I actually keep mine outdoors and it gets bright direct sunlight in the morning and it receives dappled light throughout the day and it loves it. It has also been receiving exuberant amount of rain so it is wet, wet, wet yet It doesn’t seem to mind it at all (it’s been super rainy for about 3 weeks now) and it is growing like a weed without any leaves dropping. Also the cissus discolor does not have aerial roots those are tendrils that are used to latch on but does not have the same function as roots. Lovely cissus you have and will be looking forward to seeing you propagate it. Thanks for sharing.
MY Tropical Plant Adventures yes someone else commented and said what I thoughts was Ariel roots was tendrils as well. Also that it’s part of the grape family too. I took a cutting and it’s in my prop box now. We shall see 😬
@@HeatherHoyas Awesome! Can’t wait to see the results as I have not attempted to propagate it yet but plan on giving it a haircut next year. Also another amazing vining plant that I got not too long ago was the variegated yam plant which is an absolute stunner and it is so easy to grow. I did feature it on my latest video showing it’s phenomenal growth habit. I think it is an awesome plant to add to your beautiful collection. I am hoping all is well and HAPPY GROWING DEAR! 🤗
@@HeatherHoyas PS I did see someone propagate using sphagnum moss and keeping it covered and sealed within a container. It worked great for her showing successful results. I will be using that method for my propagation as well.
Thanks for the tips! Mine has been struggling with leaves dropping and the edges getting crispy. I was letting it dry out too much. I'll definitely start keeping it moist. 💕
Thanks for the info. I've put mine in a clear, lidded box to create humidity as spring hasn't arrived yet and the leaves were dropping off so much. I have to keep a good eye on it over the next few weeks. It's related to the grape vine family btw. Happy planting, Jo from New Zealand 🇳🇿
I propagate mine easily in water. Plus, position it in an east-facing window. It grows rapidly and happily there. It just needs good light, and a lot of water. Moreover, I do not use a humidifier.
I bought one of these about a week ago.. im guving it indirect light. Im not sure some of the leaves close to the soil are discloured, im jot sure whats going on please help ??
I had cuttings that did well in sphagnum moss the water didn't work well for me. But I used an old fast clear fast food container with moss and just covered and let it go. And rooted very quickly
I just got my first one of these today. It was so beautiful I couldn't resist buying it. Thank you for the tips, I kept reading that it needs very high light so I was going to put it in somewhat direct sun so I'm glad I watched your video before I did that.
I know this is super old but I want to put my cissus discolor in pon cause she's not doing to well in chunky soil mix with peat moss but like I said even with self watering and a humidifier she just gets very dry and the leaves just fall off she's my favorite plant so I want to save her what do you think about these in pon
Before you cut it why dont you try laying the vine on some soil. I have had things sprout roots and just start growing just like that. If it doesn't work, you have nothing to lose. Good luck with whatever works. Did you ever look at Maria's Garden for your Desert Rose ???
Correct--they are tendrils. They do not absorb anything as roots would. Only for anchoring and support as they climb surfaces looking for more light. :)

Yes I water mine about every third day.

any updates?!(:
Crazy Plant guy has a nice video on Cissus discolor and shows how easily he water propagates it.
Such a beautiful plant, I haven’t seen it get much hype so it’s refreshing to see different plants!
Brooklyn Apkarian it’s one of my faves ❤️

We love a cissus discolor moment! Thanks for the tips! Gonna keep my humidity higher for it now 😂♥️
❤️ thanks for watching
Just cut a piece of stalk with a node and stand it up in wet spagnum moss. It takes many weeks but it will root in a bright warm place.
I had cuttings that did well in sphagnum moss the water didn't work well for me. But I used an old fast clear fast food container with moss and just covered and let it go. And rooted very quickly

Ali K so glad I could help 🥰
These plants are almost non-existent in the UK. I havw been obsessed with them forever! I have just managed to purchase one! Thank you for the tips.
Petty Woman yay!! That’s exciting. Happy for you 😊
In Meghalaya India it's a weed in the wild.
And I got one for myself. And we'll see if I can tame it😀.
Mimi Mimi omg I love that!!!

That’s a great idea. I forgot about doing that! And yes!! She’s very helpful.
@@HeatherHoyas 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love this plant! I’ve been looking for one but can’t find one local :/
Yes they are quite difficult to find locally
how do these act under a grow light? will it burn or thrive?
Both of mine are under natural lighting so I can’t really speak from experience on that.
Aye I don’t think their roots. They’re in the grape family so they tether and vine and have the same characteristics as grapes.
Max W oh wow! They seemed just like roots!!! Thank you for clearing that up for me!

PlantyMomma thank you!!
I’m so glad I found you !!..lol 💚💚
Me too!! 🥰
