How to get rid of gnats in soil bought from the store prior to using??? And what you use that rids them if you do get them?? My 8 year old has science experiments and she over waters and we got gnats. I don't want to kill her tomato and squash which is growing inside our apartment.
@@michellecastro2475 I've heard of people microwaving the soil prior to using it, but that just sounds like a mess and you'll also kill good microbes. To get rid of them I would suggest you try bottom watering and the plant in the water just long enough so that the top layer of soil doesn't get moist, this will reduce or even eliminate the environment they need. Let me know if that helps. When you can, watch this video ua-cam.com/video/aoaLJ1PJ2wA/v-deo.html
Any help on growing monstera adansonii would be great! Mine always ends up with pests and root rot. I’m beginning to think I cannot grow it on my lanai despite releasing lacewing.
Thank you. I appreciate the comment, just life has gotten a bit busier and it's been more difficult to create the content. We're trying though. Thank you for watching, much appreciated.
Thank you this was rather helpful I was just gifted one of these beautiful plants and I am still learning more about it and my other plants and this was great information
This came in very handy, as I’ve been Babying my Monstera since I purchased it two years ago. So far so good but there’s always room for improvement thank you for this video and making sure I’m doing all I can. I’ve been given a second one by a neighbor so I will make sure that that one has all the care and nourishment. Thank you so much.
You’re very welcome. Sounds like you’re off to a great start having grown your first one for 2 years. I’m sure you’ll do great with the second. Please let me know if I can help.
Great video. Informative and helpful. I was scared of killing a monstera so I avoided getting one but I feel some level of confidence since watching your video. You just gained a new subscriber 😊
You can do it. Just get one, follow the steps and adjust if you see something is off. During your process let me know if I can help or you have any questions. Would love to see your success.
Great video! Thanks for the reminder on flushing out the salts! I always plant monsteras “high” so aerial roots behind the main stalk sit right at soil level. Is that ok? Or should I bury them deeper? I’m always afraid to rot them but I am an under waterer here in Florida. 😂
Hey neighbor, same here in Florida. Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the video. I always plant all my plants at the same depth in the soil that they were growing in. You're right, planting too deep can increase the probability of rotting them out. Let me know if I can help.
Can i ise spaghnum moss instead of peat moss in the mixture. I always add extra perlite and orchid bark. I may need to repot and i have it on a mole for about a month now. The last leaf is bigger than the others.
I’ve never tried that but I think that the spaghnum moss may prevent the plant from taking a solid hold in the pot and sit a bit wobbly. Do you have access to coir? That could be another option.
Bottom-watering has helped me discover THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH. Haha. Yes, this is my son who is now helping me to create these videos. Life has gotten busy and I have less time, but this is giving us an opportunity to work together, him to learn ( I'm sure I will as well ), and provide content that I hope you all find useful. Win, Win, Win. Great catch, I thought no one would've noticed JK. Thanks for watching.
I got Peru Monstera 4" from Amazon California delivered over 2 months ago w/ 3 leaves. 2 are trying to produce another leaves. & the 3rd original has mad 3 more growing from 1 each new one. I water Saturdays morning until water come out bottom hole. Then toss extra water. Mines in a hanging basket now?
What topics would you find most useful in future videos?

It's too bad this channel doesn't produce more content. I really like this channel. I think it really has the potential to be much bigger.

Great video, thanks. Can't leach soil, pot and plant way too large to move 😂
Mine has grown very tall but it does not have the holes in it. What am I doing wrong?
May need to increase the light. Little at a time.
