he'd have doomed his entire race to subjugation as parasite hosts?
Cue Gilbert Gottfried yelling "WHAAAT AN ASSHOLE!"
Great video! 👍
I really look forward to each of these new episodes, good work, thank you for this
This how you do the 'parallels between the hero and villain' PROPERLY!
This mission is bloody difficult. I was incapacitated 9 times here. 9 bloody times.
@William George yes. You are right.
Only 9?
@@vexile1239 Well, to be honest, I hadn't fully built character then. Now with my Sci Character, everything becomes boringly easy.
The best modules are Cold Fusion Flash, Exothermic Induction, Gravitational Juncture, Neutronic Radiation and Temporal Anomaly Containment.
@@cmdrtianyilin8107 cool
I still think you should have been able to arrest Eldex at the end for the murder of that Benthan crew.
Weekly dose of ST love the high quailty narration
That sphere device looks a lot like a palantir.
yeah I really do enjoy the story of this arc but man is it a wall for new players.
A massive difficulty spike coming from trying to shake up the Meta (of the time) at the same point where players are reaching the end of viable for the free low end T5 and are needing to start proper gearing themselves out instead of picking up and using what you are given.
(a lot funner now that i can take my T6 with gold everything to do it.)
For some reason, this video isn't in the Delta Sector playlist. Had to manually come here to view it, like a barbarian!
One insight that hit me on the last play through. Elder, and much of the other Vaurduar view what Gaul did with the Bluegills with the same horror and revulsion that they view the Kobali. As Parasites that steal a Varduar’s very body. Is it Xenophobia if they actually are out to steal your body? Your flesh?
One takes the living while the other takes the dead. At least the Undertakers could at least be reasoned with and be under a mutually beneficial agreement.
2:00 I'm not certain as I've not seen it otherwise, but I suspect the docking platforms here are in a bugged state as well. I don't think they're supposed to be floating above the fighters like that.
This is no doubt one of my favorite video series on UA-cam right now. I've done some video editing myself so I can somewhat appreciate the time and effort that must go into this.
When you see a purple glow, And a blue orb ah shit iconians.
Gaul clearly saw the PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE option as the smarter option. Too bad Star Fleet doesn't want it!

"Only a fool tries the same thing several times and expects a different outcome" Or a software quality assurance engineer, but then they provide on the job training on how to be insane and paranoid
Nice to see the Vaadwaur being taken down.
This episode is not on the autoplaylist for this series. Almost missed it.
keep up the good work it is good see a follow on from voyger and startrek.
I don't know if I was doing something wrong or what, but the whole fight in the circular arena was just excessively difficult for me.
(For the record, this made it less fun, not more fun, so a lot of people I've been in arguments with owe me an apology.)
I played this story arc back when it released, and as such was the endgame, and a lot of the fights were balanced to be a bit more challenging than what I found entertaining.
Particularly Gaul himself was a massive bullet (uh, phaser?) sponge.
Besides, if anybody tells you that you are wrong if you say you are not having fun, they suck and should be ashamed of themselves.
This particular fight depends on your build, equipment, and your BOs...if you have any kind of holds, debuffs, or turrets/drones, that makes the overall fight a lot easier. AOE damage also helps with the various spawn mobs.
More of Liam O'Brien's VO work.
I thought you were saying fois gras... I've been told it's tasty. How it's made makes it sounds less appetizing.
I really enjoy your Star Trek Online series episodes and have been inspired to try the game myself (even though I'm a horrible gamer). I really like creating the aliens and then watching them in action. Sometimes things happen so fast and I miss some of it. How do you record your games for playback? Is there a record or playback option your character kick butt again and again? Like I said, I'm not much of a gamer so I might be missing some real obvious feature.
Gual's VA is the same as Illidan Stormrage in WoW.
Gaul is a douche bag
Delta alliance: were going to man's whole carrier
Also please do a Zerg index one day
*THE ORB*
You do know that the number sequencing of your episodes isn't in the correct numerical sequence?
Fallout: Old Vaad'Waar Blues.
Are we going to see the Guardian of Forever quest yet now the major quest line is done?
And now things get good.
Question; why does no one use transporter technology offensively? Once you get the shield down, transport part of enemy ships and harvest the energy?
There is an organ thief Delta Quadrant race that uses transporter weapons, both hand weapons and ship ones, the hand weapons scan for your best organ and take it, the ship weapons take crew.
What is the name of the slightly skinned grape in the beginning? Don’t recognize it’s species or anything.
6:28 Star Trek: Gears of War
👍
I think that the artefact could be Iconian,or another ancient race in the game??
careful there are things in the shadows that don't like it when one looks to closely
I blame the Iconians again.
